When Melanie was just six years old back in 1848, she sat on her bed, concealed by her dolls. When Melanie was young, she love to pretend she was a fairytale princess being kept captive inside a tower guarded by a fire-breathing dragon, awaiting the arrival of her Prince Charming or Knight in shining armor who would slay the dragon and rescue her. At the moment, she is reading one of her princess books to her toys.

"Settle in girls," she told the dolls. "it's story time!" She climbed onto her bed and began opened her book.

[Song: I know it's today - Shrek the Musical, but most of the lyrics have been changed]

Melanie:

There's a princess in a tower.

Oh my goodness, I wish I was her!

Poor Rapunzel, needs a haircut.

But the witch won't set her free

Afterward, Melanie flipped the page and gazed at the picture depicting young Rapunzel sing to the open window of the tower while sitting on the chair.

Melanie:

She passes time by singing.

Like someone else I know

She then turned the page of Rapunzel who is no longer a little girl but a grown woman in the tallest tower.

Melanie:

As years go by she sits and waits?

As years go by… Uh oh.

The part of the story Melanie read before doesn't seem familiar to her. Did she pick the wrong book? She has this book before, but this scene isn't familiar to her.

Melanie:

A torturous existence, wait a minute I don't remember this part!

She wishes she were dead!

Skip ahead skip ahead!

The pages were turned very quickly by Melanie rapidly, and she skipped pages to pages before ending the end of the story. Her smile spread across her face when she read the end.

Melanie:

But in the end Rapunzel finds her true love.

Her prince is good at climbing and braiding her gorgeous long hair!

She climbed out of her bed before closing her book

Melanie:

So I know he'll appear.

Cause there are rules and there are strictures!

I believe the storybook I read by candlelight.

She tightly clutched the book to her chest and gazed out her window.

Melanie:

My handsome knight, and his steed.

Will look just like these pictures!

Seeing the picture, she looked down to see a knight riding on his noble horse, clothes in shining metal armor.

Melanie:

It won't be long now, I guarantee!

Melanie pulled out another book that had tally marks in it, and marked a new one as she commenced to count by her hands.

Melanie:

Day number…. *Shrug* 23.

"Melanie!" Her mother called out outside of her room door. "It's time for your singing lesson!"

"Yes mother!" She called out back.

Melanie:

I know it's today!

Before leaving her room, Melanie stared at the clouds from her bedroom window while putting her book down on the foot of bed.

Melanie:

I know it's today….

Time passed by in 1858, and the sixteen year old Melanie ran up to her room. She had a rough day today. Her father, Henry Ravenswood, has kicked out the young handsome boy name Jake of her age out of the Ravenswood Garden Party and her parents are arguing downstairs in the drawing room. His reason? The young fellow was trying to persuade her and take advantage of her heart and his father did it out of protection and love.

"Well, if the old fairytales could help me better my mood..." Melanie sighed to herself as she opened one of her stack of princess tales. Perhaps an escape story could cheer her up. "Ah, there's a good one! It's a classic." She said to herself as she began to open the book.

Melanie:

There's a princess, in a coma.

Glad it's her instead of me!

Melanie mutters as she then flips to the other page. It shows a beautiful sleeping maiden in a glass box underneath the willow tree with flowers encircling the coffin on the bottom, in a deep sleep.

Melanie:

Pretty maiden, in a glass box.

How do I wonder does she pee?

Melanie began skimming over the story.

Melanie:

Blah, blah, blah, poison apple!

Boring, boring evil queen!

Yaya, Yaya, read there, read that!

Seven men on the scene.

Skip ahead, skip a-hea-d!

Melanie flipped through the pages of the book and smile at the part of where handsome prince waking a fair maiden with true love kiss and awaken her from her sleep.

Melanie:

But in the end the princess wakes up with a start! The prince broke her sleeping curse, and melted Snow White's heart!

She placed the closed book on her vanity and went over to her open window.

Melanie:

So I know he'll appear. And his armor will be blinding!

As shining as his perfect smile and manly hose. He'll propose, on one knee.

Melanie began to imagine a knight of her shining armor bent down with one knee and holding a box with a ring inside in his hands.

Melanie:

And our prenup will be binging!

Melanie picks up a bouquet of flowers from the vase as she spins around in her room. Her next image shows her dressed in the wedding dress completely with a veil standing at the altar with her knight underneath the flower arch with wedding bells ringing above them.

Melanie:

About time we set the wedding date!

She picked up her tally book.

Melanie:

Day number 5, 8 and 44.

Melanie let out a sigh as she put the book back on the bookshelf. She looks at the window before slowly walks toward her door.

Melanie:

I know it's today! He'll show up todaa-

Now as a grown woman and a ghost bride, Melanie climbed up the stairs to her boudoir. Centuries have passed, and everything has changed. First, her fiancé mysteriously went missing on her wedding day, second, this phantom, after learning he's responsible of her groom death, is now in her home with ghostly spirits he brought with them taunting her. Her old boudoir was covered in dust and spiderwebs, her books were still in a pile on top of her bookshelf. She grabbed a random one and opened it to a random page.

Melanie:

-aaaay! There's a princess! Any princess!

Take your pick, they're all beautiful!

Not exactly, I'm still waiting!

Her anger was deep, four different suitors tried to court her but they were all mysteriously killed in an accident one by one. It became apparent to her that her prince must be riding a tortoise rather than a noble horse, her guess as to why he is taking very long could be explained by this.

Melanie:

They're out living hap-pi-ly.

Ever after better get here

I want love in seconds flat.

Melanie walks around her room as she stomps her heels in frustration while holding a book in her hand.

Melanie:

No one needs these middle bits.

During her anger moments, she accidentally tore out a page from her book. "Oops, did I do that?" She gasped as then in an act of anger, she ripped out some pages from more books, feeling happier with every tear she shed.

Melanie:

Cut the villains, cut the magic!

Cut this fairytale!

Cut the Beauty and the Beast!

Cut the puppet and the whale!

With more and more pages in the storybooks she ripped, she let her tears fall down.

Melanie:

Cut the monsters, cut the curses.

Keep it intro, cut the verses.

She toss the books down and taking another book from the shelf.

Melanie:

And I'm still waiting, and waiting, and waiting, and waiting.

With every strength and muscle she has, she starts at the spine of the story book rather than the open edge, and rips the book in half.

Melanie:

The waiting!

She fell on her knees and began sobbing. With her eyes fixed on the ripped pages huddle around the ghost bride.

Melanie:

But I know he'll appear. Though I seem a bit bipolar.

She let out a heavy sigh while collecting her mess she had created from the ground, and throwing her mess in the lift fire in the fireplace.

Melanie:

And I'm a vandal now as well, though he won't mind

Melanie double facepalm and let out a groan before staring herself in the old dusty mirror hanging on the wall of her boudoir, she smiles in confidence at her reflection.

Melanie:

I'm a find, I'm a catch. And a very gifted bowler! It won't be long now, I guarantee!

Day number-

She looked up at the ceiling.

Melanie:

Are you there God? It's me, Melanie. It's me Melanie!

Now, all of her two selves appear beside her, her younger self and her teen-self.

All:

Now I know, he'll appear!

Because there are rules and there are strictures.

I believe the story books I read by candlelight.

All three versions of Melanie put their right hand over their hearts.

All:

My handsome knight, my knight and his steed!

Will look just like these pictures!

It won't be long now, I guarantee!

Melanie walked back and picked up her old tally book, memories of past days decades flooding through her mind.

6 year old Melanie:

Day number 23

She slowly walked toward her vanity mirror that looked like it's shaped like a skull.

16 year old Melanie:

Day number 5,844

She put one last mark in the book before placing it inside her vanity drawer and walked toward the three windows that's facing Frontierland.

180 year old Ghost Melanie:

Day number 65, 7 and 44

She pressed her hand against the glass of the window. 'I know it's today.' She thought and continued to stare out the Frontierland watching park guests passing by Ravenswood Manor. 'I know it's today,' she said one last time.

Outside the Ravenswood manor. The sky is growing orange. A man walked over by a fence to see the view of Thunder Mountain. He turns and looks over at the Manor from his shoulder. He has obvious cybernetic enhancements, black hair, green eyes, and wearing a pilot's outfit with various company embroidered logos on the jacket.

"It's time." A man told himself. "There's no turning back now."

He walked up the hill.
