Vara: Day 24
The freak out was only the start of the day. Peach is searching around the camp, but hears footsteps approaching behind her. She turns around to see T'Challa with a puzzled look on his face. "What's going on?" he asks, and she starts panting from exhaustion. "My idol's gone..again. It's bad to point fingers, so I just thought i would see if I dropped it."
"Need any help?"
"I would love it."
The Wakandan starts grasping at the bamboo in the shelter, widening a gap to look through. "I have nothing, what about you?" he asks, and gets a scoff back, followed by silence. He looks over, and sees Peach frowning. "I'll look one more time, and if I can't find it, I'll just have to start playing bad cop."
That just makes him frown.
T'Challa: This hurts me on a moral level. She's the most innocent on the island, and doesn't deserve this. Sadly, nice alone doesn't win, so I'll still have to keep my plan a secret until the last minute.
—
Later, a down Peach gets ready for a nice swim, when Snake approaches her from the side. They both come to a stop as he starts a conversation on the sand.
"T'Challa said you were upset. Anything I can do to help?" reveals Snake, which makes Peach smile. "Thanks for checking up on me, and I'm doing better. Just about to head out for a swim actually." she admits. "Have fun. I'll be making chicken if you need any."
She turns to the waters ahead. "I really appreciate that." she says, before headed on her way. "Bye Snake!" she exclaims, before leaving him alone. Snake doesn't waste any time looking on, and heads for the pots and pans.
Peach: Hearing Snake just CARE has redeemed him for me. We all thought he did it but as it turns out, he does have a soft spot after all..
In his confession, Snake is sitting alone with a dead chicken in his hand (the poor children).
Snake: We aren't friends, but one on one was the best way to clear my name. When T'Challa drops the bomb, she's going to be shook to the core. Nobody would expect him, but that's what makes him so dangerous.
He drops his chicken into the pot, and wipes his hands together.
Snake: Don't blame me, it's not my plan.
—
Later, while the other four castaways are doing their own thing, Snake and Ripley are alone at the shelter, watching the chicken cook.
Given who the two are, strategy talk comes up quickly.
Ripley: I'm doing this for social status alone. We are keeping our groups together, detonating ourselves does us no favors. He should know the same.
Snake: We're getting smaller by the day. Having some relationship with Ripley would do me good, even if we may not work together.
The topic of Dante's immunity streak comes up here. "He has one #£/ of a case. Two challenge wins, always in the know, we have to take him out soon." points out the Metal Gear MC. "You two may be calling the shots but knowing the jury he can get more credit for them." Ripley, already knowing this, has a response in mind. "I know. If he loses voting may not just be about sticking together anymore."
"If he loses, it's a rare shot to take him out. T'Challa can't win everything."
"He could."
After a few more minutes of discussing who's better at challenges, the topic shifts to alliances. "Do you think there's a chance that those four (Peach/Zelda), (T'Challa/Dylan) can unite?" asks Snake, which Ripley replies "Well we're on different sides so I doubt it."
"It's still possible."
"It is but Dante's still here and I doubt we let Peach or Zelda join forces with them. T'Challa is a beast and high on our radars."
With that response, Snake leans on the shelter wall. "..If anything does happen, I'll let you know. It's better to keep an eye out, Dylan or Zelda could always make piece."
Ripley: Snake has always sketched me out, but I have a better relationship with him over T'Challa…then again this "quad alliance" could just be a decoy reason to keep him around.
Snake: I'm ready for anything. T'Challa may burn a bridge after he's done, but Dylan doesn't like to burn people…need to keep an eye on that kid.
—
Immunity Challenge
Jeff waits alone in the challenge area. There is a elevated, wooden "X" in the air, with sand below the platform. There are stairs that lead up to four corners of the course, however we don't know what it is yet.
"Come on in!"
The seven castaways enter, with the necklace around Dante again. Jeff Probst himself is there, with the stand next to him.
"Dante, I'll be taking that back."
Dante unhooks the necklace and hands it to Jeff, who hooks it back around the stand, and faces the remaining seven.
"Immunity is back up for grabs." he begins. "But before we get to today's challenge, there is another opportunity…to sit out, and save your energy for the next one." As he speaks, an intern brings up a box with a cloth on it. "If you sit out, you will be rewarded with this.." he says, before ripping the cloth off!
On the plate is a platter: Fruit, vegetables, junk food, meat, everything all in one. "There will be tough challenges coming up, and you may need it." Nobody seems to budge at first…until Dylan raises a hand. "Yeah, I'm not winning anyway." That makes Snake roll his eyes, while T'Challa looks at him with reassurance, and whispers "We'll be ok."
Dylan: Love the guy but he can just cry about it. This challenge clearly has a balance part, and I'm not even good at balancing. It's ok to admit where you suck. I'm not Hercules…but i'd like to be.
He stands by Jeff, with the host not done. "Anyone else want this? Free food." he pushes, but still, no one else budges. He hands the box to Dylan. "You have this all to yourself, head to the bench and watch the show." he orders, and Dylan heads to the Sit out bench. Jeff turns his attention back to the six competing castaways in this challenge.
"For today's challenge, we call it "King of the Mountain." you will have to balance on and push your opponents off those wooden beams. The first round will be played one on one, while the last will be played with the three that advance." explains Jeff. "We will randomly draw who goes against who, and get started…"
—
Matches = First Round
#1– Peach vs. Ripley
#2– Snake vs. T'Challa
#3– Dante vs. Zelda
—
Jeff stands on a podium above the action, watching like a hawk. Peach and Ripley stand across from each other on platforms, only one advancing.
#1: Peach vs. Ripley
The Princess and the Astronaut are in sights.
"First match of the challenge! Survivors ready? GO!"
Peach uses her past sports experience to balance. Ripley stays low as she moves forward, ready to grasp for protection if she needs it.
When the two do meet at the center, Peach launches herself at Ripley! The two stumble, but Peach stays on her feet! Ripley already seems like she's about to fall until she grabs onto her hair! Dylan winces on the sidelines.
Dylan: Oh so we'll be modest and polite at camp but these challenges? There is no such thing as friendship.
She keeps on pulling her hair, until Peach steps on her foot! She goes to take down, until Ripley does some quick thinking, using her momentum against her and making her trip off the side! She hits the sand, but luckily for them the "X" isn't very high.
"RIPLEY MOVES ON!"
Ripley hops off the X and heads towards a rising Peach.
"Did you have to do that?"
"It was me or you."
Ripley: She's the sweetest girl ever, but just because you're sweet doesn't mean I'll go easy on you.
Jeff points out Snake and T'Challa. "Snake, T'Challa, you're up!" he states, as the two head for opposing stairs.
—
#2: Snake vs. T'Challa
Like the two allies before, it was their turn to clash.
"Survivors ready? GO!"
Balance isn't a hassle for either of them, as they soon meet near the middle. Snake immediately sweeps his legs and sends T'Challa sidefirst onto the beam! There's some wincing on the sidelines, but the Panther toughs it out and gets back to his feet…
..only to get sweeped again! This time he almost, falls but wraps himself around the beam! He rotates himself downward and looks to crawl over from below! Knowing his feet were at a disadvantage, Snake decides to plant himself and rotate to the bottom too, using his strength to keep his hands at the top!
The mercenary lifts his feet and starts KICKING at his arms, trying to make him lose his grip and plant down into the sand! The cat's grip doesn't budge though, as he instead unwraps his legs, with his back taking the shot instead! He is watched judgementally by Ripley on the side.
Ripley: He's an athlete, but I didn't know what he was thinking. He left himself open to take hit after hit, and Snake's hits? They do damage!
She would be proven wrong though, as T'Challa moves his hands at the top…he starts turning towards Snake's direction, despite getting kicked up by his opponents feet. He manages to turn all the way and starts lifting HIS feet, as he and Snake start exchanging boots!
T'Challa: As a King I have to be in great shape constantly. That is why fitness pays off!
Both aren't willing to lose grip for a while, still kicking away as we hear from Dylan.
Dylan: They have to be loving that. Snake still has a stick up his butt about Wade and T'Challa…he just really needs to win.
Their antics don't go on for much longer, as Snake kicks one leg away, T'Challa raises the other higher…
"Sorry."
He nails Snake in the face to the shock of the others! Peach puts both hands on her cheeks. "My goodness! Is he ok?" she asks. "This is a cruel challenge." comments Zelda.
Zelda: The worst is being brought out of everyone. I have Dante next so I will have to follow.
Nonetheless, Snake loses his grip and hits the sand, out of this challenge.
"T'CHALLA MOVES ON!"
The Panther hops off and heads to Snake immediately. "Are you alright?" he asks, and Snake just gives him a thumbs up. "Should have done that last time." he jokes, which makes T'Challa chuckle. "You do have a sense of humor after all."
"Enjoy it while it lasts."
While those two walk back, Jeff calls for the last two. "Dante, Zelda, you're up!" he calls, and the two head for the opposing stairs.
—
#3: Dante vs. Zelda
The two are across, knowing that only one of them can actually win this.
"One spot left! Survivors ready? GO!"
Balance isn't a big problem for those two either. When it comes time to meet, Zelda starts with a dirty tactics and kicks him in the GROIN! He lets out a welp as the other castaways are flabbergasted!
"What are you people on?!" asks Dylan. "Someone slipped a brick in the ocean." replies Ripley.
Dylan: Yeah it seems like it!
Zelda's next move is to go for his legs, and she does, desperately trying to lift up the weakened man, but he isn't down for long, as he gets his hands around her ribs, and starts to lift HER! Zelda desperately tries to wiggle free, but he has his grip on extra tight.
"Never do that again!"
He tosses her to the side, looking to get rid of her! She manages to get a hand out and grips on for a moment, but it's for nothing and she slips off!
"DANTE MOVES ON!"
Dante hops off the X and walks to Zelda rather than run, who is quick to her feet. "Nice shot." he says, patting her on the back before leaning by the stairs he entered on.
Zelda: I just did what I had to do. I'd rather be safe than him if anyone deceives us.
T'Challa and Ripley head for their stairs, only leaving one column on the "X" vacant.
"Final round is starting shortly, everyone get in their positions…"
—
Final Round: Ripley vs. T'Challa vs. Dante
The astronaut, the Wakandan, and the demon all stand on the stairs, knowing that the most difficult opponent will be one another.
"Immunity on the line! Survivors ready? GO!"
Ripley starts slow, while the two men are in the others sights. They are the first to meet at the middle, and both grab ahold! They both try to lift, with Dante using his strength to lift the king! He throws him off the side, but the cat has a hand on! He quickly gets another up and snatches Dante's foot!
He pulls it forward, sending him on his back hard! He scales the beam as Ripley continues to sneak up, and gets to one knee before Dante kicks the other! He stumbles as Dante gets to his feet, but sees the moment and charges forward, wrapping his arms around a stumbling Dante! He lifts him off the ground and throws him to the side…
…but Dante grabs ahold of his foot! T'Challa starts kicking his hand, and that's when Ripley sees her moment, the wood creaking as she comes over. However, he hears the wood creak and grabs ahold of her. With Dante below, and her in his hands, he looks to kill two birds with one stone.
He sends her down ONTO Dante, and that crash is enough force to make Dante lose his grip and fall on the sand! Ripley ends up hitting it as well, and T'Challa spreads his arms in celebration!
"T'CHALLA WINS IMMUNITY!"
His opponents both get to their feet, and see the winner hop down and headed their way. He speaks to Ripley first. "You almost got me." she nods, but is irritated on the inside. Dante speaks up next. "You, me, rematch." he states, before walking off back to the others.
Dante: I've got three warheads on my back, so this next elimination is going to make me sweat.
The immunity winner also joins those two with everyone else, Jeff addresses them all. "Congratulations T'Challa, cannot be voted out tonight. As for the rest of you, someone will be sent to the jury. Head back to camp, have a good night." he states, and the seven leave him once again. Dante isn't the only one worried though.
Snake: I'm target number one now. Hoping he (T'Challa) can pull it off, but if he can't, I'm gone.
—
Vara: Day 24
The seven Vara return to their camp, with the immunity necklace around T'Challa's neck. Dylan and Peach high five him, while Dante nods in approval.
"Nice moves. Next time teach me how to dash through that."
"Just visit Wakanda."
T'Challa: Peach may not vote out a woman, but she may take out a triple threat like Dante. She may be close to the women, but she's not as close to him.
Dante sits by himself in the shelter, finding himself in danger for the first time.
Dante: T'Challa's coming for me. First time on the block, and I'm excited! Let me go on my reassurance run and I'll be back.
He stands up in the confession and just bolts!
—
Cut to him and Zelda talking one on one on the shore.
"We good to go?" he asks her. "Yes. It's still four to three." Dante sets a finger on his chin. "If that sneaky snake has the idol…Dylan's going to have a rough time."
"We aren't voting for Dylan.."
"..We could."
Dante: I'm just throwing stuff out here to do it.
Cut to Dante speaking with Ripley at the waterwell.
"So are we going for Dylan if Snake has the idol."
"He doesn't have it."
"How do you know?"
"I just spoke to him earlier."
Ripley: We're still keeping him because someone needs to beat T'Challa, but he keeps talking about the plan. We are KEEPING you dude!
Back at the convo, Dante asks one last question. "Four to three?"
"Four to three."
Dante: I've betrayed a lot of people on this island, and it could still happen to me, so I'm making sure all my ducks are in a row.
—
Lastly, Dante and Peach sit together on the sand, the "bounty" hunter getting straight to the point.
"Is Snake still the one?" he asks her, and she politely nods, before sitting up. "You know, the girls have said you've been freaking out." she mentions, and Dante just chuckles. "Well the guys could sweet talk me outta here. Challenge beast, top guy, you know how it is."
"Mhmm. I'm still voting with you. Turning my back on allies isn't my deal."
"Perfect. See you tonight."
He gets to his feet and leaves Peach alone, and we have to sit through another Dante confessional.
Dante: Zelda, check. Ripley, check. Peach, check. Idol? No idea. If all goes well, Snake's getting the boot up his $$.
—
The sun lowers, and little does Peach know, so is her mood. She is laying on the sand, having a relaxing time, when the silhouette of T'Challa shows up. She uncovers her eyes and looks at him.
"We need to talk. Would you mind getting up?"
"I'm really enjoying my time down here."
"It's important, but if you don't want to move, I will sit next to you."
T'Challa pops a squat onto the sand, where he begins speaking. "Shooting straight is the best way to go about this: I have your half." he spills, and Peach snaps her head at him, eyes wide. "You? Wait, wait, why YOU?" she asks, starting to sit up and face him at eye level. T'Challa keeps eye contact. "This is game-only. I respect you as a person but understand this needs to be done."
Peach slowly starts to frown as he goes on. "We are at a disadvantage, and all I need you to do is vote for Dante." She tilts her head after that sentence. "Two days ago you would say no, but there's something for you: I'll give you the idol, and you can say YOU decided he go." he explains, as her eyes narrow. "Zelda and Ripley, will be safe and sound. I want this to work for both of us."
"..What if I don't?"
"Then I will have no choice but to use this idol against you."
Peach starts to raise her voice now. "W—how do you know WE don't have one?" she asks, and the Panther keeps his cool. "Because I've had the other half this whole time. There is only two ways out: You vote with us and succeed, or against us and fail. I'll give you time to think." he says, getting to his feet and on his way out. Peach watches him go, but can't muster any words.
Peach: The audacity of this man! My day was starting to go well, and then he ruined it! UGH!
—
After that reveal to Peach, T'Challa heads to Snake and Dylan at the shelter. Peach is still sitting in the sand, while Zelda and Ripley are elsewhere.
"How did she take it?" asks Dylan. "She didn't shout at me, but she was hurt." reveals the King, who turns to his other ally. "I did what I could to save you. Laid out how this could benefit her. Guaranteed that Dante catches votes. Let's just hope he catches four instead of three."
Snake locks eyes with him. "If I get clipped, good on them for being tight like this." he comments, crossing his fingers.
Snake: T'Challa is making his case day by day. I need to survive not just to help him, but also hurt him later. Out of everyone, he may be my biggest challenge at the end.
—
The sun is real low, as Peach sits alone on T'Challa's man-made bench. Tribal was happening soon, and she didn't have much time left to make a decision.
She let Zelda and Ripley know, but all they said was to trust the process…however it wasn't that easy for the princess, who is at her most stressed on the island.
Peach: I am just in the worst spot. If I don't do what he says, I or my friends will be sent packing, and he just gets to get away with it! This is a hostage situation, and quite frankly I'm sick of being a hostage! Then there is the "upside" he calls it. I can say I decided the vote on Dante, and took a risk when my back was against the wall. That would get the jury's respect, but I could also burn a couple votes just on that. This…is so frustrating.
She sighs in her confession.
Peach: Can this day get any worse?
—
Tribal Council: Night 24
The eight Vara members arrive to the Tribal Council area with their torches. The fire pit is there, and so is Jeff sitting in front of his podium across from the stumps.
"Dip your torches into the fire. Fire represents your life, and when it's gone, so are you."
They dip them in, as Skarlet, Wade, Price, and a new and glaring member in Slade sit across from them on the jury bench.
With that out of the away, Jeff kicks off Tribal. "Last time we were here, the lines were set in stone." He speaks with T'Challa first. "T'Challa, is that still the case?" T'Challa looks straight ahead at the host. "If there is anything I've learned in my time, it's that allegiances can change on a dime, Jeff. As far as I know, the alliances are still together, but all it takes is one vote to switch this up." answers T'Challa. Peach looks down and Dante notices that. He leans to whisper to her. "How are you hanging?"
"Good."
Jeff switches his sights to Dante now, who leans away. "Dante, you have made a name for yourself over the past few votes. Is there another surprise in there?" he asks, gesturing towards his head. "Hoping it's not against me." he jokes, which gets a few smiles. "It's like the guy said, changes can happen anytime."
Peach is sideying T'Challa, who glimpses at her. She's starting to glare, and when T'Challa turns back, he runs into the eyes of Probst. Those eyes move to the side until they land on Peach. "Peach you do NOT look happy. Anything to share?" he asks, and Peach exhales.
The jury discusses amongst themselves. "It's about to go down.." whispers Wade, who taps Price's shoulder. "We're in for a show." comments Price. Slade and Skarlet remain silent.
After a few seconds, she spills what's been going on. "My idol is on the line tonight. Someone told me they had it." Dante's eyes widen, and T'Challa rolls back his shoulder. "Who has it?" asks Dante, and Peach just gives one look to the man himself. Dante's jaw drops "YOU?" he asks the Wakandan, who looks him dead in the eyes. "Yes, I took it."
On the jury, Price kicks back. "The balls on that man." Slade specifically has his eyes on T'Challa's pocket. Zelda goes to say something, but Ripley sets a hand on her shoulder and begins whispering: "Don't say anything, it's her story." She reluctantly keeps her mouth shut, but Dante doesn't. "Oh so we're blackmailing people now, huh?"
"We needed a woman and weren't getting one without this." admits T'Challa. "Well how is threatening her supposed to help you? Sometimes I like a little fun but that's just weird!" responds Dante, who's face changes when T'Challa pulls out BOTH halves of the idol, connected together. "I have her biggest power. If she votes you out, she has bragging rights…" explains T'Challa, which does get a few nods (from Skarlet, Slade, and Price).
Dante doesn't react the same way. "If I leave and you give me crap about "honor" and "integrity", I'm grilling you when we meet again." he admits. "Do what you want, you aren't the vote we need." Wade tilts his head. "Holy $#|t."
T'Challa faces Jeff. "She outed me and I'm just defending myself, it's not personal to anyone." Snake nods in agreement, and Jeff turns his attention to him. "Snake, chaos is all around you. How do you feel about this?" Snake takes a look at Dante, and then at Jeff. "They'll be writing my name down since this guy is safe." he says, gesturing towards the idol thief. "It sucks that they can't take him out, but he's just played them." he states. "I want to win, but if I can't the other side just got me. Can't run from it, just have to wait and see."
Jeff turns back to Peach, who gives massive sideye to T'Challa. "Peach, we need to hear more from you before we vote. Is your mind made up on who you'll be siding with?" he asks, and an exhausted Peach rubs her eye. "It just came out of nowhere. A lot to take in, and I hope I've made the right choice when I vote tonight." she answers. "I have nothing else to say."
Jeff nods at that. Snake rubs his hands together, and Dante gulps. "Alright, it is time to vote. Dante, you're up first."
He gets to his feet and heads for the voting booth.
—
Dante: Can't slither away forever. (Snake)
T'Challa: If this doesn't work, I'll be eating the idol for dinner. (Dante)
The Princess steps up to vote now. Snake and Dante lean over to see which name she writes..
Peach: This is for the good of my game. (?)
She begins writing. After a minute, Dante wipes his hand on his head, while Snake whispers to T'Challa.
—
After all of that voting is done and over with, the tribe members get to their stumps, taking a seat during their wait.
"I'll go tally the votes.." With those words, he leaves his podium and goes straight to the booth. He takes the voting urn, and heads back to his podium. Setting it down, vote reads are about to begin.
"If anyone has a hidden immunity idol, and they would like to play it, now would be the time to do so.." Peach makes eye contact with T'Challa, and he keeps his firm, hoping he didn't get conned by her this time. "Alright, I'll read the votes…"
As he reaches for the parchment, the jury has another small discussion. "Who do we got?" asks Wade.
"Snakes living." (Price)
"She won't fall for it." (Slade)
"I'd rather wait and see. You are getting on my last nerve." (Skarlet)
"…buzzkill."
Jeff pulls out the parchment, and vote reading is about to begin. Dante taps Snake on the back and says "Good luck." Snake gives him a mini-salute as it goes on.
"First vote…"
— Snake.
— Dante.
— Snake.
— Dante.
— Snake.
— Dante. Three votes Snake, three votes Dante, one vote left….
Peach frowns, while Dante and Snake look on, one of their times coming to an end..
"Twelfth person voted out of Survivor: Maldives Madness, and the fifth member of our jury…Dante. Bring me your torch."
Dante grabs his torch and leaves his stump. On his way out, he pats Peach on the back. "You did what you had to do." That's the last comment he makes to her before headed over to Jeff. He sets his torch down, and faces the host.
"It's been fun."
Jeff raises his snuffer.
"Dante, the tribe has spoken."
He snuffs his torch. Dante turns around one last time. "Give me a show on the bench next time." he says, before leaving the Tribal Council area. Once he's out of view, Jeff turns back to the remaining six castaways for a last comment. "He may have said it was fun, but i say these coming days won't be. Head back to camp, have a good night."
The six castaways grab their torches and get to their feet. They leave the Tribal Council area, another one down, and someone set to leave in only a couple days.
—
Dante's Final Words
Dante: They got me. I don't know who flipped on me, but they just sent my train off the rails. I was doing great, but this pizza I'm about to wolf down is going to be greater.
