The Epilogue
The days, weeks and months after the wedding flew by. Penelope and Colin did not leave their bedroom in the days before they left for Paris but Colin kept to his promise when they arrived in Paris and they did leave their inn to view the sights and immerse themselves in the French culture.
Penelope found she loved the travelling and Colin found he loved travelling with Penelope by his side. They almost hated the idea of returning to the 'ton but Colin's publishers wanted him back to work on the release of his Greek journal in time for Christmas and Penelope had a home to set up before she started working on her own column.
It was not long before Penelope discovered she was with child. Keeping with the Bridgerton traditions of his parents, Colin wanted to continue the naming of their children following alphabetical order, picking up where they had left off.
Isla Agatha Bridgerton came into the world in the late Spring, just before the start of a new season in the 'ton. She had her mother's flaming red hair and her father's green eyes.
Much to Violet and Portia's horror, both Colin and Penelope continued with their work. Colin's Greek journal was a great success and was quickly followed by his Italian journal and then an equally successful collaboration with his wife 'The Honeymooners Guide to Paris' while Penelope continued with her column as well.
Then, Colin left the 'ton for his next travel log, exploring Wales, Scotland and Ireland. He was barely away a week before he sent for Penelope and Isla to join him on his travels. He missed his family too much and could not settle without Penelope by his side. And despite the grandmothers airing their despair at the unconventional travelling with a baby, Penelope and Isla joined him.
On Isla's second birthday, Penelope revealed to Colin and family that she was with child again. Six months later, twins Jane Eloise Bridgerton and Kesmée Genevieve Bridgerton were born, both with their father's dark locks but Jane had her father's green eyes while Kesmée had her mother's blue eyes.
Colin stopped his travelling, knowing that they could not travel with three children under 3 years of age and threw his energy into his daughters and writing them bedtime stories while Penelope continued her column for a few more years, before the arrival of their fourth and final child; Lydia Antonia Bridgerton; a carbon copy of Penelope with red hair and big blue eyes.
Colin and Penelope knew they were not the traditional family and they always did what suited their family so when Eloise, who married Theo Sharpe, decided to use her dowry to open a school for girls, their girls enrolled to attend.
And when Theo encouraged Colin to let him publish his children's stories, Colin found success again as a writer, with Penelope as his editor, and it also helped Theo's publishing house become successful.
For Colin and Penelope, their life together with their four little women was blissful and Colin never wanted anything to change; not realising his little women would soon grow up and soon everything would change…
The end…or is it?
