Chapter 10

"So how do we get into this kind of situation?" Eren sighs as he is now sitting behind the bars with Fay, Erwin, Petra, Colt, and Mikasa.

"Maybe because in the eyes of everyone in Marley, we are still people who can turn into Titans." Erwin sighs.

"And your sin of trampling 80% of the population doesn't help." Mikasa says. "But Armin has been trying to talk to the military."

Armin says, "That's why they are here. It is true they are Titans, but if they want to get rid of us, they won't need to help us win the war against the Porzellan Nation. And besides, don't you get it, it is because of them that some of you are still sitting here."

"But what if they're just trying to gain our trust and then backstab us in the end?" One soldier says.

"And what if other nations are going to attack us because of them? They are devils that can't be trusted!" Another soldier says.

"That's enough." Muller says. "We exploited hatred. We kept feeding our resentment. We even thought our hate would save us... We dumped every problem caused by our shortcomings onto an 'island of devils'. And the result... was the birth of that monster... which has now come to return our hatred upon our own heads. However, the monster returns, and instead of returning our hatred to our own heads, they decide to help us by healing our soldiers and stopping the Porzellan Nation from harming further of our port."

Then he continues, "Besides, Marley was once a global superpower because of the power of the Titans, which we stole from Paradis Island. If we work with the power of Titans, we will be able to have a chance to fight back against our enemies. Therefore, we should release them."

Everyone doesn't say a word and Armin is delighted.

After getting out of the prison Marley, Eren says, "I'm glad you've managed to persuade them."

Armin says, "Considering you're the ones who saved Liberio's port from the attack of Porzellan Nation. Though you still have to wear these if you want to walk in the streets..."

Eren stares at the Red armband and says, "This is the Warrior Armband that I heard about in Marley, huh?"

Colt says, "I never thought I would be wearing this considering I only had yellow and grey before."

"But I heard that wearing these might cause a lot of prejudice for Eldians a lot of years ago, are you sure it's fine?" Petra asks.

"Don't worry." Reiner says, "Red Armbands means that you're honorary Marleyans. It won't be a problem."

After getting to Levi's place, they are having tea they sit around the table. Falco says, "Big Brother... why didn't you tell us that you're alive? Dad and Mom will want to see you again."

"I'm sorry, but considering I'm one of the 8, I don't want to cause any trouble for you guys..." Colt says.

"But how? I thought all of the power of Titans were gone..." Gabi asks.

"The Titans are truly gone except for 8." Eren decides to explain. I wasn't supposed to live after using the Rumbling, but I was revived along with 7 others, and each of us got the power of the Titans. The reason why we were alive was because of the upcoming war next year."

"The war?" Levi asks with an unimpressed expression.

"We aren't sure what that means, but it might be the end of Paradis and Marley at the same time. So far we know the Mid-East and the Porzellan Nations are wanting to declare war on us..." Petra frowns.

"But still, I can't believe you're alive..." Levi says to Petra, who blushes a little. "Is that so..."

Falco turns to Fay and asks, "So you're Eren Yeager's sister?"

"Technically I'm not." Fay sighs. "I was supposed to be Eren's aunt. But because of our ages, it will be nice if I called him my brother instead of my nephew. I heard a lot about you, Falco. You're a nice person."

"Is that so?" Falco asks. "But then again, if you're Eren's aunt... then that means you're also War Chief Zeke's aunt as well?"

"Zeke..." Everyone flinches at the name, and Levi says, "Speaking of him. I managed to fulfill my promise to you, Erwin."

"I know. You beheaded him." Erwin says. "I've heard everything from Eren and Sasha."

Levi frowns and says, "I'm sorry... back then, I just decided that you needed to rest and left you to die...when I could've saved you."

"I know, both Eren and Mikasa are guilty about the whole thing, we've talked about it a lot of days ago." Erwin says. "I've messed up back then and led everyone to die. I'm just happy that you chose Armin. If I had to pick someone to be saved over me, Armin would be one of the top candidates."

Armin says, "T-Thank you..."

Annie says, "So what are you guys planning to do right now?"

Eren says, "I'm going to visit my grandparents, the last time I met them, they have been living in regret."

"Regret, huh?" Eren asked. "You have regrets about your own family?"

"There's not a day that I won't. That day, my son took my daughter outside the walls. It's because I was too strict about him becoming a doctor!" He was panting and began to yell. "It's my fault! Everything is my fault!" He grabbed his face and screamed, while Eren just watched him.

"So my Mom and Dad are still alive..." Fay smiles.

"Not really..." Pieck says, "They have been bid-ridden for these years. I'll bring you guys to them."

"Thanks, Pieck." Eren says.

Mikasa says, "I'm coming with you."

"Of course." Eren says as they leave together.

Jean stares at them and says, "Since when did that suicidal bastard act that differently toward Mikasa?"

"I guess it is fine for us." Armin says. "Eren deeply wants to be better for Mikasa, after all the suffering that he did to her..."

Gabi remembers the restaurant and she says, "I can tell...I was there when I saw him hurting you two..."

"He wanted us to hate him just so he can paint himself the villain to save the whole world from Titans..." Reiner shakes his head with a small smile.

After arriving at the hospital, Eren and Fay manage to get to Dr. Yeager's bed. They hear Fay's mother passed away three months ago, and her father was about to join her. They are sad at the news.

Once they get to Dr. Yeager's bed, Fay stands at the bedside and says, "Father..."

Dr. Yeager slowly opens his eyes as he sees Fay in front of his bed. "Fay... Fay is that really you..."

"Yes, Father... it's me, Fay..." Fay doesn't know if her father is just having imagination or not, but she decides to play along.

"Fay...please forgive me... I was too harsh on your brother... I..."

"Father, I forgive you." Then Eren decides to step beside Fay, Fay whispers to him, "What the hell, brother?"

"I have my father's memories since he was the Attack Titan before me. I'll play along for him." Eren says.

Mikasa and Pieck can only watch in silence as they watch how Eren and Fay are talking to Dr. Yeager.

"Grisha... even you're here..." Dr. Yeager says.

"Father, I don't hate you for what happened. It is my fault that Fay was killed by Public Security. Zeke... because I was harsh on him, I never thought of him as a son but a weapon for me..." Eren says in Grisha's voice. "If only we can turn back the time...I'm glad Zeke saved you and Mother..."

Fay says, "Father... I'm glad you're able to live in a world where Eldians aren't hated anymore. And I'm glad I'm able to see you again... along with my brother..."

Dr. Yeager has tears in his eyes, and he says, "I always... wanted to see you two again... I'm glad..."

Just then, much to their sadness, Dr. Yeager closes his eyes and the electrocardiograph shows that his heartbeat was 0.

"Father..." Fay holds his hand, which is starting to get cold, she breaks into tears as she cries, Eren gives her a hug and mutters, "Rest in peace... Grandfather..."

Mikasa and Pieck can only stare at them, they also have tears in their eyes. At least Dr. Yeager manages to see his children again before his death.

After giving a small funeral, Eren is now sitting in his father's old lab. Mikasa asks, "Do you want to talk about it?"

Eren nods and says, "Sure. Thanks to Sasha, she manages to get Zeke's memories. And it is because of it I can tell you everything about my brother Zeke."

At the same time, Levi, Petra, Colt, Falco, Reiner, and Gabi are watching from outside. Eren says, "When Zeke was born, my Father never really cared about him like how he cared about us. Instead, he treated him as a tool for revenge, a tool for the Eldia Restorationists to overthrow Marley."

He lowers his head, "My father and my stepmother never gave him any love because of their work in the Eldia Restorationists, and he was never good at being a Warrior Candidate compared to others."

"How cruel..." Mikasa frowns.

"It is until he met the former Beast Titan: Tom Xaver. He gave him what my Dad and my stepmother couldn't give him: Care and love as a family... he taught him how to pitch, which was why he was a good pitcher." Eren says.

Just then, Eren starts to cry. "He has tried very hard to become a Warrior, but he couldn't keep up with the others and he had been worried that he failed, it didn't help after hearing that Marley was close to finding out the Eldia Restorationists. He tried to persuade my Dad to stop, but he failed... and for fear of being caught by the Public Security and turned into pure Titans... he was forced to turn in his parents to secure his status in Marley's eyes as a loyal Warrior. That way, our grandparents would be safe..."

Mikasa hugs Eren, as he cries into her arms. "His mentor Tom Xaver was also suffering. He married a Marleyan woman, and after she found out that Xaver was an Eldian, she killed their own children before killing herself. Because of the suffering of the children... Zeke planned the Euthanasia plan. That way, no more children would need to suffer as he or Tom's children did...and it was because of this goal that he started to surpass other candidates, and eventually he becomes the Beast Titan..."

"But it was still wrong..." Mikasa says. "To make us unable to reproduce..."

"I know..." Eren says. "That's why I have been trying to gain his trust, he may have the Royal Blood, but it is me who has the Founding Titan. And I said I didn't want to sacrifice Historia, and it was true."

As for the others that are listening to Zeke's story, Falco says, "War Chief Zeke...we all thought he was a traitor..."

Reiner says, "At least we know his backstory... back then he refused to tell us anything about his past... though I never thought it would be this cruel..."

Levi says, "I still can't forgive him for how many people he killed... but at least I understand what he's gone through..."
