Alan was not sure if he liked going at 'formal invitations'.
It wasn't meant to be a party, or a celebration at all- in fact, Stella made it clear to the boy that they were merely 'visiting' and nothing else. And by visiting, she explained that it was going to be her talking with the adults and him 'spending time to foster a friendship' with their child. He wasn't even told if he was going to be having a play-date with a boy or a girl.
The only thing he knew, and it was only because of experiencing it on his skin, was the fact that his formal clothes felt stuffy. They were styled after clothes once worn by stolas, but had been refitted to work well with Alan's own frame. So, being uncomfortable in his own clothes, the kid couldn't help but feel that this wasn't going to be a fun activity, especially when he was going there alone- Loona and Via were to stay at home.
It was just him and... Stella. For a while. Despite not being truly on friendly terms with the lady, he would have preferred to have her around rather than deal with a stranger that could be mean to him. Via had told him so many times that those children from her family had been mean to her, belittling her and using cool stuff to 'mock her'.
Everything happened in a blur as they got in the car. No words were uttered beyond Stella's rules, and soon they were there. Servants took him to where this friend of his was going to be, and soon he found himself in a large bedroom with a lot of stuff. Plush toys, small fortresses with cannons and fake imp-knights to play war with, and bed sheets themed about... Hot Wheels?
That last detail had him perplexed, to the point he almost failed to notice the quietly-humming Via look-alike over the bed itself. Sitting down and drawing something on paper, the child was seemingly distracted and hadn't noticed his arrival. At first sight, due to their clothes, Alan thought it was a boy. And thus, he felt a bit relieved since boys were easier to befriend if one was nice and cool enough... right?
"H-Hey?"
For a moment he thought he hadn't heard him, but Alan tensed a bit as he heard the fellow boy pause in his business and turn his attention to him. Eyes went wide open and soon, the owl-boy stood on the bed and aimed an accusatory finger back at the human.
"Who and what are you? How did you get her? I am calling my parents and have you jailed, thief!"
Alan's jaw hit the floor. "W-Wha? I am not a thief!"
"That's what a thief would say! Identify yourself!"
"I-I am..." Alan gulped nervously. "My name is Alan. I was visiting to- to befriend you. Lady Stella said- said that you would have been my friend."
Stella had told him that repercussions would have been enacted if he messed this up. Since he did, he knew that something was going to be taken from him, that something harsh would happen to him. Pain was not something he minded, but he knew Stella would have just taken Loona from them as a punishment. And now he messed up for some reason, something which made his eyes water up on the spot.
The sight wasn't missed as the demonic child paused, frowning nervously at the reaction he got from the human.
"Wait, are you- are you going to cry?"
"I-I am no thief and- and Lady Stella is going to be mad at me," Alan sobbed a bit, ignoring that the owl-boy was slowly approaching him and pausing, a mournful look on his face and then... he was taken in a hug.
"I-I didn't mean- I thought you were- you mentioned Lady Stella, is that Prince Stolas' wife?"
Alan sniffed a bit, "A-And Via's mom."
"Via as in 'Octavia'?"
"She is my friend," The tears were now forming less than mere moments ago.
"You... You are?"
Alan nodded and the fellow boy frowned.
"Oh, I... I never got her to be my friend. She always wanted to do silly things."
"She doesn't do silly things. She is just a girl."
For some reasons, that suddenly had the owl boy in a big frown.
"What do you mean 'she is just a girl'? Why would her being a girl matter this much?"
"Because most girls like to do other things than boys do," Alan reasoned, and that frown turned in a confusing one. "What?"
"I am a girl."
...
His eyes widened in surprise. "Really? But you look so cool."
Her beak opened, but the owlette paused in embarrassment at the compliment. "Y-You think so?"
"Yeah, I mean, I like Via, but she is a girl so I can't do things that normally a boy play at. You do that?"
"Well duh! I am not a softie."
Alan hummed. "There's nothing wrong with that, in fact, she is super-cute because of it."
The owlette thought about it and nodded in agreement. "She is cute."
"Still, what's your name? I told you mine."
"M-Morgan," She mumbled. "But- But wait, you want to play with me?"
"Yes."
"Even though, you know," Morgan looked quite shy for a moment. "I called you a thief, made you cry-"
"That's because you weren't told we were visiting, so you thought the worst," Alan argued, smiling a bit. "Plus... I like Hot Wheels."
Her eyes widened in delight. "You do? Which one do you have?"
"I really don't have any of those because my mom and dad never wanted to buy me things."
Morgan gasped at that admission. "But you like them, right? You played with some?"
"At the park back home. One of the kids wanted me to play and they let me use theirs."
"Park? Wait, you are a human so... how did you end up under Prince Stolas' tutelage?" Morgan inquired, tilting her head to the side. "I mean, how did he find you?"
Alan spent the visit's duration to explain the situation and tell Morgan about Loona and Via, how they were friends and how they played. Morgan was a bit sad to hear of this since she didn't have many friends, but perked up as Alan promised to come and play some more and bring up the others too.
And as the kids were interacting in a friendly fashion, the adults were...
"You want us to what?"
"I didn't stutter," Stella remarked strongly, offering both parents no mercy for what she had in mind. This wasn't a cordial visit, but an ultimatum that had them by the balls. "You will lessen the pressure on our family, or I will make sure the proof I have about your depravity is exposed to those circles that would love to outpace you for good."
Despite their grumblings, they were already faltering. Stella knew this after playing the game for so long, but it was good that she was doing so while also leaving a potentially positive taste on their mouth once the little brat was done befriending their child. She knew he was going to succeed, she knew it in her guts, and she knew the boy was going to give her good news at the end of the day.
As much as it pained to admit, she may find little Alan's persuasive methods to be most excellent in aiding her plans to protect her family and make sure Stolas didn't screw things up with his antics.
AN
Alan meets Morgan, they both are friends but this may not extend for both Morgan and Via. More to explain when they will meet.
