Denji was still in something of a daze as Makima pulled him along through the hallway towards the door at the very end of it.
"Now remember Denji just let me do all the talking. These people are very important so only speak when I tell you to" Makima explained to him.
Denji just nodded along in agreement as they reached the door. Makima spoke something unintelligible before she opened the door and she pulled Denji through it with her. The young Devil Hunter had to close his eyes for a split second as light blinded his vision. And when he reopened his eyes he found himself in a completely different place.
What had been once the Devil Hunters HQ was now suddenly replaced from continuous grey walls to a luscious seemingly endless garden under a bright blue sky.
Denji thought it was beautiful, wishing Pochita was still here with him so they could run around the grass fields together, it felt to him like a dream come true. But in front of him stood his other dream, the beautiful Miss Makima beckoning him to come closer.
Behind her he saw a giant farmhouse, the biggest he had ever seen. She took his hand once more and guided him towards the giant farmhouse, his mind still comprehending how they got here but not asking any questions.
And why would he? Makima had just given him a taste of the good life, and they were closer than ever before.
As they reached the edge of the giant farmhouse, they took notice of a figure leaving through the doors. Denji noticed that it was a beautiful young woman with a pale face, white hair tied into a straight ponytail and wearing a white military outfit and matching cap, to her side was holstered a very long sword, almost looking like a saber.
Denji was positively staring at the young pale beauty walking through the doors of the farmhouse, his face blushing as he looked at her. Until he got a glimpse of Makima's golden eyes and smile and he instantly turned his eyes back to her, pretending he wasn't just ogling the other girl.
As they ultimately reached the doors where the military looking girl was standing, Makima stopped and gestured Denji to stay back and keep quiet.
The white haired girl eyed the pair up and down before speaking "who are you and what are you doing here?"
Makima smiled charmingly and said "my name is Makima. I have requested an audience with the Lord Titan. And who might you be?"
"Weiss" the military girl replied coldly.
"Ah Weiss it's good to meet you, I take it you must be one of the Lord Titan's subordinates?" Makima asked curiously but also rather condescendingly.
An annoyed expression glanced over Weiss's face before she replied with a low growl "I'm his daughter…"
"Oh my apologies I had no idea. Well we are here to see your father about some very important business. So if you don't mind" Makima began to pull Denji towards the door as he silently waved at a very annoyed looking Weiss.
"If you are hoping for a seat at the High Six then I'm afraid that spot is already taken. Good luck with your meeting though" Weiss said sarcastically as she walked away into the distance with Denji staring after her as Makima pulled him into the farmhouse.
The inside was big, in the middle of the room a giant table with multiple seats. And in the back entrance the fireplace was burning and Denji could clearly see the silhouette of what seemed to be a giant figure standing in front of the fireplace.
Makima took a few steps forward and made a small casual bow before speaking "my Lord Titan it is so good to see you once more."
"Cut the pleasantries Makima what was it that you needed to discuss with me so urgently" the loud booming yet commanding voice spoke.
"When I started working for you my Lord Titan, I promised you the Gun Devil."
"That you did. And as of now you still have not delivered" the giant figure spoke.
"I am aware. But I have something potentially better. This young man behind me is my loyal agent Denji, and he possesses the Chainsaw Devil."
Denji saw a slight movement coming from the figure "the Chainsaw Devil you say? That is quite a powerful one I hear."
"That indeed sir. And Denji hear has graciously offered his services to your organization, as a way of making up for my failure for getting the Gun Devil. I hope you will accept this humble offer."
Denji had never heard Makima talk so…almost submissively. He always looked at her as the one with all the answers and all the solutions, always the one in control of every situation. And even though she was still her usual calm self her voice sounded…almost differently.
"You boy," the voice said snapping Denji out of his thoughts "step forward."
Denji turned to look at Makima, who nodded at him and gestured for him to do as he was asked. And so Denji did, nervously taking a few steps forward walking next towards the giant wooden table in the middle. As he did the ominous giant silhouette of the apparent man in charge came into view.
Well it wasn't exactly a man. Was Denji was looking up at was a tall and imposing purple figure with a bald head and obviously very muscled physique, clad in a golden armor and most noticeably on his left hand a giant golden gauntlet with six colorful stones embedded into it. It was like a character straight out of a comic book.
"So you wish to serve the cause of the Collective?" the figure asked him.
Denji stood there with wide eyes looking up at him, having no idea what to say to this giant of a being. His eyes shot back to Makima, who reassuringly smiled at him.
"Yes sir. Whatever you need I will do so! If it helps Miss Makima I will do everything" Denji cried out determinedly looking up at the giant in front of him. The purple giant in term crossed his hands and turned his gaze to Makima "you got quite a loyal one with you."
"Indeed I do boss. There's just one thing I'd like to request?" Makima asked.
"And what may that be?"
"That any mission you give him will have to go through me first. He's my good little pup and I like to know what kind of missions you send him on, so you will come to me first and then I will assign them."
The giant simply nodded "that can be arranged" he said before turning his eyes back on Denji, who was on his knees in front of him. He raised his gauntlet up at Denji.
"Chainsaw Man. My name is Thanos, the last son of Titan, leader of the Collective and do you hereby swear to serve the Collective, and bring balance to all corners of existence."
Denji could barely understand what he meant but with Makima vouching for him and standing right there, the answer to that question was clear. Everything for Miss Makima, everything…for her.
"Yes I swear. I swear my loyalty to your organization."
