A/N Hello my loyal readers I'm back.

So sorry for my long hiatus I've been going through some things with my work life but now I'm back on track.

Anyway I hope you all enjoy the new chapter and more will be on the way.

On with the story!

Disclaimer: I do not own Avatar The Last Air-bender or it's associated properties.

About a month had passed since Aang's supposed "death" and the Gaang in that time had gotten a lot of things done.

The Earth King had decided to live a life of poverty after he realized what a privileged life he had been living. So, the King got a change of clothes, a pack of supplies, then left with his pet bear Bosco and they haven't been seen since.

They met up with Katara and Sokka's father Hakoda along with Bato and some other Water-tribesmen.

Along with the Water-tribesmen they had picked up some of Jet's old freedom fighters most notably Pipsqueak and The Duke.

They had all gathered and managed to steal a Fire Nation Battleship along with some current uniforms and were currently sailing towards the serpents pass and into the Fire Nation to prepare for "The Day of Black Sun."

However, inside one of the many rooms of the ship someone who had been asleep for the past month began to stir.

xxLine Breakxx

The sleeping form of Aang could be seen on a cot in his room on the ship.

Aang had bandages wrapped around his back and torso while being shirtless. The only clothing on his person being his torn yellow pants.

Suddenly though, Aang's eyes snapped open, and he shot upwards out of bed before looking around trying to get an idea of his surroundings.

Aang grimaced in pain as he sat himself on his cot before saying "What happened?"

However, Aang's head snapped around the room and his eyes widened in shock as he noticed the multiple Fire Nation emblems placed everywhere.

Despite his injuries Aang stood up while exclaiming "Oh, no!" before he noticed his staff was next to his cot and grabbed it.

Aang then used his staff as a cane as he made his way to the door of the room and opened it.

Aang quickly glanced around the hallway and saw no one was around before he started to make his way down the hall.

As he walked, he grunted in pain as he used the walls and his staff to keep him from falling over.

Just before Aang reached the end of the hallway he heard a gruff voice say, "You hear something?"

Aang glanced around the corner and saw two Fire Nation soldiers, one who was very large while the other one was very short.

Aang quickly ducked behind the wall and took a deep breath before he gritted his teeth and came out from his cover while using his staff to launch a wave of air at the two soldiers.

The two gasped in shock as they were blown back a bit before the larger of the two shouted "He's awake!"

Aang quickly ran down the hall ignoring the pain surging through his body as the soldiers chased him shouting "Stop! Wait!"

Aang climbed the stairs leading to the deck of the ship but once he was outside, he tripped dropping his staff as it clattered in front of two more Fire Nation soldiers and surprisingly Momo.

Aang raised an eyebrow at his pet lemur-bat hanging out with Fire nation soldiers before he curiously said "Momo?"

Momo quickly leapt at the prone Avatar and started to lick his face.

Aang was further surprised by the sound of a familiar blind Earth-bender shouting "Twinkle-Toes, that's got to be you!" shouted Toph as she and Katara ran towards the injured Avatar, both wearing red cloaks.

Katara smiled wide before she hugged Aang and stood back while saying "You're finally awake!"

Aang looked at her and everyone dressed as Fire Nation soldiers before he asked "Are you sure? I feel like I'm still dreaming."

Suddenly someone ran up to Aang and started to hug him so tight he couldn't breathe before the person let him go and said tearfully "Aang! I'm so glad you're ok! I was scared you wouldn't wake up."

Aang took a step back and saw the one who was hugging him was Dijin only he looked a little different.

Dijin had let his facial hair grow out giving him a small brown mustache and goatee and Instead of his signature robe, he was wearing a Fire Nation commanders' uniform with streamlined shoulder pads and a red sash to signify he was of high ranking.

Before Aang could question the Lava-bender a Fire Nation soldier approached him wearing a helmet and with a distorted voice he said "Aang, good to see you back with the living, buddy."

Aang hearing the familiar sounding voice said questioningly "Sokka?"

Aang suddenly felt lightheaded as he groaned and started to fall over.

Toph sensing Aang's condition quickly said "Uh-oh, somebody catch him. He's about to-"

Toph was cut off by Aang falling to the floor but luckily Dijin acted quickly and caught him before he hit the ground and gently sat him down on the deck of the ship.

After waiting for few minutes Aang began to stir again before Katara helped him sit up while the others gathered around the two.

A Water-Tribe warrior came over and handed Aang a brown robe to keep the night's chill off him as the Air-bender spoke up asking "Why are we on a Fire Nation ship? Why is everyone dressed weird? And why am I the only one who's completely lost here?"

Katara held up a hand as she said, "You need to take it easy, o.k.?" Katara looked away for a second before she said, "You got hurt pretty bad."

Aang just frowned sadly while hugging his chest feeling all the bandages that were on his body.

Katara gave him a small smile before she pointed at his head and said, "I like your hair."

Dijin spoke up from next to her and said "Yeah, it really suits you."

Aang gained wide eyes before exclaiming "I have hair!?" Aang reached up to the top of his head and sure enough he now had short unkempt brown hair with the tip of his arrow tattoo peeking out on his forehead.

Aang put his hands down before he looked at his friends and asked, "How long was I out?"

Dijin answered him saying "About a month."

Aang simply looked shocked as he said, "A month?"

Suddenly a man in his late thirties walked up to Katara asking "Everything ok?"

Katara just gained a hard look and turned away from the man and said angrily "We're fine, Dad."

After hearing that, Aang glanced upwards to get a better look at Katara's father.

Like almost everyone there he was wearing a Fire Nation uniform but he wasn't wearing a helmet allowing Aang to see his features, he had a rugged looking face, he had dark skin like most Water Tribesmen, black hair that went to the back of his neck with a small upwards ponytail along with two braids going down the right side of his head, he had a small pointed beard without a mustache on his face, and he had blue eyes like his children.

Katara's father walked up to Aang and bent downwards while extending his hand for the Air-bender to shake as he said "I'm Hakoda, Katara and Sokka's father."

Aang was about to grasp the man's hand before Katara pulled him away and angrily replied "He knows who you are. I just called you "Dad" didn't I?" she finished her response with a glare at her father.

Hakoda just took his daughter's anger but with a hint of sadness he replied, "I guess you're right."

Aang, not liking the sudden tension smiled at Hakoda and said, "Nice to officially meet you, Chief Hakoda." Aang then held his own hand to shake.

Hakoda smiled at gesture and grasped Aang's forearm in a Warriors handshake as he said, "It's an Honor to meet you." Hakoda then glanced at Dijin and said, "It's also an Honor to know the man who saved the North Pole."

Aang glanced at Dijin as well before the Lava-bender sighed exasperatedly and said, "For the last time, I didn't save the North Pole, Aang did with the help of the ocean spirit."

Hakoda just shook his head and said, "Be modest all you like but we all know who led our people in a dire time."

Katara, getting upset with her father again suddenly said sarcastically "Great, Great. You guys have finally met and can trade war stories over a roasting fire." She then glared at her father and said, "Now would you mind giving us some privacy?"

Hakoda once again gave his daughter a sad look before walking away saying "Of course."

Aang still not liking the tension among them asked Katara "Are you mad at your dad or something?"

Katara just had a hard look on her face before she schooled her features as she said "What? Not at all. Why would you say that?"

Aang just gained an awkward expression before he looked at Dijin who was behind Katara making a hand slice gesture across his throat.

Aang, getting the message quickly dropped the subject and shrugged his shoulders saying "I don't know. Just curious I guess."

However, the gesture made Aang's wounds act up causing him to double over in slight pain.

Katara instantly gained a concerned look and went to Aang's side saying "Maybe we should go upstairs. You need a healing session." Katara then nodded at Dijin who nodded back and bent down to help Aang stand up and take him to his room with Katara following them.

xxLine Breakxx

Back in Aang's room Katara was bending some water onto Aang's scarred back and was trying to heal his torn muscles.

Across the room Dijin was standing at the ready in case he was needed and due to personal reasons, he was staying at Aang's side as much as possible.

As Katara healed Aang Dijin glanced at the huge scar going across the Avatar's back before he turned away sharply with his eyes closed tight.

Katara noticed the movement from the corner of her eye, and she understood why before she went back to work.

Katara looked at Aang from behind him and asked, "Tell me where your pain feels the most intense."

Aang just grunted in pain before rasping out "A little higher."

Katara nodded and started to move the water upwards along Aang's scar.

Once Katara moved the water Aang's eyes widened at the sudden painful feeling before the pain subsided and he said "Wow. You're definitely in the right area there."

Katara had a concerned look as she said, "I can feel a lot of energy twisted up around this spot." Katara then started to increase her treatment as she said "Let me see if I can..."

Suddenly Aang shot forward and started to spasm as he started to have a vision of what happened in Ba Sing Se causing Katara and Dijin to quickly dash to his aid.

Once Aang stopped spasming he quickly looked at the two benders in shock before saying "I died. I just didn't get hurt, did I? I was actually dead."

Aang schooled his features and said, "But you guys brought me back."

Dijin just looked away awkwardly and said, "Katara is the one who saved you. I was pretty useless."

Katara just had a passive look as she said, "I just used the Spirit Water from the North Pole. I honestly don't know how I brought you back."

She gave Aang a warm smile however and said, "But I'm glad I did."

Aang had a somber expression as he turned to face her and said, "You saved me."

Katara just placed a hand on Aang's cheek tenderly before she said, "You need to rest." Katara stood and motioned for Dijin to follow her and as they left Katara looked back at Aang and said, "If you need anything, Dijin will be outside standing guard."

Aang simply nodded his head as Katara and Dijin left the room leaving Aang alone to process all the information he had been given.

Meanwhile in the Fire Nation Capital, all its citizens and soldiers alike were gathered for a speech in front of the Fire nation Palace being presented by the Fire Lords grand vizier's, two 70-year-old twins named Lo and Li.

The sister Lo spoke first saying "Your Princess Azula, clever and beautiful disguised herself as the enemy and entered the Earth Kingdom's capital."

This time the sister Li spoke saying, "In Ba Sing Se, she found her brother Zuko, and together they faced the Avatar."

Both sisters spoke in unison this time saying, "And the Avatar fell, and the Earth Kingdom fell!"

Lo spoke alone again saying, "Azula's agents quickly overtook the entire city."

Li spoke next saying, they went to Ba Sing Se's great walls..."

The sisters spoke in unison again saying, "And brought them down!"

Lo spoke alone again saying, "The armies of the Fire Nation surged through the wall and swarmed over Ba Sing Se, securing our victory."

The sisters spoke in unison again saying, "Now the heroes have returned home!"

Lo moved aside while shouting, "Your Princess, Azula." revealing Azula as she stepped up to the balcony they were standing on.

The large crowd cheered for their Princess and her accomplishments before Li spoke up while moving aside saying "And after five long years, your Prince has returned."

The sisters spoke in unison a final time shouting, "ZUKO!"

After that was said Zuko came walking out onto the balcony once again dressed in Fire Nation armor and having his hair done up into a topknot.

The crowd cheered and roared for the return of their lost prince but unlike his sister who had a confident smile on her face Zuko had a grimace on his face and looked unsure of himself.

As the crowd cheered Zuko just kept a blank look on his face unsure of how he felt at this moment.

Back with the Gaang, it was morning, and they were all out on the deck eating breakfast while Sokka explained to Aang what they had been up to since he had been asleep.

Sokka swallowed some of his food before he spoke up saying, "After what happened in Ba Sing Se, we had to get you to safety. We flew back to Chameleon Bay where we found my father and the other Water Tribe men. The Earth King decided to take a vow of poverty and travel the world in disguise, so he set off with his bear Bosco. It didn't take long for the Fire Nation to overrun the bay with ships. Rather than fight them all we were able to steal one and make it our disguise. Since then, we've been traveling west. We're passing through the serpent's pass right now and we've seen a few Fire Nation ships but none have bothered us."

Aang took all the information in silently before he asked, "So, what now?"

Hakoda spoke up saying, "We've been working on a modified version of the invasion plan."

Katara once again glared at her father and growled out, "It's Sokka's invasion plan."

Hakoda gained a deadpanned look by his daughter's angry tone before he simply replied "Yes, Sokka's plan."

Hakoda schooled his features quickly before he spoke to Aang again saying, "We won't be able to mount a massive invasion without the Earth King's armies, but the solar eclipse will still leave the Fire Nation vulnerable."

Sokka nodded his head at his father's words before he looked at Aang and said, "So, we're planning a smaller invasion. Just a Rag-Tag team of our friends and allies from around the Earth Kingdom. We already ran into Pipsqueak and The Duke along with a few other freedom fighters."

Aang looked to the side and saw the two in question chowing down on their breakfast. Pipsqueak waved at him while saying with a mouth full of food, "Good to see you again, Aang."

Aang turned his attention back to Sokka who said, The Best part is, the eclipse isn't even our biggest advantage." Sokka then leaned close and whispered, "We have a secret." Sokka then looked left and right as if someone might overhear him before he pointed at Aang saying "You."

Aang had a puzzled look before asking "Me?"

Sokka just smiled saying, "Yep, the whole world thinks you're dead." Sokka quickly stood up while throwing his arms up and saying, "Isn't that great?"

Aang shot up with a shocked look on his face before he said "The world thinks I'm dead? How is that good news? That's terrible!"

Sokka, being the strategist he was, explained the situation to Aang saying, "No, it's great. It means the Fire Nation won't be hunting us anymore. And even better, they won't be expecting you on the day of black sun."

Aang shook his head not liking anything Sokka had said before he spoke himself saying "No,no,no,no,no. You have no idea. This is so messed up." Aang placed his hands on his head in frustration before suddenly a large foghorn was blown.

Everyone on the boat looked towards where the sound came from and saw another Fire Nation ship coming straight towards them.

After seeing the ship Aang gained a determined look on his face before he grabbed his glider and said, "I'll handle this. The Avatar is back."

Aang began to whip open his glider, but the action caused his wounds to flare up making him double over in pain.

Dijin rushed forward saying, "Aang, hold on a second. Remember they don't know we're not Fire Nation. If we attack, then what was the point of being in disguise?"

Aang growled in frustration before he closed his glider and relented, realizing the Lava-bender was right.

Hakoda chose then to speak saying, "Everyone just stay calm. Bato, Dijin, and I will handle this."

Hakoda and Balto quickly put on some helmets to hide their features while Dijin stood at attention where the other ship would dock.

Meanwhile Pipsqueak and the Duke threw a large tarp over Appa to hide him as the others quickly went to hiding spots around the ship.

Aang, Katara, Sokka, and Toph ducked down into a small cargo hold on the deck of the ship with Aang saying with a grimace, "I hate not being able to do anything."

Toph reassured her student saying "Hopefully, you won't need to." Toph then smirked and said, "Hot Rocks is good at giving Fire Benders the run-around."

It wasn't Long before the other ship pulled alongside the Gaang's ship and dropped a gang plank to allow the other crew aboard.

A Fire Nation admiral followed by an escort of soldiers walked across the Gang plank and stood in front of Dijin and the two Water Tribesmen.

Dijin clasped his right hand in his left fist and bowed towards the admiral while said admiral spoke to him saying, "Commander, why are you so off course? All western Fleet ships are supposed to be heading towards Ba Sing Se to support the occupation."

Dijin spoke smoothly saying, "Actually, Admiral, we're from the eastern fleet. We have orders to deliver supplies and precious cargo to the capital."

The admiral nodded before saying, "Ah, Eastern Fleet. Well, it's nice of admiral Chan to let us know he was sending one of his ships our way."

Dijin decided to roll with what the admiral said and replied, "I'm sure Admiral Chan meant no disrespect, sir."

The Admiral just got upset and said irritably "How hard is it to send a note or a messenger hawk our way?"

Dijin just smirked while shrugging his shoulders and said "You know how the higher ups work. Just give us lower guys orders and expect us to fix their problems."

The Admiral couldn't help but gain a smirk of his own as he said, "Too true commander. Well, everything seems to be in order. You may continue on your way."

Dijin just bowed in respect to the admiral doing the same before they separated.

However, as the Fire Nation troops were walking away, Toph's acute hearing picked up a conversation they we're having.

One of the soldiers spoke softly to the admiral saying "Sir, Admiral Chan has been on leave for two months at Ember Island."

The admiral kept his composure but spoke harshly saying, "What? Why doesn't anyone tell me anything? Something's not right here. They should've known that. I think this is a stolen ship." The admiral leaned close to the soldier and said quietly "As soon as we are safely across the ramp sink the ship."

Toph's eyes widened in alarm before she shouted out "They Know!" Next, she slammed her fist into the metal ramp causing the metal to bend and collapse creating a straight line towards the other ship.

The Admiral and his escort were sent falling towards the ocean before Dijin acted quickly and jumped across the gap and landed on the enemy's ship.

But before the soldiers could do anything Dijin slammed his hands into the metal ship and began to run around dodging fire blasts while turning any metal he came across into molten liquid causing the ship to groan and sink.

Once Dijin was satisfied with the damage he made his way back to the Gaangs ship just as Katara waved her arms upwards creating a large wave of water between the two the ships.

Next, Katara thrusted her arms outward sending the wave and destroyed ship far away from their own ship just as Dijin landed on the deck.

After that, the water tribesmen in the engine room quickly put the ship in high gear as the stolen ship made for a quick getaway.

Sadly, luck wasn't on the Gaang's side as another battleship showed up and started to fire their trebuchets to attack them.

Toph and Dijin stood side by side with Toph shouting "I need ammo!"

Pipsqueak answered Toph's shout by throwing a large boulder in front of the blind Earth-Bender from a stockpile they had on stand-by.

Meanwhile Dijin looked at the incoming metal boulders from the Fire Nations trebuchets and said to Toph, "I'll protect the ship. You do what you do best."

Toph just smirked widely and said, "Couldn't have said it better myself, Hot Rocks."

Dijin couldn't help smirking as well before he focused on the first incoming metal boulder and put his arms in front of himself and clenched his fists.

Next, the incoming boulder quickly liquified into molten metal and fell harmlessly into the ocean.

Meanwhile, Toph clenched her own fists and thrusted them forward sending a large Earth chunk towards the pursuing ship and got a lucky shot in by knocking out one of their trebuchets.

The Enemy ship was not going to give up so easily however, as it brought up a large harpoon that was aimed Straight for their ship's hull.

Dijin acted quickly and jumped forward while clenching his hands. Next, the metal harpoon followed his command as its metal components began to melt and liquify.

The soldiers on the deck of the ship began to scramble and panic as their ship's deck began to fall apart due to the molten harpoon.

Sadly, the Gaang's luck continued to sour as another ship showed up.

Katara glared at the incoming ship and looked at the group before saying "I'm going to give us some cover!"

Katara raised her arms above herself before she rapidly pushed them down to chest level.

Next, a large whirlpool was formed next to the ship and Katara began rotating her hands causing fog to rise out of the whirlpool and cover the ship.

Sadly, the fog proved to be useless as a flaming boulder came rushing at the ship.

Due to how quick the sphere was coming Dijin didn't have enough time to stop it and it crashed into Toph's earth pile destroying her ammo supply.

Meanwhile, inside the main entrance to the ship Sokka and Aang just witnessed the explosion causing Aang to shout in frustration saying, "Urrg, I can't just stand by and do nothing!"

Aang quickly ran outside to join the fray with Sokka chasing after him saying "Aang, no!"

Sokka grabbed Aang's arm and stopped him from going any further before saying "You're still hurt, and you have to stay secret." Sokka quickly put a reassuring hand on Aang's shoulder as he said, "Just let us handle this."

Aang still not liking the situation but understanding Sokka's reasoning just angrily grabbed his staff while growling out, "Fine."

Once Aang was back inside the ship the other ship chose then to attack since Katara's fog had worn off.

They quickly fired two more flaming boulders and while Dijin was able to stop one the other sadly hit the ship on the rear deck.

Katara acted quickly waving her arms in arc gathering up water from the ocean before waving her arms like a snake sending the water at the flames putting them out.

Sokka looked at the Fire Nation ship still pursuing them as he groaned and said, "Things can't get much worse."

Suddenly, Sokka was proven wrong as the Sea Serpent of serpent's pass came bursting out of the water and toward over the Gaang's ship.

Dijin looked at the giant serpent then at Sokka while saying, "Sokka, just how many times are you going to jinx us?"

Sokka just got irritated and shouted out "The universe just loves fucking with me, doesn't it!"

Toph, also fed up with Sokka shouted out "You make it too easy!"

Just then the serpent reared back to attack, but the Fire Nation made a stupid move and fired at the sea Serpent.

As soon as the flaming boulder hit the creature it instantly changed targets and went straight for the other ship.

The serpent wasted no time coiling around the other ship like a constrictor snake causing all those on board to drown or be devoured by the giant serpent.

The Gaang also wasted no time by throwing the ships engine into high gear getting them as far away as possible.

As they sailed away Sokka looked at the giant serpent while saying "Thank you, universe."

xxLine Breakxx

After sailing for half the day the Gaang's ship made port in small harbor town.

Aang was currently laying on his cot in his room staring at the ceiling while contemplating everything that he had been told thus far.

As Aang was thinking Dijin, Toph, and Katara came into his room with Toph saying "Hey, Aang. We're going into town to get some dinner."

At the mention of food, Aang's stomach let out a big growl.

Aang blushed a little before he said "Well, I am pretty hungry. Maybe dinner's a good idea."

Dijin smiled before walking forward as he grabbed a red headband from his waistband and said, "Here, put this on. It should keep people from recognizing your tattoos."

Aang instantly glared at the offered fabric and angrily stated "I'm not going out if I can't wear my arrow proudly."

Dijin gained a sympathetic look before saying "Aang, I know this hard but we're only trying to help you. You have to be practical about this."

Aang just laid back down on his cot and angrily turned his back to the trio.

Dijin gained a sad look as he saw his friend and charge turn his back to them. Making Dijin feel even worse over his failure to protect Aang in Ba Sing Se.

Katara put a hand on Dijin's shoulder and said "You guys go ahead without us. We'll catch up to you."

Dijin and Toph nodded their heads before leaving and closing the door.

Once they were alone Katara sat on Aang's cot next to him before saying "I think I understand why being a secret bothers you so much. You don't want people to think you failed."

Aang just replied with "Your right, I don't. But the problem is I did fail."

Katara was quick to disagree saying, "Aang, that's not true."

Aang angrily stood up and said "It is true. I was in Ba Sing Se. I was there but I lost. I'm the Avatar I'm not supposed to lose and now, the entire Earth kingdom has fallen for good."

Katara tried reassuring Aang by saying "It's not for good. Remember, there's still a plan. The Invasion."

Aang quickly turned around and shouted, "And I hate the invasion plan, too!"

Katara stood up surprised by Aang's anger before Aang grabbed a nearby Fire Nation tapestry and tore it off the wall while shouting "I don't want you or anyone else risking their lives for my mistakes!"

Aang turned his back to Katara again as he said, "I've always known that I would have to face the Fire Lord but now, I know I need to do it alone."

As Katara listened she was grateful Dijin had left the ship since she knew that hearing Aang talk like this would only make him feel worse than he already did.

Katara once again tried to reason with the upset Air-bender by walking towards him saying "Aang."

Aang stopped her in her tracks by angrily saying "Katara, please. I want to be alone. Just go, please."

Katara gave Aang a sad look before she lowered her head and left the room silently.

Once she was gone Aang spoke to himself saying "I need to redeem myself. I need my honor back."

xxLine Breakxx

A few hours later everyone had returned to the ship with some supplies.

Katara was currently walking towards Aang's room with a tray of food hoping to cheer him up.

She knocked on his door before opening it and saying "I brought you some-"

Her sentence was cut short due to the fact that Aang was missing from the room along with his glider.

Katara instantly dropped the tray of food and ran to the upper deck.

Once she was outside she spotted Dijin ajusting Appa's saddle and ran towards him shouting "Dijin, Aang's gone!"

Dijin immediately dropped what he was doing and ran over to her saying "What! Why in the spirits would he leave!"

Katara just had tears in her eyes as she said "He just took his glider and disappeared. He has this ridiculous notion that he must save the world alone. That's it's all his responsibility."

Dijin had heard enough, He knew Aang was upset but to put all the blame on himself was just lunacy so he knew what he had to do.

Dijin immediately turned towards Appa and said, "Come on big guy, we're getting Aang back."

As Dijin began climbing in the saddle Katara eyes widened before she said, "But your fear of heights."

Dijin just turned towards her and shouted "Fuck my fear! I failed Aang once and I'm not doing it again!"

Dijin quickly climbed up and took the spot by Appa's reigns and grabbed them.

He gave them a quick crack while saying "Yip, Yip!"

With a mighty flap of his tail Appa was Air born and as Dijin took to the sky it started to rain.

As Dijin flew away Katara couldn't stop the tears coming from her eyes.

Suddenly Katara heard her father speak up from behind her saying "Katara, are you alright."

Katara turned and glared at her father with teary eyes before she said "No, I'm not alright."

Hakoda looked at his daughter with fatherly concern and asked, "What can I do to help."

Finally, Katara couldn't take it anymore as she lashed out to her father saying "That's the problem! You didn't help! You left us! I know we had gran-gran, and she loves us but you're my dad! You're supposed to look after us. I know you had to leave, and I understand why, so why am I so hurt and angry!"

Hakoda just let his daughter vent out the last four years of frustration and neglect knowing he was responsible for it before he walked forward and brought his daughter close to him and hugged her.

Katara didn't fight the hug as Hokoda spoke saying "I'm so sorry, Katara. But know this, I love you and Sokka more than you can ever know. You two are my entire world. I would lay awake at night wishing I could come home to you, and the pain of being away from you both nearly tore me apart."

Hakoda held Katara at arm's length and said, "I'm here now and I'm not going anywhere."

Katara's crying intensified as she hugged her father again while Hakoda just comforted her.

xxLine Breakxx

While Katara reconciled with her father Dijin was searching the ocean for Aang but sadly he wasn't having much luck at finding him.

As Dijin scanned the ocean water he said to himself "Come on, Aang. Where are you."

Suddenly Appa roared making Dijin say "What is it big guy?"

Dijin got his answer when flash of white light appeared and took the shape Yui in her spirt form.

Once she was fully formed, she spoke saying, "Dijin, you must find the Avatar. I can show you the way."

Suddenly she turned into an orb of light and flew across the ocean leaving a long white ethereal trail.

Dijin hardened his gaze and cracked Appa's reigns making him follow the trail.

After following the trail for a few miles Dijin was able to spot something floating in the ocean.

His hunch was proven right when heard Aang shout "Appa? Dijin? Whay are you here?"

Dijin just quickly stood up and jumped from Appa's saddle making the bison turn around to go get the others. Meanwhile Dijin formed his body into a dive as he headed straight for Aang in the water.

Aang saw this and shouted, "Are you crazy, Dijin!"

Dijin answer was to land in the water next to Aang making a huge splash.

Dijin quickly swam to the surface and when he breached, he took in a big gulp of air before swimming towards Aang who was holding onto a floating log.

Once he was close enough Aang said "Are you an idiot! You could have died!"

Dijin just splashed some water in Aang's face saying, "You're the idiot, Aang."

Aang looked at Dijin like he was crazy and said, "What are you talking about?"

Dijin looked at Aang seriously and said "When are you gonna stop putting so much weight on your shoulders. Ever since I've known you, you've gone through such lengths and trials that any normal man would have given up ages ago. But you don't have to go through such things alone."

Aang just glared at Dijin and said "Yes, I do! I failed to save Ba Sing Se and now millions of lives are ruined! I won't drag anymore people down this path!

Dijin had enough and shouted "Spirit's Damn you Aang! You're not a failure you are the exact opposite!"

Aang wanted to refute that statement, but Dijin didn't let him he just kept going with him saying "You're not the one who failed to protect his father. You're not the one who failed to stop Azula. And most of all you're not the one... WHO LET THE AVATAR DIE!" Dijin finished with a shout.

As he finished Dijin started to cry as he looked at Aang with the rain mixing with his tears as he said brokenly "My job was to protect you Aang, and I failed. I saw you dead in Katara's arms and I could nothing about it. And I know I haven't shared my past with you yet, but you need to know something." Dijin gave Aang a sad smile as he said, "You're my best friend, so please don't think you have to do everything on your own when you have me and so many others who care about you."

Aang looked utterly shocked never knowing Dijin felt this way as he said "Dijin, I...I'm sorry. I didn't realize you were feeling this way. It's just that I'm so angry at myself, I know I could have fought harder, I could have done something more. And now the whole world is at risk."

Suddenly the two benders heard a voice from behind them saying "No, Aang."

The two quickly turned around and were shocked to see the spirit of Avatar Roku.

Dijin gaped at the old Avatar before Roku spoke again saying "You both did everything within your power. But the blame for the state of the world is not on either of you... it is on me."

Dijin looked at the spirit curiously saying, "What do you mean Avatar Roku?"

Roku spoke with a look of shame saying "I should've seen this war coming and prevented it. You both have inherited my problems and my mistakes. But I believe you two are destined to redeem me and save the world."

Aang looked unsure saying "I don't know."

Suddenly they heard a fourth voice saying, "You already saved the world."

Next thing they knew Yui in her spirit form showed herself to them saying "And you'll save the world again, but you can't give up."

Aang contemplated everything the three had told him before he gained a determined gaze as he said, "You're right. I won't give up."

Aang looked at Dijin and said, "Hang onto me."

Dijin did as Aang asked, getting a good grip on the Avatar's shoulders before Aang began waving his arms in circles creating a massive wave.

Aang glance back at Dijin saying "When I say now, stand on the log."

Dijin just nodded his head as Aang waited for the wave to reach a certain height then he shouted "Now!"

And they both instantly stood up and began to surf the massive wave.

While Aang focused on keeping the wave going Dijin was whooping for joy screaming "Ok, I might hate flying but this is fucking awesome!"

Aang couldn't help but laugh at Dijin's joy before they continued surfing looking for a landmark of some kind.

After surfing for miles, the two landed on the ruined Fire Temple Island, the landmark still oozing magma.

The two benders instantly collapsed onto the beach that the magma didn't reach and passed out from exhaustion.

The next morning both Aang and Dijin were woken up by Appa and Momo licking their faces.

Next thing they knew Katara, Toph, and Sokka showed up with Katara shouting "You found him!"

Katara quickly ran towards Aang and glomped onto him squeezing him tight while she said, "Thank the spirits you're ok."

Soon Dijin and the others joined in the hug followed by Appa and Momo.

After a minute they separated with Aang saying, "I have so much to do."

Dijin corrected him saying "I think you mean we have such much to do."

Aang smiled at his new best friend and said "Right, We."

Toph smirked and said, "You didn't think you could get out of my training that easy, by coming to the Fire Nation did you?"

Aang looked at Sokka and asked, "What about the Invasion?"

Sokka replied with "We'll join up with my dad and the invasion force on the day of the eclipse."

Suddenly Toph felt something brush against her feet, so she reached for it while asking "hey, what's thi-" she was cut short when she recognized the familiar feel of the object.

Toph then sadly stated "oh, it's your glider."

Aang grabbed his glider from Toph, the staff was torn to shreds by the ocean and was no longer usable.

Aang just took a breath and said "it's ok. If someone saw me with it, it would give away my identity. It's better for now that no one knows I'm alive."

Aang quickly gained a determined gaze, before he jumped up to a nearby magma mound.

Aang took a deep breath before he twirled his beloved staff one last time and slammed it into magma covered mound with the staff standing straight up.

Aang and the others got onto Appa after that and started to head towards a place they could lay low.

As they flew away, Aang's staff became engulfed in flames signifying the start of Aang's new path.
