–WFI–Chapter 17 Friday, August 6

Rory didn't get in bed until late Thursday night. She was trying to get the house cleaned up. She was nervous. Friday morning she was up before Logan. When he woke, she was not in bed. He found her in the office working on her to-do list.

"Ace, Come back to bed. You don't have to be up yet. You will get all this done. Get that wedding planner in here. We are paying way too much money for you to be the one up and worried." Logan said.

"What I am doing now has nothing to do with the wedding, well it does but it is nothing the wedding planner can take care of." She told him,

"Rory, that is what I have been hearing since the day you hired her. I want to know what we are paying for?" Logan said.

Rory stopped what she was doing and looked at him. "Are you seriously starting a fight? I have too much to do to get ready for Brenda. I don't have time to stroke your ego." She said and started back working on her list.

Logan stood there for a few minutes. He then left and went back to bed. When he left, Rory looked up. She couldn't believe she was treating him like that. He was just trying to help her. The wedding is getting more and more stressful. She put down her tablet, turned off the lights, and went upstairs.

Logan was in the bathroom when she entered the bedroom. She crawled in bed and waited for him to come back to bed. When he did, she curled up against him and told him how sorry she was.

"I am just trying to help. I don't not want you to be so stressed out that she couldn't enjoy the wedding." He told her. They stayed cuddled up like that for a little while. It wasn't long before Chris knocked on the door. He came in and went to Rory's side of the bed. He crawled in.

"What's wrong with you?" Rory asked, feeling his head to see if he has a fever.

"I don't feel good." He told her.

"Yeah, where do you hurt?" She asked. This time she was rubbing his tummy.

"Nowhere, I just don't feel good." He told her. Rory rolled over and cuddled up with him. He didn't feel warm.

"Are you maybe sad because Ricky and Karson are getting married and moving?" Logan asked

"Maybe?" he said. Rory turned her head toward Logan. Logan nodded.

"If I tell you something, you can not tell anyone other than Will," Rory said.

"Okay," He said. He perks up. He likes secrets.

"Ricky and Karson are moving into Ms. Gatherhine's house," Rory said. Chris just lay there.

"That's the house behind our fence?" He asked.

Logan answered, "Yes"

He lay there for a moment, then asked."Can we talk the fence down?"

"I don't know about that. We will have to talk with Karson and Ricky," Logan said.

"They won't care" He got up and left the room. Logan and Rory just looked at each other and smiled.

"Newlyweds. We will keep the fence up for at least the first year." Rory said laughing.

Rory was dressed, sitting in the living room with a cup of coffee, looking over the newspaper when Karson and Ricky came through to tell her they were headed to the airport.

"Hey, before you go, I probably need to tell you something," Rory said. They stopped and waited. "Chris was upset this morning because the both of you are moving away. We told him that you will be living in Ms. Gatherhine's house. He got excited and asked if Logan could move the fence. Logan told him that we would have to ask you. After he left, I told Logan, not for the first year at least."

Ricky and Karson both thought that was funny. "Are you bringing your mom back here?" Rory asked.

"Probably not. We will help her get settled in the hotel, then she will want to get some sleep, she will have to work tonight. The office will be open in Japan." Ricky said.

Rory nodded. "Will she be able to meet us for supper tonight? I made reservations." Rory asked.

"I'll mention it to her." Ricky told her.

Ricky dropped Karson off after lunch and headed to work. Karson found Rory when she got back to the house. "Glad you are back. I need you to look over this list of foods." Rory told her.

Karson sat down and was looking over the list Rory gave her.

"How was Brenda?" Rory asked.

"She seemed okay. She was glad to see Ricky and spoke about how good he looked. How much he looked like his daddy. She told Ricky to send her the information on supper tonight. She never said she was going or not," Karson told Rory.

"Okay, well maybe she will show up," Rory said. "I talked with Cynthia, she thinks it should just be us. They shouldn't come. She.."

Karson cut her off, "If they don't want to come, I guess it is okay, but they are family. Are Honor and Josh coming?"

"I don't know," Rory said.

"I will call both of them. I want them there. They are my family. Ricky's too." Karson said.

"The more the merrier," Rory said as Karson was leaving the living room. Rory, though she thinks with everyone there the spotlight will be off her. She is right, none of us will let Brenda say or do anything to upset Karson. Rory was remembering her first dinner with the Huntzburgers.

Karson, Ricky, Logan, and Rory were sitting at the table, waiting for the rest of their party to arrive, when Ricky stood up. "There is Moma." He walked to meet her, kissing her cheek when she met up with him. "Glad you decided to come. You will enjoy it. I want you to meet everyone." He said as he led her to the table, pulling out her chair for her.

She was sitting next to Ricky, who was next to Karson, who was next to Rory, then Logan. They were still waiting on Mitchum and Cynthia, and Honor and Josh. Ricky introduced Logan to his mom.

The waiter stopped by their table to take their drink orders. While he was taking the orders, the rest of the crew showed up. As they gave their drink order and sat down, Ricky introduced them.

"Mom, this is Rory's Dad, Christopher Hayden, and Leslie, her Mom, Lorelai, I think you may have met her before and her step-dad Luke Danes. This is Logan's dad, Mitchum and Cynthia Huntzburger, and his sister Honor and her husband Josh Chase. Everyone, this is my mom Brenda Greene." Everyone exchanged greetings.

Rory looked at Karson, she was so nervous. Rory whispered in Logan's ear, "I'm taking Karson to the little girls' room, order an appetizer that she will eat." Rory stood up. "If you will excuse me, I'm going to powder my nose, Karson would you like to join me?"

Karson looked at, "Yeah," Ricky stood up and pulled her chair out.

"Order some appetizers. We won't be long." Rory told them.

When Rory got her to the ladies' room "Karson, you are way too tense. Slow down on the drinks, eat some of the appetizers. The last thing we need is for you to get drunk in front of your mother-in-law to be." Rory told her.

Karson started giggling. "Okay"

When they got back to the table, the appetizers had been ordered. Karson drank water until the appetizers got there. They talked small talk. They talked about who had seen Hamlet or Wicked. Which one do they like best? Logan and Ricky told about some of the places they ate while in London. Brenda seemed to be getting along well with everyone. They discussed the Jack and Jill bachelor and bachelorette party tomorrow night.

Brenda asked about how that was going to work. "You were talking today about the poker game tomorrow night," Brenda asked.

"We are setting up the poker tables in the pool house. Karson and her ladies are going to be in the house watching movies and playing girl games." Ricky said with a laugh.

"We are all going to sit around the pool while Logan grills. After we eat, we will split up, boys to the pool house, or if any of the girls would like to play poker, and the girls to the main house to watch a movie. The kids will be in the basement watching movies." he explained. "

Okay, so no wild night?" She asked.

Ricky laughed, "No ma'am"

"There will be plenty of booze, we will try to get Ricky drunk, so we can embarrass him." Logan said.

"The same goes for Karson," Honor said.

"Wait, you are going to be at the parties?" Brenda asked. "What about your friends, you do have friends?" Brenda said, looking at Ricky.

"Yes ma'am, my friends will be there and so will Karson's," Ricky said, shaking his head. "You don't understand. This is my family. We spend time together, this is Karson's family. We enjoy each other." Ricky said. Karson reached over and put his hand on Ricky's to try to calm him down. "You don't" Ricky started.

"Ms. Brenda, I was hoping you would like to attend. We will be watching a lot of the old classic love story movies." Karson said.

"We will be playing a few games to see how well Karson knows Ricky" Lorelai pipped in.

"Thank you, I would love to come." Brenda said looking at Karson, then she turned to Ricky, "I'm sorry I questioned your plans. I guess I have missed a lot these last 6 years" Brenda said. "Please forgive me. I want you to be happy."
