Ch 2 Getting to the Bottom of Things

"Kopa," Kiara said slowly. "Did you just say Kion was the one the hurt you?"

"I..." Kopa began, fully prepared to lie. But he was looked at the faces of his sister and the others and he quickly realized that he wasn't going to be able to lie his way out of this. "Yeah I did," Kopa admitted, looking down at the ground.

"Dude you do realize that dead lion can't hurt people right?" Nuka asked, letting out a slight laugh.

"Yeah that sounds pretty stupid," Vitani chimed in with a laugh of her own

"Nuka!" Zira scolded, giving her son a look. "Vitani! This is no laughing matter."

"Yes I must agree with your mother," Simba piped up. "This is quite serious. Obviously Kopa is having trouble dealing with his past. I know first hand how that is. And I also know the you can indeed see images of deceased family members. I've seen images of my father and he was very real. But my father was a good spirit and he only did good things. An evil spirit, such as Kion can do harm if allowed too."

"Wait so you don't think I'm crazy?" Kopa asked, unable to hide the surprise in his voice.

"No Kopa I don't think you're crazy," Simba said with a smile. "But I do think that you need to seek help for your past issues."

"I...I don't know," Kopa said.

"Talking to someone really helps Kop'," Chafu declared. "I've been talking with Rafiki about what happened with my mother getting exiled and my sister getting killed. He's really helped me."

"He's helped me too," Kiara chimed in, causing Kopa to look over at her in surprise. "Yes Kopa I've been actually talking about my feelings. And like Chafu said Rafiki has been really helping me deal with my issues. He can help you too."

"Yes and Kings know you need it," one of the lioness from the Pride muttered.

"Yes," another lioness chimed in. "Wouldn't want him to end up like his crazy mother." Simba shot the lionesses a glare and they walked away chuckling to themselves and muttering hurtful things about Kopa.

"Ignore them," Kiara whispered to Kopa as she nuzzled her brother.

"Yeah they're full of crap," Nuka said.

"Yeah I know they are," Kopa said, smiling at Nuka. "I don't let those kind of lions get to me. They're just a bunch of jerks. But if its all the same to you guys I'd like to get some rest. I'm pretty beat."

"Sure honey we'll let you rest," Jasiri said, nuzzling Kopa. With that the group dispersed, leaving Kopa alone. But he wasn't alone for long. Soon he heard that all to familiar voice in his head.

"Those lioness are right you know," came Kion's taunting voice. "You're more like Mother then you like to admit."

"No," Kopa muttered. "You're wrong. I'm nothing like her."

"Oh but you are dear brother," Kion said. "After all you helped me when we nearly killed Vitani and Nuka. In fact it was your idea. I didn't want anything to do with it. So you're even more twisted than you think."

"No," Kopa whispered. "That's not true."

"You got off to easy," Kion continued. "You deserve to be punished for your evil deed. You don't deserve to live among normal lions."

"Shut up Kion!" Kopa shouted. "Shut the Hell up! You don't know what the Hell you're talking about!"

"You'll only end up hurting them!" Kion taunted. "Especially Jasiri. You'll end up hurting her in the end!"

"No!" Kopa cried out. "I love Jasiri. I'd never hurt her!"

"You should leave now," Kion hissed. "Before you hurt someone. Or kill them. Better to leave before that happens. Or better yet you should stay. Maybe we'll get lucky and you'll kill Nuka or Vitani. Ya know finish what we started when we were cubs. Or maybe we'll get really lucky and you'll kill Simba. That way you could prove that you're not the pathetic weakling Mother always said you were."

"Leave me alone damn you!" Kopa roared. "I won't listen to you! So just leave me the Hell alone!" With that Kopa ran out of the cave, practically knocking over Jasiri and Kiara, who were coming to check on Kopa. The two lionesses exchanged looks of concern before they went after Kopa. But they were stopped by Kovu and Nuka, who were also coming to check on their friend.

"What's up?" Kovu asked. Then he looked around and noticed Kopa wasn't there. "Where'd Kopa go?"

"He took off," Kiara informed her half brother.

"He was arguing with someone again," Jasiri said, her voice filled with worry. "I'm pretty sure it was Kion. We were just about to go after him."

"I'll go," Kovu offered. Kiara and Jasiri opened their mouths to respond but Kovu held up his paw. "I know first hand what its like to be the son of Scar. I've dealt with my demons. I can help him." Kiara and Jasiri looked at each other. Then the two lionesses nodded in agreement. With that Kovu took off in search of his half brother, hoping he could help.

TLKTLKTLK

Meanwhile Kopa had reached the Pride Land/Outland border. The creamy brown lion sat down and tried to calm himself. "This is insane!" Kopa cried out getting up and pacing. "I've gotta get a hold of myself. Kion is dead and rotting in Hell with Mother. He can't hurt me. I'm nothing like him. I'm not."

"Maybe you are my dear," a voice said. Kopa spun around and to his shock he saw Tama standing there.

"What the Hell are you doing here?" Kopa demanded, glaring at the dark tan lioness.

"Just going for a walk," Tama said. "I heard to talking to yourself and I figured I'd come and say hi. I couldn't help but overhear your little predicament. Are you hearing Kion's voice? Maybe I can help."

"Why would you want to help me?" Kopa asked.

"Because rather you believe it or not I care about you," Tama declared. "I care about Kiara as well. Sharka and I have been talking about how we can help you all ever since we've been exiled. We've even talked with Safara and Chafu as well."

"Yeah Safara told us all about your little chat with her," Kopa said, rolling his blue eyes. "She and Chafu told us that you and Sharka tried to get them to turn against King Simba and Queen Zira."

"Well don't you think they deserve it?" Tama asked. "I mean they banished Sharka and I for no reason at all."

"They banished you because you and Sharka murdered my grandmother!" Kopa snarled. "If you hadn't done that then maybe Kion wouldn't have ended up so twisted and he would still be alive! But he's dead and its all your fault!"

"So I take it you won't help?" Tama asked.

"I'd sooner rot then help you you murdering bitch!" Kopa snarled, baring his teeth and extending his claws.

"I was afraid you'd say that," Tama said, shaking her head. "Now I have no choice." Then Tama looked over her shoulder and shouted, "He won't help us!" At that moment Sharka emerged from the shadows along with several other lioness, who quickly surrounded Kopa.

"So what you're going to kill me?" Kopa demanded, glaring at Tama. "Puh and you say you care about me. What a bunch of shit. But then again what can I expect from a lying murder like you!"

"I don't want to kill you Kopa," Tama said. "But you really leave me no choice." With that Tama nodded and the lionesses swarmed around Kopa, fully prepared to kill him.
