Almost 2 months later, Hiro and Karmi woke up together on Halloween morning. The radio from the living room was playing again, as they awoke to "Never Forget You" by Zara Larsson. Karmi had come down to visit again, for the first time since that fairytale night. This time they had planned a Halloween party. The time they spent apart was difficult as always, but nothing was going to beat them now. They'd been through too much now to let anything stupid ruin what they had. The distance was obviously still a big problem, but they both learned to live with it. Hiro groaned sleepily and turned over to Karmi.

'Morning, babe,' he said in a croaky voice.

'Morning, babe. It feels so good waking up next to you, you know.'

'Oh, it's the best feeling. And it's moments like this we've really gotta appreciate, right?'

'Yeah, that's what makes them special.'

'Exactly. I cherish every single second we get together. Love you.'

Hiro reached his hands out to cuddle Karmi. They rested their foreheads up against each other and smiled.

'Love you too.'

They cuddled and stayed in bed for a while, until they heard a shout from Cass. Breakfast was ready. They reluctantly let go of each other and freshened up. When they were finished, they headed straight downstairs and saw two full slap-up breakfasts waiting for them. They had toast, beans, eggs, bacon and sausages. There were also two pumpkin spiced lattes, to add to the Halloween vibes the Lucky Cat had today. Cass always fed them well. They thanked her for the food and tucked right in.

'You know, it's a real shame you don't live here anymore, Karmi. Hiro's so much happier when you're here with him,' said Cass.

'Aww, I know. If I could come back, I really would. But I'd rather have Hiro in my life in some capacity than not at all. I think we've both proven already that we can't really live without each other.' Cass snorted.

'Yeah! If you saw the way Hiro mopes about when he's really missing you, you'd see just how much he misses you.'

'Oh, really?' Karmi grinned smugly at Hiro.

'Aunt Cass!' exclaimed Hiro, feeling embarrassed yet again.

'Oh! Sorry! I'm doing it again, aren't I?'

'Yup. But she is right, Karmi. If only you could move back…' Silence.

'So! What's happening tonight then?' asked Cass.

'Oh, we're going to a Halloween party at Fred's!' answered Karmi.

'Ooh! Sounds good! Make sure you look after Karmi, Hiro. Halloween can be a crazy night!'

'Of course,' said Hiro with a mouthful of egg. Cass and Karmi laughed at him.

'Chew your food before you speak!' said Karmi.

Hiro shrugged and continued eating. Karmi sighed and rolled her eyes. She couldn't help but admire him, even when he was being a right idiot. After they had finished eating, Hiro and Karmi spent the day together carving pumpkins, apple bobbing, baking treats, eating candy and watching a scary movie. The sky was getting darker now, which meant the night was nearly upon them and the party was starting soon. They both got dressed into their costumes. Hiro waited for Karmi in his room in a Dracula outfit with pointy teeth. She was changing in the bathroom. Then she eventually came out later and stood in Hiro's doorway, wearing a witch outfit with a broomstick.

'Well, what do you think?'

'I think you're the sexiest witch I've ever seen! How's this?' Hiro got up and lifted his cape up to his mouth. Karmi giggled.

'Well, as far as vampires go, you're not a bad looking one.' Hiro cackled like a vampire.

'Well! You won't mind if I suck your blood then!' said Hiro in a funny voice. He nibbled at Karmi's neck playfully.

'Hey! Stop that!' she cried through fits of giggles.

Karmi hit him with her broom. They kept giggling and shared a kiss. Then something clicked behind them. It was Cass taking pictures of them.

'Aww, you two are so cute! Great outfits guys!'

Hiro and Karmi posed for more photos. Now was as good a time as any to make more memories to look back on. Once Cass was satisfied, she let them go and waved them off with Baymax as they left. Baymax was staying home to help Cass with trick or treaters. He was wearing a pirate costume with a hook.

Hiro and Karmi took a cable car to Fred's, holding hands the whole way. Almost everyone on the cable car was dressed up too and there were even more when they got off and walked down Fred's street. San Fran really took Halloween seriously. They got to Fred's front door and rang the bell. A mummy opened the door. It made groaning noises and stuck his arms out in an attempt to scare them.

'Haha! You'll have to do better than that to scare us, Heathcliff! Heathcliff cleared his throat.

'So it seems… Welcome, Hiro. Welcome, Karmi. Please do come in. Master Frederick is in the lounge room with Miss Olivia.' He moved out of the way and extended his arm for them to enter.

'Don't worry, Heathcliff. You'll definitely get Wasabi!'

Hiro and Karmi laughed and walked inside to the lounge room. Fred heard them coming and decided to try and catch them by surprise. He put on his mask and screamed at them as soon as they entered the room. Hiro and Karmi yelped a little and held onto each other. They were definitely taken by surprise by Fred. He was wearing a scary zombie costume too, after all.

'Haha! Got you! Welcome to my humble abode!'

'I mean, that is a pretty damn good costume! And you are a bit scarier than Heathcliff,' joked Hiro.

'Hey, guys! Good to see you together again! You look great!' said Olivia. She was dressed in a pixie outfit.

Hiro and Karmi said hello and sat down on the sofa with them. Heathcliff had prepared snacks and punch and set up the music. Everything was ready for a fun ghoulish night. They were just waiting for the rest of the guys now.

'So, where are you guys at now? I mean you do look pretty loved up!' said Olivia.

'Oh, we're doing really well!' said Karmi. 'I think pretty much everything's been ironed out now. The only problem is the distance of course… but it feels like nothing can break us now.' Hiro grabbed Karmi's hand.

'Yeah, I think once you start saying the L word, everything just feels right. And any obstacles along the way just bring us closer together.' Karmi kissed him on the cheek. Olivia could see how much they loved each other and really admired it.

'That's pretty much exactly what Freddie and I went through. I mean, we're lucky distance isn't an issue. But we still had our problems, didn't we Freddie? She nudged him.

'Oh! Oh, yeah! Plenty! But love's never easy, is it?'

Everyone nodded their heads in agreement and then there was a knock at the door. Wasabi, Honey Lemon and Gogo all came together. Heathcliff did indeed frighten the pants off Wasabi, which made everyone laugh. And the fact he was dressed as a germ made it even funnier. Gogo came as a werewolf and Honey Lemon came as a unicorn. Once everyone had come in and said hello to each other and got a drink, Fred turned off the main lights and put on some halloween themed lights.

'Right! Now we're all here, it's time to party! Happy Halloween everyone! Start the music please, Heathcliff!'

Everyone whooped and raised their drinks. Monster Mash was the first song of the night as everyone started to sing along. This time, it was less of a party and more of a get together. Wasabi was hiding behind the sofa, watching IT with an amused Gogo. Nothing fazed her. Honey Lemon and Olivia were talking in a corner and complimenting each other's outfits. While Fred, Hiro and Karmi were playing card games. Fred was barely in the game though, as Hiro and Karmi engaged in a heated duel between each other. Then suddenly, just as Karmi was about to win, her phone buzzed. She looked at the preview message and immediately rushed off towards the bathroom.

'Hey! You okay, babe?'

'Yeah! I've just got to go to the toilet. I'll be back in a minute!'

'Oh, okay…' Hiro frowned. He had a feeling it was more than that.

Hiro and Fred sat and waited, for well over five minutes. Hiro was getting a little worried now and thought about knocking on the door, but then his phone started ringing. He wouldn't be able to hear a thing with the music in the background, so decided to take it in another room. It was an unknown number. Hiro answered it out of curiosity.

'Hello? Who is this?' All Hiro heard was heavy breathing for a couple seconds and then an old, but distinctive voice spoke to him.

'Hello, it's me,' said the voice. Hiro's eyes widened in shock.

'No, no that's not possible! You're dead!'

'No, I'm not. It's really me. It's… Tadashi. Your big bro.'

'No. I put you to rest a very long time ago. This cannot be happening!'

'But it is. Remember, nothing's impossible if you look for a new angle…'

Those last few words made Hiro's spine tingle. The dead was speaking to him, clear as day. Hiro was stunned, but then quickly collected himself.

'Okay. If you're really still alive, then where are you?' he questioned.

'I'm closer than you think. Just step outside…'

'What do you mean?'

Hiro's phone beeped and the call ended abruptly. He pondered on what had just happened. Then he started remembering what happened two Halloweens ago, when Obake tricked him into believing Tadashi was still alive. He remembered how much it ripped him apart, so vowed to himself he was never going to fall for it again. He'd accepted and come to terms with Tadashi's death a very long time ago. To resurface all those old feelings was absolute torture for him. But it sounded exactly like him. Hiro wasn't fooled for a second, but the urge to go outside and solve this mystery was too strong. He rushed towards the door impulsively and his hand reached for the door knob. His hand shook as he hesitated to open it. And then seconds later, human instinct kicked in and he flung it open and ran outside. Nothing. Just owls hooting and crickets cricketing. Hiro flung his hands out in disbelief and angrily turned back. His hand was on the door and ready to push it, but then he heard the voice again.

'Hey, bro.'

Hiro rotated around slowly. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw him. In the flesh. Tadahsi was standing right there in front of him.

'No. This isn't real. This isn't happening,' dismissed Hiro.

'I'm literally right here.'

'I don't believe it.'

'Follow me and I'll prove it to you. Come on.'

Hiro raised an eyebrow and then Tadahsi walked off. Hiro shook his head again and nearly went back inside. But something inside was not letting him turn his back on this. Against his better judgement, Hiro followed him into the hollow twilight of the night.

Back in the house, everyone was having fun and no one had noticed Hiro was gone. All of sudden, an alarm blared from Boss Awesome's secret lair, so loud it overpowered the music. Thriller was playing, when Heathcliff immediately turned it off. Everyone rushed over to the lair. Karmi was still in the toilet and panicked. She had no idea what was happening. Fred got to the room first and saw a warning message, informing everyone that there was a security breach at Basemax. Everyone quickly reacted and ran out. Karmi rushed out of the bathroom.

'Wh-What's happening? Where's Hiro?'

'No idea! But there's a security breach at Basemax. Maybe he got kidnapped and is being held hostage there!' theorised Fred. Karmi put her hand over her mouth.

'Well, what are we waiting for then! We have to go rescue him! Now!'

Everyone nodded. Fred asked Heathcliff to drive them and told him to step on it when they got in the limo. Karmi bit her nails frantically and bounced her leg anxiously for the whole journey. Everyone tried to phone him on the way, but there was no answer.

Meanwhile, Tadashi had stopped in front of a graveyard. Hiro cautiously stayed back, still not trusting him. Then Tadashi turned to face him and gave him a cold, vacant stare.

'Okay, so how are you going to prove it to me then? What's this graveyard got to do with it?'

Tadashi didn't reply. His lips slowly turned into a sadistic smile and then rather unsettlingly, started to laugh like a madman. He was completely deranged. Then he wagged his finger and tutted.

'Seems you're not as smart as I thought you were, Hiro.'

He didn't sound anything like Tadahsi now. Hiro was scared. Tadashi's eyes suddenly became sunken and parts of his face deteriorated and melted away. There was a fizzling sound and he started to go out of focus. His face flickered into a half human, half machine skeletal face. Half of the mouth was like a grill, the nose was bent in an unnatural way and the left eye was a red glass eye, twitching around creepily. Tadashi was gone. It was merely a hologram, revealing the devil himself. Hiro almost stopped breathing as he discovered just who it was.

'The Eliminator,' he quivered.

'Correct, Mr. Hamada,' he said in a scratchy metallic voice.

As he spoke, Hiro could see the Eliminator's copper teeth through two strings of gummy skin on the human side of his mouth. His whole right cheek was almost completely torn off.

'Now, you will listen to me very carefully. If you want your friends and your precious girlfriend safe, you will meet me at your headquarters in half an hour. That is where your fate lies tonight, Mr. Hamada. If you fail to show within the time allocated, they will die. DON'T keep me waiting.'

The Eliminator grinded his copper teeth and then the hologram sizzled out. Hiro took a moment to process everything and tried not to lose his head. He slapped himself and got his game face on. He had to get this right even if he was terrified. His family was at stake here. He quickly called Baymax and got suited up in his super suit. Baymax arrived promptly. No further words were said. Hiro quickly boarded on him and instructed him to set coordinates for Basemax. They reached it in double quick time. Hiro climbed off Baymax.

'Wait here, Baymax. I'm going in alone. When I need you, I'll send a signal. You know what to do? You know the plan, right?'

'Yes, I know. Please take care, Hiro.'

'Don't worry, buddy. This will all be over soon.'

Baymax gave him a thumbs up and with that, Hiro was on his way to face his boogeyman…
