Can't wait for Ralph's special day either. You knew Richard would need to do something for his friend.
Railman - The answer to your review takes place in the first ten words of this chapter. No suspense there.
Part 20 Monday June 29, 2018 Tahiti
The eight hour flight went off without a hitch. Thank goodness. Everyone relaxed in the luxurious jet and felt like Hollywood stars with the service they received on the flight. Toby may have enjoyed a little too many of the beverages but who was counting. Walter had arranged for three Jeep Wranglers as their rental cars for the week. Seeing how much both Paige and Happy seemed to love them and he knew Cabe did as well, he thought they would make the perfect cars to drive around the island while they were there.
"Looks like I may have found our new president of the planning committee at Scorpion." Paige told Walter as she drew him in for a big kiss as the Jeeps were pulling up and no one else was around yet.
"I guess that means you approve of the arrangements so far?" Walter asked his soon to be wife as he held on to her and gazed into her eyes. "I want to make this week perfect for you."
"I would say they have been very much to my satisfaction. You're setting the bar pretty high mister. You gonna be able to keep it up?" She told him flirtatiously while raising her eyebrows.
"Don't challenge a genius, Paige! I am more than prepared and capable to um keep it among other things up all week." Walter playfully told her getting a very sensual response from Paige.
Paige liked this playful side of Walter. "Mmmmhmm, Mr. O'Brien, I'm going to take that as a personal challenge myself." Paige said while putting a finger on his lips.
"Take what as a challenge?" Walter asked with a mischievous smile, knowing there were some things he loved to challenge Paige on.
"You, keeping it, u-p all week." Paige said with a wink and a little grab of his backside as everyone was starting to make their way over to them. She figured she may as well get one little grab in before anyone was looking. Walter gulped and realized he might have his hands full of Paige Dineen and all her amazing parts all week long. He didn't seem to mind one bit.
"All right, we have one Jeep reserved for Happy and Toby, one for Cabe, Allie and Sly and one for the three of us." Walter told them as they were all making their way towards the soon to be married couple. Walter handed a key to Happy and one to Cabe and tried to keep the last one for himself. He started to put the key in his pocket.
"Oh no you don't." Paige told him getting a big laugh from everyone else as she grabbed the keys from Walter's hand. "Thank you, sir, but these are staying with me." She finished kissing his cheek
"Might as well get used to it 197, oww." Toby said as he felt a sudden elbow to his left kidney. "Watch it woman, that one hurt."
"As I was saying, the resort address is preset in the built in GPS in each Jeep and here is a list of some of the best restaurants and attractions on the island." Walter told them while handing out the folders he had prepared for each car.
"I'm impressed O'Brien. Hey numbnutz why don't you make yourself useful for once and put our bags in the back of the Jeep so we can get going. We got things to see." Happy said to Walter and then Toby as she started to wheel out of the airport. "See you guys back at the resort tonight."
"Well alright. Thanks Walt. I guess me Allie and Sly are gonna go grab some grub and then explore around the island a little bit too. Ralph, you want to hang out with us and get some food and drive around a while or you want to stay back with these two boring, responsible adults?" Cabe asked Ralph with a little grin.
"Is it okay if I go with them? I'm hungry and I know you guys are gonna want to go to the resort first and get checked in." Ralph said turning towards his mom.
"Of course you can go with them sweetie. You can meet up with us back at the resort later tonight. Just be safe. Have fun you guys. Sly you make sure they behave." Paige told them as Ralph hopped in the back and they took off a minute or two after Happy.
"That leaves just me and you, mister." Paige said as she turned back to Walter with a smile. "Hop in and let me buy you something to eat and if you're lucky I might let you get a little frisky with me later." She finished saying as she suggestively raised her eyebrows.
"With an offer like that, how can I refuse." Walter told her while stepping into the Jeep. "Do I get to drive at all while we are here?"
"Maybe, but only if you can keep up." Paige told him with a big smile as she put here sunglasses back on and they took off. My God, did he love that woman. He was going to make sure he got several chances to drive.
After Walter and Paige found a lovely little restaurant to have a meal at, they drove to the resort to check in and to meet with the wedding planner to go over anything that may have come up. The planner told them everything was under control, and all they needed to do was to just enjoy themselves for the rest of the week and she would take care of the rest.
Walter and Paige spent the rest of the night down on the beach walking hand in hand. As much as they liked spending time with their friends, the time they got to spend alone meant even more to them. The two of them found a small bar at one of the beaches and decided to stop there and just relax as they listened to the surf as it came to shore. Paige with a fruity cocktail and Walter with his customary water.
"Walter, I still can't believe we are here, and getting married in a few days. It's like a fairytale, and I owe all of this to you. You are truly amazing Mr. O'Brien."
"For all you have done for me over the past four years, Paige, this is just the beginning of me showing you how much I owe everything to you. And how you and your son have made my life feel complete. I didn't know what I was missing before I found you, or I should say, before you saved me." Walter told her bringing tears to her eyes.
"Walter O'Brien, you always say the sweetest things to me. While it's just the two of us out here, do you want to tell me what you have planned for our honeymoon." Paige asked with pleading eyes. "I can uh make it worth your while."
"OK, since it's just us. Once you show me what you look like in that wedding dress of yours, I'll tell you where it is we are going." Walter told her with one of his crooked grins.
"Party pooper." Paige said to him while sticking out her tongue and taking another sip of her cocktail.
"Would you settle for a trip to the art museum tomorrow? They have a few of Gauguin's most famous pieces there." Walter told her. "Maybe everyone could go with us."
"I would love that. I love it so much that I might actually let you drive us over there." She told him with a kiss on his cheek while she started to also rub her foot up and down his leg.
"R-Really?" Walter asked back after regaining his ability to speak.
"We'll see." Paige told him with a kiss just below his ear. "I love you Walter."
After they finished at the bar, they continued strolling down the beach stopping every so often to hug and kiss and just bask in the moment. Walter found a secluded spot not to far from the shoreline and took full advantage of the frisky mood Paige was in and made out with her for several steamy minutes. Twenty minutes later they were fully clothed again and walking hand in hand along the shore.
They made it back to the resort around 9:30 and found their friends all hanging out at one of the pools judging a cannonball contest between Toby and Ralph. Ralph had it wrapped up until Sylvester ran some quick calculations in his head and decided at the last minute to enter the contest and send a splash several feet higher than anyone else. The fact that Cabe wasn't paying attention and caught the brunt of the wave that exited the pool made it all the funnier as they watched him become an instant sopping mess.
Paige thoroughly enjoyed the museum on Tuesday, and she made sure to keep all the geniuses far enough away from the paintings so that none of them could even attempt to check if they were real or not. Everyone ate lunch together and then went their separate ways again and decided to meet up for dessert later that night. Ralph tagged along with Cabe, Allie and Sly again as they were going to go deep sea fishing on a chartered boat. Sly was apprehensive at first until they told him the other option was sky diving. He was the first one in the boat. Happy and Toby had decided to hike to the summit of Mount Aorai. While Walter and Paige decided to explore the Papenoo Valley. Everyone shared pictures with each other that night while they told about their favorite parts. Paige almost had a heart attack when Ralph took off his shirt and showed her a tattoo until he fessed up and informed her it was only a temporary one. Much to the initial delight of Toby until he got an elbow to his right kidney from Happy.
Wednesday, the resort had a surprise set up for them. Well Walter had set up the surprise, but no one else knew that yet. He had set up a whale watching and snorkeling tour for everyone. And it wasn't until the captain messed up and told everyone that they knew it was a surprise gift from Walter for Paige because she always talked about how she thought it would be amazing to see whales up close out in the ocean. She wasn't a fan of sharks though; one close encounter was more than enough for her.
And the captain did not disappoint, they were fortunate enough to see several humpback whales as well as several pods of dolphins. Walter even found a way to have Ralph get to captain the boat for a stretch. Paige's arms never left Walter's waist, unless it was to take another picture of the whales that were mere feet from the boat. And he received plenty of kisses from her as well. She couldn't think of anywhere else she would rather be.
The snorkeling was just as amazing. They had several sea scooter jets at their disposal when they wanted to follow sea turtles and some of the other tropical fish that seemed to be everywhere in the crystal clear water.
"This has been magical Walter. Thank you so much for planning this. You have turned into quite the planner. President of the planning committee has a nice ring to it, Mr. O'Brien." Paige told him with another big kiss on the lips.
"Spoiling you sure has its advantages, Ms. Dineen." Walter said back to her. He planned on spoiling her for the rest of her life.
"You know in a few days it's no more Dineen for me. Paige O'Brien sounds really nice, what do you think?" Paige said with another one of those smiles that did crazy things to his insides.
"Mmmhmm. Perfect, just like you."
Thursday was spent hanging out around the resort. Everyone met up in the morning for breakfast at one of the cafes that was right next to the resort. They all went their separate ways and walked through the little market that the café was in. Paige found plenty of trinkets she wanted to buy to put around their new house so there were reminders everywhere of their time in Tahiti. Walter could see how happy she was, and he walked by her side through every shop she wanted to go in and never complained once.
Walter, Paige and Ralph went back to the resort and had lunch at the beach. They picked up some sandwiches when they left the market and enjoyed a picnic lunch together as a family of three. Walter excused himself for a few minutes to make a phone call. He informed Paige it was honeymoon related and it wouldn't take more than ten minutes.
"Mom, you sure have been smiling a lot since we got here, I like it when you're happy." Ralph told her with a big grin.
"Aww, thank you sweetie, and yes I am very happy. I honestly don't think I've ever been this happy. I hope you have been having fun too." Paige asked him.
"I've had lots of fun. Tahiti is pretty cool. Can I ask you a question though?"
"Of course you can, anything you want." Paige told him as she turned to give him her full attention.
"What happens after you marry Walter? I mean are you going to change your last name?"
"I hadn't really thought much about it, honestly. Last night I actually told Walter in a few days I wouldn't be Paige Dineen anymore, I would be Paige O'Brien, and that was the first time I thought about it in a while. We never discussed changing my name though." Paige told him with a smile thinking she liked the sound of her soon to be new name more every time she heard it. "What are you thinking?"
"It's just, once you get married and if you become Paige O'Brien I didn't know if my name could get changed to Ralph O'Brien or not. I mean I like my name, but if you did decide to change your name I didn't know if mine could change also. I can research it, but I wanted to ask you first." Ralph told her liking the sound of his possible new name too.
"I think that is something we could all talk about after the wedding. Does that sound okay with you?" Paige told him, so excited on the inside knowing how much of a surprise Ralph was in for come Saturday.
"Yeah, I guess so." Ralph told her. Paige picked up on something in his answer though.
"Was there something else bothering you baby?"
"It's nothing, we can talk about it after the wedding."
"You sure? You can always talk to me about anything you know, Walter too. If there's stuff you feel more comfortable talking to him about you know you can always talk to him. I trust him completely with everything, including you." Paige told him as she rubbed his shoulder.
"I know mom. Walter has been like my dad for a long time, more than Drew ever was. He's already taught me lots of stuff and he also told me I could ask him anything I ever wanted to. Although he also told me he couldn't promise me he wouldn't blab it all to you." Ralph said with a giggle.
"Did Walter use the word blab?" Paige said with a laugh. "That sounds like a word he would never say."
"He's not in trouble, is he? Not about saying blab, I mean for telling me I could talk to him about anything." Ralph asked hoping not to have thrown him under the bus.
"No honey, he's not in trouble. What he was telling you was if it was something important that he thought I needed to know about, he would come and talk to me about it so we could both figure out what we needed to tell you. Most stuff you want to talk to him about is stuff he isn't going to talk to me about. He loves you so much and he wants to help you any way he can, just like me. You know that, right?"
"I do. Thanks mom. And thanks for always letting me hang out around Walter and the guys at Scorpion when we first met them, they taught me a lot of cool stuff. I know it used to be just us for a long time. I always had fun with you even though I didn't know how to let you know."
Paige was in tears listening to her son tell her what he did. She knew how much Walter and everyone else meant to his development, but she never knew if Ralph knew as well. Of course, she should have known that, her son was a genius. But in his own way he was letting her know now how much they meant to him and helped him too.
"From the first time Walter and the guys met you, they all knew how special you were. They all love you Ralph. I was always happy watching you hang out and interact with them. Seeing you smile around them and get to watch you blossom was something I will always cherish." Paige told him as she clutched her heart.
"Me too. And now I get to be there boss." Ralph told her smiling.
"Ralph."
"I know, I was just kidding. Although I might have to play some tricks on Toby at some point, you know, when he gets a little full of himself sometimes." Ralph told her, again smiling.
"OK, when that happens, you have my approval." Paige said back to him.
"Your approval for what?" Walter asked as he just got back to their blanket.
"Oh nothing, we were just having a secret owner's meeting without you." Paige told him with a wink.
"Is that so." Walter said with a smile.
"You get everything figured out on your call?" Paige asked hoping to get a bit of information out of him.
"I did, just a um minor flight change in Alaska that was all." Walter told her trying his best to keep a straight face.
"Alaska?" Paige said tilting her head, knowing that was not the truth.
"Have I said too much?" Walter asked her again holding in his smile.
"I don't know, did you blab too much." Paige shot back at him raising her eyebrows.
"That's my cue." Ralph said as he shot up and ran towards the ocean to jump in and cool off.
"Am I in trouble again?" Walter asked with a growing smile.
"Lots. Of. Trouble." Paige told him as she climbed on top of him after taking off her t-shirt revealing her swimsuit, giving Walter a rather enticing view of her bubbles in her bikini top.
"I um think I like being in trouble. Trouble in paradise." He told her before starting to kiss her.
"Now tell me where we are really going on our honeymoon. Before you get in big trouble, mister."
Walter didn't say a word, he was content being in trouble with his amazing bride to be.
After a few more minutes of kissing, they sat up next to each other and held hands. Paige informed him about some of her conversation with Ralph and they both were excited about their surprise for him.
"You know, you being Ralph's dad is the most special thing in the world to me. Knowing that we would have to be married first, makes it the sexiest thing too." Paige told him ending in a sexy whisper.
"Speaking of sexy, you look absolutely stunning in your bikini Paige. I um can't take my eyes off of you."
"Thank you Walter. If ah you like this, just wait for our honeymoon, some of the special things I have packed make this look like formal wear." Paige informed him much to his approval.
"Th-this w-would be considered fo-fo-formal wear?" Walter got out.
"I mean, unless there's a problem with that. And now that I think about it, if we are going to be up in snowy Alaska it might be a little cold for that. Maybe I should find some nice flannel pj's to wear." Paige told him while running a hand through his hair.
"D-did I s-say Alaska before, I-I meant um Death Valley, the um the ah hot-hottest place on earth." Walter told her impressed with himself to be able to remember anything at the moment.
"Is that so. What do you say we go hop in the ocean with our son." She told him with a small kiss on the lips.
"I like the sound of that." Walter told her helping her up and walking hand in hand with her to the ocean.
