Holes
The Second Hole
*This story takes place a year after Stanley and Zero are released from
Camp Green Lake.
Camp Green Lake didn't close and reopen as a Girl Scout camp. It closed
but the warden is still living there and she is angrier then she has ever
been.
CHAPTER 1
Zero and Stanley ran down the street chasing after the bus. Finally
after about five minutes of running they stopped. This was the third time
this week they missed the bus. They had moved and ever since they
started school they thought every one was out to get them. Even the bus
driver didn't like them. It wasn't really their fault that they missed
the bus. They would sit out side at the bus stop and the bus driver would
always drive by. The bus driver was an extremely old lady and often she
would open her window and give an evil laugh or say they weren't worth
it.
Stanley and Zero walked slowly back home. They hoped that if they
walked slow enough they would miss most of the day and wouldn't have to
face every one. Suddenly they stopped. A Blinding light was coming from
up ahead. Barely able to see they walked forward wondering what was
causing it. As they got closer they saw a large golden chest. The sun was
reflecting off it and was causing the bright light. Uncertain of what to
do Stanley walked up to the beautiful chest and opened it. It was full of
gold coins. Stanley turned and looked at Zero. They were both
speechless.
Suddenly a car came rushing towards them. It stopped just an inch in
front of them. Zero and Stanley stood up and were just about to run of
with the chest when an angry looking red head stepped out of the car.
She walked over to the boys and grabbed them by the collars.
" I have got you know my little children," she explained. The woman
let go of the boys and ran off as she heard police cars coming down the
road. The warden was back and she was ready to take back what Stanley had
gotten. The old chest of gold that was dug up their last day at Camp
Green Lake. The chest that Kissing Kate Barlow had barred a hundred or
more years before. Now the warden was back to get it. Stanley and Zero
just stood there as the warden drove away. They new that they would be
seeing her again. They new that they would be seeing her again and real
soon.
