Disclaimer: I do not own Danny Phantom
And now to deus ex machina things back to status quo!
Chapter fourteen
Jazz wanted to help Danny, she just needed to figure out the best way to do so. She desperately wanted things to go back to how they were, and after her last talk with Danny, she felt he felt the same. There had to be something they could do.
Danny had told her that he wished things had never happened, and that he would forget all of it. She kept thinking back to this as she paced her room, when an idea came to her.
She remembered from Danny's notes that there was some ghost who granted wishes. D…something. She couldn't remember exactly. Maybe she could get that ghost to grant Danny's wish. But how to get in contact with that specific ghost?
She heard from Danny that Vlad had some agreements with certain ghosts. Could this wishing ghost be one of them? And how does he contact them? With these questions in mind, she headed to the lab and ransacked the room until she found what she was looking for. It looked like a regular business planner with a directory, only all the individuals were ghosts.
"Let's see under d…Desiree, ya, that sounds right. And she has a cell phone? Why would an ancient genie ghost need a cell phone? Wait…is there even cell service in the Ghost Zone?" Jazz thought aloud as she looked through the directory. She shrugged her shoulders since she could not think of a good reason, and instead called the number.
Jazz was more disappointed than surprised when the phone gave a busy signal then suddenly went dead. She was about to go back upstairs when the portal suddenly opened and a ghostly woman appeared.
"You called?" The ghost asked.
"Are you Desiree, the wish granting ghost?"
"I am, child. Tell me, what is your heart's desire?"
"It's not my desire that needs granting. It's my brother's."
"Aren't you a caring sister? But surely there must be something you want."
"What I want is the same thing as my brother."
"And what is that?"
"It's, well first…you can grant any wish, right?"
"Of course."
"No matter how convoluted or ultra specific?"
"If I feel so inclined. But I must warn you that convoluted ones often fail to meet your expectations."
"Ya, I heard of that. You like to do a monkey's paw kind of deal."
"I'm not too familiar with that analogy. Are you ready to wish?"
Jazz thought for a moment. This was probably her best chance to help Danny, and she just needed to make sure that her wish could not be used to hurt anyone. Once she had the wording correct she answered, "Ya, I wish-"
The wish was paused when the alarm sounded. Confused, Desiree asked, "What is that horrible sound?"
Confused herself, Jazz checked the monitor to see the Guys in White storm the house as Danny ran off screen. A few moments later, Danny phased through the ceiling to appear in the lab. Equally confused, Danny asked, "Jazz? Wait, what's Desiree doing here?"
"I called her?" Jazz asked more than answered.
"How?" Danny persisted.
"On her cell phone," Jazz explained.
"Wait, ghosts have cell phones?" Danny asked even more confused.
Wanting to get back on track, Desiree asked, "Dear girl, what is your wish?"
"Don't say anything Jazz. But seriously, how did you even learn she has a cell phone?" Danny ordered then asked as he tried to keep his sister separated from the ghost. He knew there were other threats in the house, but at that moment he wanted to focus more on the one in front of him.
"It's okay Danny, I have everything under control," Jazz assured. She then turned back to the ghost and answered, "I wish that everyone who knows Danny Fenton is Danny Phantom would forget everything that happened these past two weeks."
"Jazz? What do you think you're doing?" Danny asked. Jazz said nothing, but looked decidedly at Desiree.
"So you wish it, so it shall be!" Desiree announced as she granted the wish. As the wish granted, a wave of energy spread out which affected everyone in the building.
Danny rubbed his eyes as the wave fogged his head then passed. As he looked around, he asked, "Jazz? What just happened? Wait, Desiree? What are you doing here? And why are we all in Vlad's lab?"
"I…don't know," Jazz answered as she looked between Danny and the ghost.
Danny frowned and turned ghost before demanding, "I don't know what happened, but I'm betting you had something to do with it. So what do you want?"
"I…I have no idea why I'm here either. I think, I'm just going to go…," Desiree answered as she noticed the portal and went back before Danny decided to throw her back.
As she left, Danny noticed the directory with the ghost's cell phone number. Confused by this, Danny turned back to human and asked, "Wait, why would she have a cell phone? Why would Vlad have her number?"
"Danny, I think we have bigger problems," Jazz announced as their parents, Vlad, and the Guys in White walked into the lab.
"Kids, what's going on? We thought we heard a noise," Maddie asked as they entered the lab.
"We're…what are the Guys in White doing here?" Danny asked.
"We're…looking for a ghost. We think," one of the guys answered.
"Attention HQ, what was our mission again?" Another guy asked a radio on his wrist.
"According to our records you are looking for the ghost boy," the person on the radio answered.
"Why would the ghost boy be here?" The first guy asked.
"Why should we know? I don't even know why we're here," Jack commented.
As they discussed their options, Vlad grew tired of the situation and ordered the government out of his house. With nothing else to do or look for, the government left. As they did so Vlad leaned over to Danny and pointedly commented, "I don't know what is going on, but I blame you."
With this said, they all went back upstairs to try to figure out what happened.
"So your entire family was in Wisconsin this whole time? Everyone here thought you guys were abducted or something," Sam commented as she, Tucker, and Danny walked in the school hallway.
"Ya, but no one has any idea why we were there. I mean, you would think that someone would know what's going on, but the last two weeks are completely blank. And what was Desiree doing there?" Danny asked aloud, confused by all the the events he must have forgotten.
"More importantly, why does she have a cell phone? Do ghosts get a special phone plan we need to look into?" Tucker asked.
"Focus Tucker. You guys lost your memories from the last two weeks, didn't you?" Danny asked.
"Ya, and I wish I knew what happened. My parents were pissed at us and I don't even know why," Tucker complained. He then asked, "So what do you think Vlad needs her phone number for?"
"Focus tucker!" Sam ordered. She then continued, "Did you try tracking her down to ask?"
"I asked her when I saw her with Jazz, but neither of them seemed to remember anything. As it is, with these weird wounds I got my parents are currently watching me like a hawk so I'll be waiting to go look for her," Danny explained.
"That is even weirder. But at least it'll give you a reason to focus on all the homework you have to catch up on," Sam agreed.
The bell rang, so the group headed to class, acting as if nothing major ever happened.
And that makes the end of this story. Thank you for sticking through it.
