–WFI–Chapter 18 Saturday, August 7

4:00 Saturday afternoon, Rory was packing up Em's bags. She was going for a sleepover at Mema and Pops' house. The older kids, Will, Chris, Sam, and Joshua are staying. They will be downstairs watching movies and playing video games, while the adults play poker and watch girly movies. Mitchum, Cynthia, Christopher, Leslie, and Luke would not be attending the party. Luke tried his best to get Lorelai to stay home. Told her she was too old, she would cramp their style. Then he said never mind. I forgot who I was talking to.

Cynthia stopped by about 4:30 to drop off some side dishes she made for tonight and to pick up Em. Em was excited. She didn't usually get to spend one-on-one time with her Pops and her Mema. Cynthia was showing Rory the instructions she left for the food to be warmed.

Around 5:30, the dealers showed up. Logan showed them to the pool house. He and Ricky had moved the living room furniture in the pool house to Ricky's bedroom. Collin, Steph, Finn, and Charles. Finn introduced Charles to his friends. Charles and Finn have been dating for a couple of years. The gang was hoping Finn would settle down. Didn't look like it was going to happen anytime soon. Brenda arrived before they started eating. Ricky introduced her to the ones she didn't know. Brenda was sitting and observing.

It wasn't long before Honor, Josh, Joshua, and Sam arrived. Jessi, Gigi, Amanda, Trish, and Glenda were not too far behind Tommy, Thomas, Kem, and Elijah. The kids got in the pool while Logan and Charles grilled. Charles was a chef. He was giving Logan instructions. He is a lot like Finn. They make a good match.

Everyone was sitting around having a good time. Drinks were being served. Hor'dourves were eaten. The dealers came out and fixed themselves a plate. They ate in the pool house, much to everyone's objection.

Everyone was almost finished eating when Lorelai arrived. "I know I am late." She said loudly when she stepped out on the patio. "I had to stop by and pick up the snacks for tonight," Lorelai said.

"Mom, I already picked up the snacks. They are already set out in the pool house for the guys and the basement for the kids. The bowls in the kitchen are for the ladies." Rory said. "What did you bring?"

"Red vines, Oreos, three different types of chips, FunDip Fruit snacks, Lunchables, string cheese, goldfish, and whales. Pretzels, popcorn, regular, and cheese. Cheese puffs, skittles, sour, and regulator. Cry babies, blow pops. Cheez-its I think that is all" Lorelai said. Those that didn't know her and Rory were staring with their mouths open.

"Okay, looks like we will have plenty of juke food. Are any of you a doctor?" Logan asked. Everyone laughed.

Steph asked, "what movies are we watching?"

"I got CASABLANCA, THE PROPOSAL, ENDLESS LOVE, and ROMAN HOLIDAY," Rory said.

"Oh, those are the best," Trisha said.

"I know," Glenda said.

"Mom, what are we watching?" Chris asked.

"You have almost every kid's movie available on DVD. What you don't have on DVD, you can watch on Netflix, Prime, or Disney Plus." Logan answered.

All the couples kissed and separated, the guys to the pool house, the girls to the living room, and the kids to the basement. After watching the first movie, Lorelai declared it was time for a break.

"Everyone uses the ladies' room, this house has many if you have to. When you get back, we are going to play a game to see how well Karson knows her future husband and family. Well, family is a moot point. I'll have to take those cards out." Lorelai said.

When everyone returned with a refreshed drink, they were ready to start the game. Rory sat Karson on the fireplace hearth and put a crown on her head. "You are now the queen and we are your lowly subjects," Rory said. "Mom, are you ready? Are you going to give the instructions?"

"Okay, we have already asked Ricky the answers to these questions. Now we want to see just how well Karson knows her soon-to-be husband." Lorelai instructed. Karson sat up straight. She was positive she could answer this question without any problems.

"Oh, I forgot to tell you." Lorelai was laughing. "For everyone you miss you have to put a piece of bubble gum in your mouth." Lorelai handed her the bowl of bubble gum. Everyone was hooting and laughing. "Everyone gets to ask a question. You do hot have to go in order. You can pick whatever is left. Every time she misses a question she has to put a piece of gum in her mouth and say: I LOVE RICKY GREENE. I CAN'T WAIT TO BE HIS WIFE."

Lorelai gives the notebook to Trish to start. She looked over the questions. "Ok, Karson, can you tell me Ricky's best friend in high school?"

Karson smiled, she knew this. "Garrett" Trish nodded and handed the notebook to Honor.

Honor looks over the questions, "Okay, What is Ricky's favorite food?"

Karson smiled again, she knows this too. "You have got to have harder questions. Pizza is Ricky's favorite food."

Honor said, "Nope. Do I tell her the answer?" Lorelai nodded. "Shrimp fried rice"

Karson put a piece of bubble gum in her mouth and started chewing. When she had it chew well. Lorelai said 'Repeat your phrase."

"I love Ricky Greene. I can't wait to be his wife." Karson said while chewing her gum.

Amanda had the notebook next. "Tell me what is Ricky's favorite pastime…." Karson started smiling "to do that does not include you?"

Karson's smile faded. "Play golf?"

"Nope, reading," Amanda said. Everyone was laughing.

She picked up another piece of gum and put it in her mouth. "I love Ricky Greene. I can't wait to be his wife."

This went on for about 30 minutes. Karson answered as many questions correctly and she missed. Everyone was laughing. By the end you couldn't understand what she was saying.

Lorelai videoed it. "I'm going to make sure Ricky sees just how much you don't know about him,"

Karson spoke up. "I bet he gets more of these questions wrong than I did."

"Your own", Glenda said. "Here answer these questions and let's go see," Karson wrote her answer on the notebook beside Ricky's. Then they all headed to the pool house. Lorelai grabbed the bowl of bubble gum.

When they entered, Finn wheeled around. "No, Ladies," he said.

"Oh, but they are such pretty ladies," Ricky said. He was very tipsy. He got and hugged Karson, trying to kiss her.

"Whoa, slow your roll there." She said and stepped back. "Lorelai has a game I just played. I want to see how good you do." Karson said. Logan looked at Rory.

She smiled. "This could be a fun game one night. We could get a few couples together and see how well they know each other." Rory said.

Lorelai piped in "No, not tonight. Just Ricky and Karson. Now, Mr. Greene has a seat over here" Lorelai said as she pulled a chair away from the poker table. "For every question, you don't answer correctly, you have to add a piece of gum and repeat this phrase. I LOVE KARSON NICHOLAS. I CAN NOT WAIT TO BE HER HUSBAND."

"Sure, I can do this, how many did you miss Karson?" he asked.

"There are 12 questions, I missed 6." She told him

"Baby, I thought you knew me better than that," Ricky said.

"You are on thin ground, chili," Logan whispered to Ricky.

Lorelai read each question to him. He answered about 6 correctly and almost choked on the bubble gum trying to say his phrase.

This turned out to be a great party. Brenda sat back and watched mostly, but she realized Ricky was surrounded by family. Even if it was not blood.
