10th Chapter people!
Hiccup's POV
"Hiccup, just let me go back home" she said, pulling away from me, trying to put the stingy medicine on her blood crusted knuckles. "No, not until you have fully recovered." I argued, nevertheless failing. She too eventually gave up, too tired to argue.
She sat back down on the couch giving her hand to me, as she let me caringly wrap the fresh bandages around her hand. Every time my hands brushed against her wound, she let out suppressed whimpering cry. Once it was over, she let out a deep sigh and let her head lean against the sofa.
I saw her shivering violently and her wrapping her arms around herself to provide some heat. I immediately ran to get some furs. I dumped all of them onto her as she scrambled to reach for the newfound heat. It really was cold, but the reason for her shivering was immense blood loss and that deep wound of hers. So, I did what had to be done.
"Move over" I said. "What?" she asked, confused. "Body heat helps with cold, remember?" I said, a slight red creeping onto my face. "Oh" that was surprisingly all she said as she gave space for me to sit. I plopped onto the couch as she gave me some of her furs.
She still seemed angry when she moved as far away from as possible from me on the one-seater couch. Despite all the shivering she crossed her arms turning her face away from me. I wanted to say something, but didn't know what. Finally, I remembered something.
"You really scared me last night; I know you don't want to tell me what happened but why did you come to my house when you should have sought medical attention? What was so important that you had to tell me?" I asked, worry wavering in my voice.
Her eyes suddenly widened, almost like she remembered something very important. "I almost forgot! Right! I have a plan to get the book of dragons back!" she said, almost excited, almost. It was as if she had just remembered she was angry with me that her face went back to a scowl. "The idea was that I can cover my hair in soot to look like Heather and by some means get the book back." She said, the scowl not leaving her face.
"The idea is great but it sounds very dangerous. What if the outcasts hurts you. I can't take that risk." I spoke. "I'll be fine, I can handle this. There is not much risk, it'll just be me that you lose, doesn't really matter." She spoke, each one of her words squeezing the hell out of my heart. "Astrid, you mean the world to me, losing you is something that I can not even imagine" I said, almost argumentatively.
She somehow seemed amazed, trying to say something but unable to. She chose not to say anything and let the peaceful silence continue. Finally having the courage to, I slid a little closer to her and immediately regrated it as I felt a sharp pain on my shoulder. "This plan is the only way; I will leave before dusk whether you like it or not" she said.
I couldn't pay attention to what she said, all I could do was look at the blood on my shirt tracing it back towards her hand. "Astrid Hofferson! Stop punching people! You are not letting your wound heal!" I fake scolded her as she let out a light chuckle.
I redid her bandages and sat back down on the sofa. "Astrid, seriously you have to let the wound heal. It was just last night you got hurt and now you want to go through with this awfully dangerous plan!" I spoke. "I know but I have to leave today or else it will be too late; the outcasts may figure out how to train dragons and use them to attack us. I have to go" she spoke.
"I know, I know. At least wait till nightfall, you can leave after you get some rest." I said, pleadingly. "Okay, I admit I could use some rest." She spoke. I smiled at her but the smile faded when she didn't return the same.
"Okay, bundle up now, you are shivering more than Fishlegs when he is spooked!" I said, as I gave her the furs I had. She lightly smiled as she wrapped herself in the blanket. She moved towards the corner and patted the space beside her. "Body heat helps with the cold." She said, shrugging her shoulders in a rather unknowingly manner. I felt my face heat up at the repetition of my own words that I regret saying and slowly sat down next to her.
The somewhat pleasant silence continued for what seemed hours when I felt something lean onto my shoulder. I turned towards the figure beside me, finding her head resting on my shoulder with her softly closed eyes and calm expression. I slowly smiled to myself as I rested my head on hers and let myself fall asleep.
I'm not really confident about this one so please let me know your feedback. Thank you so much. Hope you enjoyed!
