It's gone.
It's all gone.
Casita's remains that are on fire lay in front of everyone.
Everything is gone.
Alma drops to her knees, saddened by what she is seeing before her. One of her biggest fears has come true.
The miracle is gone.
Everyone's gifts are gone.
The mountain is open.
Their Encanto is vulnerable now.
The rest of the Madrigals are saddened as well, especially Mirabel. Out of everyone in the family, she was the one who got along with Casita the most. But more importantly, she's worried about her family. What are they gonna do now?
Dylan is behind everyone, feeling sad and extreme guilt. He was the one who threw the wagon with the gunpowder barrels towards Syndrome's jet. It's his fault the miracle is gone. It's his fault the Madrigals lost their home.
He looks down in sadness, unable to see the Madrigals in pain.
Then, he quietly gasps. "No," he whispers.
As he looks on the ground, he sees something he never wanted to see in his life.
His family photo is destroyed.
How come he didn't realize it fell out of his pocket when he ran towards the gunpowder barrels? He kneels down as tears start forming. The photograph has been burnt to a crisp when the jet crashed. The only thing that remains of it is the section that contains little him.
He silently cries, as the only remains of his family are now gone.
Disintegrated into ashes.
As everyone is still grieving from losing something, Mirabel looks back at everyone. She lets out a sigh as life is now going to be difficult for them.
…
Then, something flies over her.
A golden butterfly.
It lands on one part of Casita that is not burning.
Then, she feels something as she looks at the butterfly.
A sense of hope.
Though their home is broken, everything will still be alright. From seeing how she helped reunite her broken family, she can help to get their home back.
She walks over to Abuela and kneels down to her. "Abuela…it'll be okay." "I don't know Mirabel, our home is gone," she says sadly.
"Sure it's gone, but we can fix it." The rest of the Madrigals, including Dylan, look up at Mirabel as she says that. "We are a family, a glowing constellation. Despite everything we have gone through in the past, we can still make things right. There is nothing that could ever be broken, that we can't fix…together."
Everyone smiles at Mirabel. Maybe they have lost their home, but it doesn't mean that they can't get it back together. Abuela cups Mirabel's cheeks. "Mirabel…"
"You are a miracle."
Abuela and Mirabel then hug, as the rest of the family make their way over to join in a group hug. Dylan smiles at them as they all have a sense of hope.
Mirabel opens her eyes and sees Dylan right next to the group. Then, she holds her hand out to him, wanting him to join. Dylan feels a bit uneasy about this.
Then suddenly, Mirabel grabs his hand and pulls him into the group hug. The other Madrigals hug Dylan as well. "And Dylan, I can finally see. You went through something terrible that no one should ever have gone through. You had so much taken away from you at such a young age. But it'll be okay, because you don't have to worry about losing us ever again." She pulls him a bit closer to her and places a hand on his cheek.
"Welcome to the family…Dylan Madrigal."
Dylan's heart is extremely touched. He feels tears of joy forming in his eyes. He has been welcomed into the Madrigal family. He tries to hug everyone in the group. Everyone then hugs him as well.
This hug is not like the hug for thanking him for saving their lives. This is to ensure Dylan that he no longer needs to worry. He no longer has to be all alone ever again. He no longer has to live in that void of emptiness within him. The Madrigals are the light that has guided him away from that tragic life.
For the first time in 13 years, he feels loved.
For the first time in 13 years, he's not alone.
For the first time in 13 years, he feels a great weight lifted off his shoulders.
For the first time in 13 years, he feels pure happiness.
For the first time in 13 years…he has a family.
And somehow, he cried even harder.
As everyone is still hugging each other, Antonio looks down the hill as he sees something. "What's wrong Toñito?" Pepa asks.
"It's everyone in town."
Everyone looks over and sees all the townsfolk marching up to them. They're all carrying tools and building supplies.
They're going to help the Madrigals rebuild Casita.
Eventually, the biggest project in the Encanto starts, with Mirabel and Dylan leading the whole thing. Just to make sure it doesn't take them months to rebuild Casita, Dylan calls Edna and asks for help.
She accepted his offer, and finally, she is able to meet all the Madrigals. Also, she still kept her promise of slapping Alma across the face, but Alma happily brushes it off as she felt she deserved it.
With the help of the townsfolk and Edna with her technology, the Madrigals make great progress everyday in rebuilding Casita. It also gave the Madrigals a chance to be themselves and learn that they're all more than just their gifts.
One day, as Julieta and Agustín are setting up butterfly tiles, they see Mirabel and Dylan working together in one part of Casita. Julieta smiles, "Would you watch our little girl go?" "She takes after you." They are both happy that Mirabel finally sees just how important she is for the family, and the fact she found someone just right for her.
Later that same day, Dylan sees Mariano sitting down on the steps a little sad. He walks over and sits next to him. "Ay Mariano, what's wrong man? Why so blue?" He looks up at the sky. "I just have so much love inside." Dylan gives him a cringe look as that's one of the weirdest things he has heard.
Then, Dylan smiles as he remembers something. "Ya know, I know Isabela has this cousin as well," he helps Mariano stand up, "have you met Dolores?"
Then suddenly, Dolores appears next to the two. She turns to Dylan, "Okay, I'll take it from here, goodbye." She then shoves Dylan out of the way and takes Mariano's hands as she looks at him.
"Mariano, you talk so loud. You take care of your mother and you make her proud. You write your own poetry every night you go to sleep. And now…I am seizing the moment for you to notice me." Dolores then pauses and maintains eye contact with Mariano, waiting for him to say something.
"Dolores, I see you."
"And I hear you."
Mirabel and Isabela, who are behind a donkey, silently cheer and high five as Isabela no longer has to worry about Mariano.
As Mariano and Dolores are walking away, Mariano speaks up. "Let's get married." "Slow down."
Then Dolores looks behind her and sees Dylan giving her a thumbs up. Dolores smiles at him. After all, Dylan's mom was right.
There is always someone out there for everyone.
A week later, Casita has finally been rebuilt. Mirabel and Abuela are admiring it. "Home sweet home. I like the new foundation." "It isn't perfect," Abuela jokes. "Neither are we."
Abuela looks at the door. "Just one more thing, before the celebration." "What?" Mirabel asks. Then, Bruno appears next to Mirabel. "We need a doorknob."
Mirabel looks down and sees Antonio. "We made this one for you." Mirabel holds her hands out and Antonio gives her a golden doorknob with an 'M' on it.
M for Mirabel.
M for Madrigal.
Mirabel looks up to see her family gathering around. Antonio walks to the left of her and holds her hand. He's going to walk Mirabel to the front door.
Then, she looks to her left and sees Dylan. He takes off his gloves of his agent suit and holds his hand out.
Both Dylan and Antonio are going to walk Mirabel to the front door.
As the three of them are walking up to the front door, everyone looks at Mirabel proudly.
After the events of last week, they've seen how bright she burns, how brave she's been, and how determined she is.
And now, she sees herself for just how special she really is.
All with the help of her boyfriend.
And more importantly, they are happy for how much she loves them. If things were different, their negligence of her could've made her into someone like Syndrome.
Dylan and Antonio let go of Mirabel's hands as Abuela approaches her. "Open your eyes. Abre los ojos." Mirabel smiles as she remembers those words from Abuela during her gift ceremony. "What do you see?" Mirabel looks at her reflection in the doorknob, with tears of joy forming.
"I see…me…all of me."
Mirabel then turns to her family, who are all smiling at her. She then turns to Dylan, and holds her hand out. Dylan is a bit confused about what is going on. Mirabel then gestures her head to the door, which Dylan understands now.
She wants to put the doorknob on the door with him.
Dylan accepts and the two walk up to the door. Dylan and Mirabel then both take hold of the doorknob, and place it on the front door.
Then, Casita shines brightly in magic. Everyone looks at it in awe. The magic has been restored.
Then, the glow dies down, revealing the front door with every Madrigal on it, including Dylan.
Then, one of Casita's shutters waves at Mirabel. She waves back.
"Hola Casita"
Then, the rocks in the stone path drag Mirabel and Dylan into Casita as the front door opens. Dylan looks back at everyone. "C'mon, get in here!" Then, Casita drags everyone in for the party to start.
Inside, everyone sees that all their doors are back, as well as their gifts.
Antonio is happily going around on his jaguar. Along with taking Juan for a ride. Isabela is happily growing exotic plants all around. Luisa is happy to have her gift back. Then, a donkey brings her to a hammock to relax with a drink.
Alma, Dylan, and Mirabel are together, enjoying what they are seeing before them.
Then, Casita brings the Madrigals close together for a family photo, with Mirabel and Dylan at the center. It then brings a camera in, that is being operated by one of Bruno's rats.
"Everyone, together!"
"LA FAMILIA MADRIGAL–AH!"
Then, Casita squeezes everyone together, while the jaguar that is still carrying Antonio and Juan runs across.
Snap!
After that, everything has been different.
Mirabel and Dylan have their own separate rooms, which will become together if they ever get married.
Mirabel's room is a whole butterfly garden. On one side is a whole place for her sewing station. Her room also has a whole library of a bunch of books she likes to read.
Dylan's room is a lot more. His room is based on his old modern mansion back in Miami. It has a TV area with a red sofa, and an automatic fireplace. Around his sofa are the water features that he remembers.
In his bedroom is a secret compartment where he can store his agent gear like his gadgets and his suit.
Another section has Dylan's electric guitar collection. Along with many records of his favorite rock bands.
Metallica
Eagles
Black Sabbath
AC/DC
Nirvana
Mötley Crüe
Aerosmith
Van Halen
As well as a few 60s style jazz records.
Outside his room on the wall next to his door, is a restored family photo, indicating to Dylan that even with his new family, they are still watching him from above.
Also, since they now have a dimensional device, Abuela agreed for the family to go on vacations to Dylan's dimension. Which is also good since Edna made Pepa a device that is fused with the magic that helps give her more control over her weather.
Since all the townsfolk now know Dylan's agent identity and how good of a person he is, everyone now treats him with respect. He also tells stories from his agent days to the town kids.
For Javier and his friends, they finally apologized to Mirabel and Dylan for mistreating them. Although still a bit resentful, Mirabel and Dylan accepted their apologies. And since Dylan can be forgiving, he got Javier a special surgery from his dimension to get his spine fixed, so he can now walk again.
For William and Edna, they have become close friends with the Madrigals, to which they sometimes come over to visit.
To sum it all up, everything is great.
…
Oh, and Dylan did request a new rule for the Encanto that Alma accepted.
We don't talk about Syndrome.
A week after Casita has been rebuilt, Dylan is getting ready for his first actual date with Mirabel. They have rented out one of the fancy restaurants in the Encanto for their date.
After he gets ready, he waits in the courtyard for Mirabel with Agustín. "I'm so glad Mirabel found someone like you Dylan. You truly are a good man who will take care of my daughter." "Thank you Agustin." Agustín gives him a smile and raises an eyebrow. "Just make sure to not get into any funny business." Dylan chuckles, "Don't worry about that. Me and Mirabel both agreed to take our relationship slow. Extremely slow."
Then, Antonio, who is on top of the stairs, clears his throat. "Mirabel is ready." Dylan looks up the stairs and sees Mirabel in a beautiful dress that she and Edna had worked on. "You look beautiful my love." Mirabel blushes. "Thank you mi amor." The two then walk out of Casita as they head out for their date.
Alma looks at them in happiness. When she looks at the two together, that's where she truly sees herself and Pedro together. Not like Isabela and Mariano since Isabela didn't like him.
After dinner, the two walk out onto the dance floor outside. Dylan holds his hands out. "May we dance?" "Yes."
Mirabel takes Dylan's hand and Dylan remembers everything Pepa and Félix taught him when it comes to dancing. Mirabel wraps her other arm around Dylan's upper back, while he wraps his other arm around her waist. The two then slowly dance together, while the men in the background with instruments play a slow love song.
"I'm glad we're together Dylan." So am I Mirabel," he says back. Then, his face falls a bit sad while they're dancing. "Umm…I'm sorry again for lying to you." "It's okay. I'm pretty sure you were scared of losing my trust if you told me about you doing agent work illegally," she assures him. "I know…but it almost got you and your family killed."
Mirabel looks at him. "Hey, don't worry. Besides, from now on, if you're willing to risk your life for me, so am I." Dylan chuckles at her. "I love you Mirabel." "I love you too Dylan."
Then, they lean their heads forward until their foreheads are touching, both feeling a tension rising in the back of their throats. Then, they slowly close their eyes and lean forward a bit more, until they feel each others' breaths on their lips.
But this time, no one is here to bother them.
The two then share a passionate kiss under the moonlight.
3 months later
April 15th, 1916(2022)
After 3 months, everything was still good. Mirabel is now 16 years old. When her 16th birthday came along, the family decided to make up Mirabel's quinceañera. It was the biggest quinceañera the Encanto has ever seen, and of course, Dylan was her main chambelan.
Right now, he Madrigals are in Dylan's dimension at the Citi Field stadium, watching the New York Mets play against the San Francisco Giants. They are all enjoying the game as they are sitting close to the field. It is the final inning and both teams are tied.
Dylan and Camilo have been trying their hardest to catch a baseball that comes in their direction. Dolores has gotten her earmuffs fixed and is able to wear them during the game.
Mirabel is sitting on the other side of Dylan. "I don't think you and Camilo are going to catch a ball." "Hey, it's always worth a shot," Camilo responds.
Dylan places a hand on his forehead. "C'mon man, the Mets can't lose their first game of the season." "I'm sure they'll do fine, Dylan. Besides, even if they lose, you can always take out your frustrations like I do with sewing."
Dylan adjusts his buttoned down long sleeved shirt. "Yeah maybe, I especially see you sew my insignia on your skirt while you were cranky one time." Mirabel looks at her skirt and sees Dylan's insignia she has embroidered. "Well…I did it because I was thinking of you." Dylan laughs at her joke.
CRACK!
The Mets have hit a ball, and it's flying high across the stadium. Camilo gets up. "DYLAN, IT'S COMING GET READY!" Dylan puts on his baseball glove and gets ready to catch the ball.
Then, in one lucky moment, Dylan reaches his hand out and catches the baseball. The Madrigals cheer for him as he catches the baseball. But not only that, because–
"HOMERUN!"
The whole stadium erupts into cheering as the Mets have scored a home run. The Mets have won the game. All the Madrigal boys start cheering and give each other high fives and bro hugs to celebrate. While the Madrigal women watch them and shake their heads.
"Men," Isabela mutters.
Later, the Madrigals are walking across the parking lot, thinking of looking for a place to get ice cream. Camilo is holding the ball Dylan caught. "Nice catch you did back there Dylan." "Hey, you have to go to a lot of baseball games to learn to catch a home run or foul ball like that."
As everyone continues walking and chatting, Dolores, who took off her earmuffs, stops as she hears something. Everyone turns to her in confusion. "Are you okay Dolores?" Pepa asks. "I hear something odd." "What do you he–"
CRASH!
All of a sudden, the ground starts shaking as cars on the other side of the parking lot are thrown around. People are screaming as they have no idea what is going on.
Then suddenly, a gigantic drill vehicle with two drills emerges out of the ground. After it comes to a complete stop and the drills stop spinning, a hatch on the top opens up and a small platform is raised up, carrying a short mole-looking man wearing a miner uniform, who is holding a microphone.
"BEHOLD, THE UNDERMINER!"
The Madrigals look in shock of what's going on. A new supervillain has arisen.
"I AM ALWAYS BENEATH YOU, BUT NOTHING IS BENEATH ME!"
Then, Dylan looks at the Madrigals as he sees something. Apparently, Edna also made agent suits for the Madrigals. They're all similar to Dylan's agent suit with the black base, but the sleeve stripes and belts are in each of their respective colors, as well as their insignias that have their own letters. For some reason however, Isabela is the only one to have a lower case letter on her insignia.
"I HEREBY DECLARE WAR ON PEACE AND HAPPINESS!"
As the Madrigals put on their sunglasses as well, they all turn to Dylan with smirks. He then smiles and switches his glasses out with his sunglasses.
"SOON ALL WILL TREMBLE BEFORE ME!"
Then, Dylan pulls back his buttoned down shirt, unveiling his agent suit's insignia as he prepares to fight the newly aroused threat as a Special Ops Agent.
This time…with his newfound family.
The End
AND LIKE THAT EVERYONE THE STORY IS OVER!
Wow, I have many things to say, and I'd appreciate it if you take the time to read my closing note.
First of all, I'd like to thank everyone who read EnCIAnto. I did not expect this many people to enjoy it. When I first started this story back in April, I thought it was going to be terrible. But somehow, it actually did good, and I'm surprised. I'm glad y'all enjoyed my story. Do let me know what your favorite chapter was.
Next, I'm sure you all if I'll continue on with the story and make a sequel. And let me tell you, I have no idea. I don't know if I will be doing a sequel or not, but if I do, I want you guys to answer this following question for me:
Should I wait for a possible Encanto 2 and cross it over with the Incredibles 2, or should I do the sequel entirely with the Incredibles 2?
Now, I have other news. I have no idea if I will be doing a sequel or not, but I will start a oneshot request fic based on this story on AO3 after I take a break for 2 months. There you guys can request ideas for oneshots based on the story for me to write(And of course that doesn't mean to request ideas right here).
Also, I've seen some people do this and it gave me the idea of a fic of the canon Madrigals read my story(also on AO3). However, I won't be writing that. Instead, if one of you guys wants to do it, just ask me permission in the comments and I'll choose one of you.
Anyways, thank you all for reading my story.
This is Minecraftgood
