Chapter 11

Eren and Mikasa are still sitting at Grisha's old house, as Eren continues his story about his father. "Now I talked about Zeke's story, I should tell you about my father's story."

Mikasa nods as she asks, "It was just the same as we found in the basement, right?"

"I read those books, there are some things that are still missing from the books." Eren says. "They only talked about the Titans, Marley, and also some important things."

He takes a breath and says, "After Fay's death, my father has been angry about the system in Marley. No matter how my grandpa and grandma tell him the same thing that Karl Fritz believed, my father doesn't buy into this. After becoming a doctor, he met a man named Kaspar Grice. He was the leader of the Eldia Restorationists."

The information brings Falco shock, "Uncle Kaspar?"

Colt says, "Yes, Eren told me everything about it. And it is because of him that we want to become Warrior Candidates..."

"There was an informant in the Public Security Association of Marley, and we called him the Owl." Eren says. "He gave the Eldian Restorationists the weapons, the funds, and even Historic documents about how we Eldians contribute to the world. Eventually, he also brings someone with royal blood into the restorationists, and that is Dina Yeager."

"Zeke's mother." Mikasa finishes.

"After the Eldian Restorationists are found out, my father was tortured and then sent to Paradis Island along with all of the other Eldian Restorationists. Eventually, all of them are turned into Titans, including my stepmother." Eren says, giving the hysteric laugh. "It was really ironic... to think my stepmother is the one who killed my mother and Hannes..."

"Eren..." Mikasa frowns.

"My father was next, and he recognized the officer that tried to inject him, it was the same officer that killed Fay. After recognizing him, the officer decides not to inject him, but rather throw him off the wall so that the Titans can devour him."

Mikasa widens her eyes in shock. "But that means..."

"Eldians that are sent to Paradis aren't always turned into Titans, they pick some of them to turn into Titans, and some of them just throw them off the wall so the Titans below can devour them..."

Those from outside hear this and they feel sick, they have heard about the punishment, but they never thought it was cruel.

"When my Dad fell into despair, the Owl finally showed up and killed all the soldiers from Marley. The Owl's real name is Eren Kruger, and he is the Attack Titan."

"Eren Kruger... that was the name he used when he was spying on us four years ago..." Falco says.

"I see why he chose that name..." Petra says.

"The owl was the one who turned my stepmother Dina into a Titan. Because of her royal blood, it will be better if Marley doesn't have their hands on her." Eren says, "Even though the Owl was the Attack Titan, he was also in his thirteenth year."

"The curse of Ymir..." Mikasa mutters.

"Yes, and he gave my Dad the final mission of the Eldia Restorationists. Go inside the walls and take the Founding Titan." Eren says, "By doing so, he gave him the Titan that he owned. The Attack Titan."

Mikasa nods and Eren continues, "The Attack Titan has a lot of special abilities. They are similar to the Ackermanns, they are immune to what the Founding Titan can do to them, and they have the power to see the future. We of the Attack Titans have been seeking freedom all these years."

Gabi says, "Hold on, Reiner, you said that back then, Marley has 7 of the 9 Titans, but didn't the Attack Titan also in Marley? How come the military back then didn't know this?"

Reiner says, "That is also a good question...maybe because this Owl betrayed Marley and they decided to exclude it?"

Eren says, "Mikasa, do you know what the Owl said before having my father devour him? He said this. If you want to save Mikasa and Armin, you must complete your mission."

Mikasa widens her eyes and says, "How did he know our names? Was it because of the future memories?"

"Yes. The Owl saw my memory." Eren says. "He wanted my father to find someone in the walls and get married, that's why I will be able to be born in this world. And it is thanks to Commandant Shadis that my Dad managed to meet my Mom and got married."

"Commandant Shadis?" Reiner asks in surprise.

"It's true." Levi says. "We met him right after we overthrow the old government."

"Since my Dad is a doctor, he often gets inside Wall Sina so that he could find where the Founding Titan is located. Eventually, he found the Reiss Chapel, the place where you guys saved me and me being such a crybaby and wanting Historia to eat me..."

"You shouldn't say that to yourself, Eren." Mikasa says. "But then again, that was also one of your motivations to do the Rumbling right?"

"Yeah. I thought I was useless all the time, because of me, all of our comrades were killed, and you guys also have to kill more people to save me. That's why I wanted to use Rumbling to protect you guys..." Eren says. "My father found the place, but he decided to delay his mission since he remembered how cruel he was to Zeke and he didn't want the same thing to happen to me..."

Eren stops, and Mikasa says, "If you want to stop talking, I won't force you..."

"No, I should continue." Eren says. "When my head was shot by Gabi back before I could control the Rumbling, Zeke and I talked in paths, he wanted to show me how my father had been brainwashing me, and he forced me to use my powers to go into my memories. And because of the Attack Titan, my father always thought that Zeke was nearby."

Eren says, "And then the day when Bertolt broke Wall Maria... when you told my Mom that I wanted to join in the Survey Corps, he intended to bring me to the basement and learned everything, but it didn't happen... the thing is... I had a chance to have Bertolt eaten by the Titan that ate my mom...but I used the Founder's powers to switch the direction."

"Why would you do that?" Mikasa asks with a frown.

"I thought it was not time for him to be killed, however, such a foolish act caused my mother to be killed instead..." Eren says. "A part of me is angry at myself, but another part of me is relieved." Eren says.

"How could you say that?" Mikasa asks.

"If my mother was still alive, I would never join the Survey Corps, and when Dad gave me the Titan, who knows what would happen in the end..." Eren says with a frown. During that day when Wall Maria broke, my Dad was actually going to complete his mission to take the Founding Titan. Frieda Reiss was the Founding Titan, and because of her Royal Blood, she was bound by the vow of renouncing war. That's why my Dad turned into a Titan and ate her, gaining the Founding Titan's powers."

Eren holds his head again, "My Dad couldn't kill the other members of the Reiss family... when Zeke showed me this part of the memory, I was the one who forced him to do it..."

Mikasa gasps in shock, and so are the ones outside. Eren says, "I didn't control my Dad, but I kept telling him to remember Fay, remember Dina, remember his comrades in the Eldian Restorationists... and that happened."

Eren looks at his hands and says, "I've never seen my Dad being terrified of me... he kept asking me if this is the only way to save Eldia, and by seeing Zeke, he told him to stop me from using the Rumbling, he kept apologizing to him...and..."

Mikasa says, "But if he wanted to stop you, why would he still give you the powers of the Founding Titan and the Attack Titan?"

"He didn't have time left, his 13 years are up, and the memories of Attack Titan forces him to do this. The Attack Titan might be seeking freedom, but they are also slaves...slaves that are bound to the memories that they saw..."

Mikasa hugs Eren and says, "Eren, you're not a slave... you're not following the future that you saw right now... you are free..."

"I know...and I'm still sorry for calling you a slave..." Eren says. "I know I can't be forgiven because of that... but I still want to make things up with you."

"I know you will." Mikasa says. "I'm glad that you tell me everything about your father..."

"I'm glad..." Eren says.

"What are you guys doing here?" Back outside, Fay and Erwin find all six of them outside of Yeager's residence. Petra says, "We're just worried about Eren and Mikasa. And I think we managed to hear the story about Grisha Yeager instead..."

"After hearing this, I just don't know how to feel..." Gabi says. "I used to hate him because he killed Zofia, Udo, and those in Liberio, but after hearing the whole story, and the fact that Eren has memories of both the past and the future shifters... he must be in pain as well..."

"That might be true." Erwin says. "Maybe we should just go inside."

After the others are inside, Eren and Mikasa notice them and Eren says, "Oh, you guys are here as well..."

"Brother... how are you feeling right now? After my father's death..." Fay asks.

"I never got to know my grandfather or grandmother because they lived in Liberio all this time while I lived in Paradis all this time. The only time I got to meet him was when I was spying here. He just wanted to stop me from asking Falco to send letters to my comrades." Eren says.

"Yeah... I think I've heard him telling me about this." Gabi slightly glares at Falco, who slightly flinches.

"Eren... I want to ask you... what were you thinking when you activated the Rumbling?" Levi asks.

Eren sighs, "Reiner, did you remember I told you we're similar?"

Reiner says, "I remember, why?"

Eren says, "You might ring a bell in these words... T-Tell me who! Who the hell would want to kill people by their own choice?! Who the hell would like to do this sort of thing?! Do you think I wanted to do this?! People hate and despise us… Someone has to be the one to do it. Someone has to be the one to stain their hands with blood."

Reiner widens his eyes as he remembers the words, Mikasa says, "Those words... that's what Bertolt said when he and Reiner tried to kidnap Eren..."

"I didn't understand what you mean by that until we know Marley and the world outside of the walls." Eren says, "It was worse when the world decided to declare war on Paradis... that was something we couldn't avoid...all I want... was my friends and the people in Paradis to live with freedom without Titans..."

"I see..." Levi says with a sigh, and everyone doesn't know what to say anymore.

And here is a new chapter, and I decide to talk about Grisha's past in this one, back in the Season 3 of the anime, the past only appeared as Eren's memories, he didn't really talk about it to Mikasa or Armin. So I decide to let it come clean. I hope you like this chapter.
