Chapter 8

"Um... did we miss something?" Fay asks. "And why are Brother and Mikasa crying?"

"C-Commander Erwin!" Jean and Connie gasp to see the Commander as they give the salute.

Erwin sighs as he also does the salute with them. "Good to see you two again."

"Commander Erwin... your hands..." Connie mutters.

"I know. I have been two-handed for three years already." Erwin says as he turns to Historia. "Your highness."

Historia says, "No need to be formal, Commander Erwin. I'm glad to see you back in action. May I ask where have you guys been?"

"We have been training with the anti-Titan artillery cannon." Petra says with a sigh. "I must say that it is actually hard to control, I wonder how Eren, Sasha, and even Commander Erwin manage to hit their targets. Especially the Mid-Eastern Nations' airship."

"So I was right that you were the ones who shot down the airship?" Historia asks, "We've imprisoned the soldiers of the Mid-Eastern nations and they claim that the Titans have been attacking their nations."

Colt says, "It is true that we've attacked them."

"But why would you attack them, especially with Titans? You do realize it would hinder the negotiations that we've been trying to do these three years, right?" Jean asks.

"It was just like the attack on Liberio three years ago." Sasha says, "They are preparing to declare war on Paradis, and we're not going to let that slide. The only difference this time is that we have Commander Erwin leading the attack, and we also made some strategic plans instead of just recklessly charging."

Historia says, "And I can't believe you're also into this... Big sis."

Frieda says, "I'm not going to let my sister be the target of course. That's why after the attack, I have been watching over you in the shadows. And I was right, there was already an assassin preparing to hurt you."

Fay turns to Eren and says, "Brother Eren. So this is the queen that you told us about?"

Fay does the salute and says, "It is nice to meet you, your highness."

"No need to be formal, Eren and I have been friends and allies for years." Historia says.

"So it is true that you're from Marley?"Fay turns to see a blonde-haired man talking to her. She says, "Yes, I was from Liberio. And you are?"

"Reiner Braun." Reiner says. "Like you, I was from Liberio."

Fay nods and says, "It is nice to meet you. I heard a lot about you guys from my brother. I also heard how similar the two of you are."

Reiner widens his eyes as he remembers what Eren said to him three years ago. Reiner, I'm the same as you.

"You mean Eren and Reiner are similar? That was a funny joke that I've heard." Jean says.

Colt says, "I disagree, both of them are actually similar. Reiner was usually a suicidal person until after coming to Paradis. And then they all go through the phase of completing their mission, and then having regrets."

Pieck asks, "How did you know all of this, Colt? I don't understand..."

"I had Galliard's memories." Colt says. "Are you forgetting that I'm the Jaw Titan?"

"Oh, so the memory thing was still there?" Armin asks.

Frieda says, "We can only get memories from the past holders that were dead. I might inherit the War Hammer Titan, but I didn't get Eren's memories."

"Same here, I thought I would've got Leonhart's memories, but it seems I didn't." Petra says.

Eren says, "Now that's done, Historia. I want to ask about my own faction: The Yeagerists. Are they still causing some trouble?"

"Some of them do." Historia frowns. "But mostly they're afraid that the world will retaliate if it recovers enough. They have been preparing for war and they want to make sure the Paradis Island is safe from the outside world."

Eren frowns and says, "I wonder how many of the Yeagerists really want war... They think they want to wipe everyone else out, but none of them know what that kind of war is really like. What it's like to kill so many innocent people."

Everyone stares at him in surprise, as they never hear him saying this, maybe except for the Titan shifters.

"I have been willing to die because of the unforgivable things I've done, but I was given another chance to live..." Eren says. "Founder Ymir gives me a warning. In the next year, there is going to be a giant war coming."

This causes everyone to widen their eyes in shock, Armin says, "What kind of war? What did Founder Ymir show you?"

Eren says, "I'm not going to keep secrets anymore. One of the abilities of the Attack Titan is to see the memories of the future. And I saw it... the end of Marley and Paradis... in the next year. Your negotiations failed, and the World Alliance, this time with the Mid-East Nations as the leader, used all kinds of war technologies and raze everything into nothing."

"That's..." Jean says. "Tell me that it is just a joke..."

"7 years ago. After we get to my father's basement, I witnessed the attack in Liberio and me using the Rumbling." Eren says. "I looked through all the possibilities to prevent it, but nothing could stop it from moving towards that end... and that was when I believed it was the only way forward. I was bound by the future I saw because of it."

"But that means..." Mikasa gasps. "Back before you left us, you asked me a question... did you ask me that because you want to see if things can be changed?"

Eren nods, "However, your answer was the same that I saw..."

Mikasa frowns as Historia says, "The past doesn't matter right now. So I want to ask, you said the end of Paradis was the future you've seen, have you done anything to avoid it?"

Eren says, "The attack in Mid-East Nations a few months ago was one of the deciding factors. By showing ourselves as Titans, it changed the direction of the original future."

"That's..." Armin frowns.

"However, that doesn't mean we've completely avoided the war. All we did was just try to lessen the casualties of the upcoming war, and lessen the Mid-East Nations' trust in other nations so that they won't be able to gather the allies." Eren says.

Historia sighs and says, "Eren, I know as much as you want to keep yourself hidden, I will want you to talk to the Yeagerists. If the war is unavoidable, I will definitely want you to talk to them."

Eren sighs, "I will come, however, I also need Commander Erwin and Mikasa to come with me."

"That will do." Historia says.

After arriving at Capital Mitras, a soldier informs Historia. "We have bad news, your highness."

"What's the matter?" Historia asks.

"A lot of the soldiers and citizens have been poisoned and our doctors couldn't take care of all of the patients." The soldier informs.

Armin says, "Food poisoning? But how?"

Eren says, "Where are the patients?"

After bringing Eren and the others to the Military building, they are surprised to see a lot of soldiers lying on the ground in agony. The doctors have been running around panicking. Eren stares at the military and Jean whispers, "All of them are Yeagerists that joined within these three years."

The doctors and the nurse see Historia and they bow, "Your highness."

Historia says, "How are they feeling right now?"

"We have been trying to find the cause, all we know is that they eat the same meat." The doctor says.

"I see..." Eren says as he takes out his mask and kneels at one of the soldiers. "I knew it...it was the same symptom..."

He turns to one of the doctors and says, "You're the leading doctor, right?"

"Um, yes." The leading doctor says.

Eren takes out a piece of paper and says, "I have been working as a doctor in Shiganshina and there are people with the same symptoms there. Do as the instructions to make the medicine."

The doctors and the nurses look at the instructions and they quickly leave, Eren turns to Erwin. "Commander Erwin, did you have the medicine with you?"

"Of course." Erwin says, "But that won't be enough for all of the soldiers."

"Just give me all of them, I gave the doctors the instructions so they will be working on them right away, but we can try to save as much as we could." Eren says.

Erwin nods and he gives the medicine to Eren. "Mikasa, help me distribute the medicine."

"Right!" Mikasa nods as she helps him with it. As for the others, they are stunned by what they're watching. Connie asks, "Since when Eren becomes a doctor?"

Armin says, "I know that his father was a doctor... but Eren..."

"He really is acting different from before." Reiner mutters.

After the doctors are back with the ingredients, Eren says, "Okay, I will need you guys to help me with this."

Eren has been showing the doctors how to make the medicine, and since he's working on it, he also asks Armin and Annie to help Mikasa distribute the medicine. After a few days, the soldiers are feeling better, and Historia asks the soldier, "So did you find the source of meat?"

"Yes, we traced the meat source and we found a Mid-East Spy. We also arrested him, what should we do with him?" The soldier replies.

"Throw him into the prison like the others." Historia replies.

The doctors and the nurses are thanking Eren and the leading doctor says, "Thank you for your help. Without the medicine, we don't know how to cure them..."

"It is fine." Eren says.

The Yeagerists all give the man a salute and the leading soldiers, which Eren recognizes as Louise, Holger, and Wim. Holger says, "You have our gratitude for saving us."

Eren says, "It is fine, however, I want to ask if all the Yeagerists are here?"

Wim says, "All of them are here. Why do you ask?"

Eren takes off his mask and says, "My name is Eren Yeager, and I've returned."

This causes everyone, the doctors and the Yeagerists alike, to gasp in shock. "If you want proof, here it is."

Eren takes out a blade and cuts his palm, and the smoke causes them to heal. The Yeagerists quickly give Eren a salute as Holger says, "Eren Yeager has returned to us! The power of the Titans has returned to Eldia!"

Eren turns to Historia as the Yeagerists are cheering, and Eren says, "Did I overdo it?"

Historia says, "Maybe, but you can calm them down, right?"

Eren coughs as everyone turns his attention to him. Eren says, "I'm sure everyone thought I was dead along with the power of Titans. However, I was given a second chance to live along with 7 of my dead comrades. My Titan power, the Attack Titan, has the ability to see the future, I saw the future of the Rumbling, which is why I asked Floch to help me form the Yeagerists. And right now, my ability shows me an upcoming danger happening in the next year. So I want to ask, are you guys ready to give your hearts to eliminate the upcoming threat?"

The Yeagerists roar in unison, and at the sidelines, Jean says, "Unbelievable... to think he manages to persuade the whole military..."

"Eren basically saved their lives after all." Annie says with a sigh.

Erwin and Mikasa are standing by Eren's side showing a small smile.
