Before she could be startled or frightened by the darkness without her, a darkness within suddenly began to consume her. She wasn't afraid, yet a part of her struggled against it, but even that eventually faded until there was nothing but quiet inside and out; it wasn't a joyous quiet like in meditation but rather a forceful and opposing one. When the darkness began to fade and light crept into her eyes again, something began to creep out of her mind.
She recognized Chloe's old truck immediately. She was in it, and when she looked to the side, she saw Chloe but was startled to see she had blue hair. But just as quickly as her confusion came to her, it left along with much else.
Chloe glanced at her with concern as she drove. "Don't worry, we won't have to go back again. ... You OK? You've been looking out of it ever since the storm passed and we left."
Max began to feel overwhelming remorse within herself as tears began to form, but before she could respond, everything became like a faded dream.
Time passed, and she could see some of it happen, but the remorse and darkness consumed her. Suddenly, she heard a voice. "Alright, Max, this is it, just like I've been saying. Here it is, word for word: 'Nearly two weeks ago, both the property and land of Arcadia Bay faced devastating damage from an unexpected tornado, but thankfully, the cost of human life was minimal. Finale estimates are 5 dead, 14 minor injuries, and 3 critical.'"
The dreaminess from her mind began to clear as she looked away from the wall towards the newspaper covering Chloe's face. After lowering the newspaper just below her eye line, Chloe reacted, "Holy shit, she's alive!"
