That night I sat in the chair, staring at the dark brown wall, decorated with paintings and shelves full of knickknacks. I planted my feet in blood red carpet underneath me and quietly snuck out the door, so not to awaken Watson. In dark cycle of stairs I began walking upwards until reached another door that had been slightly left open. I went inside and saw before me a dimly lit washroom. I dunked my hands into the washtub on the table and looked at my reflection. As the water sprinkled down my brow I saw in the reflection a woman. Brunette, naked, standing behind me. I turned around to apologize to her, but she was not there. I faced the mirror again, as if it had been calling me. The woman was closer. Her slender hand around my waist. I felt her breathe touch my left ear. Her lips caressed my neck and her mouth widened. That is when I saw the fangs in her mouth. Shocked, I turned away from the mirror. The woman was gone. I quickly stepped out of the washroom and back into stairway. As I did so I saw Helsing heading down the stairs, just behind the door. He looked as if he had seen a ghost.

"Holmes, I must talk to you."

Back in the room Helsing, a tired Watson and I decided to skip sleeping for the night and instead investigate the castle walls. Watson on the other hand was not so eager to accept the idea of roaming around the castle.

"I don't think we should be putting our noses into anyone else's business." said Watson, hesitantly.

"I'm afraid at this moment we must Watson." I reply, walking towards the bed, letting Watson know how serious I am.

"He is right." said Helsing, getting Watson's attention "We must find out everything there is to find out about this place."

"And what if there's nothing to find out?" asked Watson, rather loadly.

"Work with us here Watson." I said, placing my right hand on my partner's left shoulder.

Watson looked up and at Helsing and then to I and then his slumped to the floor.

"I suppose..." started Watson, rubbing the sweat off the top of his bald head and slipping his shoes on "Where would be the first place we look?"

"First..." I answer, turning towards the wall behind me "First we check the kitchen."

Downstairs in the kitchen hidden behind the curtain in the dining area, Watson, Helsing and I searched around for clues to give us information about the castle and what secrets it held.

"I don't understand why we must investigate." cried Watson "I'm getting too old for this kind of thing."

"Please Watson. There is something about this castle that just... unsettles me." I said after looking inside the upper cabinets.

"If we're lucky..." started Helsing "We may find a useful weapon in here."

"A weapon?" questioned Watson "A weapon against what?"

"I'm thinking possibly the demons that scour the entire premises." I answer, getting looks from both Helsing and Watson.

"You've ran into one I assume?" asked Helsing.

"I have." I answer, spotting a wooden stake on the counter behind Helsing, which he had picked up and immediately put down "We should keep looking."

Helsing, Watson and I kept searching the kitchen until I picked up the stake on the counter and rammed it into Helsing's heart.

"Holmes, what are..." yelled Watson after hearing Helsing's screams.

"Stay back Watson." I command, watching Helsing slump over the counter tops as blood dripped from his mouth.

The man writhing in pain before us suddenly transformed into a woman. The same woman I saw in the washroom mirror. She fell onto the white floor, now splattered with blood. I carefully inched my way towards her body, gripping the stake and pulling it straight out of her heart with ease.

"Is she..." muttered Watson, who looked as if he didn't know what had happened, which he most likely didn't.

"I saw this woman in the mirror in the washroom earlier." I tell Watson, wiping the blood from stake with my coat "I had a feeling we were being led into a trap."

"Do you mean..."

"Yes Watson, it was not Helsing that brought us here. It was her."

"So you knew this wasn't the real Abraham Van Helsing all along?"

"I did."

"But how did you figure it out?"

"I've heard of Abraham Van Helsing before. He was a doctor, just like you. I've heard tales certain colleagues about a doctor that hunted the undead. Knew all there was about them. So on our way up here to the castle I kept wondering, why would someone who is such an expert on the undead and the supernatural need us?"

"I never thought of that." said Watson "That must be how you guessed his profession so easily."

"Yes, but I purposefully left one thing out."

"And what was that?"

"The fact that he was a doctor. Personally I'd figure he'd slip it in somehow. That made me question if it was the real Helsing or not."

"But I don't understand why this... 'woman' or whatever she is would disguise herself as Helsing and bring us both here."

"I do." I answer, taking out my pipe, filling it and lighting it.

"You do?" asked Watson.

"Yes." I say, looking down at the dead demonic woman "She was following orders."

"You mean from.,."

"Yes. From Alucard."

It was then Watson and I heard a loud knock that sounded like it was coming from upstairs.

"What was that?" asked Watson, frightened.

"I think that means I made a correct assumption." I joked "Come Watson. Let's look upstairs. I would like to find out more about this host of ours."
