Chapter 8

Sora dodged to the side, seeing Donald and Goofy sprawled on the dirt near the edge of the arena. This guy…Sora leapt back, bringing the Keyblade up to block, staggering under the strength of the blond. He yelped as he was struck, landing on his backside in the dirt. He shook his head and then scrambled to re-summon the Keyblade, only to freeze as the massive sword stopped under his chin. He stared up into cold blue eyes, terrified, but then the sword was drawn back, the blond nodding before turning away. Sora slumped but then his eyes went wide. "Look out!"

The blond turned but it was too late and the massive three-headed dog swatted him aside even as Sora scrambled to his feet.

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Harry stepped out of the Floo and into chaos but refused to be cowed as Mrs Weasley and Hermione began berating him loudly, even as others yelled for answers. Wonderful. "ENOUGH!" the room fell silent. "I did not make Madam Bones take him in for questioning, she did that based on evidence, like law enforcement should. Get your heads out of Dumbledores' ass and use your own brains for a change. If he is arrested then it's because he broke the law. No one is above the law."

Harry pushed past the crowd and headed for his bedroom, knowing Sirius would follow and that others would try, grateful Sirius had given him a room on the family floor. He was done with pretending to look up to Dumbledore and it was about time the rest of the Wizarding World grew up. He yanked his robes off and then flopped on his bed, hearing the soft knock.

"It's open," he called.

Sirius walked in and sat on the end of the bed. "Okay kiddo?"

"Why didn't you tell me?" he asked softly.

"Tell you what?"

"Riku," Harry looked up at him.

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Sirius closed his eyes, so…he knew. "There hasn't really been time," he admitted. "And no one really knew about it. Your Dad registered your births through Gringotts, no one knew Lily was expecting twins. I knew, Riku is my heir, and Dumbledore knew. I think that's it," so few had known of the boy. "Wait here," he got up and headed to his own room. He'd managed to get into one of their old hiding spots, relieved to find the things he'd hidden there on his way to Godric's Hollow still there.

He returned to the bedroom and put the box on the bed, pushing it towards Harry. "Go on, take a look."

Harry slowly opened the box and it hurt to see the expression on his face as he saw his whole family for the first time. A gentle finger brushed over James and Lily's faces before hesitating over the toddler in Lily's arms. "Riku," he whispered.

"Yeah. He was named for a family friend who Lily grew up calling Uncle. We're not really sure where the hair colour came from though. I thought maybe it was from the Black side of the family, that he might be like Tonks, but he never changed anything. You two were inseparable. But when I got there that night, his crib was empty and Hagrid hadn't seen him, didn't know why there were two cribs," Sirius explained.

"I…I thought he was dead until after I escaped. When I contacted Gringotts, he's still listed as my heir. I swear Harry, I've been trying to find him, that's part of what I was doing when out of Britain."

Harry had to know that Sirius hadn't abandoned either of them. He'd loved both boys as if they were his own, thinking Riku was dead had hurt so much but he'd had to survive for Harry.

"Gringotts told me," Harry whispered, touching his ring finger, and Sirius was relieved to see the Potter ring there, he could use the extra protection. "And…I can feel him Sirius, I always have but it's gotten stronger lately. I…I think he's in trouble. But…why didn't he come to Hogwarts?"

"Best guess?" Sirius sighed. "Dumbledore. He wanted James and Lily to send Riku away, for his own 'safety'. I wouldn't put it past him to have meddled and kept him from receiving his letter."

"Yeah," Harry sighed, picking up another photo. "Madam Bones said you can expect her owl in the next few days, I showed them Pettigrew in my memories so she knows you're innocent."

"Thanks," the idea of being free again…Harry might be a legal adult now but Sirius would give him all the support he needed and wanted. They would find Riku and reunite the twins.

The idea that the kid was in trouble was not one he liked but the first thing he'd done once he knew he was still alive was to hire investigators anonymously through Gringotts to search the world for him.

"So, how about filling an old dog in on what happened in the court today?" he asked, moving to sit against the headboard, happy when his godson leant into his side as he began talking.

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

For the first time in days, cyan eyes slowly opened to blink up at the ceiling. Riku lay still for a moment and then sat up, looking around. It was his room at Maleficent's, where he was meant to be. He got up and stumbled slightly before shaking it off. He went into the bathroom to wash up and then headed for the dining room where Maleficent was waiting for him.

"Good morning child," she greeted.

"Good morning Maleficent," he answered as he took his seat, food appearing before him. He ate quickly and then they began his days training.

He didn't notice the triumph in her eyes as he did whatever task she gave him without questioning it. He felt cold but he didn't really notice, everything felt dull. His emotions were almost gone, his memory was intact but everything was dull and unimportant except what she wanted him to do. He couldn't even feel the worry coming down the link to the other.

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Amelia was having a very good day, even if it had started badly yesterday with that farce of a trial. She bet Cornelius was really regretting making the boy face the whole Wizengamot now that he was facing impeachment. She had her best investigators going through his and Umbridge's offices looking for evidence. Her cells were filled with those Voldemort had named in the graveyard as well as Albus Dumbledore. She would be questioning him herself today. She wasn't the only one who wanted to know what he'd been playing at the last few years.

She also had a pardon to put through for Sirius Black, kicking herself for not looking into his case more. Amelia had sent for his file last night and had been horrified by the contents, no interview, trial…nothing but the signed paperwork sending him to Azkaban for life. Signed by Barty Crouch Snr, Albus Dumbledore, and Millicent Bagnold. Barty was dead, but she'd have to summon Bagnold, if she could be found. The woman had been travelling a lot since she left the Ministry and if she got wind of the Sirius Black situation before the Aurors could find her, she might flee to a non-extradition country and they'd lose her.

Amelia also needed to organise teams to turn Hogwarts inside out and upside down before the students were allowed to return for the new school year. The school had been searched fifty years ago and the Chamber of Secrets hadn't been found so she might have to call in help from Harry Potter at least and maybe he'd know of others who knew the school even better than the teachers.

Diggory was serving as interim Minister, Weasley's name had been offered since he appeared incorruptible but he was also too close to Dumbledore. Diggory had distanced himself from the Headmaster since his son's death and after seeing Harry's memories of the way Dumbledore handled things that year he'd put even more distance between them.

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Hermione didn't know what to think, she'd seen that Harry was unhappy with most of them but she had never dreamed he'd go so far. How dare he cause the Headmaster trouble with the Ministry?! The Headmaster only ever did what was best for everyone. And he was still ignoring them, spending time in the library which was warded! It was so unfair; she was the one who needed access to those books, those that were safe anyway. Most of them needed to be locked away from everyone because they were Dark. Who knew what Harry was getting into in there and of course Sirius wouldn't listen to any of their concerns, insisting Harry knew what he was doing.

The boys weren't dumb, she knew that. But they just didn't know how to study properly, too easily distracted by unimportant things like Quidditch and chess. She tried to get them to do it properly, to spend the right amount of time, but they just wouldn't. they could do so much better! So knowing that, no, she didn't think Harry was doing homework in there, she was really worried what he might be reading.

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

"Hey, are you all right?" Sora called as he walked towards the entrance to the Coliseum, Cloud looking up at him. Sora was just glad he finally knew the mans' name.

"Yeah."

Sora stopped at the base of the stairs Cloud was sitting on, he looked…really sad. "So why did you go along with him, anyway?"

Cloud leant his head on his hand. "I'm looking for someone, Hades promised to help. I tried to exploit the power of Darkness, but it backfired." He stood, looking up at the sky. "I fell into Darkness, and I couldn't find the Light," he murmured sadly, and Sora felt bad for him, but it also hurt to be reminded of his own situation.

"You'll find it. I'm searching, too," he told Cloud who looked at him.

"For your Light?"

Sora nodded and Cloud moved closer to him, placing something in his hand.

"Don't lose sight of it," Cloud smiled slightly at him, and Sora grinned back. He turned and walked away as Sora looked down at what he'd been given before looking at Cloud's back.

"How about a rematch sometime? Fair and square, no dark powers involved," he called out, moving towards Cloud who stopped and turned his head to look at him.

"I think I'll pass," Cloud answered, but Sora saw the way his lips twitched slightly, making him smile even as Cloud vanished out the gates.

He'd see Cloud again someday; he just knew it.

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Harry tossed the paper aside, disgusted by the reporters, although they weren't as bad as Skeeter. She'd had fun dragging his name through the mud since the Tournament began but now she obviously had bigger fish to fry. There were no apologies though for everything that had been printed about him over the summer, despite the proof he was right. He hadn't expected to see it, but it would have been nice for them to actually admit they were wrong.

He rubbed his chest absently as he headed for the shower. He was avoiding the Order and Sirius was helping him, Dobby had happily offered to serve him his meals which meant he knew no one was trying to slip him something. Sirius and Dobby got on like a house on fire and he honestly wasn't sure if that was a good thing or not. It meant he spent his days either on the family floor or in the warded library and he knew Hermione was jealous of that.

He stumbled and grabbed the sink, forcing himself to take deep breaths as the cold seemed to surge, fighting the urge to shiver. What was happening to Riku? He tried calling to his brother but there was nothing. Sirius was shocked by how weak their link was when it had appeared so strong when they were babies. The only reason he could think of was that Riku was somewhere like New Zealand, as far as you could get from Britain but that didn't feel right to Harry. He wanted his brother, to have his family back.

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Aqua staggered to her feet, shivering in the Darkness. She looked around, where was she now? Where was Ven? He'd been right beside her… and Terra…oh Terra. She'd thought she'd saved him from Xehanort but now it seemed she hadn't. She felt sick, tired…dizzy. She slowly sank to the ground and then lay down, everything fading away.

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

"Gawrsh, where are we?" Goofy asked as he sat up, rubbing his head. That had been a crazy landing! He didn't blame Sora, there was no harm at all in a quick check to see if his friends were there but Donald hadn't agreed at all. He glanced up at the sky, finding the sun shining merrily above them. They seemed to have landed in the middle of a bamboo thicket.

"I sure hope Sora's okay," he frowned. They should have appeared together. Had he woken first and gone for help?

Donald sat up as well, looking very annoyed. "Aw, who needs him? We can find the king without him."

"Donald, that just isn't nice, or true," he chided. "Besides, we told him we'd help look for his friends. The King said to follow the Key, not for the Key to follow us."

"Hrmph," Donald crossed his arms and looked away.

Goofy shook his head, Donald was always so stubborn.

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Remus smiled as Sirius cheered, laughing when his friend grabbed him in a hug, actually lifting him off the ground and spinning with him.

"He did it Moony! I'm free!" Sirius shoved the parchment under his nose and Remus quickly read it. A notice of all charges dismissed signed by interim Minister of Magic Amos Diggory and Amelia Bones. There was also a note about Ministry compensation for the miscarriage of justice.

"He did," Remus agreed. He was proud of Harry, as the papers published more and more, as they questioned Hermione and Ron, even the other kids, more deeply, so much was coming out about the goings on at Hogwarts that it made him sick. To think the risk he'd posed when the night of their confrontation could be considered mild compared to what happened every other year since Harry's first was…he just couldn't see what Dumbledore was doing. Unless he weas trying to get Harry killed?

Bill Weasley had all but exploded in rage when he heard about Ginny's first year, whisking her away before Molly could stop him. He'd taken her straight to Gringotts for testing and thankfully nothing lingered from the possession but a Mind Healer had been strongly recommended. That Harry had faced a basilisk for a girl he hadn't even known…James and Lily would be so proud.

He still didn't know how to deal with something that Sirius had spoken to him of, a secret he and the Potter's had kept. Riku…Harry had a younger twin brother who was alive but no one knew where. That the investigators Gringotts had hired had yet to find something even after over a year was not good. The baby in the photos only looked like a Potter in facial features, even then his eyes and nose were all Lily, but where on earth had his colouring come from? Recessive creature blood far back in the family tree maybe? Sadly, they had nothing from when the boys were babies that still carried any scent or he'd join the hunt.

He was nervous about later; he was going to sit down and talk with Harry. Sirius had explained the teen was upset with him and Remus was upset with himself too. Why hadn't he kept in contact with Harry after he resigned? He knew Harry didn't care about his furry little problem after all. It was almost like he forgot about him when not faced with the teen…he wouldn't, would he? Surely Albus wouldn't go that far? He glanced around and then went to speak with Bill as the others congratulated Sirius. Even if things with the Order were frosty since Harry's trial, the members were still pleased that Sirius was finally receiving justice.

Remus didn't blame Harry for keeping his distance, not with how angry the majority of Order members were at him. And Snape…Sirius had banned the man from the house, had come very close to kicking the Weasley's out too but had refrained for the kids sakes. Bill's apartment was a studio so he couldn't take them in but he was working on increasing the Burrow's wards and Remus had been helping because they could see a confrontation between Harry and Molly coming a mile away and they knew that would cause Sirius to kick them out. As much as he'd always felt he owed Albus, he couldn't condone what had been happening since James and Lily died, he deserved whatever fate the court eventually gave him if he was charged. If…the papers had changed their tunes to such a degree the man was liable to be lynched for what he'd done to Harry alone, let alone the danger other students had been in, if released.

The Death Eater trials would begin on the twentieth and would hopefully be done before Hogwarts began, then again, Hogwarts might be opening late if the reports on the Ministry inspecting the school were correct.

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Riku walked through the halls of the castle, ignoring the various Heartless and they ignored him. Training was hard, exhausting, but he could feel his strength growing. Soon he would be strong enough to stop that thief Sora and save Kairi. He'd show Sora, he'd show them all. And when Maleficent took over the Worlds, he would be at her side.

He couldn't feel the sad, sometimes desperate, tugs at the weak link binding him to his twin, not that he knew that was who he could feel at times. Maleficent's magic made sure of that, not that she was aware of the link either. To her, he was simple a means to the end she desired. He was a tool and nothing more, he just wasn't able to see it with her magic controlling his every thought and action. He never noticed the knowing looks and amusement from the others who were working with Maleficent.

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Sora was surprised when Tarzan led him to a tent but followed him inside to see a young woman, older than him.

"Jane!" Tarzan called, and she spun around to see him.

"Tarzan!" she smiled widely, obviously happy to see him, and Sora shifted slightly out from behind Tarzan. "Oh, and who is this?" her expression was kind and curious.

"Uh, hi there. I'm…" he trailed off, surprised when she bent down to his level.

"Oh, you speak English! So, then, obviously, you're not related to Tarzan..."

Tarzan and Sora exchanged glances. He didn't look anything like Tarzan, did he?

"Are you here to study the gorillas?" She asked, straightening up.

"Highly doubtful," a voice scorned, and Sora turned to see a tall, stern, man with a rifle entering the tent.

He was relieved to see Goofy with him, not so much Donald, and that wasn't a nice thought.

"Sora!" Goofy called in relief and Sora rushed over, Goofy catching him up in a hug.

"Goofy! Donald," his greeting to the duck was cooler. He was still mad about their fight.

Donald scowled at him and Sora turned away from him.

"A circus of clowns. Not much use for hunting gorillas," the stranger sneered at them before leaving the tent.

Jane frowned. "Mr. Clayton, we're studying them, not hunting them. This is research," she called after him before sighing. "Well, the more the merrier. Do make yourselves at home."

"Well, anyway..."

"I'm staying," Donald snapped, and Sora looked at him in surprise.

"Huh?"

"Sora, look what we found. Look at this," Goofy held out a red gummi block.

"So that means..." Sora murmured, it looked kind of like the one from Wonderland.

"The king could be here. So, we've gotta work together to look for him. For now," Donald answered.

"Fine. I'll let you tag along. For now," Sora snapped at him before turning to Jane. "Um…do you know why Tarzan talks kind of…" he didn't know how to say it without being mean.

"Apparently Tarzan was raised in the jungle by the gorillas. Communicating with him still isn't easy, but he's learning," she explained, smiling at Tarzan who smiled back.

"So he was speaking in 'gorilla' back there..."

"Ah, that's right. You're looking for your friends?" She looked back to him, and Sora nodded.

"He said Riku and Kairi are here. And one word I couldn't understand..."

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Harry appeared for Sirius' party and the twins immediately flanked him, serving as a protective detail to keep the Order members well away from him, even their younger siblings. Sirius, Remus, Shacklebolt, and Tonks were perfectly fine with what he'd done and they'd made that very clear. He grabbed a piece of cake and some butterbeer, chatting with them all but eventually he retreated despite Sirius' sad look.

,,,,,,,,,,,,,

The two Marauders exchanged looks, they had to do something, it wasn't right that he was pushed into hiding in his own home. And it was Harry's home, at least until they could get the Cottage fixed up and warded. The Ministry never should have been able to claim it, Godric's Hollow belonged to Gryffindor's heir and that was the Potter family, those who lived in the Village only rented, no one owned except the Potters. Sirius smirked, looked like he had a job for Ted once he'd finished getting Andromeda recognised as a Black again.

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Riku smirked as the Heartless dissolved, looking at his weapon with muted pride. Soul Eater, it was a fine weapon and suited him…at least until he could reclaim his Keyblade. He wasn't sure which he preferred, using Soul Eater or magic. Soon, he'd be ready to test his skills out in other Worlds, to hunt Sora down and also search for Kairi.

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Ron was happy when the announcement was made that the start of term was delayed, he wasn't quite as happy when first Harry and then the twins were called in by the Ministry to help with the searching of the castle. Obviously Harry was using the map and the twins knew the castle well, but so did he after all their adventures! Then again, it meant more time for fun…so maybe it wasn't so bad being left out of that.

And it meant more time with Hermione without her huffing at Harry. Though she wasn't happy about being left out of the search either. He'd noticed she was becoming pretty at the Yule Ball and she wasn't really keeping in touch with Krum…who else would put up with her nagging? He wasn't sure he'd want to marry her or anything, but she'd make a good school girlfriend.

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Harry spread the Marauders map out for the Aurors and Curse breakers, seeing their amazement. He knew Remus looked completely innocent and totally uninvolved in the maps creation from where he was standing behind Harry.

"The map doesn't show every, there's nothing about the Chamber of Secrets," he motioned to the map. It does show everyone in the castle in the sections it does cover, even Animagus."

"It's still a marvellous tool, who made it?"

"The Marauders it's named for," he shrugged.

They all gathered around and began sectioning up the castle, the twins chiming in on passages not even the map had, Remus pointing out a few things too. Harry had his own job, to get a team into the Chamber to harvest the basilisk corpse and ensure there were no more surprises there. The carcass was his as the one that had killed it and he had plans for the funds; some to each victim, some to the school for things like new brooms, and the rest for investment. The Potter accounts had sat mostly idle while Dumbledore had control and Harry wanted to improve them before Riku was found. Yes, Riku was Sirius' heir but he was still a Potter and would be given access to the family money.

Sirius and Remus were very worried about Riku due to what Harry had told them he'd been sensing lately. They'd intensified the search for him but there was still no news, nothing. Next year when school let out, Harry planned to head for Australia, to see if that strengthened the bond or gave them something to work with. He hated not being able to do anything, but adult or not, he had to sit his OWLS.

TBC…

Will Dumbledore be found guilty and go to Azkaban? Who will be the new DADA teacher? Will Sora realise Riku is in big trouble? So many decisions to make.
