Enemy at the Gates.

Summary:

'We've spent 7 years fighting aliens across the universe in order to

preserve Earth, and we succeeded. Ironic really, that what we fought

so hard to protect, is what led to our demise'

Traces the lives of SGC personnel as Earth moves into World War 3.

A/N: I have drawn some scenarios from stories I have read, and

movies seen based on the events of World War II in the South

Pacific, and South East Asia, but is by no means based on the Pacific

War. The enemy is intentionally not given a race, but is simply 'the

enemy'

*Prologue.*

It was easy to forget about the problems of Earth when you worked

at the SGC. War was nonetheless a common occurrence here, with

one planet or another always under threat from a Goa'uld invasion, or

overrun by the replicators, Earth itself had been under threat a

multitude of times. But it had always been controlled, whether it be by

diplomat means or forcefully, Earth had been saved. But this time it

was different. No treaty with the Asguard or Tok'Ra could save them

now.

Only a few hours ago, had war been declared. The unknown enemy

had begun invading America with unforeseen force, taking the

country by surprise. Nobody knew who exactly the enemy was, just

that there were millions, and they were quickly conquering the West

Coast. All that was known for sure, was that their force was

unmatched by the Americans.

Communications were sent to the Asguard, the Tok'Ra, The Nox,

Tollan.. The invasion was not, as far as any of their allies could tell,

carried out by any known alien. The Tau'ri were once again, at war

with each other

All off-world teams were recalled immediately, Miss us already Sir?

Came Jack's first comment as he entered the SGC via the Gate. The

usual banter between the Colonel and the General of the

environment of the planet SG-1 had just returned from was foregone.

The sombre atmosphere in the gateroom was unmistakeable.

"What's happened?" Jack asked, the good humour evident only

moments before was gone.

General Hammond lowered his head, as the few soldiers in the room

turned away, as did the one technician, "An unknown force has

invaded the West Coast of the United States. War was declared a

little over 3 hours ago"

SG-1 remained silent, taking in what they have just been told. "Who?"

was Sam's simple response.

"We don't know" Hammond spoke, "Only that it's stronger than us.

And, based on Intel received, they are humans. From Earth"

Hammond waited for SG-1 to comment, however, nobody did. No

questions on the fate of the SGC, on redeployment. Just a blank look

covering each of their faces. "The SGC is being temporarily shut

down, pending the war. Sublevels 15 through 28, Stargate

Command, will be sealed. N.O.R.A.D. will continue above us, and

Cheyenne Mountain will be used as a base of operations. Colonel

O'Neill, Major Carter you are both being redeployed and will be

contacted on details within the hour."

"What about Daniel and Teal'c?" Jack spoke for the first time since

being told of the invasion.

"That's their choice. Of cause, once this is over, I will request you all

be transferred back to the SGC" Hammond stated, before leaving

SG-1. The 4 team members moved out, to their respective offices,

quarters and labs, Carter and O'Neill awaiting their calls. Teal'c and

Daniel to contemplate their future.
