After dealing with these aliens and still having no idea what is causing the random attacks, the group decides to have a game night, their last one before Lena and Kara get married and go off on whatever extravagant honeymoon Lena has planned.
"Uno!", Alex cheers as she plays her second-to-last card.
"This is why I wanted to play Jenga", Nia grumbles with half the deck in her hand.
"The game of Jenga requires a steady hand", Brainy says.
Nia gasps turning to the Coluan, "Are you saying I don't have steady hands?".
"That is not what I said", Brainy replies, blushing.
Alex saves him by declaring victory as she plays her last card.
"Not fair", Kara grumbles, having gotten down to one card herself, "Let's play something Alex can't win".
"If you can find a game I won't beat you at", Alex replies, coolly.
"How about Monopoly", Lena offers, "We all love that game".
"Oh no, Luthor", Alex says, "You only want to play because you always win cause your girlfriend is wrapped around your finger and will give you whatever you want".
"Your girlfriend is literally a CFO", Lena retorts, "Who's better at managing money".
"Math has nothing to do with luck and Kara slipping you cash under the table", Alex says, finishing off her beer.
"I'm not only good at math", Sam grumbles but is drowned out as Kara and Lena both object.
"I may be a Luthor, but I don't cheat", Lena says.
"Yeah", Kara agrees, "Truth and justice. I don't cheat".
"Then why are you making your guilty face", Alex says, calling out Kara's crinkle and blush.
"I… I'm not… I", Kara stutters but stops at Lena's hand on her arm.
"Contributions to the cause are not cheating", she says, diplomatically.
"Cause? What cause?", Alex asks.
The entire group answers simultaneously with some form of 'beating Alex', 'anything to stop Alex', or 'not letting Alex win'.
"So, you all team up against me", Alex says, turning to Sam, "Is this true?".
"To be fair, babe", Sam says, calmly, "You're what we call a sore winner. I mean just look at the game we just finished".
Before Alex can reply, multiple phones go off with the DEO ringtone.
"Saved by the bell, Arias", Alex says, before kissing her and standing. She kisses a smirking Ruby's forehead on her way over to where Kara is standing now in her suit.
Kara flies off with Alex while Brainy and J'onn head to HQ.
"What have we got", Alex asks as soon as they land, immediately in agent mode.
"It seems to be another Dheronian and he is not happy", Brainy reports over comms.
"Ok well, we've beat one of them before right", Kara says.
"Yeah, and you solarflared", Alex says, "You're staying back here".
Kara pouts but stays back until the alien seems to sense her presence.
"Kara, daughter of Zor-El and Alura In-Ze. You need to come with me", the alien bellows.
"She's not going anywhere with you", Alex shouts, blasting the alien with a high-powered alien weapon until it goes down. Once the scene is cleared, they all head back to the DEO.
"Ok, so they're obviously targeting you", Alex says, once they're gathered in the command center, "What if we say Supergirl went off world and you just laid low for a little while. Let us and Dreamer handle things around here, especially with the wedding and everything coming up".
"That's probably a good idea. I know Lena will be glad", Kara says, "I'll talk to Cat and see if she can issue a statement, make up some story".
"Good", Alex says, "go home and get some rest. We'll see you in Midvale".
"See you in Midvale", Kara says, with a huge smile on her face. She rushes over to give Alex a hug before taking off back home.
"Hey, you still have powers", Lena comments as Kara lets herself in through the balcony.
"Yep", Kara says, greeting her with a kiss, "and the rest of this week plus honeymoon time off".
"Why?", Lena asks, "What's wrong?".
"The alien today knew who my parents were and wanted me for some reason", Kara says, shrugging off her concerns and picking up some of the leftovers from game night.
"What?!", Lena says, "and that doesn't worry you".
"I mean we beat him so", Kara says, throwing away the trash and coming back to Lena, "Look I know you're worried so I'm taking the time off and I'm going to talk to Cat about writing something about how I'm going off world. Hopefully that either gets the aliens to lay low for a while or leave Earth and we…", she steps up to Lena, pulling her in by the waist, "can enjoy our wedding and honeymoon". She ends the speech with a deep kiss that Lena melt into, nearly forgetting what they were talking about.
"Wait", Lena breathes out, pulling back, "You're sure this will give us a break".
"Yeah. Apparently, these aliens are new to Earth. They must not have been here when I revealed myself or they would have attacked when I didn't have my powers", Kara explains.
"Fair point", Lena agrees, "Ok, call Cat and get the story out and then we can just lay low until next weekend".
At the thought of their wedding, both women beam and crash together in a deep kiss.
"I love you", Kara says, "and I can't wait for next weekend".
"Me too", Lena says, reconnecting their lips as she pulls Kara down the hallway.
"So, what does that mean for you", Sam asks Alex that night as they lay in bed.
"I won't have to worry about Kara in the field", Alex answers, turning her head to look at Sam, "Hey, I'll be fine. We have great agents and Dreamer and J'onn are going to step up when we need them. I promise, I'm coming home to you and Ruby, no matter what".
Sam sits up, gently kissing Alex, "I know… I just worry. It hasn't been long, but I really don't know what I'd do without you".
"You did it without me before and you did great, but you don't have to worry about… I'm here and I'm in for the long haul. No alien is going to keep my away from you guys".
Sam gives her a watery smile as she kisses her again and Alex scoots down in the bed, holding Sam in her arms as they fall asleep.
"I'm so boreddd", Kara groans out, as she hangs upside down off the couch.
"I know, darling, give me five minutes to finish this up and then we can do whatever you want", Lena says, practically begging.
A housebound Kara is not a happy Kara. The first day or two was ok, she enjoyed getting to relax and cuddle with Lena but then Lena had to get some work done before the wedding and Kara ran out of activities. She pulled out her paint supplies and did a portrait of Lena's profile as well as what she remembered of the view off her balcony on Krypton juxtaposed with the view off their balcony in National City. She read several books but just couldn't understand why Lena liked old boring books when Harry Potter is so much better.
On day four, Lena went into the office for some meetings and to see if her latest idea for the baby would work and Kara was left home alone, with strict orders not to leave. Having to self-entertain used up the last of her mental capacity and by day five she just wanted to leave the penthouse, she really didn't care where she went, just anywhere but there.
"Ok", Lena breathes out, arching to pop her back while cracking her knuckles, "I'm done".
"Yay", Kara cheers, sitting right side up on the couch and waiting for Lena to walk over.
"Now it's just time for you and me", Lena says, putting a knee on either side of Kara and straddling her.
"Rao", Kara breathes out, her boredom from a few seconds ago completely gone.
"What should we do", Lena asks, mouthing along Kara's jaw.
Kara whimpers until Lena makes her way to her mouth finally connecting their lips. Kara places her hands on Lena's hips and carefully turns them and lays back until Lena is resting comfortably on top of her. She keeps one hand on Lena's hip to steady her while the other slides up the back of her shirt.
Lena's hand is just as mobile, rucking up Kara's shirt so she can scratch at her abs but instead of getting the desired tensing, Kara's stomach speaks up.
"Sorry", Kara says, blushing and breathing hard.
"I suppose we should feed you first", Lena teases.
"And then finish this?", Kara asks, hopefully.
"And then finish this", Lena promises, sealing it with a kiss before sitting back up and reaching for her phone to order some food.
As they eat, the couple talks about the upcoming weekend.
"Can you believe it's only just over 48 hours until we get married", Kara says, looking at Lena wistfully.
Lena grins and leans over, kissing Kara's cheek, "I can't wait".
"What else do we have to do to get ready", Kara asks, leaning into Lena's side.
"Our dresses are there, the plane is taking off with everyone on it Friday night, the food and cake will get there that morning, and we can fly over whenever we're ready", Lena says, wrapping her arm around Kara.
"It's going to be perfect", Kara says, before Lena can get too worried about having every detail planned.
Lena takes a deep breath, "You're right, as long as you, me and J'onn are there it will be perfect".
They meet in the middle in a sweet kiss, and food is quickly forgotten as the kiss deepens.
"Vasquez will handle everything here", J'onn says, "and I can get back in minutes if needed. You calm down and get ready to support your sister".
Alex takes a deep breath and lets her nerves settle, "You're right".
"Now go home and pack and I'll see you in Midvale", J'onn says. "That's an order Danvers", he adds when Alex starts to say something.
"Ok, fine", Alex says and grabs her laptop and heads home to help Sam with the last of the packing.
J'onn turns to Vasquez and Matthews who are still standing around the table, "I trust you two to handle things here for like 36 hours, I trust there won't be any surprises".
"Yes sir", they answer in unison.
"With all due respect, without Supergirl and her alien attackers, there are minimal threats", Vasquez says.
"Yes", J'onn agrees, "and if i can get Agent Danvers to stop worrying we should be in for an ok weekend".
"Hey, you're home early", Sam says as Alex drops onto the bed.
"J'onn ordered me to leave", Alex says, looking at Sam who is folding clothes to pack in the bag.
"Were you freaking out about everyone being gone?", Sam asks, using her mom face.
Alex blushes, trying to deny it, but gives in, "Fine, but rightfully so".
Sam leans over to kiss the pouting special agent, "Everything will be fine. The DEO will survive without you for the weekend, especially since the aliens have taken the bait".
"True", Alex admits, and sits up, swinging her legs over the edge of the bed, "So what can I do to help".
"Carry this bag to the car and then pick up Ruby for me?", Sam asks.
Alex picks up the filled luggage and kisses Sam before heading to pick up the teen.
"Done", Nia announces, slamming her laptop shut.
"Celebratory announcement?", Brainy asks, confused by the tone of Nia's voice.
Nia stands, making her way over to him to kiss his cheek while he works. "Yes", she says, "I've submitted my article and now have the weekend off to enjoy the wedding".
"Yes, it should be a wonderful time", Brainy says, a smile on his face.
"Wonderful?", Nia says, "It's the SuperCorp wedding, Karlena. It's going to be great!".
"And you haven't had any dreams", Brainy asks.
"Nope", Nia says, popping the p in her excitement, "The aliens have seemed to have fallen for the diversion and the only thing I see is a bright sunny day, a beach, and happiness. Are you all packed?".
"Yes, you?", Brainy asks.
"Please, I've been packed for this since they announced the engagement", Nia says, bouncing to the bedroom to pull her luggage out of the closet.
"I am not surprised", Brainy says, a loving smile on his face.
"I'm excited", Nia calls from the bedroom.
By the time 6 comes around, the group is gathered on the Tarmac, their bags already in the cargo space.
Sam talks to the pilot while Alex pulls their carry-ons into the cabin space and sits with Ruby. Brainy quickly finds his seat, while Nia ohs and ahs at everything in the insanely nice private jet. J'onn watches them all fondly and settles into his own seat in the back, letting him watch everything.
Eventually, Sam and the pilot board and everyone settles in for the relatively short flight.
Once the plane lands, Lena has arraigned a car to take them from the landing strip to the hotel where they drop off their stuff before dinner at Eliza's. Another car takes Alex, Sam and Ruby straight to the house.
Kara helps carry in their bags while Eliza greets everyone and offers food.
They're just about to fix plates when Lois knocks at the front door, smoothing her hair down with one hand, the other holding Jonathan.
Kara hugs her and her little cousin while Lois explains Clark is bringing the bag, "I had no idea how much stuff a baby needs", she quips as she hands Jonathan over just as Clark lands with straps over his shoulder and hands full.
As everyone is greeting them, Kara hears something outside and sees the Legion ship. Lena notices the tenseness. "It's not who you think", she says, holding Kara's hand.
The door opens and three people exit. Kara gasps as she realizes who it is, looking back at Lena with wide, tearful eyes. Lena nods and releases her hand, letting Kara run up to Winn and his family, pulling the smaller man into a crushing hug.
"Uh, Kara, still human", Winn grunts, and Kara relaxes her grip.
"Oh sorry", Kara says, "I can't believe you came".
"Of course, I did", Winn says, "It's the wedding of the millennium. Plus, I wanted you to meet Ayla and Mary". He steps back putting an arm around his wife and a hand on his daughter's shoulder.
"Mary, this is Kara", Winn says, encouraging the little girl who gives Kara a shy wave.
Kara squats until she's eye level with the little girl and reaches out her hand, "Hi Mary. It's really nice to meet you. I've heard a lot about you from your dad". The little girl reaches out and shakes Kara's hand. Kara gives her a smile and lets her lead the way inside to the food.
Lena watches them approach from her place against the porch railing, and seeing the soft smile on her face, Kara stops beside her.
"How'd you invite them?", she asks the brunette.
"Brainy helped but Winn already knew because we apparently make the history books", Lena smirks, wrapping an arm around Kara.
"A Luthor and a Super", Kara says, "Of course we make the history books".
Lena leans in to kiss Kara's cheek as she turns to the yard again, just in time to see another ship decloak.
"Is that…", Kara starts.
"Go", Lena says, kissing her cheek again and giving her a little push.
"You're just full of surprises", Kara quips before speeding over and wrapping her parents in a full-strength hug.
Eventually, everyone gets food, the arrivals holding Kara off long enough to let everyone else eat first. They all say their goodbye's heading back to the hotel, or ships, leaving just the brides and the maids of honor, plus Ruby and Eliza.
"Alright", Eliza says, clapping her hands together, "Big day tomorrow. Everyone will be here by ten to help finish setting up so I'm heading to bed". She makes her rounds, giving everyone a kiss on the head before heading up the stairs.
"I'm gonna head up too", Lena says, giving Kara a kiss.
"I'll be up in a moment", Kara says, giving her a much longer kiss.
"Ok you too", Alex cuts in, "There will be enough of that tomorrow".
Both women laugh, kissing again in spite before Lena heads up.
She finds her bag on Kara's old bed and is just pulling out her bathroom stuff and pjs when she hears the door creak.
"Hey, darling, that was quick", she says, turning around with a sexy smirk on her face, holding up the satin slip she'd packed. "You're not Kara", she says, quickly, throwing the slip over her shoulder behind.
"No I'm not", Sam replies, barely able to contain her laughter, "and seriously, babe, that's your best pickup line".
Lena goes red, "Its not… be glad I didn't say what I was really thinking".
"Sure", Sam says, still laughing.
"Why are you in here anyways?", Lena asks.
"You guys can't see each other before the wedding, duh", Sam says, dropping onto Alex's old bed, "you seriously didn't notice that mine and Ruby's bags were in here".
"Not really", Lena admits.
"Too busy thinking about your sexy surprise", Sam teases. "You were really going to do that in Eliza's house", she tsks.
"Unlike some people, I can be quiet", Lena teases back.
Sam full on laughs at this, "That's the biggest load of bull I've ever heard".
Lena blushes and pulls a tshirt and shorts out of the bag, "Whatever I'm using the bathroom first".
"But Alex", Kara whines, "Why not?".
"Cause it's bad luck", Alex says.
"What if I have a nightmare?", Kara pouts trying to worm her way into bed with Lena.
"You'll be fine, Kara", Alex says, dragging her to the guestroom.
The sister continue to fight, but Kara gives in quickly when she hears Lena go into the bathroom. "Fine", she relents, "but I get the bathroom first".
"What are you? 14?", Alex teases, "fine, no problem. You know I'm giving up sleeping with my girlfriend too".
"But she's not your fiancee and defender against nightmares is she", Kara shouts back before knocking on the bathroom door. "Lena it's me", she whispers and is quickly pulled in by the collar of her shirt and pushed against the again closed door, any sound of shock swallowed by Lena.
Kara relaxes immediately into the feel of her almost wife just as Lena pulls away panting. "This isn't fair", the brunette whines, "I had plans for tonight".
"It's probably for the best then because you cannot be quiet and I don't want Eliza to hear us", Kara says. Lena gives her a glare and Kara quickly backtracks, "I mean it's tradition right, don't want to start off cursed".
"Please we're a Luthor and a Super, we're already cursed", Lena says.
Kara leans down for another kiss but gets Lena's cheek, "Come on baby it's one night and then we have three weeks of alone time, travelling to all the places you won't tell me, and then the rest of our lives".
Lena melts into Kara's embrace, relenting, "Yeah, you're right, just one night. We can do one night".
"I love you", Kara says, "Just 14 hours until we're married".
"14 hours", Lena says, "I love you".
The lean in for a kiss but are interrupted by someone pouding on the door, "I swear if you two are getting nasty in there, we're pulling a red sun lamp so I can beat your ass".
"You don't think that's a little extra babe", they hear Sam add.
"Go away, Alex", Kara yells back. "I suppose we should actually do our routines", she says, turning back to Lena.
"Guess so", she says, kissing Kara again.
They make quick work, trading kisses throughout and come out of the bathroom together to a redfaced Alex and smirking Sam. They stride past the couple smirks on both their faces, chins high. "Get your head out of the gutter Danvers", Lena throw over her shoulder.
Alex stutters in embarrassment as Sam claims the bathroom for herself with a "I'll go first while you clean your thoughts".
"Bleach my brain is more like it", Alex mutters.
Kara let's Lena get settled in her old twin bed and kisses her once more. "Sleep tight", she says, "I'll see you tomorrow. Love you".
Lena echoes the sentiments and Kara heads back to the guest room she's sharing with Alex. Lena falls asleep surrounded by Kara's scent and Kara drifts off listening to her heartbeat.
AN: I am so sorry to leave you guys hanging here but with my class schedule and my strong need to make this next chapter perfect, Chapter 22 won't be posted until next Monday. I know, I'm sorry but its SuperCorp's wedding and they deserve for it to be perfect.
