On October 4, the world of country music lost a great legend. Loretta Lynn passed away at age 90.

For one of the activities during Family Game Night, Miranda suggested making up new words to go with classic songs. Of course, James is right on board with the idea. He even helps Sofia with new lyrics for a special song for Miranda, using a song she's always loved. Loretta Lynn's music is not mine, and on a more serious note, rest in peace Loretta Lynn.

Sofia: Well, I was borned a shoemaker's daughter
In a cabin, on a hill in Dunwiddie village
We were poor but we had love
That's the one thing that daddy made sure of
He made shoes to make a poor man's dollar

Miranda (spoken, laughing): Oh, Sofia! Did James help you with this?

Sofia (spoken): Of course he did!
(sings) My daddy worked all night in the Dunwiddie shoe shop
All day long in the field a hoin' corn
Mommy rocked the babies at night
And read the Bible by the coal oil light
And ever' thing would start all over come break of morn'

James (spoken): Surprise!

Miranda (spoken): And what a cute surprise it is!

Roland (spoken): Indeed! Well done, both of you!

Sofia: Daddy loved and raised eight kids on a shoemaker's pay
Mommy scrubbed our clothes on a washboard every day
Why, I've seen her fingers bleed
To complain, there was no need
She'd smile in mommy's understanding way

Amber (spoken): And we all know how good James is with words!

Miranda (spoken): That's true!

Sofia: In the summertime we didn't have new clothes to wear
But in the wintertime we'd all get a brand-new outfit
From a mail order catalog
Money made from selling a hog
Daddy always managed to get the money somewhere

Yeah, I'm proud to be a shoemaker's daughter
I remember well, the well where I drew water
The work we done was hard
At night we'd sleep 'cause we were tired
Never thought of ever leaving Dunwiddie Holler

Well, a lot of things have changed since a way back then
Ah, and it's so good to be back home again
Not much left but the floors, nothing lives here anymore
