Meet The Elite: A Sinnoh Stepback!
Ash Pokémon: Pikachu, Heracross, Butterfree, Torterra, Infernape, Alolan Exeggutor
The plane soared all the way to Sinnoh and our young Alolan Champion was watching in nostalgia at the snowy top of Mt. Coronet.
"Man, has it been a long time since I came to Sinnoh." Ash mused to himself.
"Yeah. That was one of your better leagues, if I'm honest." Cynthia said with a sisterly smile as she watched the young trainer's eyes sparkle.
It was like having a kid brother if she would be honest.
"I would've won as well, if it weren't for Tobias and his legendaries." He said, grimacing at the memory.
He came packing with a Darkrai and a Latios! How was that fair?!
"Yeah well, you'll be pleased to know that his victory was null and void." She said, confusing them.
"How so?" Ash asked.
Her face then showed a frown.
"Turns out those legendary Pokémon he had? Illegally bought. After I trounced them, it was revealed to have control chips on them. So we immediately disqualified him and took his league victory away."
Ash and Pikachu's jaws dropped at the news.
"What?" He said flatly.
"Yep. That rich boy wanted to win so badly, he was willing to control those legendaries to win and spent a lot of money on the black market for them." She said with a grimace.
"I bet they were not happy when they were free." Ash said. He knew how dangerous it was to try and control literal gods.
"Oh yeah. You ever seen a Darkrai, a Latios, an Entei, an Articuno, a Heatran and a Zapdos lose their shit? It wasn't pretty. By the time we stopped them, Tobias was sent to a prison hospital." She said.
"AND HERE I THOUGHT HE WAS UNBEATABLE! INSTEAD I LOST TO A RICH BOY CHEAT?!" He yelled in frustration with Pikachu mimicking his movements.
"Yep. So we had to give it to the runner-up instead. At least he got a top position through hard work." Cynthia spoke.
Ash was now fuming. He would hope that his time with the elites would help him forget it.
The two landed and then headed their way to where they were waiting.
"Hey guys! I'm here!" She called out.
Four people turned to see the Sinnoh Champion come up to them.
The first was a 19-year-old male with green eyes and short green hair with a cowlick, dressed in a black tank with orange markings, orange trousers and white trainers
Next was a 66-year-old woman with long grey hair and stern brown eyes, dressed in black dress under a white coat and a brown scarf around her neck. She also wore grey stockings and black slippers
Third was a 25-year old male with a red afro and grey eyes, dressed in a yellow polo, a black choker, black wristbands. He also had black pants with red suspenders and black sandals as he walked with a slouch
Finally was a 28-year-old male with long, purple-blue hair and purple-blue eyes covered by a pair of glasses, dressed in a smart red suit with black dress shoes
"I would like to introduce you to the new Alola Champion, but I believe you already know him." Cynthia said as she presented Ash.
"Nice to meet you again, Aaron, Bertha, Flint, Lucian." he said with a grin as Pikachu also agreed.
"Well, well, well. Never thought I would see the day a young buck like you would become champion." Bertha said with a grandmotherly smile.
"Yeah, me neither." Ash said with a smile.
"Man, that battle was flaming! Never thought I would see such an awesome battle, especially with all those old tricks!" FLint exclaimed, flames appearing in his eyes. He was eager to battle him again.
"Quite a performance as well. I may need to log it for next time as research." Lucian said with a chuckle.
"I wonder if that Golisopod is available! I would love to see an Alolan bug-type!" Aaron said with sparkles in his eyes.
Cynthia smiled at her baby brother figure interacting with her fellow elites.
"Hey guys, come on. He's spending some time with you guys so don't overwhelm him." She said as she then faced Ash.
"Now they are going to be your watchers. Try not to give them a heart attack." Cynthia said ina stern tone.
"Fine, sis." He said with a playful snark, but it just got Cynthia to blush.
"Oh you!" She said, giving him a hug before going off. Ash then turned to decide who he should spend time with.
"Let's see…Hey, Bertha! Can we have a rematch?" He asked.
Bertha chuckled.
"It will be my pleasure."
Both were at a battlefield on either side.
"Now I hope you haven't forgotten about the powers of observation, young man. Hippowdon! Go!" She said as she threw her capsule to reveal a large, black hippo with red eyes.
"HIPPOW!" She yelled.
"Time for a blast from the past! Torterra, I choose you!" Ash yelled to reveal a large green and brown tortoise with a pointy head and a large tree plus spikes on its back.
"TORRRR!" It bellowed.
"Ahh, an old friend huh? It will be my honour to battle you once again." She said.
"Tor!" He bellowed
"Torterra! Energy Ball!"
The giant tortoise fired a green energy orb from its mouth.
"Dig to dodge!"
Hippowdon quickly buried itself underground, the energy orb sailing away.
"Oh no! Not again!" Ash said as both he and Torterra watched the entire area, waiting for the hippo to pop up.
"You remember this? Now tell me. How will you fair?" She asked.
"The last time, I saw the rocks moving but then she countered by shaking the field.' he then saw the rocks shake once again. 'And looks like she's doing it again. Time for my other trick."
"Torterra, close your eyes! I gotta try something." Ash ordered as Torterra did that. Ash then closed his eyes and began moving his legs in a motion along the ground.
Exhaling, he focused his senses.
Bertha, meanwhile looked on with confusion.
"What is he doing?" She said to herself.
Ash's eyes then shot open.
"Left rear leg!"
Torterra then swerved out of the way as Hippowdon shot out like a rocket.
"Oh my!" Bertha said in surprise.
"Energy Ball!"
Torterra then fired an Energy Ball to the hippo, sending her flying into the ground.
"Now use Iron Head!"
Torterra's head soon bumped as it lumbered forward.
"I'm impressed with that little trick. But there more than one way to battle. Now Hippowdon, use Iron Head to!"
As the hippo stood up it also lumbered forward with a bumpy head and met Torterra head on, both struggling to overpower the other.
"Now this is a clash of ages! Old vs new! Newbie vs veteran! Defence vs offence! Who will win?" Bertha said as they watched the struggle happen.
"Well, here's the answer! Rock Climb!"
Torterra's claws soon elongated and large rock pillars shot out, knocking Hippowdon off balance as she was pushed up by the tortoise before being flung off.
"Now let's end this! Iron Head and Earthquake, Torterra! TIme to do the Megaton Drop!"
Torterra soon rushed up the pillar, head bumping and shining and then dove down onto the belly of the beast.
A large dust cloud formed from the impact. When the dust cleared, Torterra went back on his fours while Hippowdon laid there with an open mouth, out cold.
"ALRIGHT!" Ash cheered as he ran to Torterra, hugging him.
"You were awesome, Torterra!"
"TOR!" He cheered in happiness.
Bertha returned her ace, feeling rather satisfied.
Cynthia was right. He came a long way.
Ash was now looking through the many books inside the large library.
"Holy hell! You have a ton of books!" Ash spoke with awe.
"Indeed."
Lucian soon came down from the ladder he was on, carrying a book.
"All these books are fundamental to my battling." he said, carrying a small notepad
"How so?"
"Knowledge is power. I read through these books for inspiration for my skills and to help care for my Pokémon. Each one has different habits and inspiration for battle from childhood stories to complex history books." Lucian said but when he turned around, Ash had his Exeggutor out and climbed to one of the high shelves to grab a book.
"Aw sweet! 'A Journey of Majestic Valor!' I hadn't read this thing in a long time!" he said as he slid down the large dinosaur.
"Oh, you're a fan of this old story?" He asked.
"YEah! Mom read this to me when I was a kid! I always enjoyed this story!" He said as he opened it.
Lucien smiled.
"Say how's about we read this and see if it holds up?" he said as he took a seat.
"Yeah!"
And with that, the group sat down and started to read an old adventure from their childhood days.
Ash was now in Sunnyshore City, Ash was with Flint meeting up with someone for some help.
"So, what is it that needs to be done?" Ash asked.
"Ahh, Volkner called us over to help with the Tower for some reason. He called me as I am the only guy he will trust with all this equipment. I brought you along so you can help him out." Flint said as he walked ahead.
When they got their, they saw a blonde man with blue eyes around the same age as Flint in a blue jacket over a black shirt, grey jeans and silver shoes, who was pacing around the area.
"Hey Volkner!"
Volkner turned to see Flint and Ash come up towards them.
"Hey Ash! Flint!" He said as they hi-fived each other.
"And you brought the eye of the storm as well." Volkner said with a smirk as he eyed Ash and Pikachu.
"Yeah! I'm just here to see if you need any help or something." Ash said.
"So, what's wrong?" Flint asked.
Volkner sighed and just pointed to the top of the Sunnyshore Tower. On top of it was a fairly large metallic bird with yellow eyes and sharp teeth. It seemed to be glaring at anyone and began to let out silver blasts at the nearby crowd.
"What the?! What's a Skarmory doing here?!" Ash exclaimed.
"I dunno. All I know is it made its home on the top of my damn tower and blasted Flash Cannon at me anytime I try to get close to it or the Officer Jenny that comes!"
As they approached, the Skarmory saw this and fired away a Flash Cannon at the trio.
"Dammit! How are we gonna get close?!" Flint exclaimed.
"Maybe there is a reason why? If we can distract it, I can sneak in and find out why." Ash asked.
"You sure you can do it?" Volkner asked in concern
Ash and Pikachu just give an 'are you kidding me?' look.
"Volkner, confronting angry Pokémon is something I do every Tuesday." He said.
"OK. Luckily, I know who can distract the Skarmory." He said as he threw a PokéBall into the air, revealing a blue and white pelican with a long, yellow sack.
"Pelliper!" He squawked.
"I'll help to!" Flint said as he threw his one, revealing a purple balloon with a white tuft and a yellow x on the face.
"BLIM!" He cheered.
Ash looked at the two in confusion.
"I thought you to specialised in electric and fire-types!" He exclaimed.
They looked at each other in silence.
"Pelipper can help set up Thunder."
"Drifblim knows Will-o-Wisp."
Ash just face faulted at their answers.
"Whatever, anyways, Infernape come on out!" Ash said as he showed a dark red monkey with white fur that had golden armour plates and a fiery crown.
"INFERNAPE!" He screeched.
"Come on, Infernape. we got a Skarmory to move!" He said as they rushed to the entrance.
Both older men also decided to get ready as their flying types made their way to the Skarmory. The armor bird noticed and shrieked to fly where they were.
Meanwhile, Ash, Pikachu and Infernape were rushing through to the top of the tower, hoping to uncover why the Skarmory had made its home there.
As soon as they got to the top, they saw the nest, made of twigs and newspaper and other bits of garbage.
"A nest?" Ash pondered as he approached it, seeing nothing inside.
"Nothing? So why would it?" Ash wondered just as the Skarmory was blasted back via a Hydro Pump from Pelipper.
"What the?! Skarmory?!" Ash exclaimed as it crashed. It tried to stand up but it then shrieked in pain as it hunched in on itself.
"Hey, are you hurt?" Ash said as he approached the bird, who squawked in response as he pecked at him. Both Pikachu and Infernape got into position to defend their trainer but Ash shook it off.
"Hey relax. I'm not gonna hurt you." He said with a smile as Skarmory seemed to relax a bit but not much. He then saw a large bruise on the left ankle.
"I see. YOu got injured badly huh?" He said as he reached into his bag to grab a super potion and a roll of bandages, and began to work on administering first aid on the poor bird's leg.
"Man you must've chosen this place to try and recover. No wonder you wanted to be alone. You just needed some peace and quiet." He said with a gentle voice.
"Skarr…" The bird squawked in agreement.
"Well, if you want, I can take you to a place that can heal you up properly. Peace and quiet just for you. What do you say?"
The Skarmory thought about it for a bit. She did want some peace so she could recuperate so it could be a good idea.
"Skar!"
"I guess that's a yes then huh?" He said as he and Infernape helped the bird up with Infernape, carrying it onto his back.
Ash then waved to both flying-types.
"Hey! Can you guys give us a lift down? We have an injured Pokémon over here!" He called as the two floated down, loading the armor bird onto Pelipper while Pikachu hitched a ride on Drifblim as they floated down with ash making his way down the tower after returning Infernape.
Both older boys saw the Skarmory seemingly at bliss. They then noticed the bandage wrapped around the leg.
"Huh, whaddya know? Ash was right." Volkner spoke in an impressed tone.
"Hey guys!" Ash called as he ran up to them.
"Yeah, turns out the Skarmory was injured. We need to take her to the Pokémon center for better care." He said.
"Well, then let's go!" Flint said as they went to the nearby center.
A few minutes later, Nurse Joy came out wheeling the healed Skarmory.
"All done. She will be able to move properly now." She said with a smile.
"Thanks, Nurse Joy." They said as she went somewhere.
"Well Skarmory, I think it is time for you to fly home!" Ash said as they took the bird outside. Skarmory looked to the sky and spread her wings…before turning around and rubbing against Ash affectionately.
"Hey, come on! Don't you want to go home?" Ash said in a confused tone.
"Skarm…" She shook her head and pointed a wing at him.
Ash looked confused but Volkner chuckled to clarify something,
"I think she wants you to be her home, Ash." he said.
"Huh, what?" He spoke in a confused manner.
"It means she wants to come with you, Bolt for brains!" Flint clarified.
"Really?! Is that true?!" Ash asked Skarmory and she nodded before spreading her wings.
"But I think a battle is first on the list." Volkner said.
"OK then! Let's battle! Infernape, let's do this!" Ahs said as he unleashed Infernape, who got into a fighting stance.
Skarmory's wings soon turned green as she went down with a cross strike to the fire monkey.
"Mach Punch!" Ash commanded as Infernape's fist turned white, rushing to meet it head-first, both attacks cancelled out and they flew back.
"X-Scissor against Mach Punch. Not surprised they cancelled each other out." Volkner said.
Skarmory then had to fly high as Ash ordered a Shadow claw.
Suddenly, Skarmory's eyes glowed blue as the ground shifted below Infernape's feet.
"APE?!" He screeched as the sand locked him in position.
"What the?! Sand Tomb?!" Ash exclaimed.
Skarmory smirked and soon her maw opened and fired a Flash Cannon at Infernape who was still stuck to the ground.
"Infernape!" He shrieked from the attack.
Soon Skarmory shot forward as his entire body glowed gold and shot forward like a missile.
"Watch out! That's a Brave Bird!" FLint warned.
"Block it Infernape!" Ash ordered as the monkey crossed his arms just as the bird crashed into him.
The impact was hard but Infernape managed to hold his ground.
"With him being stuck in that Sand Tomb, Infernape is a sitting ducklett. I need to get him loose. But how?" he thought to himself when he had an idea.
"Infernape! Flare Blitz! But stay where you are!" Ash said.
Infernape then let loose a blue fire aura around him with a roar as he let the heat lose.
Skarmory tried to get close but the heat was too intense. When it was over, the area near Infernape's feet became glass.
"Now Mach Punch where you are!"
Infernape then punched the glass where he was as glass shards flew into Skarmory's eyes.
"End it! Flare Blitz!"
Infernape then leapt up and surrounded himself in blue fire as he dove down and crashed into the armor bird, sending her into the dirt, out cold.
"Now PokéBall go!" Ash said as he threw the capsule. It hit the bird and opened, the beam taking the bird inside the capsule as it closed up and landed.
One…
Two…
Three…
PING!
Ash let a smile loose as he picked it up.
"Alright! We did it! I just caught a Skarmory!" Ash cheered as he held it into the air with Infernape and Pikachu celebrated as well.
Flint and Volkner looked on and smiled.
"You were right, Flint. He came a long way since we last saw the kid." Volkner said.
"Yeah. It will be amazing to see how he adjusts to the champion's role." Flint agreed.
Leaping through the forest, Aaron and Ash were busy swinging from tree to tree with their chosen Pokémon.
For Aaron, it was a giant, purple scorpion with blue highlights, and white jaw-like propositions from the sides of its mouth as it scuttled along the ground while Ash had Pikachu and a blue, bipedal hercules beetle that also flew with him.
"So, what is so special?" Ash asked as he leapt onto another branch.
"Simple. At this time, there is a Butterfree migration!" Aaron said in an enthusiastic tone.
That made Ash and Pikachu halt. Memories of his Butterfree came to mind.
"Really?" Ash asked.
"Yeah! They are said to cross over here in a few minutes. If we hurry, we can see it." He said in an enthusiastic voice.
"OK!"
And with that, the two made their way to the clearing where the migration would happen.
Soon the group made their way to the clearing, looking to the sky for something to come.
And like a prayer answered, they got what they wanted.
A swarm of purple butterflies with white and black wings, red eyes and blue limbs flew above them, making an arc as they did.
"Wow…" both boys said with their Pokémon agreeing.
Aaron then noticed something strange.
"Hey Ash? Why are those two coming to you?" He said in confusion.
Sure enough two Butterfrees were flying to him and crashed into him as=t high speed.
"Huh?" He said. That was when his eyes widened.
One was pink while the other had a yellow scarf. The one with the scarf was nuzzling with tears in its eyes.
And Ash and Pikachu were also the same.
"Butterfree?" Ash said in a low, quiet voice.
"Free…" He said in happiness.
"BUTTERFREE!/PIKACHU!" Both Ash and Pikachu exclaimed as they hugged the bug in happiness.
Aaron and Drapion saw this in happiness. Nothing like a reunion for the ages.
Afterwards, the lot were by a picnic blanket, snacking on sandwiches and Pokémon food. The bug-types and Drapion had sap.
"I cannot believe that I got to see you again, Butterfree. And you brought your mate as well." Ash said with a sandwich in his mouth.
"Free!" The bug chittered in joy with honey in his mouth.
"How have you been?" He asked and soon both Butterfrees began to chitter. It wasn't hard to understand as they have been flying.
Besides, Ash had a deep connection with Pokémon so understanding was like a second nature.
"Wow. You had quite an adventure." He said. Suddenly, a flame blasted past them, shocking them all.
"WHAT THE HELL?!" Both boys yelled as they saw the perpetrator. An older man with a grey jumpsuit under a black bomber jacket and boots with shades covering his eyes. Next to him was a bipdeal clown-like figure with two cannons for arms.
"Finally! The Pink Butterfree and his mate! Man will they be worth a bundle!" he said with a laugh.
"Who the hell are you?!" Ash demanded angrily.
"I'm the guy that is gonna have a big payday when I get those Butterfrees! now fork 'em over, boy!" He said with a grin.
"Forget that! You are not having them, you hear?!" Aarin said as Drapion, Heracross and Pikachu got ready to battle. Drapion flexed his claws, Heracross cracked his knuckles and Pikachu's cheeks sparked.
"Well, time for reinforcements!" He said as he threw five more into the air.
First was a giant, blue duck man with a black speedo held by a golden belt and had four arms. A Machamp
Next was a giant boulder with a pointed face, and a pair of short arms and legs. A Golem
Third was a giant crow with blue feathers and a white, puffy chest and had a top that looked like a fedora. A Honchkrow
Fourth was a metallic UFO with screws on the side of its head, three magnets and bulbous eyes. A Magnezone
Finally was a giant white tree figure with purple eyes and green appendages. An Abomasnow.
"Now, what will you do about this, boys?"
Ash and Aaron were silent as they gritted their teeth in annoyance. They were outnumbered.
"How's about him bringing the crew together?" A voice spoke as Flint, Bertha, Lucian and Cynthia came up to them.
"We saw the commotion and decided to help. Guys, shall we?" Cynthia said as she held a Pokéball.
"Yeah!" The three said as they threw their PokéBalls into the air.
Out came Cynthia's Garchomp and Flint's Infernape but for Bertha, she had a giant brown rhino with a long drill nose and an orange brick pattern all over her body and the palms had cannon holes in them.
For Lucian, he brought out a slim, white figure with a red spike on his chest, a green headgear and green blades on his arms.
The man growled but was ready to battle.
"Didn't expect that. But no matter. I will have that Butterfree if it's the last thing I do!" he yelled as his Pokémon advanced.
"Shall we, Ash?" Cynthia said with a smirk.
"Let's do this." He said
"ATTACK!"
Soon all six Pokémon met on the field of battle, all the while Pikachu helped lure the two Butterfree away.
The Magmortar fired a flamethrower from his cannon to Heracross, but Garchomp was faster to blocked the flames with her fin before rushing forward, spinning around and slamming a silver tail to the side of the clown, sending him into a tree.
Infernape then leapt onto Garchomp's head as Magnezone came in with a Body Press and began to hammer away with his fists on the body before axe-kicking the metallic being into the earth.
Machamp began to spin at high speeds to Rhyperior but Gallade was faster, blocking it with Thunder Punch and halting him in his tracks before launching a Psycho Cut to the torso, sending him back.
Golem leapt high for an Earthquake but Heracross managed to catch him with his horn and threw him higher before flying to deliver a barrage of punches to the walking boulder before punching him into Magmortar, knocking him out.
Golem growled and soon began to glow but Rhyperior rushed forward, glowing blue and sending Golem to Infernape who then proceeded to do another Close Combat and sent him to Drapion, who caught him in an icy cold grip, freezing him in position.
Magnezone spun around for a Gyro Ball but Rhyperior caught it, then proceeded to bathe him in Flames before flinging him to Honchkrow, who dived out of the way to Heracross, who then fired Rock Blasts to knock him out of the sky. It was still standing but a thunder punch from Gallade knocked him out cold
Abomasnow tried to lumber forward with a Wood Hammer but instead Rhyperior stood in front of him and took the attack. When it didn't do anything, Rhyperior grinned sadistically as she slammed a fist into her palm while Abomasnow, who sweated in fear. Rocks gathered in her palms as she slammed it on his head, knocking it out.
All of the poacher's Pokemon were out cold and he was looking worried. All of the trainer's and Pokémon came close, glaring as he tried to run but Butterfree came from behind.
"BUTTERFREE!" He squeaked, covering him with dust, putting him to sleep.
"Nice one, Butterfree!" Ash said.
Butterfree squeaked in happiness.
The officer Jenny came and took the poacher away.
"Well, it was great to see you again, Butterfree. Guess you should be going soon." Ash said with a sad smile as he turned to go. However, he then felt two presences on his head.
"Huh?" He looked up and saw that both his Butterfree and his mate were hovering behind him.
"What? What are you guys here? I thought you were continuing the migration." He said.
The two butterflies began chirping with Ash looking in confusion. However, after a while he then understood something.
They wanted to come along with them
"Seriously? You want to come back with me?" Ash asked in hope.
Both nodded.
"Well, like hell I'm gonna deny that! Welcome aboard and it's good to have you back!" Ash said as he threw two Pokéballs at the two. They shook twice before they clicked.
"YEAH! TWO BUTTERFREES FOR THE PRICE OF ONE!" Ash said as both Heracross and Pikachu chanted in celebration all the while the top trainers of Sinnoh looked on with smiles.
Some things never change.

This fic is back with a new Chapter, yo!
OK, that was bad...
But yeah, with Scarlet and Violet coming, I figured this would be appropriate.
Anyways, there is a shout out to one of my favourite Pokémon fanfics: 'A Journey of Majestic Valor' by Alatum Lamanis. With any luck, may be I could do a reaction fic to it.
Next was Hippowdon VS Torterra and let's be honest Torterra had NO victories after evolving. This was needed.
And the combo move is this:
Megaton Drop = Iron Head + Earthquake = Leaps into the air and charges and earthquake with a bumpy scalp for Iron Head. When he lands, the impact is stronger.
Also, the return of Butterfree and his mate with Ash having them join his family! Now will the Pink Butterfree be used to the insanity that is the Ketchum Crew?
Plus, I had ash capture a Skarmory. Why? Well the guy needs more steel-types!
