tw: food allergies

"So, I have called a meeting about Lance, how sick he is." Allura was at the head of the meeting table, standing.

Everyone else was sitting, looking at her from their seats.

"I can't move him, he insists that he stays in his bed. At least we might know what it is." Hunk speculated.

"Yep. I checked on him. His temperature is up." Pidge said.

"I also...yeah he made a mess a time or two." Hunk cleared his throat.

A blush crept up on his cheeks, admitting to cleaning up.

Pidge interjected, saving Hunk from the spotlight, "Do you think it is a space related flu because ya know...we are in Space?"

Keith rolled his eyes.

"He had a food intolerant reaction. Pidge, please you saw him. You have to believe him otherwise we will lose his trust." Keith cleared his throat, arms crossed, "He also is being a prick, so if you want anything, go ask him. He is the one with the symptoms. Don't assume."

"That's true Keith." Shiro spoke.

Coran nodded along.

Pidge stilled, eyes shifting from Hunk to Keith.

"Sure." She said.

Allura chimed in, "It is best to ask him."

Pidge looked uncomfrotable in her seat, being shot down so quickly by everyone but Hunk.

There was a cold air of uncertainty relating to Lance that ran through the room.

There was a pause in the conversation, Pidge looking upset, Shiro was deeply concerned, and Allura trying to get the team back together. All on the same page...sort of.

Hunk just wanted Lance to be OK. Hunk missed when he hung out with Lance at the Garrison, the days when Lance ate everything and anything. He looked so happy in the mess hall, carefree with food and always enjoying life. There had never been anything like this before with Lance. Now Lance had to worry about new allergies, new intolerances.

Pidge tapped on the table and Allura looked to her thoughtfully.

"Pidge you may be right. It could just be a minor cold." Allura commented.

"You mean an allergy or intolerance." Keith had a serious expression, "It can be that too. I have an allergy to latex, so I know what it's like."

"Food allergies are different Keith." Pidge huffed.

"Do you think so?" Shiro asked.

"How do you know?" Keith shot back, "He is obviously hiding something!"

There was an electricity in the air. Hunk looked at Keith with his eyebrows scrunched up. Life outside the ship continued as normal, stars passing by, galaxies surrounding the small ship.

"I mean, that does make sense." Coran piped up then, "We may need to ask him more of what symptoms he has, like Keith said.

"Yeah." Keith said to Pidge.

"We can't fully discount a cold Keith." Allura said.

"Yeah." Pidge said to Keith.

Coran chuckled, "Doesn't exclude he has a cold triggered by tolerances being Immuno-comprimised."

"Oh yeah maybe." Allura said, "See we can have both sides."

"It's ok team." Shiro tried to calm down the team, mostly Pidge and Keith.

Coran continued, "We could find out what exact protein or allergen is in the food goo to make it allergy-friendly to Lance..." He trailed of, looking around, Pidge and Keith were glaring at each other. Allura was lost in thought and Shiro was trying to make Pidge and Keith not look at each other.

"Go on Coran, we are listening." Hunk said.

Only Hunk was listening.

Coran smiled, perking up, "I have dealt with a few Altean kids who had allergies. We engineered the goo and it took forever. It was a pain not getting it right the first few times but it felt wonderful but seeing the smiles on their faces after eating something that was safe for them..."

Shiro looked over to Coran, he was listening.

"Why would he do that?" Shiro asked, "Why would he keep it from us?"

"Lance doesn't want us to worry about him, that's just how he is." Hunk said, shrugging, "He is a very self-sufficient person and wants to help people as much as possible. So, he ignores himself. I don't know why, he has always done this."

Keith snorted, "Sounds like him. All the damn time."

Hunk then realized, it dawned on him after Keith said it.

"Guys," Hunk paled, "He has been telling us for a long time."

"Yeah no shit." Keith said.

"Then why didn't you say anything?!" Hunk asked Keith.

Keith stared at Hunk then shot a glance to Pidge and her eyes shifted away.

"Yeah, telling us upfront that he didn't feel good, you guys haven't figured this out already?!" Keith threw his hands up and left the room, a ball of fury.

There was full understanding in the rooms; Pidge gulped.
