A Hero's Memorial
This is just a little fanfic I wrote; I don't think there will be a sequel or anything. Please review, but please be gentle, I bruise easy.
Tears welled up in the eyes of Dinah Lance as she looked upon the burying of her mentor and adopted mother Barbara Gordon. "I now like to ask some members of her family to come up and say something about the deceased," the priest announced. Dinah took a deep breath, composed herself and slowly walked towards the coffin. "Barbara Gordon was the most selfless person I know," Dinah, said starting her speech, "she took me in when I had no one and expected nothing in return. She was always giving something to someone, whether it was invaluable guidance to Helena and I, or giving her life to save another. Barbara Gordon was my mentor, my hero and the mother I never had," Dinah said finishing her speech. Helena, who was now openly crying on Reese's shirt somehow managed to give her weak smile, that gave Dinah some comfort knowing that Helena would still take care of her. Alfred was the next to speak about Barbara, followed by Bruce and then the last person to speak was Helena. "Barbara Gordon was a hero, her whole life she was meant for something great, and she was great. Barbara was a wonderful person, a great friend, and a selfless hero who no one will ever forget." After Helena's speech people started to slowly form groups and leave the service, all mourning the loss of a dear friend. Soon it was only Helena and Dinah left sitting by Barbara's grave. "I miss her already," Dinah said quietly. "I miss her too," Helena said putting a comforting arm around the distraught teenager. "It's not fair," Dinah said wiping tears from her cheeks. "I know," Helena said, "I know." Helena and Dinah stayed at Barbara's grave for about six hours before Alfred showed up with a car to take them home. "Come on kid, we have to go," Helena said pulling Dinah to her feet. Dinah sighed sadly and looked at Barbara's grave one last time before following Helena to the car.
