"Do you really think this is a good idea?" asked Kakashi who was looking down at his favorite book.
"Trust me. I have a good feeling about it." said Minato.
"Alright, when do you want me to tell him?" asked Kakashi.
"Tomorrow. I think it will give the academy students quiet the surprise." Minato said with a warm smile.
Koyuki's Hotel
Naruto and Koyuki were currently laying in bed together. While they haven't gone all the way, they have done many things that nearly led up to it. However, Naruto declared that he didn't want to rush things with her and that whenever she is ready, and actually ready, not in the heat of the moment, they will go to that level.
Koyuki was laying her head on Naruto's warm chest. The blond's arms were wrapped around his girlfriend as he held her tight under the covers. "Mmmm, Naru... I think we need to get up." Koyuki said in a sleepy tone.
"Come on, captain. Why can't we take another mission. It's not my fault the squad is a bunch of pussies." Naruto muttered in his sleep. Koyuki slowly raised up and warmly smiled at Naruto as he talked in his sleep. "Hey, Yamato. You ever notice that Kakashi looks like a cyclops?" Naruto asked in his dream.
Quietly leaving the bed, Koyuki proceeded to put on one of Naruto's shirts that were large on her. "Hello? Yes, can I have some breakfast sent up? Um, whatever is fine. Yes, coffee will be good. Okay, thank you." Koyuki said softly as she stretched and went to the bathroom to get herself cleaned up.
It didn't take Naruto much longer to wake up. "Hey, Yuki? Are you here?" Naruto called out.
"In here, honey." Koyuki called out as she was brushing her teeth and preparing for the day. Naruto walked in and hugged her from behind while planting a kiss on her cheek. "How did you sleep?" Koyuki asked her boyfriend as she handed him a tooth brush.
"It was okay. I don't know why, but I get the feeling that Kakashi was a cyclops in his past life." Naruto said as he started cleaning his mouth. Koyuki let out a chuckle.
When the two finished, they went back to the bed. Naruto sat on the edge and laid back while Koyuki sat on top of him. "What do you want to do today?" Koyuki asked.
"Maybe we could go visit Jiraiya? Its been awhile since we seen him." Naruto said.
"Okay, but if he has those damn books around, I'm going to kill him." Koyuki said.
"Oh come on. The books aren't that bad. In fact, you should try reading them." Naruto explained.
"You read that stuff? I didn't know you were a little pervert." Koyuki said with a smirk.
Naruto sighed. "It isn't all about sex. In fact, its taught me quite a few things. How else do you think I've been doing such a good job with?" Naruto asked.
Koyuki crossed her arms and smirked at Naruto. "Oh? Do tell me all you have learned." Koyuki said in a seductive voice.
Naruto smirked as he softly nibbled on her neck. A strange sensation took over Koyuki's body. She couldn't explain what it was. The soft bites from Naruto had completely taken over. However, their moment was stopped when a knock on the door was heard.
"Room service." the woman declared.
"Okay, thank you." Koyuki said as Naruto grabbed their trays. As the two were eating, Koyuki noticed a blush on Naruto's face. "Naru? Are you alright?" asked Koyuki.
Naruto looked up. "Yeah, I'm fine. I'm just think about some things right now." Naruto said.
"Like what?" asked the woman.
"I was thinking, maybe we should try to make some friends." Naruto said as he looked down.
"What brought this on?" Koyuki asked.
"Truthfully, I thought it would be good. I noticed at the party that when I spoke with Mito, I felt good on the inside. I thought it would do you some good too to have friends." Naruto said.
"Hmm, that's not a bad idea. Okay, after we meet with Lord Jiraiya, we'll go find some friends." Koyuki said with a smile.
Outside the Hot Springs
When Naruto and Koyuki left the hotel, they began searching for the toad sage. Naruto figured he'd be in his regular spot and so he decided to secretly find him. "Yo." Naruto said.
This greeting made Jiraiya raise an eyebrow. "You alright, Gaki?" asked the toad sage.
"Great. I feel really good actually." Naruto said with a smile.
"Well, that's good. What brings you down here?" asked Jiraiya.
"Koyuki and I were looking for you. No worries, she is still looking. I made sure not to tell her where your favorite spot is." Naruto said with a wink. This made Jiraiya chuckle.
"You're alright, gaki. Here is a telescope, take a peek." Jiraiya said as Naruto's eyes showed him the view of multiple women in the springs. The sight made Naruto fly backwards as a burst of blood exitted his nose. "Still need some experience." Jiraiya said with a chuckle.
"Yeah, well, come on. I think we've kept Koyuki waiting long enough." Naruto said but was stopped by Jiraiya.
"Naruto, you know you can talk to me, right? I know I have my way of doing things, but I want you to know that if anything is bothering you, you can talk to me." Jiraiya said as a warm smile grew on his face.
Naruto smiled and nodded. "You got it, pervy sage." Naruto said with a chuckle and the two left the springs and found an unamused looking Koyuki. "Hey, Yuki. Jiraiya and I were trying to find our way back and we got lost on the path of life." Naruto said with a sheepish chuckle.
"You know, Naruto. It's only cool when I say it." Said Kakashi as he was sitting in a tree while reading his book.
Naruto nodded. "What's up, captain?" Naruto called out.
"Actually, that. I've come to inform you that you've been relieved of all your anbu duties. You have a test this evening and if you pass, you'll be promoted from special jonin to a full jonin." Kakashi said.
"Wait, why is dad taking me off of anbu?" Naruto asked.
"I'm not going to lie to you, Naruto. Most people crack or go insane after spending four to five years. This new personality change has your family concerned. We just think it's best for you." Kakashi said.
"Wait, so if I fail the test, I can stay in anbu?" Naruto asked with hope in his voice.
"No, you'll be forced to become a jonin sensei." Kakashi said with his single eye smile.
"What? No way, not happening. I'm not a teacher." Naruto said in protest.
"Really? I think if anyone could teach, it would be you." Kakashi said.
Hokage training field
Naruto, Jiraiya, Koyuki, Kushina, Minato, Tsunade, and Shizune had gone to the hokage's personal training field for Naruto's test. Minato explained that Naruto needed to perform in both taijutsu and ninjutsu, along with kenjutsu. He would fight three different opponents.
"Alright, are you ready?" Minato asked with a smile.
"Captain, are you sure I have to do this?" Naruto asked.
"Not unless you want to be a jonin sensei. Then you will be fine." Kakashi said lazily.
"Don't worry, Naru. Just do your best. Show them why you're Kitsune of the Cold Mask." Koyuki said with a wink.
Naruto smirked and nodded with determination. "Alright, dad! Throw whoever you got! I'm ready!" Naruto declared.
"Good. The first test will be in Taijutsu and your opponent while be Might Guy." Minato said as a man with a bowl haircut appeared along with wearing a green body suit.
"I can feel your flames of youth! Come on, let's go! After this match, we'll run five hundred laps around the village! What do you say?" asked Guy.
"Yeah, sure. Let's do it!" Naruto said as he got into his taijutsu stance.
"Hey, Gaki. Be careful." Kurama said.
"Yeah, I hear this guy is no joke." Naruto said mentally and when the matched began, he charged at the jonin. Before anyone could blink, Guy swept his feet and sent him across the field. "What the hell? I guess I can't hold back any longer. "Swift Release - Shadowless Flight." Naruto muttered as he charged at Guy as a blur. Even the green beast was shocked at this.
"Come on, Naruto! Show him what you've got!" Koyuki cheered out.
Both Naruto and Guy were exchanging blows at speeds that only Kakashi could read with his sharingan. "To think, Naruto's already at Guy's speed." Kakashi thought.
The clash continued for ten minutes, before Guy appeared behind the blond and delivered his typical, Dynamic Entry. It was a good thing that Naruto created his shield of ice to protect himself or else his bones would have been broken. "Alright, Kurama. Give me a little bit of your chakra." Naruto asked.
"It's about time you asked. Here you go." Kurama said and suddenly, Naruto's cerulean eyes flickered red and he charged at Guy. Nobody could spot him, not even Kakashi. All they saw was a heavily bruised, Might Guy kneeling.
"What the heck was that?" Guy asked. "Hmph. I guess I can't hold back. Fifth Gate of Closing, Open!" Guy shouted as his skin became red and his eyes went white. Not even the small boost from Kurama's power was enough to protect the blond from the power of the hidden lotus. It was thanks to Minato that Naruto was permently injured.
"Okay, I think that's enough." Minato said.
"My apologies, Lord Fourth. Had I not forgotten about this being a test, I wouldn't have gone that far." Guy said with slight shame in himself.
"No, it's okay. Damn, that really hurt." Naruto said as he stood up.
"Impossible! How are you still standing after that?" asked Guy.
"The truth is, Kurama protects him. In a way, if I get too hurt, so does he. No blood, no foul. That was an excellent match, Guy. I hope we can have another spar when I get stronger." Naruto said with a geniuin smile and he bowed.
"I agree! The power of youth is burning bright inside of you, Naruto." Guy said as he proceeded to sit down.
"If you only you knew, Naruto. You could probably take us all down if you wanted to." Minato silently thought with a smile. "Alright, let's do Kenjutsu. Kushina, you're the Kenjutsu specialist. Please, evaluate Naruto." Minato said.
"Okay. Naruto, where is your sword?" asked Kushina when she noticed that Naruto only had a kunai in his hand.
"No worries, mom. I like the kunai. I'll try to be careful and not hurt you." Naruto said in a sincer tone.
"I don't think you'll need to worry about that. Just do your best." Kushina said with a smile as she adopted the Uzumaki Kenjutsu style.
"Wind Release - Slashing Air Cyclone!" Naruto roared as he slashed his kunai in the shape of an x. Suddenly, Kushina was forced on the defenses and used her fire release - fire wall, to block the slashes.
"You've got stronger, Naruto. But you'll need more than that if you wish to win." Kushina said as she charged at her son. The Namikaze woman clashed her blade against Naruto's kunai and thanks to his years of being in the battlefield along with having Kurama enhance his senses, Naruto was able to backflip away to avoid the attakc.
Before Kushina could follow up, Naruto beat her to it. The mother and son entered another clash. "I'm sorry, Naruto. But it seems your mother has won this one." Kushina said with a determined smirk.
"Oh really?" Ice Release - Crystal Ice Sword." Naruto said as his blade formed and he was able to push Kushina back. Everyone watching was in awe at seeing Naruto manipulate both Wind and Water to create Ice.
"Why I don't believe it. Looks like the rumers are true, Naruto can manipulate multiple elements with his wind release." Minato said as he watched the mother and son due clash.
"Hiraishin Release - Flying thunder God - Second Step - The Orange Flash." Naruto said as he appeared behind Kushina with his kunai against her neck. "Do you give?" Naruto asked with a smirk. This caused his mother to laugh as she dispelled and appeared behind her son with a kunai to his neck.
"No, Naruto. Do you?" asked Kushina.
"No, I don't." Naruto said as he flashed once more behind his mother. "Sorry, mom. It's pretty hard to beat the Hiraishin." Naruto said. Kushina bowed her head in defeat.
"Alright, you win." Kushina said as she muttered about stupid blonds always flashing around like the owned the place.
"He seemed to really enjoy using that jutsu in front of you, huh Minato?" Jiraiya asked with a smirk.
"Doesn't he know that declaring the jutsu doesn't make a difference?" Minato asked.
"We have all told him." everyone said at once.
"Hey, dad? Do you think I could test my ninjutsu against you?" Naruto asked.
"Huh? Why against me?" asked Minato.
"Well, I was able to be tested by mom. I was hoping that you could play a part in my test." Naruto said with a hopeful look in his eyes.
"I'm sorry, Naruto. But as hokage, I need to judge. The only way I can judge is if I'm watching from the sidelines. You'll actually be facing against Kakashi." Minato said.
Naruto looked disappointed but nodded. "I understand." Naruto said.
"Alright, the rules are simple. You need to show three different jutsu with a different element. In your case, because of how skilled you are, you need to also use two of your advanced elements." Minato explained.
Naruto nodded. "Yes, Lord Fourth." Naruto said as he readied himself. Minato frowned slightly at being called his official name because he was getting used to being called father.
"Alright, Naruto. Let's see what you've got." Kakashi said as he raised his headband and showed his sharingan.
"Sharingan already?" Naruto asked. In that moment, Kakashi was sent flying into the wall. Nobody could speak because they didn't know what happened.
"Um, Naruto? What just happened to Kakashi?" Tsunade asked.
"I call that the Swift Release - Shadowless Punch. Basically, I'm able to punch at a speed that is invisible to the naked eye. I developed it to counter the sharingan." Naruto explained.
Kakashi picked himself up. "Damn, I couldn't even read that. I didn't even have time to use my Mangekyou Sharingan." Kakashi silently thought as his Sharingan eye entered the advanced form. "Kamui!" Kakashi shouted.
Seeing this, Naruto flashed behind his former anbu captain. "Water Release - Water Dragon Jutsu!" Naruto declared.
"Water Release - Water Dragon Jutsu!" Kakashi said at the same time as their dragons attacked each other. "That was close. Had I not distracted him with the Kamui, he would have gotten me." Kakashi thought.
"Storm Release - Black Lightning Flash!" Naruto roared as a stream of Black Lightning raised towards Kakashi. The silver haired ninja quickly evaded the attack but soon found that it was tracking him.
"Damn you, Naruto. Kamui!" Kakashi declared as the jutsu was sent to another dimenssion. He then dropped to one knee as he clenched his eye.
"Kakashi? Are you alright?" Minato asked with concern.
"Yeah. Its been awhile since I've used it. My body hasn't really adjusted to it much." Kakashi admitted.
"Lightning Release - Eletromagnetic Prison!" Naruto declared as he formed his hands together and surronded Kakashi inside a prison of lightning.
"What is this?" The copycat ninja asked.
"It's one of my few moves that aren't lethal. Truthfully, I needed to use this so that way I didn't force you to use anymore chakra. I wanted to save the best for last." Naruto said with a smirk.
"Best for last? Are you planning on using that jutsu?" asked Kakashi. Naruto nodded and he sighed. "Alright, let's do it. Lightning Release - Chidori, One Thousand Birds!" Kakashi declared as he began charging a burst of lightning in his hand.
"What is Kakashi doing? That's an assassination jutsu. He'll kill Naruto." Minato said.
"Relax, Lord Fourth. Naruto has a jutsu that can counter it." Koyuki said.
"Huh? What are you talking about?" Minato asked.
"I'm no shinobi. But Naruto has talked to me about his training along with revealing some of his jutsu. Not that I care about the arts, but I do care about Naruto's interests. Trust me, Naruto can handle himself." Koyuki said.
"Wind Release - Rasen Shurriken!" Naruto declared as he charged at Kakashi, who was doing the same. As they were inches away, Kakashi's body faded.
"Lightning Blade - Double Lightning Edge Cutter!" Kakashi roared as the real version appeared over Naruto. "Alright, Naruto. Show them why you're Kitsune of the Cold Mask.
"Ice Release - Crystal Ice Shield." Naruto muttered as Kakashi's hand nearly pierced through his chest. A large explosion occured and both Naruto and Kakashi were sent flying in opposite corners. Forgetting his role as the ref, Minato flashed to his son to find a log.
"What the hell?" Minato asked as he turned and saw Naruto with Kakashi's arm around his shoulders.
"How did I do, captain?" Naruto asked as his body was heavily beaten badly, just like Kakashi.
"You pass." Kakashi said with a one eye smiled before he fell on to the ground.
"Haha, you better pick up your training." Naruto said before he suddenly passed out and fell onto the ground.
Koyuki ran over. "Naruto!" she shouted as she pulled her boyfriend into a tight hug.
"No worries, I'll patch them both up." Tsunade said with a smirk.
Hokage's Office
Once Naruto and Kakashi were fully healed, everyone arrived at the hokage's office. Minato informed Naruto that because of his performance, he was an official jonin of Konoha.
"I'm very proud of you, Naruto. As of tomorrow, you'll officially become a jonin sensei." Minato said with a smile.
"What? But Kakashi said that if I lost I'd become one!" Naruto shouted as he shot daggers at his former captain. "Kakashi! I'm going to shove Rasengan so far up your ass that you'll flinch everytime you read those make-out paradise books!" Naruto roared.
"Hey, hey, relax. I've got some good news that I think you will like." Minato said trying to defuse the situation.
"What do you mean?" Naruto asked.
"Tsunade? Why don't you tell him?" Minato asked.
"Well, brat. I've been helping your girlfriend learn medical ninjutsu. Let me say this, she was a tough one. To teach a grown woman how to access her chakra isn't an easy task. But I did. While her reserves are indeed small, they will get bigger as she trains. She provid basic medical aid along with some medical ninjutsu." Tsunade said.
"Do you know what that means? Koyuki will be jonin you as a jonin assistant. I realized that many of our jonin know little to none medical ninjutsu. So, having a medical assistant allows for an overall bigger squad, along with not having to cut our forces down." Minato explained.
"Really? So are the other squads having a medical assistant?" Naruto asked curiously.
"No. We wanted to do a test run. You're easily one of our top shinobi. We figured that someone like you, would be able to train a team of genin and turn them into chunin faster than the other jonin squads. Plus, I've seen what you can do. I'd put my life into your hands in the center of Iwagakure going against nine tailed beast." Minato said.
Naruto chuckled. "I'm not that strong. But thank you, dad. Well, I don't like it. But I guess having Yuki there will make it more durable. When will I get my team?" Naruto asked.
"Tomorrow. You and Yuki will pick up your students there. Normally I give each sensei a set training fielf, but because you're my son, I'll let you choose." Minato said.
"I'm not one for favoritisim, but I'll take you up on that offer. I want training field number forty-four. The Forest of Death." Naruto said.
"Huh?" everyone asked.
"Before any of you lose your minds, remember, that's where Anko and I used to train at. In fact, before the Land of Snow, I used to train there nearly everyday. Don't you remember, captain?" Naruto asked.
"I do. I remember all the times I brought your nearly decapitated body back to HQ. Those were some good times." Kakashi said with a chuckle.
"Alright, it's settled. Tomorrow, you will meet your genin team and you will give them there final test." Minato said.
"What do you mean?" Naruto asked.
"As a jonin sensei, you will need to give your genin a test. Many choose to focus on teamwork, but I won't make you decide how you will test them. All I will say is this, it has to be passable and you cannot fail them if they annoy you." Minato explained.
"No worries, Lord Fourth. I'll make sure he follows the rules." Koyuki said with a wink.
Minato smiled warmly. "Alright, that's all. You are dismissed." Minato said as Naruto picked Koyuki up bridal style and the vanished in an orange flash.
Hotel
"Will you warn me next time?" Koyuki growled.
Naruto chuckled. "I'm sorry, you just get really cute when caught off guard. But on a more serious note, we need to figure out how we will test the genin." Naruto said.
"What do you mean? I'm just the team medic." Koyuki said.
"Nope. Team Kitsune's members will all play an important part on the team." Naruto said with a smirk.
"Then what about the basic teamwork test? I don't know how it's done, but I'd imagine it's simple." Koyuki pointed out.
"True, but teamwork hardly is developed at first. I believe it will come... Hmm, I've got an idea! This is genius!" Naruto said as he explained his plan to Koyuki.
Hokage Tower
"So, tell me, what was the real reason you put her on the squad?" Jiraiya asked while Tsunade chuckled. "What?" he asked his former teammate.
"You really think Naruto can lead a squad of green genin without killing them? She's there for there protection from him, not from some enemy ninja." Tsunade said with as chuckle.
"Oh, I see. So, who are the unlock brats?" asked Jiraiya.
"Menma, Mito, and Sasuke Uchiha." Minato said.
"Really? I would have thought for sure that Kakashi would have been there sensei." Jiraiya pointed out.
"Yes, that was my original plan. However, I spoke with Mikoto. She told me that Naruto would be more ideal due to his and Sasuke's connection with Itachi. Aside from Koyuki, I think Naruto and Sasuke will be able to save each other from the path of darkness." Minato said.
"Well, Minato. I have faith in you. You were an excellent student, you're an excellent hokage, and most importantly, you're a wonderful father." Jiraiya said with a genuine smile.
