Found out she follows my stories and I follow her reacts lol! Thanks for loving what I do. Guys you are why I write, and I will be here til ya'll tell me you are tired of Samcedes hahaha

Mercedes sighed, her heart racing as she and Sam drove to Quinn's clinic to find out what they were having. He seemed to be distracted these last two weeks.

"Sam?"

He looked over at her. "Yeah?"

"You okay?"

He shrugged. "Yep. I am great."

Mercedes snorted. "You are a lot of things, Sam, but great, wouldn't be it? Are you upset because all you got was this new Hawaiian shirt for your birthday today?"

Sam looked down at the shirt and sighed. "No, it's weird to have a Hawaiian shirt and not be in Hawaii."

"Well, considering I don't have money to fly you to Hawaii and you don't have the time, you could wear the shirt and let us both dream…also maybe I wanted you to consider it for our honeymoon."

Sam let out a scoff of his own. "Honeymoon? That's still happening?"

She watched him as he pulled into the parking lot. "Uh yeah, why wouldn't it be?"

He looked at her. "You tell me?"

Mercedes shook her head. "Look, I know with the baby, it might be a little less sexy time and more mommy and daddy time, but I would still like to do something."

"Uh huh." he said.

Mercedes hopped out of the truck, wearing her own Hawaiian-style dress, and made her way to the door. She stopped and turned towards Sam. "Look, it's clear to me something has crawled up your butt, but right now, we are about to find out if we are having a son or a daughter, so how about you lose the attitude."

Sam threw his arms up in defeat, and Mercedes led them inside. They were back in a room within minutes, and Mercedes was nervously chewing on her bottom lip.

Quinn smiled, walking into the room. "Hello. How is mommy doing?"

Mercedes smiled. "Mommy is ready to find out what she is having."

Sam nodded. "Me too."

Quinn moved over to them. "Well, let's not keep you waiting." She moved closer, sitting on the stool as she squirted the gel onto Mercedes's belly. "Have you been having any cramping or pain?"

"Just a little, nothing that sitting down and taking a break couldn't fix. This little one is my alarm for when I am doing too much." Mercedes laughed.

Quinn nodded as she looked at the screen. After a few moments, she smiled. "Everything looks great; the baby is growing well, and there doesn't look to be an obstruction. Are you sure you are ready to find out?"

Mercedes took Sam's hand and squeezed it, nodding. "Yes. We are ready."

"It's a girl!" Quinn squealed, and Mercedes wiped her eyes, staring at the screen.

"A girl… Sam… it's a girl."

Sam looked down and kissed her forehead. "A beautiful daughter…."

Quinn printed out the photos. "I want to see you back here next week, now that you are moving along; I want to see you weekly and remember any pain, any at all, you come to me immediately or call, and I will come to you." She handed them the photo. "I will give you two a minute."

Mercedes took the photos and smiled down at them. "A girl…I can't wait to meet her and teach her so many things."

Sam stared at the photo. "Wow, I always wanted a daughter…."

Mercedes took Sam's hand. "This is everything I ever wanted."

Sam nodded. "This is everything. I hope it lasts."

"What does that mean?"

Quinn walked in smiling. "I set your appointment up; you are good to go."

"Thank you, Quinn," Sam said, walking towards the door. "I am going to get the car."

As Sam walked out and Mercedes looked at Quinn. "You are gonna make it tonight, right?"

"You guys are my last patients. I am gonna get changed, then head over. Thanks for inviting me. I appreciate it."

"I like you, Quinn, and it's clear you and Sam are still friends; of course, you are invited. I am gonna have him run some errands, and then we will show up, and Sam will get the surprise of his life."

Quinn nodded, opening the door for her. "See you in a little bit."

Mercedes looked over to Sam and frowned; he had been awfully quiet ever since they left the hospital.

"Okay, Sam, please tell me what's wrong?"

Sma looked at her and then back to the road. "Nothing, let's just go home."

She sighed. "I know you. I know something is wrong. We went shopping for our daughter, and you barely said a word. Are you angry we are having a girl?"

"What? No! I couldn't be happier, more proud."

She looked at him as he parked the car. "So it's me? Are you mad about not having a party? Sam, you said you didn't want one, besides we are going to dinner with your family after I drop all this off."

"Yes, it's you!" He said, slamming his car door, walking towards the front door, and entering his key card. "I heard you; I know you are planning on taking my money and leaving me. I can't believe I trusted you!"

Mercedes stepped back. "Wait, what? Sam, what are you talking about?"

They walked to their front door. "You have been secretive and hiding things from me the last two weeks, and I overheard you saying that it's a lot of money and you can't wait until it's over."

"Sam, you misheard…."

"I am done, Mercedes! I will not let you make a fool out of me like your parents said! We are done!"

"Done?" She questioned.

"Yes, done! It's over! We are over!"

Sam turned and unlocked the door. SURPRISE!

Mercedes frowned, placing her hand on her stomach. "I was throwing you a party…." She said, running out of the room as a couple dozen eyes fell on them.

"Shit," Sam said, running his hands through his hair.

Sam tried to make his way to the room, but with every step he took was met with another guest. Mercedes had gone all out with her Hawaiin theme. All his teammates and friends waiting for them, and he had to embarrass both of them by breaking up with her.

Sam finally made his way to the bedroom, only to be stopped by his mom and sister.

"Idiot!" Stacey breathed. "You gave me that big speech about how much you loved her, trusted her, and then you dumped her for throwing you a party?!"

"I didn't know she was throwing me a party." Sam defended. "I thought she was trying to leave me and take my money…."

"Sam, what would make you think she would leave you? Hurt you?" Mary asked.

"I...I met with her parents, and they said some things…and then she was acting weird, hanging up when I entered a room…I thought…"

"Yeah, you thought you couldn't trust her, but did you even ask her about it? Or just jump to conclusions that were wrong."

"Stacey, give your brother a chance to speak. I am sure he asked her about it."

Sam ran his hands through his hair. "I…I screwed up. I need to talk to her."

"She's in there with Quinn and Tina; yeah, she invited Quinn; I was so wrong about her, Sam, and so were you; you better pray she takes you back. Because if I were her, I wouldn't."

Sam moved past his mom and sister and walked into the room to see Tina and Quinn sitting on the bed and Mercedes packing.

Tina stood looking at Sam. "What are you doing in here?"

"I want to talk to Merce."

"Well, she doesn't want to talk to you."

Sam moved towards Mercedes. "Please talk to me."

She looked at Sam for a moment but shook her head, turning away from him.

"I didn't know you were doing all this, Merce. What was I supposed to think with you sneaking around?"

"You were supposed to trust me! Trust that I wouldn't play with you! Trust that I wasn't who my parents said I was! Trust that I loved you enough not to hurt you!"

"I was stupid!" Sam admitted.

"Damn right you were! But none of that matters; you broke up with me in front of your family. You broke up with me just like that…like I meant nothing to you."

Sam moved closer to her, and she put her hand up to stop him. "Sam…go enjoy your party."

"I can't…not knowing you are in here like this."

Mercedes looked at Tina, and Tina nodded, moving in front of Sam. "You need to leave. Now."

"Mercedes, please. Please don't do this."

Mercedes turned away from him and moved towards the closet, grabbing her things and stuffing them into her bag.

Sam grabbed her bag and took it from her. "You aren't going anywhere."

"I am! We are no longer together! We are nothing!" Mercedes yelled. "How could you think that I was using you! How could you think that I-" She stopped holding her stomach.

Quinn moved closer to her and sighed. "Sam, you need to get out of this room now."

Sam stepped back as he watched Quinn move Mercedes to the bed.

"Merce, I am sorry. I am really sorry. Please forgive me." Sam begged.

"GET OUT!" She screamed.

"Mercedes, you need to calm down; your daughter needs you to remain calm for her sake."

"Daughter? You guys are having a girl?" Tina gasped.

"Sam, go out there, enjoy the party Mercedes set up for you; let me take care of her, and maybe later, she will talk to you."

Sam took one last look at Mercedes before walking towards the door. "I love you." He said before walking out of the room. Heading to the living room, he was stopped by his dad.

"So you stepped in it? That's what your mom is saying. What did you do?"

Sam frowned. "Accused Mercedes of using me when all she was doing was planning my birthday party."

Dwight smiled. "You stepped in, jumped in, and fell in it."

"I know! I am really just…I don't know what I am supposed to do. I screwed everything up. I broke up with her out of stupidity, and now she is leaving and angry."

Dwight smiled. "We all have moments when we screw up; it's how you fix the problem that will determine how you come out of it."

"I don't think there is any fixing it. I embarrassed her. I know only a few people know what happened, but that's too many people."

Mary walked over to Sam placing a hand on her shoulder. "It's time for cake."

"I am not really in the mood for cake."

"Really don't care. Your future wife, my future daughter-in-law, hopefully still worked on this; for your party to be perfect, you will go out and pretend everything is okay. Now."

Sam huffed, walking towards the living room as Mike and his dad carried a big cake out. Sam frowned, looking at the tropical-themed cake. It was a joke between them, and if he wasn't in his head, the Hawaiian theme shirt she gave him should have given him the idea that she was doing something special for him.

As everyone started to sing happy birthday, Sam looked up to see Mercedes walking out of the room with a bag. As all eyes were on him, he watched as she, Quinn, and Tina slipped out the door.

"Make a wish." Someone yelled from the crowd, and Sam caught Mercedes's eyes before she turned and left. He blew out the candles, making a wish that he was going to pray, and the wish came true. Wished that Mercedes would forgive him.

Mercedes sighed, arranging the bouquet of flowers Sam sent. Every day for the last two weeks, another set awaited her as she exited her hotel room. She didn't know how he knew where she was, but at least he wasn't at her door. With each bouquet came a note. She still hadn't been able to talk to him; it hurt too much.

She called his mom to keep her updated on things and made sure Quinn called Sam after every appointment. Sitting on her bed, the door to her hotel room opened, and she sighed. "T you really need to stop coming here just to eat fried chicken."

"What? I mean, who said I was here to do that?" Tina asked, hiding her bag behind her back.

"I smelled it the moment you came onto the floor." Mercedes teased.

"I brought some for you too." She said, moving to the bed. "I see Sam sent another bouquet."

Mercedes nodded. "Yeah, every day. I don't know why he's doing this; he is the one who dumped me."

Tina pulled the food out and took a drumstick, biting into it and moaning. "I'm sorry, Mike refuses to let me eat fried food!"

Mercedes shook her head, taking a piece of chicken.

"Merce, he made a huge mistake, we can all agree on that, but at least he's trying to fix it."

Mercedes rolled her eyes. "A few flowers can't fix what he broke."

"I know; let's talk about something else. Like how my son and your daughter are destined soulmates."

Mercedes laughed. "You are seriously gonna make this a thing aren't you?"

"Yep. We are gonna make sure they are always together; I think they will probably get married around 20 or so." Tina said.

Mercedes shook her head. "You are ridiculous, but I love ya."

"It's my charm. But for real, are you ever gonna forgive Sam?"

Mercedes sighed. "I don't know. He broke my heart in a way I swore I would never let a man do. And he doesn't trust me. I knew meeting my parents would cause an issue, and it caused him not to trust me."

Tina reached out to hold her as tears fell from Mercedes's eyes. "Sweetie, it's okay."

"No, it's not. He thought I was going to hurt him. Use him, just like I thought he would."

Tina wiped the tears from her eyes. "Sam loves you, and he really does."

Mercedes sniffed. "Love doesn't matter when you don't have trust. And we don't have that."

Tina nodded. "I get that I do, but in the end, you need to realize that you are carrying his child, so you have a choice to make."

Mercedes nodded. "I know; I am just not ready to deal with any of this. He broke my heart. And I don't know if I can trust him with it again."

Tina hugged her. "When is your next appointment with Quinn?"

"Tomorrow, and he is gonna come this time."

"You just have to be strong until you know what you want to do."

Mercedes nodded, holding onto Tina. "Is Mike okay with you being here a lot? Even if it is just to eat fried chicken."

"And to be with my best friend. I'm here for you always." Tina said.

"I know. I know."

Sam glanced at his watch; he was counting the minutes until he saw Mercedes. He had been trying to give her space, but he missed her. Missed her touch, her smile, her laugh. He missed her staring at him while he was reading next to her. His place felt empty, and it was a reminder of what an idiot he had been.

Sitting in the waiting room, he watched the door open, and disappointment befell him as another woman who wasn't Mercedes walked in. Checking his time, he grew worried; she was due here in 10 minutes, and she was usually early.

The door opened again, and his heart stopped as she walked through, looking even more beautiful than he remembered. She wore an oversized shirt that clung to her stomach and breast and a pair of yoga pants. Her hair was in a low ponytail, and she walked towards the front to sign in, then turned and spotted him before frowning.

Sam stood as she moved towards him. "Hey."

Mercedes offered him a nod as the nurse called her name. Sam tried to take her hand, but she pulled it away, walking in front of him, and Sam sighed, watching her slightly waddle in front of him.

Sam saw in the chair as Mercedes sat on the table. Quinn walked in, and he truly got how far apart they were. As Quinn asked her questions about her diet and pain level, he hadn't realized how sore she was.

Quinn looked at Mercedes. "I am really worried about your blood pressure Merce. You've brought it down, but it's still considered high. Are you still at the hotel?"

"Yeah." She said softly.

"Merce, you are getting up there in months, and I am not okay with you being alone; anything could happen. I am gonna need you to stay with Tina and Mike or something."

"She can stay with me." Sam said.

"No, that's not gonna work," Mercedes said.

Sam looked at Quinn. "Can you give us a few minutes?"

Quinn looked at Mercedes, who nodded, and she walked out of the room.

"Sam, I am not moving back in with you; you broke up with me; we are not anything anymore."

Sam stepped closer to her. "You are still my daughter's mother, and I am worried about you."

"Worried about me? Worried about the woman who you think betrayed you. How gentlemanly of you." She spat.

Sam sighed heavily, running his hands through his hair. "Baby."

She cut her eyes at him. "Don't."

Sam moved closer to her. "I will never be able to tell you how sorry I am about all of this. Merce, I let your parents get into my head. Everything was so good with us; it felt like the shoe was bound to drop."

Mercedes looked down to the ground. "You didn't trust me."

"I trust you; I have always trusted you. I was just…stupid. Please forgive me; take me back."

"Take you back? Are you kidding me? Are you serious? Sam, we didn't have a mutual break because we needed time; you embarrassed me, and you let me down you!" She stopped closing her eyes and holding her stomach.

"I'm sorry, I am so sorry, Mercedes, I was stupid; you are the most amazing woman in the world, you've made my life better, and without you…I'm sorry." Sam said with tears in his eyes. "Forgive me, please."

Mercedes didn't say anything for a few moments, and Sam reached over to her and held her stomach as he placed his forehead against hers, knowing that she needed to remain calm. "Just breathe, Mercedes. Just breathe."

Mercedes exhaled, relaxing under his guidance.

"Please let me take care of you. My season is over, and you need the help. I promise you can stay in my room since it has its own bathroom, and I will take the guest room that we were gonna use for the baby."

Mercedes looked at him. "Okay…but you have to make me steak because I really want some steak…like really badly."

Sam smiled. "Done. Done and Done whatever you want."

She looked at him. "We aren't together."

Sam nodded sadly. "I hate it, but I understand. I just wish I trusted us."

Mercedes sighed. "Well, let's just focus on her; she doesn't even have a name."

Sam lifted Mercedes's face to his and smiled, staring at her. "I bet she's gonna be just as beautiful as you are."

Mercedes blushed. "Sam…"

It's the truth. You are everything I want in a mother of my child."

Mercedes swallowed as his hand caressed her chin. "Sam, I…"

He nodded. "I know." He whispered, leaning in and kissing her softly.

Mercedes pulled back. "Sam, I…"

He nipped her lips. "I'm sorry I just miss kissing you so much."

Mercedes nodded. "I miss you too, but I need time to trust you again."

"Does that mean I have a chance to prove it to you that I'm sorry?" He asked with a hopeful smile.

"Get me my steak, and maybe we can talk about it."

"Sure thing," Sam said, kissing her forehead, feeling better than he had for weeks.
