RFK22: Glad you're enjoying the story. Dragonair is an interesting choice. Especially since it gets access to 4 electric moves and a fifth when it evolves.
Ninjafang1331: Interesting selection, since Morpeko is part electric he will automatically join at some point.
Sethelephant: Glad you're enjoying the story so far. Ash will get those electric types at some point maybe not in Kanto but at some point. Interesting choices you made. I'm considering Nosepass and Klink as they along with their evolutions can naturally learn electric moves.
E3roa: Good choices. Some are worth considering.
Neotac: Stunfisk is a useful choice. Nidoran and Abra are good choices.
Guest: Too true.
Reader: Glad you liked the chapter. Maybe not but some non-electric can help.
Guest: Glad you enjoyed the chapter. No doubt that the water type is helpful. I'm aware Chinchou has Illuminate but I replaced it as Illuminate has no effect in battle. Like how I replaced Ball Fetch on Yamper for Strong Jaw. Although now that I think about it, I could have given it an ability.
CrimsonStarBlade: Hitmonchan is a good choice. Possibly, I'll still have him go on. As for him going to Alola after the ship goes down, I'm probably not going to do that, but I can have visit Alola before the League. Still think it's an interesting idea. Also been rethinking about your idea of Pokémon with perhaps behaviors, or temperament and appearances similar to dragons. But out of curiosity
Ddraig Dravidian: Fair Point.
Reader: Good choices for electric and non-electric type. As for the Pokémon Ash, has saved most of them can learn an electric type move so they can easily fit. As for the ones who can't we could give them Hidden Power electric, or tera type electric.
Mewtwoz: Good selection.
Alright, seems most if not all are okay for Ash catching non-electric types. As for the Pokémon like Charizard who Ash saved we can add them like Guest reviewer said, Ash there is no way Ash can turn away from an abandoned Pokémon in need. However, I feel like there needs to be a limit on how many times they can enter a story. Anyway, the limit can be decided later.
A few days have passed since Chinchou joined the team, and now they were heading to Mt. Moon. For there he would make his way to Cerulean City, in order to earn a Cascade Badge. Currently he was resting at the Pokémon Center just outside of Mt. Moon. He let out his team to feed them their breakfast. Once they were done eating, they would head out. As his Pokémon were enjoying their food, Ash took the opportunity to look through the Pokédex to see if there were any Pokémon around here that could learn electric type moves. So far it looked as if his best choice would be Nidoran or if he was lucky a Clefairy. Nidoran had the potential to learn Thunderbolt, Thunder and Shock Wave. And once they fully evolve, they could also learn Thunder Punch. Plus, when they even into Nidoqueen or Nidoking, they gain the ground typing. It would benefit his electric types to train with some ground types.
"Excuse me." A man voice called out.
Turning around Ash noticed a man where some hiking gear looking at him. He was holding himself up with a pair of crutches and had bandages wrapped around one of his feet.
"Hello, is there something I can help you with?" Ash greeted before asking.
"Yes, you see I was hoping to a Geodude before I had to catch my flight to go back home tomorrow. Unfortunately, I sprained my ankle so I'm unable to go out and catch one. Would be willing to catch one for me?" The man explained.
"Sure." Ash replied with a smile.
"Thank you as a reward, I'll be happy to gift you with this." The man responded, before releasing a rock creature with two arms, and two fingers with a thumb. It also looked to have two black eyebrows and pieces of rock on its head that looked like hair.
"Isn't that a Geodude?" Ash asked. It did look like a Geodude, only it was grey instead of brown.
"Yes, but this is an Alolan Geodude. I've heard the Geodude in Kanto looked different and after seeing one I knew I needed to have one. I caught a Geodude to be able to compare the two and see the differences for myself throughout their evolution line. If you help me, I'll give you this one, and simply catch myself another." The man answered.
Looking at the Geodude, Ash was curious to what the differences himself was.
"So, what are the main differences between the two." Ash then asked.
"If I recall correctly, Alola Geodude are rock and electric types, while the Geodude from around here are rock and ground types." The man explained.
Ash's eyes widened when he heard that. Another electric type and since it's also part rock type meant it would have higher defenses. Its major weakness to ground type moves could be a pain their ways to work around it.
"Okay sir you got a deal." Ash answered.
"Great thank you, oh I didn't get your name?" The man asked.
"My names Ash and yours's?" Ash replied.
"Thomas and thank you again for doing me this favor." Thomas answered.
"No problem, I'll be back later." Ash said, before returning his Pokémon, except for Pikachu who hopped on his shoulder.
Ash then ran outside eager to now find a Geodude. Mt. Moon was far from here and that would be his best bet if he wanted to find a Geodude. Finding the entrance to Mt. Moon didn't take too long as he was in front of it in about 15 minutes. Once he entered, he walked around for a bit before noticing something wasn't right. The cave was unusually bright, and there was no sight of any Pokémon. As he turned the corner of the tunnel, he was in he saw the reason, several man-made lights were out.
Ash on alert, knowing he wasn't alone. This all made sense now, most Pokémon that lived in Mt. Moon rarely exited the cave unless it was either night, or a trainer captured them. Ash then quietly continued to make his way deeper into Mt. Moon. As he was about to make another turn, he heard metal clanging against the wall. Ash then he poked his head around the corner. His eyes narrowed as he saw two familiar figures, and a familiar Meowth.
"Keep going James, soon we'll bound to find some fossils." The woman, Jessie if Ash remembered said.
"With all these lights up, we won't have to worry about those pesky Zubat anymore." James then commented.
"Plus, with the Clefairy we found we get a nice big bonus." Meowth added.
It was true, behind them were several pink star shaped Pokémon. Indeed, Clefairy were trapped in a cage, who were quite scared. Ash's hand made a fist in anger, he wasn't going to let them take those Clefairy, or continue to disrupt the Pokémon habitat.
Ash then let of his Elekid, who looked around curiously. Placing his index finger on lips, Ash motion Elekid to keep quiet. Bending down to look Elekid in the eyes, Ash explained the situation to him earning a nod. He told Pikachu and Elekid to begin to power up, as much as they could. Once he felt they were ready, the duo took off with a pair of Quick Attack.
"What is that..." Was all Team Rocket being able to say before being slammed into by the electric duo.
The force sent them crashing into the cave wall, stunning them for a bit.
"Pikachu Iron Tail, break the lock." Ash called out.
Pikachu's tail glowed a metallic color, as he slashed the lock cutting it in half. Ash then ran over opening the lid, allowing the Clefairy to make their escape. By the time the rocket trio recovered the last of the Clefairy jumped out of the cage.
"Ah all of our Clefairy have escaped." James whined.
"They're not yours." Ash said, standing in front of the Clefairy, arms out in order to protect them. "Your, not leaving with a sign one. So, you might as well leave this place."
"Oh yeah, well too bad. Ekans go." Jessie called out her snake.
"Koffing go." James released his partner.
"Pikachu use Electro Ball. Elekid use Swift." Ash called out.
Pikachu fired a yellow ball made of electricity, while Elekid fired a barrage of stars. Ekans burrowed underground with a Dig, avoiding the attacks. Koffing was not so lucky as he took both attacks and grunted out in pain. Ekans resurfaced as he slammed into Pikachu, sending Pikachu. Seeing his teammate in trouble, Elekid directed forward slamming into Ekans with a Quick Attack.
"Elekid use Rock Smash." Ash continued.
Elekid's right hand glowed red, as he brought down his fist, smashing it into Ekans's head. Ekans hissed out in pain, as his head smacked onto the ground. Using the opportunity Pikachu used another Iron Tail, striking Ekans sending flying before it hit the cave wall creating a crack formation in the wall. It then collapsed on the ground out cold. Seeing their Pokémon knocked out, Jessie and James returned them, before deciding to take off with Meowth.
"Oh no you don't Pikachu and Elekid use Thundershock." Ash ordered.
Both Elekid and Pikachu unleashed a blast of electricity then struck Team Rocket, sending them not only flying out of the cave, but into the sky as well. As Ash turned around to check on the Clefairy, he noticed the weary looks they gave him. Knowing they were really shaken up by their encounter with Team Rocket, he knelt down, and spoke to them in a soothing tone.
"Hey, it's okay, I'm not going to hurt you guys, I promise." Ash said, with a reassuring smile.
"Pika Pika." Pikachu encouraged, walking up to the Clefairy.
Eventually, one of the Clefairy gained enough courage to get closer. Then Ash began to rub the tuff on Clefairy's hair, receiving a happy cheer. Clefairy began to bounce up and down in joy, as the others joined her. Ash smiled seeing the cheerful expressions on their faces and let out a little laugh. Suddenly the sound of cracking caught everyone's attention. Worried about a sudden cave in in, Ash looked around to find the source. It was the wall where Ekans smacked into. The crack on the wall got bigger, as more rocks fell revealing something behind it. Once the rocks stopped falling Ash took the opportunity to get a better look.
The rock facing him had a strange impression, it looked a little like a fin. A fossil perhaps? Taking out his Pokédex in order to see, he took a quick scan of the item. After a few moments an image pulled up matching what he found. It was a Sail Fossil, a fossil usually found in the Kalos Region. According to the Pokédex if he took it Cinnabar Island, he could restore it into an Amaura. While not an electric type, that ice typing can really help against ground types. Taking one of the pickaxes, Team Rocket dropped Ash carefully loosed the fossil before prying it, then placing it in his backpack.
Ash couldn't help but smirk, not only did he help the Clefairy, but he also got a fossil. He wasn't looking for a reward, but it looks like he got one. Then looking at the Clefairy, he pulled up an image on his Pokédex. Revealing the image of Geodude, he showed the Clefairy.
"Excuse me, but I'm looking for a Geodude for someone, can you help me find one?" Ash asked.
Looking at the Pokédex, one of the Clefairy nodded, and motioned for Ash to follow. After taking down all the lights Team Rocket put up, and returning Elekid, Ash then followed the Clefairy through several tunnels before exiting the cave. Ash noticed he was on a rocky path, then felt tug on his pants. Looking down, Clefairy was pointing somewhere in the distance. Looking to where she was pointing, he noticed something flying towards him. Instantly, Ash managed to catch what was thrown. It was a light blue creature, with dark blue spots, and a small horn on its forehead. It was a female Nidoran, and thankfully he avoided the spikes on her. Placing her on the ground, he noticed several wounds on her. Grabbing a potion from his bag, he sprayed on her wounds causing her to wince. Once he finished treating her, he decided to see what caused her to be flung. It was then he noticed a rather large Geodude looking at him.
It was a Geodude, and a territorial one from the looks of it. Well, he did promise to catch a Geodude, and this would be his best bet. Releasing Chinchou, as told Pikachu to stay behind and look after Nidoran. Pikachu nodded and hopped down, next Nidoran who had awakened, but was busy regaining her strength. She did observe the trainer before her, who was walking towards the Geodude with the Chinchou.
"Geodude!" Geodude grunted as he smashed his fist together.
Geodude didn't waste any time, as he sped towards Chinchou with a Rollout. Ash calmly told Chinchou to avoid it before striking back with a Water Gun. Chinchou hopped out of the way, as Geodude rolled past her. Geodude made a turn in an attempt to hit Chinchou again, he was suddenly blasted by a Water Gun. Geodude grunted out in pain, as he was blasted by color water.
"Confuse Ray." Ash calmly called out.
Chinchou let out an array of lights that surround Geodude. Geodude seemed to absorb the light, before he appeared to be dazed. He then began ramming his head into the wall. Glad to see Geodude was confused, Ash ordered Chinchou to use her Bubble Beam. Firing several bubbles, Geodude was blasted and slammed into the ground. Taking out a Pokéball, Ash threw it. It bounced off of Geodude before shaking a few times. It then let out a ping, as it confirmed capture. Smiling, he went to grab the Pokéball, before placing it on his belt. He then thanked Chinchou for her help, before returning to her as well. Walking back to the others, he noticed Nidoran was back up.
"I see you're up now, how you are feeling?" He asked.
Nidoran let out a happy squeak before nuzzling against his leg. Smiling Ash knelt, before begin scratching behind Nidoran's ears earning a happy squeak.
"Say Nidoran would you like to join me on my journey, I could use the help of a Pokémon such as yourself?" Ash then asked.
Nidoran looked at Ash with curiosity, before nodding with a cheerful squeak. Ash smiled as he placed the Pokéball on her head. Nidoran was sucked into it, as it pinged immediately. Ash smiled seeing the new friend he made, turning his head, he began rubbing the tuff again. Clefairy squeak happily enjoying the rubbing.
"Thank Clefairy, now can you show me the way to the tunnel where we met?" Ash asked, not wanting to get lost.
"Clefairy." Clefairy said with a nod.
It didn't take long for them to return to where they first encountered each other. When they arrived at the spot, they found a few Clefairy waiting for their friend. Clefairy ran up to her friends and began letting out a series of squeaks. Ash was curious about what they were talking about, but remembered he had to deliver the Geodude. As he began walking past the Clefairy, he then stopped feeling another tug on his pants. Looking down he noticed the Clefairy who had been accompanying him, was looking at him. She then began pointing at the Pokéball on his belt, then to herself.
"You want me to catch you?" Ash asked, wanting to make sure he understood.
Clefairy nodded happily, causing Ash to smile. He agreed to let her join, but when he asked if she wanted to say goodbye to her friends, he noticed they were all gone. Is that what they were talking about? Shaking his head, Ash then informed her that he was already carrying Pokémon, and if he caught her right now, she would be transported to Prof. Oak's lab, and she would have to wait till he transferred her back. Clefairy nodded in understanding, and tapped the Pokéball Ash held out before being sucked in. The Pokéball pinged as it suddenly transported away, Ash smiled having successfully caught another great addition to the team. Ash with Pikachu on his shoulder, walked back to the Pokémon Center. Once there they immediately went to Thomas.
"Hey Thomas, I caught a Geodude like I said." Ash called out.
"Excellent, thank you Ash." Thomas said with a smile.
Ash and Thomas made the trade with the help of Nurse Joy, Ash did make sure to warn Thomas that the Geodude was quite territorial. Thomas thanked Ash for the warning, before wishing him well, and asking him to take good care of his own Geodude. Ash promised to do so. Ash then released his Pokémon in order to let them introduce themselves. Yamper began bouncing around in happiness, as she began running circles around her new friends. Pikachu, Chinchou and Elekid joined in greeting their new teammates as Ash scanned the two new Pokémon.
Geodude, Alolan Form. The Rock Pokémon. A Rock and Electric type. If you step on a sleeping Geodude, you'll hear a snap, and your body will go numb from its electrical discharge. This Geodude is male and possesses the ability Galvanize. Geodude's moves are: Defense Curl, Tackle, Charge, Rock Polish, Rollout, Spark, Rock Throw, and Smackdown.
Good move set no doubt Geodude would be a great help, however he never heard of Galvanize. After looking through the Pokédex, he was shocked to see it would turn normal moves into electric moves and increase its power. Geodude would be a massive help. Then looking at Nidoran he was curious to see what she knew.
Nidoran, the Poison Pin Pokémon, a Poison type. Its poison pin is quite powerful for its size, but its horn is smaller than the male's. This Nidoran is female and possesses the ability Poison Point. Nidoran's moves are: Growl, Poison Sting, Scratch, Tail Whip, and Fury Swipes. Nidoran also possesses the egg move Skull Bash that has not been unlocked yet.
Ash nodded, Nidoran definitely had a lot of potential as well, no doubt she would be a powerhouse as well. Once everyone was acquainted, Ash took the opportunity to call Prof. Oak and explained the situation.
"Well, that's quite the story." Prof. Oak stated.
"Yah, so how is Clefairy doing?" Ash asked.
"She was a bit nervous, but she's slowly warming up to me. Still well done, but try to be more careful, you're lucky you only ran into the grunts of Team Rocket." Prof. Oak replied.
Ash nodded; he asked if he could send over Elekid so he could get Clefairy. He had already asked Elekid if he was fine with this, and he was so Ash could get to know his new Pokémon. Ash also told Elekid to keep up his training at the lab, but to try not to damage anything. Elekid just grinned, after returning him back to his Pokéball, Ash made the transfer and then released Clefairy like he did with Nidoran and Geodude. As Clefairy got to know her new teammates Ash scanned her as well.
Clefairy, the Fairy Pokémon, a Fairy type. Thought to live with others on quiet mountains, it is popular for its adorable nature. This Clefairy is female and possesses the ability Magic Guard. Clefairy's moves are: Charm, Copycat, Defense Curl, Disarming Voice, Encore, Growl, Pound, Sing, Sweet Kiss, Stored Power, Minimize, and Life Dew. Clefairy also possesses the egg move Heal Pulse that has not been unlocked yet.
Ash grinned a good number of moves, still plenty room for improvement. Still, he would like to use either Clefairy or Nidoran at the next gym. Since the sun would be setting soon, he decided it would best to stay another night then take off first thing tomorrow. Once he reached Cerulean City, he would take another few days to prepare for the gym. His adventure was just starting, and no doubt it would be getting more difficult from here on out.
I hope you guys enjoyed this chapter, I'm planning one starting either the fire or dragon type story next. Next chapter we'll be in Cerulean City.
