That night in a lab at Oscorp; Octavius was doing tests on his four limbed harness which was upgraded from the prototype that was given to Mac Gargan and so far they were working wonderfully allowing him to multitask on four projects at one. Stillwell went up to him and asked "how is being 8 limbed like an octopus like Otto?"
Working perfectly with nothing but positive results if you would check on the results of my neural interface Dr Stillwell; helps that I wasn't injected with OZ mixed in with an unknown alien substance." Octavius retorted not looking happy with the octopus joke but it turned into a smirk with the later part of his statement making Stillwell glare at him.
There were grunts heard as they looked to the chamber where Gargan was restrained with the TV on the news talking about how just earlier Spider-Man had apprehended the recently paroled Herman Schultz the Shocker in a new advanced suit he had gotten his hands on somehow. The footage taken from cell phones showed Schultz attacking an armoured car robbery when Spider-Man rushed in to confront him. He was dodging his blasts and the footage got the audio of him quipping "You got a cooler suit Shocker; that's neat but you should probably expect a cease and desist from the NYWF as I think they own the copyright off your name and suit...".
This got Schultz even angrier as he was sending blasts at him and Spider-Man ended up getting close enough to knock him out from the back; then toss him over to the police before swinging off before they could apprehend him. This was followed up by a poll report showing that Spider-Man's approval rating for the civilian population was improving.
Gargan snarled and thundered "that Spider-Man... All that attention belongs to me and me alone! I am supposed to be out there and be known as New York's superhero!"
Stillwell shook his head and sternly told him "well you were the idiot who ruined it for yourself! Even if we didn't have to do more tests to see what the substance in your bloodstream may do to your psyche; you decided to rob from a jewellery store which had to be covered up, we need to make sure that you behave yourself..."
However there were error reports in the computers as Gargan used his fury to break free from his restraints much to Stillwell's surprise and horror as Gargan then used his tail to pierce through the scientist's body. Octavius had a calm look on his face as he stepped back and used one of his robotic limbs to sound an alarm.
Gargan powered through security and the staff in his way as then broke through the nearest window and climbed right down, just like his first escape from Oscorp. He ran to get as far away from possible and hiding behind a wall he noticed a bald headed man in a leather jacket and yellow shirt coming towards an ATM machine.
He looked as the man then got out his hands and it was sparking with electricity; Gargan was then in awe as he saw him used it to malfunction the machine and then got a bag ready to claim the money flying out. "That was amazing..." Gargan yelled with a grin and the man jumped in surprise and looked panicked upon spotting Gargan.
"Oh man... You're the Mayor's Scorpion... I don't want any trouble..." The man muttered stepping back and Gargan saw that he had a star shaped scar on his face.
"Don't worry... The hero business doesn't pay well and doesn't get me the respect that I deserve... I see you use your electric powers to just take what you want which is what I want to do... How about we team up?" Gargan asked and the man didn't look sure.
"How can I trust you..." the man asked as Gargan then used his tail to tear apart the ATM machine to see if there was anymore. "I will give you a chance I guess, I will take you to my boss but any sign that this is a set up and I will fry your circuits!" the man warned showing electricity in his hands and Gargan nodded.
"What's your name?" Gargan asked as he started to follow the man.
"Max Dillon but the boss gave me the codename Electro." the man replied.
It was the top story in the morning that Gargan had escaped from Oscorp and had murdered Doctor Stillwell; Mayor Jameson had to make a statement disavowing his deputised superhero and put out a warrant for his arrest.
"Can you believe that the Mayor and Oscorp were not too long ago promoting this guy but now this happens? Plus with all that money that had bene wasted putting together that Scorpion suit; Old Man Osborn must be embarrassed" muttered someone in the halls along with others as Harry walked through the halls not exactly happy.
"Harry... are you alright?" Peter asked hesitatingly knowing that Harry must not be thrilled about how embarrassing this must be for Oscorp and a bit for him as he was singing the praises of Gargan when he was first revealed as the Scorpion. Harry grumbled and Peter decided to ask "about our tutoring session today? You think that it would be alright if I bring Debra and Grady over? We can turn it into a group study session?" Peter asked and Harry calmed himself down.
"Okay sure Pete..." Harry said as Flash came over and patted him on the back.
"Looks like you will be having a nerd party at your place Osborn..." laughed Flash as Sally came and took his arm.
"Don't make a scene and give attention to the dweeb." Sally told him dragging him away with Liz nearby shaking her head. Peter and Harry then went through the door to their first class.
In a criminal hideout Gargan was with Dillon as they were waiting to see the boss; "So Dillon; how exactly did you get so electric?" Gargan asked and Dillon sighed.
"I used to be an engineer at Oscorp; one night right before my shift ended I was made by my foreman to fix this malfunctioned panel. Right above this tank filled with eels that they injected some sort of OZ juice. I felt the pain of my electrocution; I woke up in a morgue and I escaped... I found out about my powers and I did these little cash machine thefts until the boss found me. I got recruited and a place to stay." Dillon explained looking angry at having to bring up his old workplace.
"Looks like we both had that OZ juice put into us and not too happy with our former bosses at Oscorp. How long had you got your powers?" Gargan asked as Dillon gave a grin.
"About six months if you can; working down low and off the radar without a fancy costume and no attention drawn to myself. No fancy robberies and I don't get the police or now even Spider-Man after me." Dillon explained as some men said the boss was ready.
They then followed into the office where at the desk was an elderly man in a business suit, longcoat and bowler hat who had his hands together. "Hello Mr Gargan; I am flattered that New York's official superhero wants to quit and come and for me. Gustav Fiers at your service." the man greeted as Gargan looked at him. "I must warn you that if I am to let you into my organisation then I need to see that you are serious. We studied your suit and found no tracking signals which is good but as to show your loyalty: you need to complete a task to show that there is no going back. I want you to kill Mayor Jameson." Fiers stated as Gargan grinned.
"Is that all? Expect to read his obituary in tomorrow's paper!" Gargan replied without hesitation.
A limo ride brought Peter, Harry, Debra and Grady to the Osborn family penthouse and Debra and Grady were in awe; Peter had gotten the same warning from May about being careful as when he first came here. She would be busier than usual at FEAST as Martin was taking some time to recover from his ordeal at Roxxon Plaza.
They were walking through the halls of the penthouse and Grady was excited as he was running through the halls; "we are in a rich people's house... The home of Norman Osborn himself!" Grady said looking like he was about to faint as Peter put a hand on his shoulder to calm down.
"Yes please Grady calm down; if we break anything then I can assure you that me having money or me having free time will end as soon as my parents get a bill." Debra said as they continued on but there was an office door slightly open and Harry had them stop.
"Come look; if you would be quiet and promise not to say anything then I can show you something..." Harry whispered as he sneaked through the door and Grady followed after dragging Debra and Peter in by their arms as they weren't sure. Harry then picked up form a desk some sort of silver robotic mask with a mouth shape that looked like a Halloween face like smirk. "It's a prototype combat mask that Oscorp is working on..." Harry explained with a whisper as they thought that it looked cool.
Harry gave it to Peter who hesitatingly put it on and was blown away by the fancy heads up display as it was scanning the area and saw a figure signature walking behind the wall. Peter quickly gave it back and said that he thinks someone is coming. They went out and Harry closed the door; "I do hope that your new friends just got lost going to your room and you went in to correct them Harry." chided a stern voice and they were nervous as they turned to see that right behind them was Norman.
"Off course dad..." Harry replied with an innocent voice.
"Come on now Mr Osborn; give them some slack as kids will be kids. Dad here has stories from when I would sneak into his personal office when I was younger." said a voice and they turned and were surprised to see Mayor Jameson with his son John giving them a smile along with the Mayor's security detail with them.
"Colonel Jameson... You are awake and in a suit... Like a superhero..." Grady muttered shocked and Peter was a little nervous looking at the Mayor; the biggest critic off his alter ego who wanted him hunted down.
"Should we call him Colonel Jupiter or something?" Debra gave a whisper to Peter as they had a snicker.
"Yes; John my boy here has awakened but the effect of spores from the Promethium-X required him this suit that Mr Osborn here graciously had his company build for him. A real hero who never needed a costume." Jameson said after a cough as John took their hands to shake. "Nice to meet young future voters." Jameson said giving a smile taking their hands to shake and Peter was nervous as it was his turn.
Then they heard sounds outside and came to a nearby window outside and there was Gargan smashing cars; "Mr Mayor; I know you are in here! Come on out and face me or else I will come in there and destroy anything or anyone in my way to get to you myself!" Gargan shouted as Jameson glared at him.
"You want me Gargan? Give five minutes; I will be out that front door!" Jameson shouted much to their shock. "Get everyone out here from whatever else exit there is! J. Jonah Jameson doesn't back down wherever it is gangsters wanting to scare me off from a story or failed superheroes!" Jameson told his security detail and then rushed to the stairs to take the front door as John went to try and stop his father.
Norman then turned to the security detail to let them know of a safer exit for them to take and they were led out; Peter said goodbye to his friends as they told eachother to be safe getting home. Peter however went to find a place to change...
Jameson had his arms stretched out after coming through the front door to face Gargan. "Here I am Gargan; I must say what a disappointment and wast you are but I should have expected that! I knew all about your crummy appalling record on the force and I gave you this chance to make something off yourself but you wasted it! You were a failure as a cop, as a superhero and you couldn't even take care of that arachnid!" Jameson shouted without fear and Gargan growled as he lunged at him causing John to push his father out of the way.
Gargan then had his tail being grabbed and pulled by Peter in his Spider-Man suit who was webbing up the eye area of his helmet; "You could just be like everyone else and put in a two week's notice!" Peter joked and Gargan roared as Peter had to dodge him charging at him; including a car that John ended up catching.
Gargan managed to grab at Peter's leg and push him to the ground; he was about to punch at him when he was tackled by John wanting to him. John ended up managing to hold Gargan in a bearhug for Peter to punch at Gargan's helmet and then his face knocking him out.
The civilians started cheering as Peter faced John and said "thanks for the help Colonel! I appreciate it; despite what your pops thinks of me!" Peter then gave a salute as he web slinged off as police arrived and Jameson watched with an idea in his head.
"Look at the people cheering for you John; with what happened to you... We could turn it into a blessing; you acting as a hero who doesn't need to hide behind a mask or his identity! Someone to protect the people from the freaks that have started to appear in our fairy city!" Jameson told his son as John looked at the cheering people.
"I will give it a try pops..." John answered and Jameson grinned as he waved while posing next to his son and got him to wave as well.
"Consider yourself replaced Gargan..." Jameson whispered watching as Gargan was taken into custody by the police officers.
Later at Oscorp Tower; Octavius was following one of the top company executives Rajit Ratha a serious looking Indian man in a black suit to a lab where they were working on the Flight Tech technology that had been acquired from the buyout of Toomes Aerodynamics. "Now that the Scorpion project is a bust; Mr Osborn has let me know to immediately move you to here where he has a different idea on applications of the technology than Toomes had. He trusts that you and your arms will give fast results." Ratha told Octavius showing him blueprints to create a flight glider.
"Tell Mr Osborn that I said thanks for this new assignment. I will be sure to make sure that I don't fail so badly that I lose my life like my dear friend and colleague Dr Stillwell unfortunately had." Octavius said and Ratha then left him. Octavius grinned as he thought to recent events:
In a recent meeting Octavius was in Norman's office discussing the negotiations for Octavius' new contract as his old had was expiring. "Mr Osborn; this is quite unacceptable for a man of my IQ and all that I had done for this company!" Octavius protested as the details in the new contract was quite frankly absurd for Octavius; not as much credit for his work and designs than before and expected to do more work for the same amount of pay. No royalties for new projects and inventions and Norman would have full say in everything.
"Take it or leave it Otto." Norman said simply as Octavius grew furious.
"That attitude could lead you to lose someone of my calibre to a new workplace!" Octavius retorted as Norman shook his head.
"You are welcome to work somewhere else once your contract expires if you choose not to sign this Otto and I will wish you the best of luck... However I feel that I must remind you that all of your work, your prosthetic arms and everything you have brought to this company are all legally Oscorp's property." Norman replied and grinned at the look of shock on Octavius's face which turned to forced acceptance as he took the contract and signed it. "Glad that we could come to an agreement Otto." Norman smirked.
"This is how I get treated; I have been with Oscorp since he started it... He would hardly get started if it wasn't for my brilliance... I will show him..." Octavius whispered to himself as under the pretence of checking on the restrains he was actually sabotaging them to make them easier to break; while also taking the time to disable the tracking chip in Gargan's armor.
"Let's hope you enjoy the knowledge of all that money wasted on Gargan..." Octavius thought to himself as he went to work.
Peter was at home as on the TV; Mayor Jameson had an impromptu press conference at city hall where he had his son John unveiled as New York's new official superhero Colonel Jupiter. "Yes Mr Mayor because that worked so well the last time..." May muttered causing Peter to snicker as she was checking on him to make sure he was alright. "I can't believe you were in that penthouse when that Scorpion guy made that threat! I can't lose you like I lost Ben; if this continues then you can forget about being allowed to go back to the Osborn house." May told Peter with worry as he tried to calm her down.
"I am alright Aunt May; we were let out safe and besides Colonel Jupiter was there to make sure that Gargan was taken care of!" Peter responded thinking that this should be much better than when Gargan was active; true Jameson will want his son to join in the Spider-Man manhunt but John seemed reasonable so they could be working together more...
Funny enough despite ending a chapter with Schultz being handed his new suit and thinking the Shocker needs a Heel turn as if he would be a major player again; him being defeated again is an afterthought. Well he works better as a minion or a minor threat; not someone who could headline being the main threat of a major storyline. His biggest accomplishment is probably in the Superior Foes of Spider-Man where he manages to completely beat the Punisher (minor villain or not his powerful gauntlets would be a big edge against non powered people without advanced equiptment even if they are a former soldier with a heavy armory) and ends the series as the head of the Maggia.
Electro off course has his PS4 appearence; same as the Oscorp prototype combat mask. You know the one that they decided to put in for some reason; not like it's some sort of hint for a sequel game or anything...
