Eric gave the strange boy one last look as he rounded the corner. The thought had suddenly occured to
him that there was something strange about Martin. For one thing, he could have sworn that no older woman
lived in the house across the street. Oh well, he thought and passed it off as nothing unusual. After all,
he had been rather busey lately, and perhaps she had slipped his mind. Eric made a mental note to stop in
one day and tell her what a nice nephew she had.

Simon shut his book with a faint snap, placing it silently on the bedside table. He gazed thoughtfully
at the ceiling, running through his head the events of the day. Let's see, there was Ruthie and Peter's
school project, Lucy freaking out about Kevin as usual, that weird Martin kid hanging around, and the Rabbi
with his latest life crisis. Simon chalked that up to the chaos theory.
Wait backup.....what was with that Martin guy anyway? Ruthie seemed to think he and Martin were friends
from school or something, but he had never met him until the conversation about the surprise party. How had
he known about it anyway?! Better chalk that up to the chaos theory too, Simon wasn't sure he wanted to know
how Martin knew.

Ruthie sat on the side of her bed, looking over Martin's sketch in the dim light of her lamp. She knew
she should call Peter and tell him about it, but that could wait until tomorrow. Ruthie sighed, placed the
creased paper on the bed and walked to the window, gazing out at the stars as the appeared in the sky.
A slight movement caught her eye, and she glanced down to see Martin exiting through the gate. She watched
the spot where he had dissappeared around the corner for a few moments after he was gone. She would see him
again, she hoped, he had great project ideas! That mine he drew was so detailed, and he was a great artist
too. Maybe he would even teach her how to draw if she asked him nicely.
It had never occured to her that Simon had such nice friends. Sometimes she wondered if Simon had any
friends. But she loved her brother and was glad that he had a friend like Martin.
~*~
Little noise could be heard as Martin stood on the sidewalk in front of the Camden home. He cast one
final glance back at it, knowing that odds were he would never return, only if he was needed again, and that
family could take care of itself fairly well. They just needed a little divine intervention sometimes.
Checking carefully to see that no one was about at this late hour, Martin stepped cautiously into the
street. He raised his eyes towards the ever darkening sky and spoke aloud.
"My job is done, things have been set to rights. I can watch over them from Your kingdom now."
In a shimmer of blue lights that flew off into the heavens, Martin was gone as swiftly as he had
appeared.
[Maybe he's an angel
Sent here from heaven
And he's making certain
That you're doing your best
To take the time
To help one another.]
