Fred Weasley:

George passed him the acid pop and Fred tucked it away in his jacket sleeve. The two of them slowly made their way around the well trodden path that led to the tire swing hanging from the large oak that overlooked the pond. Fred's eye kept twitching reflexively as he thought about what had caused him to want to enact this current prank

Ron had been such a suck up to Mum today. He did absolutely everything she told him to do without complaining a single time about any of it, and it was driving Fred up the wall. Honestly, Ron was worse than Percy sometimes. At least Percy had things that he was interested in, Ron just acted like a puppet and it just freaked Fred out most of the time.

So Fred was going to get back at Ron. George and him had worked up a new invention using the potion infuser that Mum kept locked away with all of her potion things. George had found a very light acid and had infused it into a lollipop that Fred had nicked from the store the last time he made his way into town. Now, the plan was coming together as Fred saw Ron swinging on the tire.

Fred knew that he would be able to find Ron sitting on the swing. Everytime Mum let him loose after chores, he would always come here to this swing. Fred had spied on him enough times to know that Ron would just sit on that swing staring off into the distance for hours on end. It was so boring but Fred thought that there must be something to it, but after hours and hours of spying in the past, he found absolutely nothing. It was weird how much Ron would just sit there and look over the pond.

Fred ignored his thoughts and walked up to where Ron was sitting. "Hey little bro."
Ron looked up at him with his uncannily bright blue eyes that never seemed to focus on him in the moment. "Hello, Fred."

Fred grimaced at the emotionless way that Ron talked. "I wanted to apologize for being rude to you earlier," he said, pulling out the acid pop. "So I got you this to make up for it."

He gave the pop to Ron, who took it with a quiet "thanks."

The two just looked at each other for a long moment with blank expressions.

"Well are you going to eat it?" Fred asked in frustration.

"I don't think I want to," Ron said. Fred's eye twitched in annoyance. "I don't feel like my tongue burning today."

Fred felt something flip in his stomach. "W-what do you mean? It's just a lollipop."

Ron looked up at him again. "The acid you used is stronger than you think it is. If I lick it, it will burn through my tongue. You will probably get in trouble with Mum because of it."

His eye twitched. "I promise you that there is nothing wrong with that lollipop," Fred said a little too aggressively.

Ron just kept looking at him for a long moment. Eventually, he sighed, and started to unwrap the lollipop before sticking it into his mouth. Immediately he spit it out, and Fred could hear sizzling coming from his mouth. Fred felt vindicated at that and smirked at his brother.

"That's what you get for always showing everybody up," he said. "Maybe if you didn't always try to show how much better you are than everyone else, then I wouldn't have to do this."

Ron just kept looking at him with that infuriating expression. He opened his mouth to say something, but stopped when red liquid started pouring out of his mouth. He looked down at his tongue in curiosity and stuck it out to get a good look at it. Fred took a step back in shock at what he saw. A hole had been burned through the center of Ron's tongue.

Panic pooled in Fred's stomach as he realized what he did. Oh god, Mum was going to kill him. He brought his hands up to fret over Ron, but stopped when Ron moved.

Ron brought his left hand up and touched his middle finger to the tip of his tongue. After only a moment, the hole started to slowly close. Fred could only watch open mouthed as the hole disappeared. Ron closed his mouth and licked his lips before spitting out a wad of bloody spit. Fred was about to apologize when Ron finally spoke.

"Jealousy doesn't look good on you," Ron said. Fred froze where he stood. "I know what it feels like when you think that you are the lowest of us, but that's not the truth. There's no ranking between us, and not one of us is better than the other." He locked eyes with Fred's for what could have been the first time in their entire lives. "You have absolutely no reason to be jealous of me."

After saying that, Ron hopped off the tire swing and started walking back to the Burrow, leaving Fred standing there alone.
