Chapter 9: PvP

"All right, now it's time to begin the randomization process for the next fight," Oobleck announced. "It looks like our first contender is... Penny Polendina from Atlas! And her opponent will be... Lana Rose and Pyrrha Niko's from Beacon!" Professor Port shouted. Pyrrha and I stood in front of Penny. I was nervous. I could tell she was nervous too.

"Sal-U-tations Pyrrha Nikos and Lana Rose! It's an honor to finally meet you!" Penny said with excitement. Pyrrha looks at her hands nervously, scared to use her semblance because of what she did to Jaune.

"We'll be okay Mom," I said, trying to assure her. "This is going to be so much fun!" Penny said. Meanwhile, Sonic and Ruby stood face to face with Mercury.

"Mercury... What are you doing? You were hurt! Why?! What's going on...?" Ruby questioned. "Ruby, he wasn't injured, he had metallic legs," Sonic said. "What!?" Ruby cried. "Hmm, nice discovery, but I think your road ends here," Mercury said. "Like we'll let you get away with this!" Sonic yelled.

Pyrrha and I got into our battle stances. "Fighters, are you ready? Three, two one, begin!" Oobleck shouted. The battle starts as Penny takes out her swords and goes to attack Pyrrha and I. Pyrrha and I run toward the knives and block them with our shields.

*With Sonic and Ruby, Sonic's POV*

I glared at Mercury as he smirked at us. "Show time," Mercury said. Ruby speeds to Mercury, but Mercury kicks Ruby as she was knocked back. Mercury walks towards her.

"Ruby!" I cried. "You..." I said angrily and glared at Mercury. I run toward Mercury and go for punches, but Mercury dodges them. Mercury kicks at me, but I grabbed his leg and spun him into a wall, but he recovers.

"Ruby! Call your friends! I'm gonna call Shadow!" I said. "Right!" Ruby said. As Ruby was about to call her friends and I was about to call Shadow to tell him our daughter is in danger, Mercury breaks our phones with air bullets. "Shit." I cursed. "Let's just keep this between us friends," Mercury said. "We're not your friends!" I yelled.

*With Pyrrha, Lana, and Penny, Lana's POV*

Pyrrha, Penny, and I were fighting as our swords clashed with each other. "My word! What a play by Miss. Poledina!" Professor Port said. Penny uses her swords to attack us, but Pyrrha and I jumped on Penny's swords and jumps up to hit Penny from above, but Penny blocks our moves. We jumped in the air and landed on the ground. We keep clashing with our weapons as Penny was getting an upper hand and pushes Pyrrha and I back.

I gave a battle cry and went to attack Penny again but Penny pushes me back. In the stands, Nora was cheering us on. "Wooooh! Yeah! Goooooo Pyrrha and Lana!"

"Pyrrha..." Jaune said with worry. Hm, I wonder where Sonic went Scourge thought. Well, that doesn't matter now, I need to make sure Lana wins this fight and doesn't make a fool of me again.

Pyrrha's weapons began to creak. I summoned a rain cloud and pushed Penny back with heavy rain. Thunder boomed in the sky as lightning began to crack.

*With Sonic and Ruby, Sonic's POV*

Ruby and I were both fighting Mercury, as Ruby was using her fists to fight. Mercury uses his legs to attack them but they dodged it. Ruby spins me with a big swing and I hit Mercury.

"Ruby, let's go!" I cried. "You go! I'll handle this! You save our daughter!" Ruby shouted. "What?! Are you crazy?! I can't leave you here!" I shouted. "Please go! I can do this! Trust me!" Ruby shouted. I sighed. "A-Alright. Please, be careful." I said. "I will," Ruby said. I gave Ruby a quick kiss, then I zoomed up ahead to stop the match.

"I gotta hurry up and stop this match, now!" I said to myself.

*With Penny, Lana, and Pyrrha, Lana's POV*

Our swords still clash with our weapons as Pyrrha and I push her back. Penny's sword shoots lasers and Pyrrha's and I dodge them all and get the opportunity to strike her. Penny comes back and kicks Pyrrha as Pyrrha lost her weapon and regains her balance. Penny shoots lasers at me again and I jump up and dodge the lasers. I flew up in the sky and block the lasers with my gauntlets, then I freeze her lasers with my hands.

As Pyrrha tries to get her sword and shield, Penny hits them with her swords as Pyrrha was unharmed. I grabbed my lasso and tried to wrap it around Penny, but Penny grabs my lasso and throws me back. I regained my balance as I flew in the air, unharmed as well. Our weapons were taken away from us again. We retrieve our weapons again, but I gasped when Penny got out her swords again.

Emerald's semblance made it look like there were millions of knives coming toward us. Pyrrha and I gasped with fear as we were seeing it for ourselves. I summoned my storm clouds and Pyrrha stretched out her arms. I thought I saw Sonic running towards the stage.

"Pyrrha, Lana, don't!" Sonic yelled. But it was too late. Pyrrha used her Polarity to push back the swords and I used my lightning and shot my lightning at the swords. Pyrrha and I gasped as the knives went back to normal. Sonic grabs me and Pyrrha and pushed us out of the way. I watched with horror as the swords wrap around Penny. Penny was ripped in half by the swords. Her swords fell on the ground. Mine and Pyrrha's eyes widened in horror. The audience gasped with shock.

"What...?" Scourge said with shock. "No!" Professor Port cried. "Mom? What's going on?" I asked. Sonic sets me down. "Lana, you're in danger. That's why I came here." Sonic explained. "What?" I said, confused. Ruby runs out of the room and looks at Penny's body.

"Penny..." Ruby said. Ruby began to sob. Mercury looks at Ruby and smirks, then he left the room.

"Broadcast, what are you doing? Kill the feed!" Oobleck said. "We don't have control over the cameras! We can't even stop the broadcasts?" The broadcast person said. "What? How is that possible?" Oobleck said. Then, a red screen appeared with a black chess piece. A voice started speaking.

"This is not a tragedy. This was not an accident. This is what happens when you hand over your trust. Your safety. Your children. To men who claim to be our guardians. But are, in reality... nothing more than men. Our academe's headmasters wield more power than most armies. And one audacious enough to control both. They cling to this power in the name of peace, and yet what do we have here? One nation's attempt at a synthetic army, mercilessly torn apart by another star's pupil. What need would Atlas have for a soldier disguised as an innocent little girl? I don't think the Grimm can tell the difference. And what, I ask you, is Ozpin teaching his students? First a dismemberment, now this? Huntsmen and Huntresses should carry themselves with honor and mercy.

Yet I have witnessed neither. Perhaps Ozpin has thought defeating Atlas in the tournament would help people forget his colossal failure to protect Vale when the Grimm invaded its streets. Or perhaps, this was his message to the tyrannical dictator that has occupied an unsuspecting kingdom with armed forces. Honestly? I haven't the slightest clue as to who was right and who was wrong.

But I know that the existence of peace is fragile. And the leaders of our kingdoms conduct their businesses with iron gloves. As someone who hails from Mistral, I can assure you; the situation there is... equally undesirable. Our kingdoms are at the brink of war. Yet we, the citizens are left in the dark. So I ask you... when the first shots are fired... who do you think you can trust?"

When the speech was finished, the screens turned back to normal. I started to grow worried. "The feeds are all jammed! We can't get a message out!" Oobleck cried. "Will somebody please, tell me what in the world is happening?!" Professor Port shouted. Suddenly, warning sirens went off.

"What's going on?!" Sonic said worriedly. "Alert. Incoming Grimm attack. Threat level 9. Please seek shelter in a calm and orderly manner." The announcer said. Everyone began to scream and ran away.

"Oh no!" I cried. "Come on, Lana! We need to get you out of here, fast!" Sonic shouted. "Ladies and Gentlemen! Please! There is no need to panic!" Ironwood said. Suddenly, a giant Nevermore Grimm landed on the roof and gave out a loud screech. The Nevermore kept slamming his beak on the roof. "A Nevermore?!" Uncle Sun cried. "What?" Amy said. "How did it get past the kingdom's defenses?" Aunt Coco asked. "It wasn't alone," Ren said.

The Nevermore continued to try and break the roof. "Ozpin, the girl! I can explain!" Ironwood said. "You brought your army to my kingdom, James. Use it." Ozpin said.

*With Tails, Weiss, Blake, and Shadow, Shadow's POV*

I was in the fairgrounds with Tails, Weiss, and Blake as the Grimm began attacking the fairgrounds. I was angry about what happened to Lana and Pyrrha at the festival.

"What's going on?!" Tails cried. "It's the Grimm," Blake explained. "And there coming here!" Weiss said.

"We need to move, now," I said.

*With Yang, Yang's POV*

"Oh no, the Grimm!" I cried. I knew what I had to do. Just then, Knuckles came into my dorm. "Yang, are you okay?" Knuckles asked me. "I will be. Once I find my daughter and the rest of the team." I said. "Come on then." Knuckles said. Knuckles and I ran out of the dorm and went to fight the Grimm.

*In Ozpin's office, no POV*

Glynda and Qrow ran up to Professor Ozpin. "Oz!" Qrow shouted. "Get to the city!" Professor Ozpin shouted. "But-" Qrow began. "Now!" Professor Ozpin shouted. Glynda and Qrow looked at each other, then they ran out of the office.

*In an airship, no POV*

"Damn it!" The Atlas ship captain cursed. "This is blue four. Blue's Two and Three, fall into defensive position!" The Atlas ship captain said. "Rodger! Blue three in position!" Blue three said. "Blue two, what's your status? Blue two come in! Someone answer me, damn it!" The Atlas ship captain shouted.

Meanwhile, Neo was in the other ship to free Torchwick. "Well... it's about time." Roman said. The ship turns around and shoots the other ships. "Woooohooo ahaha! Oh, it is good to be back!" Roman shouted. The three ships landed in the center and Adam and the White Fang has arrived.

"Bring them to their knees!" Adam ordered.
