The gang was still in Vermilion City, currently visiting Vermilion Harbor. They were staring at the books. Misty suddenly noticed something.
"I recognize that ship." She said, pointing at a big white ship. "That's the S.S Anne, the largest ship in the Kanto Region. I have a small model of it."
"Impressive." Ash said. "I would like to travel on it."
"Just one problem." Brock stated. "We can't afford tickets."
Ash and Misty sighed, knowing he was right.
Just then two women with flowers around their necks appeared out of nowhere.
"You three are Pokemon trainers correct?" The woman with blonde hair asked.
"That's right." Ash nodded.
"Then here you go." The brown-haired woman said, handing Ash three pieces of paper. "These are tickets for the S.S Anne."
Ash, Misty and Brock were surprised.
"Hold on you're giving these to us for free?" Brock asked.
"That's correct." The blonde-haired woman said. "The S.S Anne is hosting a party for Pokemon trainers. So they get these tickets for free."
Misty felt like leaping for joy.
"Let's board the S.S Anne." She squealed.
Ash and Brock couldn't say no, so they all boarded the ship.
'I know I've heard those voices before.' He thought.
This was really a trap. The two women were actually a disguised Jessie and James. They removed their disguises.
"Whoever thought that this would be so easy." Jessie said.
"And whoever thought I would make a pretty woman?" James joked.
"Quiet you three." Meowth said. "The boss wants to talk to us."
A screen came up.
The boss of Team Rocket was a middle aged man named Giovanni. His desire was to capture hundreds of powerful Pokemon and use their power to make the whole world his own, and to have both humans and Pokemon under his control.
"Is everything ready?" Giovanni asked.
"Yes sir." Jessie said. "We have hundreds of Pokemon trainers aboard the S.S Anne."
"Excellent." Giovanni said. "My men are on board and when the time is right, we will steal all of those trainer's Pokemon."
The screen became black.
"Time to get to work." Meowth said. Jessie and James nodded.
Ash, Brock and Misty were amazed when they entered the main room of the ship. There were Pokemon trainers everywhere and there were dozens of booths with food, accessories, clothes and games.
"So what should we do?" Ash asked.
"Let's split up." Misty suggested. "That way we can all have a good time."
"Sounds good." Ash and Brock nodded.
"Let's meet back up here in a hour." Brock said.
They all went their separate ways.
Ash and Pikachu walked around and passed by a stall containing souvenirs. Ash purchased a stuffed Pikachu, which made his Pikachu happy. He immediately hugged the stuffed Pikachu. Ash then passed by a lottery stall with four prizes to win. The fourth prize was a consolation prize, Pokemon key rings. Third prize was a big Pokemon medicine kit. Second prize was a blue Pokemon egg inside a incubator. First prize was a mystery bag. Ash ended up winning the mystery bag which contained a Thunder Stone, Water Stone, Fire Stone and Moon Stone.
'These will definitely be useful.' Ash thought.
Then he saw something that really angered him. A man was selling a Magikarp.
'Not if I can help it.' He thought to himself.
"Excuse me." He called out, approaching the salesman. The salesman then had his arm pinned behind his back.
"Selling Pokemon is illegal." Ash led him over to a security guard who contacted several other guards and the man was arrested.
"Officer Jenny's been after this guy for quite some time." The security guard said. "Now he's going to jail where he belongs."
After the Magikarp salesman was led away, Ash approached the Magikarp in the tank.
"Hey Magikarp." He said, placing his hands on the glass. "I know someone who would like to be your friend. Want me to take you to her?"
Magikarp looked at Ash with curiosity, then nodded yes. Ash found a Poke Ball on top of the tank and returned Magikarp with it.
After that Ash reunited with Misty and Brock and they shared what they with each other.
"I purchased a cook book with new recipes and a book related to Pokemon medicine."
"Apart from girly things." Misty said. "I bought this Slowbro doll."
She held a Slowbro doll in her arms.
"I hope to obtain a Slowbro in the future."
Ash presented his Pikachu doll and four evolutionary stones.
"Wow." Misty said, amazed.
"I get the feeling that you are going to use those on three of your Eevee's, right." Brock said.
"I am." Ash nodded.
"What about the Moon Stone?" Misty asked.
"I'm still deciding on the Moon Stone." Ash replied. "I'm going to wait until I find a Pokemon that I want to use it on."
Ash then showed a Poke Ball to Misty.
"This is for you." He said, telling them about his run in with the Magikarp salesman.
"No way." Misty said. "Selling Pokemon is low."
"I agree." Brock retorted. "Guys like him belong in jail."
"Considering you're a water type Pokemon trainer Misty." Ash said. "You should have Magikarp. Besides this will probably help you overcome your fear of Gyarados."
Misty was a bit hesitant, but knew Ash was trying to be helpful and accepted Magikarp.
The gang was about to get some food when black smoke poured into the room.
"What's going on?" Ash asked.
Team Rocket appeared and said their motto.
"What do you want?" Misty demanded.
"We want your Pokemon." Jessie smirked and snapped her fingers.
Most of the passengers on board revealed themselves to be Team Rocket members holding vacuum machines.
"Suck up the Pokemon!" James shouted.
The Team Rocket members activated the machines.
"Not if I can help it." Ash's eyes changed as he was enveloped in fire.
"Time for us to fight back." A burst of fire shot up towards the roof of the room.
Misty released her Staryu, Starmie, Poliwag twins and Seel. Brock sent out Geodude, Growlithe, Weepinbell, Zubat and Sandslash. (His Onix was too heavy for the boat). The other trainers released their Pokemon to fight as well.
Soon a massive battle commenced on the ship. All of the water type Pokemon worked together. So did the fire types, the grass types, the rock types, the ground types, the flying types, the normal types and the bug types. Then finally all the electric type Pokemon sent the Team Rocket flying with their Thunderbolt attacks. The trainers were triumphant.
Soon there was another issue. A strong storm was brewing outside the ship and big waves rocked it.
"I don't like the looks of that storm." Misty said, staring out the window.
The other trainers were scared too. They turned to the captain.
"Everyone." The captain said. "Don't panic. It will only lead to more trouble. There are plenty of life boats onboard. They will get us to safety."
Ash, Misty, Brock and all the other trainers ran to the life boats.
Everyone was panicking. Ash, Misty and Brock were knocked out when some of the trainers ran into them. While they were unconscious, the trainers watched the S.S Anne sink as a result of the waves. No one was aware that three people were still on board.
Misty was the first to regain consciousness. She then woke Ash and Brock up.
"What happened?" Ash asked.
"Well the S.S Anne sank." Misty replied. "And we were left behind."
"I remember." Brock said. "We were knocked unconscious by the other Pokemon trainers."
"So we're still on the ship?" Ash asked.
"And we're on the bottom of the ocean?"
He looked out a nearby window and saw water type Pokemon swimming around.
"What are we going to do?"
"Not panic for one." Misty said. "I have a model of the ship after all and I know it's layout rather well."
Ash and Brock were relieved.
With Misty leading them, the gang tried to find a way off the ship even if it was at the bottom of the sea. The ship had been turned upside down, so they were walking on the ceiling not the floor. They reached a flight of stairs, but water was leaking into the ship.
"When we sent Team Rocket flying." Brock said. "We must have torn a big hole into the ship."
"Now what will we do?" Ash asked. "None of us can breath underwater."
"Leave it to me." Misty said, pulling out a Poke Ball. "Let's go Seel."
Seel popped out of his Poke Ball.
"Seel, go see if there is a way for us to get off this boat."
Seel swam everywhere in the under deck and checked every nook and cranny for a way out, but he couldn't find anything. Seel was about to return to his trainer to tell her the bad news when he saw something. He found an egg in an incubator. Seel picked it up and took it with him.
"Seel has been gone for quite some time." Misty said.
They had been waiting for Seel to return with information.
"I wonder if he's found anything." Ash said.
Just then Seel popped out of the water.
"There you are Seel." Misty said.
She then noticed the egg on Seel's back.
"What's this?"
Ash immediately recognized the egg.
"I recognize that." He said. "It was on the lottery stand. It must've been left behind in the confusion."
He took the incubator from Seel, removed the egg and inspected it.
"Nothing looks wrong with it and water didn't get into the incubator."
Brock took a good look at it as well.
"Yeah, nothing is wrong with it." He said. "But as soon as we got out of here, we take the egg to a Pokemon Center."
Ash put the egg in his backpack for safekeeping.
"The thing is." He said. "How are we going to get out of here?"
Just then Misty thought of something.
"I have an idea." She said. "Since the stairs going down lead to the upper deck. What we need to do is head upwards to the boiler room. But going up the stairs will be tricky."
"I'll handle that part."
Ash told them.
He released Corviknight who carried Misty and Brock to the other side, then returned back to Ash and carried him to the other side.
Ash then returned Corviknight to his Poke Ball and they passed through the door.
Through the door was a hallway, but it was dark and there were no lights on. That was until a pair of eyes illuminated the darkness. As they passed by the door, Ash had shape shifted into his dragon form and lit his hand on fire to act like a light source. Thanks to that, they made it through the hallway. Then they got to the boiler room, but it had caught fire.
"It must have caught fire when the ship sank." Misty said. "It's too dangerous to walk from here to the other side. But we need to cross here."
Ash then came up with a idea.
"I'll fly us to the other side."
Misty and Brock thought that was a good idea. He took them to the other side of the boiler room.
"We're now in the hull of the ship." Misty said. "We can get out from here."
Just then the gang felt the boat rock.
"We need to get off the ship fast." Misty said. "Ash, burn a hole in the ship. We can get out that way. And we also need our water type Pokemon to help us."
Misty released her Starmie and Seel. Misty grabbed Seel and Brock grabbed Starmie. Ash then burned a hole into the ship. As soon as a big enough hole was formed, Ash stopped what he was doing. Then the gang managed to get off the boat, into the ocean and the water type Pokemon helped Misty and Brock to the surface as Ash propelled himself out of the water.
After escaping the sunken ship Brock and Misty rested on a raft while Ash hovered in the air.
"That was rough." Ash said. "I thought we were done for."
"Yeah." Misty nodded. "I hope we never have to deal with that again."
"Right now we need to find land." Brock said. "Can you find land for us?"
"Sure thing." Ash then searched for land.
A few minutes later, he flew back to Misty and Brock.
"There's a city called Porta Vista not far away." Ash told them.
"Well let's go." Misty said, releasing her water type Pokemon who pulled the raft as fast as they could.
Along the way Misty's Magikarp started to glow.
"Hey Misty, your Magikarp is starting to evolve." Brock said.
Misty's Magikarp then turned into Gyarados.
Gyarados roared and picked up the raft, swimming as fast as it could to get Misty and Brock to safety.
At that time, in Porta Vista, the captain of the S.S Anne and a Officer Jenny were staring out at sea on the harbor. Apparently all the survivors of the S.S Anne made it to Porta Vista for safety. The captain and Officer Jenny were worried about Ash, Misty and Brock.
"Since there's no sign of them." Officer Jenny said. "I fear they are dead."
"I will take responsibility for telling their families." The captain said. "After all, I was the captain of the S.S Anne."
They were just about to arrange a memorial for Ash, Brock and Misty when the captain saw something.
"Hey look at that." He said.
He and Officer Jenny saw a dragon and Gyarados coming their way.
"Do you think that's a wild Gyarados?" The captain asked.
"I don't know." Officer Jenny admitted. "And that dragon is unfamiliar."
She was about to grab a Poke Ball, when they heard a voice.
"Hey there!" Misty shouted.
Gyarados stopped swimming and the dragon landed on the harbor.
Officer Jenny and the captain saw them.
"Is everyone all right?" Officer Jenny asked.
"We're fine." Ash answered.
He then stood up on his hind legs and returned to his human form.
"I'll call a ambulance." She said.
A ambulance took Ash, Misty and Brock to the hospital so they could be checked out after spending all that time on the S.S Anne. Misty returned Gyarados to it's Poke Ball. Eevee wanted to stay out of her Poke Ball to keep a eye on Ash. She wanted to stay with Ash.
Officer Jenny insisted that all three of them receive medical treatment, because of their recent experience.
It took two days, but with observation and lots of sleep they were all feeling better.
"So, your Magikarp evolved?" Ash asked.
"Yeah and get this." Misty said. "I'm no longer afraid of Gyarados."
Ash was happy for his friend. He turned to Pikachu and Eevee.
Brock told him that they had been with him the whole time he was resting. Ash picked them up and gave them a hug.
"Thanks for being with me, you two." He said.
"Pikachu." Pikachu smiled.
"Eevee." Eevee smiled.
Suddenly Eevee started to glow and evolved. In Eevee's place was a fox-like cat with a red gem on it's forehead.
"Espeon." It said.
Ash took out his Pokedex.
"Espeon, the Sun Pokemon. An evolved form of Eevee. It uses the fine hair that covers it's body to sense air currents and predict it's enemies actions."
"I've heard of Espeon." Ash said. "Eevee can evolve into it during the daytime. And Eevee can also evolve into Umbreon, but only during the evening."
He displayed Umbreon on the Pokedex.
"Umbreon, the Moonlight Pokemon. An evolved form of Eevee. When agitated, this Pokemon protects itself by spraying poisonous sweat from it's pores."
"Wow." Misty said. "I thought Eevee could only evolve into Vaporeon, Jolteon and Flareon."
"What amazes me." Brock continued. "Is that you don't need to use stones for these two to evolve from Eevee."
Ash rubbed his Espeon's head and Espeon enjoyed the attention she was receiving from her trainer.
The gang then checked out of the hospital.
"I would say that you three are lucky." Officer Jenny said. "We all thought that you three had died when the S.S Anne sank, but you survived."
The doctor insisted that Ash, Misty and Brock take a break before continuing just to perk themselves up from what they had just gone through.
The gang thought it was a good idea, so they enjoyed a nice day on the beach of Porta Vista feeling happy and better.
