As much as Bella and Edward love each other, they can't possibly understand what the other's life is like.
On Bella's 18th birthday, instead of a paper cut, a switch is about to make Forks even weirder.
How will Bella cope with suddenly being a 104-year-old mind-reading vampire in love with her singer? And how will Edward cope with being a human in love with a vampire?

Chapter 90

"Edward?"

"I'm right here, love. I know it's all very chaotic right now, but you're fine. Everything's gone perfectly." He tried his best to reassure her, but she still refused to open her eyes. Slowly, he reached out for her hand. "Don't be scared, but I'm gonna hold your hand, okay?" He wrapped his fingers around hers, and she momentarily tensed in reaction to the unfamiliar touch.

"Is it weird that a part of me expected you to still be cold?" she asked, and he chuckled.

"Not at all." He waited another moment to allow her the time she needed, but he did grow impatient even though he tried to rein it in. "Bella, baby, can you, please, open your eyes for me?"

She did as he asked, a small smirk on her enticing lips. "I don't think I've ever heard you call me 'baby' before," she said and directed her new, ruby-red eyes onto him, taking in his appearance with her enhanced eye-sight. "But I like it," she finished, her smirk widening into a grin as she carefully sat up. "This is so strange," she breathed out and Edward squeezed her hand sympathetically.

"I know. It's very overwhelming right now, but you'll get used to it and—"

"No, I mean, it's strange because I'm not overwhelmed," she said and reached out for him. "I feel like I already know this body. After spending time as Other Bella, this is nothing. No thoughts swirling around and you don't smell like a delicious meal." She shifted onto her knees and leaned forward until their noses almost touched. She inhaled his scent deep into her lungs and hummed. "Well, not that kind of meal at least."

Edward let out a soft, but overjoyed laugh. "I still can't read your mind, but do you know what I want to do right now?" he asked her. There was only one thought in his mind, and who could really blame him. For the first time, through all the ups and downs and strange happenings in their relationship, they were finally the same.

"What?" she asked. She was already quite certain she knew what he would say, but she enjoyed their little back and forth.

"I want to kiss you and not hold anything back," he said, and a thrill shot through her.

"So what are you waiting for?"

He smiled. "You."

Bella ran her hands up over his chest and settled them on his shoulders. "Here you have me."

For the first time since they started their relationship, neither of them had any fear or anxiety as they closed in on each other. Their lips touched for the shortest fraction of a second before Edward had her on her back, kissing her with every ounce of passion and desire he possessed. Bella allowed him to take charge, loving how she could see unrestrained side of him like when he was human, and yet, this time, she felt every touch and caress as it was supposed to feel.

Edward leaned up on his elbows so he could look at her. "Sorry. I didn't mean to maul you like that," he said, but she just smiled and pulled him back down for more kissing.

"If I ever have any complaints, you'll be the first to know."

A/N:

So Bella's not that overwhelmed with being a newborn because she's already been a vampire once.

And they're still practicing great communication so let's see where that'll get them in the end ;)
