I don't own Naruto, there that's my disclaimer.

"What else is there to discuss?"

Turning away from Neji, giving Itachi a dirty look. "To start, how are we to contact you?"

"You have contact with your Hokage?"

Offering him a confused look, "Yeah, so what?"

"Then I will know."

Confused still, "Wait, what do you mean you'll know?"

"How do you think I got the help for this?"

Neji smirked, "You've been in contact with the Hokage."

"Not just her, Kakashi, Jiraiya, and others." Itachi answered, "Here are these, these are hidden huts with amenities that you can stay at if you need too. There are a couple in each country."

"Thank you," Sakura answered, taking the offered scrolls. Neji looked on, and as if reading his mind Sakura handed them over for him to see.

"How long have you been training together?" Itachi asked out of the blue

Looking up shocked, not hearing that question before. "How long has it been?" Sakura turned to Neji

"You've been my medic for a few years now."

"Maybe a year or so?" Sakura spoke, not taking in the time they'd spent together. "Why?"

"No reason," Itachi spoke, ending that topic

"What are these other scrolls you gave us?" Sakura asked

"They are some scrolls I've gotten from the village. They are loopholes and grey areas for the clans. They aren't anything important, but they are something that can give an insight if you get stuck."

Sakura nodded, thinking of anything else. "Where would you recommend we start? Or what should we start with?"

"I wished to meet you here, as there may be more information in the capital library. I would start there, then take whatever path you find necessary. Now that we have met and discussed what you should do, I must take my leave. The next time we meet if I am alone, great me with: The music is upbeat lately. I will reply with That is hard to believe with all the chaos."

"Okay." Sakura nodded, watching Itachi stand once more.

"You may stay here the night; the capital is due west from this position."

Nodding, "Okay, we will get right to it." Sakura stood with Neji

"Hn." Itachi began the hand motions before releasing the seal he cocked his head back to them.

"Do not trust anyone. Anyone could be working for Danzō or Madara. Those that seem like friends could just be using you."

"You say that as if you've experienced it."

"One could say that Madara and I used to be friends and he used me to destroy the clan to obtain a higher powered sharingan. After that there are few that I could entrust this mission with."

"So, why us?"

Seeing a sad small smile form, "My brother seems to trust you with his life. He may not make the best decisions, but he does have impeccable taste in who he can place his trust within. I will be seeing you." Removing the seal, he stepped out shutting the door silently.

Settling back down, they made themselves a little comfier. Not having anywhere to set up a fire, they settled on the ration packs. By the time night fell, they'd secured the door again. Without the light of the sun, there wasn't much else to do except to lay down. They'd gotten a lot of information about their mission, yet both felt that there was so much that they didn't know. Walking into this mission, they wondered if the missing information would create an even bigger question or be something they wished they didn't know. Would this bring out information about their village that they didn't want to know? It would be something that they'd find out. Without giving them the option.

Breaking the silence, "What do you think about all this?" Sakura asked quietly

"It's a lot. Hiashi has never spoken well of Danzō, it was my assumption he was just an annoyance at the clan meetings. Hiashi has had a few of the other, higher-ranking officials to the house before. I don't ever recall him being there, granted with missions he may have come then."

Even though he couldn't see, Sakura nodded. "Do you think that we can trust him?"

"What choice do we have? As everyone has said, don't trust anyone except each other. After tonight, we need to watch our backs, cover our tracks the best we can."

"I have a horrible idea," Sakura spoke, hearing Neji chuckle.

"What is it? It can't be that bad."

"Well, just hear me out. Being as we should maintain a low profile; this could allow us to blend in better."

Rolling his eyes, even though she couldn't see it. "Get to the point Sakura."

"It'll take some out of the budget, but we stash our ninja gear and get some civilian clothes. Keep our essentials, and travel as if were civilians. When asked what we're doing, we can say that we got the chance to travel from a great-uncle that thought it would invoke some spiritual guidance or something. So we're taking the time to learn the history of the lands." Sakura spoke

Waiting in silence there was nothing from Neji yet. Was her plan that spontaneous? In a way it did sound crazy.

"It's a good idea. There are a few exceptions I can think of is your name it is known far and wide. Plus, if we're being hunted, were not yet but it's possible with this task. I don't think it's good to be without our gear. What we could do is get some changes of clothes and change before entering a town or city. Stash our gear in one of the safe houses Itachi gave us."

"It'll need a little more preparing before we go anywhere, but I think it'll be beneficial to us. We can use aliases, while in the towns. We'll have to figure that out during our travels. Along with the fact of how often to change our aliases."

"It may be wise to change them from time to time, depending on our location. We should set boundaries to where we use them. What are you going to tell Kakashi?"

"That we met with the informant and have initiated the mission. That when we can, we will provide new information, but we can't right now due to so many loose ends. It would not be wise to assume or make any assumptions at this time. I want to trust Kaka, but you never know what ears are listening apparently."

"Okay."

Hearing the tone, he reached out to her. Feeling her hand in his, giving it a squeeze. "This is the part of being a high-ranking ninja that has its fault. The circle in which you hold close, closes around you. Leaving you those, you think you can trust."

"How have you been able to do this? Understand who had your back and then those who may betray you?"

Scooting closer to get a better grip, "You know them by the fact they will always put their life on the line for you. Stand by you even when you push them away. For me, it was far from simple. I never had anyone to trust until team Guy was created. Even then, it took the first couple of years for trust to build." Feeling her curl into him, he did not push her away allowing her to move at the pace she needed

"Life inside the hospital wasn't all bad." Sakura chuckled "At the same time, it sheltered me. From the real world, giving me the isolation that I thought was necessary. The only ones that ever stood by me through that were Kaka, Naruto, Hinata, and strange enough-you."

"What would I do without my medic?" Neji chuckled

Feeling her chuckle, "You surely would have died by now."

"It'll be okay, we will get this taken care off. That way you never have to look over your shoulder, because you got me to look after it."

"Thank you. I've got your back too."

"I know. Get some rest, goodnight."

"Night, Neji."

Staying curled to him, sleep wasn't far away. Letting her drift in and out before sleep took over with Neji following. That is as soon as he was assured that Sakura was resting. It was an early morning, both up as soon as the light started beaming through the ceiling. Not wasting anytime, they sat down eating breakfast and deciding on their next moves. After that was determined, they packed up leaving the hut as if no one had been there. Sakura felt more confident in her abilities, granted it didn't take much. She'd never led this style mission, plus her partner gave her what knowledge he had for this to be successful.

It didn't take long before they reached the next hut, de-robing from their ninja garments. Dressed in their civilian clothes; it was time to put on a good show. The capital was bigger than expected for a smaller country. No one took notice of them, shinobi and civilian alike. Making their way to the library, was simple enough. Along with browsing the library, they found what they needed and found a secluded area to begin their work. Taking the time to detail their notes, reflect, and share their knowledge. Not stopping for a lunch, they pressed through. Finding only a couple of valuable items, leading them to their next stop. It was time to head to moon.

Gathering their things, they made a quick dinner that night. Going back and forth upon what they might find in moon. "So, the kunai made it here for a short period of time. Placed on display as a means of a treaty between our nations. Yet, the only thing we find is the length of stay, money going missing, and an inclination from some scribe that it's in moon." Sakura sighed taking a seat a crossed the fire from Neji

Sipping on some tea, the frustration was mutual. "It appears that we will be on a wild goose chase. The day the kunai left here, Danzō made an appearance here."

"Which places that man in the middle. Along with Madara, who was also spotted in a village nearby."

Nodding to the unspoken conclusion, "It appears that there is a deeper plot than we knew what we were getting into. I'm not sure S-class mission covers what we're doing."

"I wonder if baa-chan understood just what was expected from us. This could be cause for treason if Danzō fights against us, just from today he could make our deaths look like an ambush."

"We won't allow that to happen then."

"Why would he want to hurt the village he has called home? He has the power of the Root operations, which makes me wonder what he has been using them to complete."

"We can't worry about that right now, we have too much to worry about out here. All the pegs will line up when the time is right. Right now, we need to get to moon. By doing this mission successfully, everything will fall into place."

Nodding, Sakura pulled out the maps moving to sit beside Neji. Both glancing at where the best places were to stay the night and to get to the port city. "So, I know that we were given these safe houses, we've clearly used them. Personally, I think it would be best to find our own places. There is just a feeling about the next one here, that I don't like. I know ninjas should never trust their gut, but mine has never been wrong. I think his list has been compromised, we can travel at a distance from it, and you can check it out."

Nodding he could do that, to see if they were in the safe. "We should avoid the rest of the Akatsuki if possible. We will check it out before heading in, if it's clear we should stay there."

"Okay, that sounds fair."

Rolling the maps back up, placing them back into the small back backpack. Sakura was tired, and her mind was finally slowing down. Taking advantage of it, she moved back to her sleeping bag falling asleep. Waking up for her shift, Neji ready to sleep some. Sakura sat close to the dying fire. It was just enough to keep the chill at bay and to illuminate their base. Sakura pulled the scroll bag to her, wanting to see what else Itachi had given them. Carefully unrolling them, it was clear they had not been touched for years if not decades.

The first couple of scrolls were interesting, but nothing pertaining to the situation that was at hand. It could become useful when it was time to finally take down Danzō. It would be hard to take him down if it came to that, the amount of power he'd consumed through the village. Slowing consuming the small clans, whether it be due to lack of ability to pay taxes or the last of the family line passed away, just as it would have if she'd died. At least now Neji had signed on to help her with clan matters. Dawning on her that one of scrolls that had been given to them had something about that. It was one of the oldest ones Itachi had given to them, Sakura wondered what else Neji could do now. Hiashi hadn't been elaborate on what that meant for the newly acquired member. Bringing out the scroll that Hiashi had also given her, she had wanted to look further at it but never had the time. Reading through the scroll, she found more written than what was initially shown to the duo. Reading what the clauses of the agreement were, what Neji's place was now in her clan. Having a note fall out surprised her, it was on the elegant paper Hiashi used to send her messages. Laying the scroll in her lap carefully, she carefully unfolded it.

Ms. Haruno,
Before reading further, be sure you are seated. I'd rather you read this than my nephew, you have a way of getting through to him. I will not assume how what you read will be taken, or how he will take it. After you have read this, if there are still questions, please do not hesitate.
-H

Leaving it so open-ended, Sakura wasn't sure what this meant. Folding the paper back up, it was time to proceed with the scroll. Beginning with the topics that were clauses for if something happened between the two. Proceeding into what it meant for Neji. The first one had her eyes hooked to it. How- when- were just a couple of the fragmented thoughts. The ability to form a logical thought, staring at the lines was her only ability. Taking a deep breath in, controlling the emotions she was feeling. Reading on, explaining what this meant for Neji. Yes, it was beneficial to her. For Neji, could it really have been for his benefit or caused him hurt? Unraveling the scroll further, yet another paper fell out.

Ms. Haruno,
I will assume that you have completed the scroll. Assuming what you are thinking that this is to hurt my nephew. It is not. It is anything but that. With time, it is clear that his desire is to serve the head family. Due to historic rules, his father was due to protect me. It is the least I could do in return for my nephew. Do not feel as if I used you to have this happen. One would have never thought of it, however the two of you have a connection that will be interesting to see grow with time.
-H

Growling as quietly as possible. This is why she shouldn't have procrastinated in reading the damn scroll! There were so many questions that she wanted answers to, yet here she was in the middle of a camp on a death mission. No one there to answer the multiplying questions. Hell, now thinking about it she was to be the one to tell Neji. Who the hell knew how that was going to go? Was this something that she should keep in for the time in? Would it be better to tell him? Could it impact the mission success? The questions kept spinning through her head until the sun started to peak through the trees.

Watching Neji wake up, Sakura made the decision that this information would be held until a later point. The feeling in her gut was no better, they both needed to be at the top of their game. Doing what they needed to, they started on their way. Keeping a distance away from the safe hut, they wanted to be prepared for anyone that would come. With it within eyesight, well byakugan, the duo slowed staying out of eyesight.

"There is no one there, we should go get settled for the night if we're staying there." Irritated at his partner

"Not yet. Once the sun sets fully, then we'll go. Until then we sit here and wait."

Annoyed, Neji took the order from the captain to sit and wait. Turning his byakugan on and off periodically, checking and relaying the information to Sakura.

"It's almost dark, we need to move."

Sighing, maybe she was wrong. "Check one last time, then we'll move if it's clear."

"Fine." Hearing the tone, he was clearly still annoyed with her. "It's clear-."

"Very well, you were right." Sakura went to stand, however, there was resistance with Neji's hand holding her down. "What are you doing?"

"There is a faint sign of life coming in quickly from the opposite way, right to the hut."

Holding her breath and settling in to wait. Hating not being able to see what was happening, she just had to wait for Neji to relay the information.

Neji looked at her, "We need to move." Not answering him, they started to move quietly from their location.

Once in the clear, hightailing it continuing to the backup location. It wasn't close, it was closer to the port town in Hills. They would be going for most of the night, on high alert. Hearing in the distance a large explosion, made them move quicker. Almost knowing who it was, gave them that much more of an incentive to get the hell out of there. Keeping a look out over their shoulder every step of the way. Managing to make it to their next shelter in the dead of night, neither slept well that night.

Eating protein bars for their quick breakfast, they got going. Not wanting to dawdle, they hit the road. Entering the port city in Hills late in the afternoon, they managed to get signed up for the next trip to moon. Not happy that it would be in a week's time, but the weather south of them was unpassable. Finding a cheap hotel, they did what they needed to ensure that it wasn't bugged and set up traps. Riffling through their notes and then bouncing ideas off from one another, not wanting to put any hard evidence on paper at this time that could implicate them. This way, it was noted that they had obtained. Nothing that showed they were holding a high-ranking official for treason. In turn, holding them for possible treason if Danzō got a hold of them, at least that is what they were trying to avoid.

Once the weather cleared, they were able to board the ship waiting for departure. Keeping to themselves was easy as most of those that boarded were fishermen and locals in Moon. Talking only to the captain of the boat there would be only two stops. One in Coral Islands, clearly for the fisherman and then their stop.

The trip would take at minimum a week's time, there was a two-day layover for gas and other passengers to board. Taking this time to rest, yet the guard would stay up. Never knowing if there would be trouble. Making it to moon, with the last safe house incident they avoided it. Laying low.

Once to moon, they made sure of when the ferry would be back. Giving themselves a timeline of when they had to be done.

Checking into a small motel, thankfully those that checked them in didn't seem to fuss over them. Giving them their room, checking over it, and setting their traps for the night. Settling on the small food hut just down the street. Going through the plan once more, on where they would start. Eating up quickly, heading back to get an early start on the day.

Dressed in their civilian clothes, playing the curious couple. Getting access to the library, and asking questions about the land and history. Whilst doing this gained the trust of their guide. Choosing their questions carefully, including the wording. When their guide finally left them, they dug in where they would find the most information. Sakura wasn't liking what she was finding. Seeing common names, names she didn't think that she'd see. Not pointing it out, getting the information before calling it a day. Not causing suspicion, the guide came to check on them frequently. Sakura played up the questions, giving Neji the opportunity to search around. Asking if they could come back tomorrow, wanting to learn more about the history. Eagerly nodding, saying he could set up a bunch of stuff for her. Asking about anything about their medical background because her grandmother would be so proud of her. Happy to do so, they picked up their mess and headed to dinner. Taking it to their room that night, Sakura had a lot to go over in her mind. Not showing this to Neji, just building on the case. Leaving out speculations.

The next day was just as eventful, gaining little knowledge. It gave Neji the opportunity to explore and learn. When he found what he needed, they hung around before finally saying they had made an appointment to visit someone else. Thanking them, leaving quickly. Staying out and about for the day. Deciding on the next day to move on. Heading to another village finding some other details moving to where the clues were leading them through moon. Finding a set of names that were standing out with all the clues we were finding. Heading back to the port city, staying the night on the outskirts. Sakura finally sat down with a scroll just jotting down some of the things they had found. Nothing that implicated Danzō, just names and locations to keep track of. It would be easy enough to get rid of if the time presented itself. Circling the names that kept coming up.

"What are those names? Why are they standing out?"

"Those names? They are the names my parents used when undercover. Even though they never moved high in the ranks, they told me as a kid that it was good to have backup names. These were theirs. Long before I was a ninja, they told me that if people ever came to the house asking for people by that name say it was the wrong house. At the time I didn't think of it. As time continued our relationship deteriorated, trusting me less and less. Maybe there was a reason. I hate to say it if they were root agents, there could be a reason why they disassociated themselves from me. I don't know. It's something that we're going to have to watch and learn more about. Clearly, they are attached to this. Wait. When did the knife leave here again?"

Neji looked over his notes, "About 3 years ago."

"We need to talk to Kakashi. This isn't something I can mention, but it is something he can look up without someone being too suspicious of it. Because he went on a short mission around the same time. That was supposed to be a short mission but ended up taking longer. I never found out why it did. I don't even know why I remember that particular mission of theirs. This leads me to another question. Where should we head now?"

"We have two options; we go back to coral Island and go toward Night. The other option is to head to Flower Island. Listening to the news lately and from past events, it has been quiet. But listening to gossip there has been more congregations of ninjas. At that point, we'd have to change our identities and go fully undercover."

Sitting pondering the next move, whether to backtrack and retrace steps or go with a hunch. Knowing that they were ninjas they shouldn't follow hunches. It was good to know we were on the same page, and coming to the same conclusions.

"You're not going to like my opinion. I think we should head to Flower Island. They've kept out of the great nations, there was a reason for it. If we backtrack and head through everything again it will be a waste."

Watching his face, Sakura was curious to know if he would agree. Knowing him, it was likely that he would disagree. He wasn't known to trust guts; it was facts or nothing.

"I agree. They knew if they stayed in there, it would draw attention. Doing it this way, no one would think twice about it. Just random people getting together, or just a coincidence they were all at the same place same time. No one would add it up."

"There is more going on than anyone knew. This goes further than just Danzō, it is his ninja. As of this moment, those that we know of in root can be deemed as enemies. We cannot rule anything out. Between Oro, the Akatsuki, and Danzō, our home may be in more danger than originally thought to have been."

"We shouldn't jump to conclusions about anything. I do have to agree, there is more to this than what anyone knows about. Itachi may have dug up something that is bigger than he originally thought of."

Settling there, each pondering their own thoughts for the night. Sleeping on a rotation, wanting to head to the port to see when the boats were leaving for the northeastern islands. Heading into town, sorting out identities for their trip. Talking to the respective personnel, they found they'd arrived in the nick of time. Having less than ten minutes to get their fares in order, then to board. Hurrying on, they pulled up the ramp setting off to their next destination. It was a long ride, having their own room. Keeping to themselves, taking their food to their room. Going to the deck late at night or early morning, avoiding the swarm of people. The first stop was at Sea, moving along to O'Uzu island where they would have to board another boat at the northern part of the island. Disguising themselves after they reached the halfway point, not wanting to wait any longer. Avoiding main villages, shrines, and roads they hired a boat to take them to Water where they would have to get another boat to take them to their last stop. Grateful for the disguise, Sakura had seen two people that would have recognized her in a jiffy. Hurrying to get going, noticing that all the boat rides were starting to take a toll on their spending fund.

On the last boat, it was crowded. Not able to get away, having to remain on deck. Watching the scenery change, Neji stood behind her. Feeling him move a hand around her, adjusting himself. Head moving to settle on her shoulder, sighing.

"We're being watched."

Chuckling, patting his hand. "Of course, we are. We attract attention no matter what."

Feeling his chuckle rather than hear it. "It's your fault."

"How?"

"Hn."

Frustrated with the lack of an answer, "That's not an answer."

"I know."

Leaning back on the boy, playing the other part of this. Knowing that for the most part, they could play off from one another, it wasn't something a lot of ninjas had lately. Finally feeling the eyes slide from them, remaining cuddly. Preserving the act while on the boat. Once to the island, hurrying away from the group. Acting as though they were exploring, Sakura pointed out all the different flowers.

Shocking her, Neji pulled out money to pay for a small bouquet and offering them to her. Cheerfully thanking him, walking through the small town before heading out. Making sure they were alone, putting the flowers in her pack before they took off. Knowing of a couple of places they could find out information starting from the north, before heading back to the south. Sleeping in the flowers that night, there were little woods surrounding them. Cue the name of the island. Waking early the next morning, heading into town for food and to get a room if they had any. Doing their best to fit in, without drawing attention to themselves. Succeeding, seeing the number of ninjas they were seeing. They might be in the right area, listening and talking to the locals. Having Sakura move to another booth, splitting their efforts.

Neji moved to an elder with plentiful flowers, "I heard from my father that there was an ancient kunai buried in the ground in this land. Only the people that come from here know about it, if they deem the people worthy of their knowledge they can go there. He also said it gives those that visit the site a wish. You see that girl over there?" Pointing to Sakura, seeing the elder nod piquing his interest. "I want to wish that she says yes when I ask her to marry me. Our families have said yes, but she hasn't yet."

"Oh, my dear boy. I don't know of any kunai like that, just myths fathers tell their children. If your families have said yes, listen to them!"

Dropping his head so he didn't see the scowl, "Thank you." Walking away

"Boy." Looking up, seeing a middle-aged man looking at him beckoning him his way. "Don't listen to him. Sometimes our elders our more focused on traditions than love. That kunai isn't here anymore, it was here for a long time. It left recently, but you didn't hear that from me. I heard that it moved to the mainland, going through the Fire Nation then up to Lightning. After that, we lost track of it."

"Could it still be in lightning? I only have a short time left before I ask her before they just make us wed."

"I'm not sure kid. I have a friend that lives in the next town, he might know more than me. He kept track of it better, he should be able to help you. Whatever you do, don't let anyone else know what's going on." Slipping him a paper

"Why? What's so important to keep it quiet?"

"It's spoken that some head of one of the great nations controls it and its powers. If it gets in the wrong hands, it could be catastrophic. So, this is just between you and me kid. No other ninja needs it." Neji nodded, getting the information before watching the man disappear into the crowd

Moving to find Sakura talking to a group of girls, who stopped looking at him when he came over. Grinning at him, excusing herself from the group. Taking his hand, letting him lead the way. Stopping for food to go, getting out of town. Sakura didn't ask questions, knowing that whatever had Neji in a hurry it required no questions. Getting away from the town, settling down finally. Settling camp up roughly, going heavy on traps.

Once Neji felt comfortable, he settled down. Knowing that Sakura would have questions, he would need to answer them. "I know you have questions. We were sought out, and I was given information, but our cover was compromised. It was time to leave before others found out who we were. It is up to you whether we go to the informant or not. I think we should, we might have a better chance of figuring out where we should go."

"Okay, we'll go. Guards up, at the first sign of trouble we get the hell out of there."

"Neji, behind you!"

"Worry about you!" Neji yelled back, moving to take back the offense

Sakura nodded, taking care of the group that she had. Being ambushed just after midnight. It was tough, it was two against at least six. Having taken one down each, which wasn't easy. Sakura was thankful for her genjutsu, confusing the foe. Being the first time since they'd been on this mission that they'd had to battle anyone, they were trying to finish it quickly. Yet, they were persistent bastards. Seeing Neji being hit, had her lose her focus. Feeling the slash on her back, taking a knee. Hearing the two laugh, then stop when they didn't see it any longer.

"How did you heal that already; you shouldn't have been able to do that?"

Sakura scowled, letting her chakra scalpels come out. Instead of fighting them and choosing to ignore the pain. Moving toward the one that caused the the pain, working to take him out first. Holding the other off first, using her head not letting herself lose control. Fed up with the nuisance, taking out the second one.

"They didn't say you were this strong."

Scowling, "Who are they?"

"Madara, he said that you should be easy."

"Too bad you can't relay the message of fuck off." Taking him by surprise and hitting him with her chakra scalpel

Turning to Neji, seeing that he was finishing his last enemy. Sighing, moving to him. Healing the major wounds that she could see, saving the rest for when they found cover. They'd been in battle for what seemed like hours but was really only an hour or so.

"You need to heal yourself. You're standing in a pool of your own blood."

Shaking her head, "I can't." Looking at him, he'd never seen the fear she held in in her eyes before. "We need to get somewhere; you have to look at it."

Grabbing the maps, they found a small hotel. Sakura sent Neji to get them a room, not wanting to concern the owners. Getting into the room, Sakura dropped her genjutsu. Neji finally saw the extent of her injuries. Moving into the bathroom, in an effort to avoid staining the carpets. Sakura had him wait while she removed her top, covering herself then had him come in. Surprised at the depth of the wound, it wasn't large. Spanning from the top of her right shoulder down to the bottom of the shoulder blade.

"My kit, has a powder to stop the blood flowing. It should help it to start coagulating."

"Why are you not healing it?" Neji asked, concerned seeing it further

"Because whatever they used, using my chakra has made it worse. That's why it's become so deep. I've had to stop my body from healing it or I was going to bleed out."

"I've never heard of that."

"They are rare cases. They were used during the first wars; it was agreed to not use these techniques. They are inhuman, clear that those ninjas didn't care. To heal it, I'd need another medic who specializes in chakra extraction. Without the correct training, it could go wrong. Before you ask, you can't."

"Alright, what do you need me to do." Holding the packet of powder

Seeing her steel herself, "Pour it from the top to the bottom, try to do an even layer then put it where the blood seems to be seeping the most. Then you will need to put gauze and tape it good."

"Tell me again after I do the powder."

Looking behind her. Neji was surprised to see the tears on her face, not one to show her emotion. "No, Neji." Speaking firmly, never to this extent. "You need to remember. There is a reason that these are considered inhumane. Once that powder touches my wound, the pain is going to be agonizing and I am going to pass out. Because that powder is going to do what a medic would do quickly. It's going to extract the chakra that was placed there and whatever else was. Pushing it into the gauze." Sakura explained, "Can you do this for me? If you can't, I'm going to lose too much blood before I get to someone that can help me."

"Hai, Sakura." Neji took a breath in. "I'm going to start."

Seeing her nod. Beginning the task, hearing her hold in her cries. Hurrying to get what she told him to, once the first two layers were done. Noticing that the sounds had stopped, but her body remained tense. Making to finish, the blood was finally slowing down. Just as she had said. Placing the gauze on it, then another set before pressing down to put the tape on. Securing the work that he'd done. Leaving her there for a moment, coming back with one of his shirts. Slipping that over her head, moving her arms through the sleeves then picking her up. Taking the garments that fell leaving them in the bathroom. Throwing down one of the spare shirts she had under her shoulder, just in case of excessive bleeding.

Moving to clean up the mess in the bathroom, keeping himself busy for a while before finally settling down on the same bed. It was with hesitation to rest, but a few minutes wouldn't hurt them. Waking up, it was still dark with the line of light hitting the horizon. Checking on Sakura, seeing that she'd started to run a fever. Not sure who else to turn to, he turned to the scroll of the Hokage.

"What do you need at this time of night?" Hearing Kakashi's voice

"Where is Lady Tsunade?" Cutting to the chase

"I'm right here, you were asked what is going on."

"Sakura, she was injured."

"How severely?"

"That's the thing, I don't understand what she was talking about. She said that it was uncommon to see nowadays. Something about being a chakra wound, that chakra won't work on it. That if any chakra is applied to it, it makes it worse."

"Good god." Hearing her say that did not settle his nerves any, "When did this happen, what is going on? Kakashi seal the room."

Waiting for the go ahead, Neji began to tell them of the occurrence. "After midnight. We were ambushed at our camp; we'd found intel on something. We'd planned on going there today. She didn't let me know the true extent of her injury until we got to a hotel. It's about five to six inches long, but it is deep. She tried to heal it, then her body tried. She said that's why she was bleeding heavily."

"Has the bleeding stopped, what did she do for it?"

"She had me use a powder. It's supposed to coagulate the blood, she said that once I started the process she'd pass out."

"Oh for fucks sake."

"What Tsunade?" Hearing Kakashi ask

Neji could only image the older woman rubbing her face, reaching for a sake glass. "That is the medieval method of dealing with that. Chiyo taught her that bull shit. Extracting the chakra can be done. Where was this again?"

"It was on her right shoulder."

"See, that does make it difficult. You have to be able to see the string that you're pulling out. If it breaks, it can cause more problems. Sakura had no other choice."

"That's what she said. If we got her anywhere, she would have bled out before that happened."

"I'm assuming something more is going on now. You've got a hold of us." Tsunade spoke firm

"Hai. Sakura has started to run a fever now."

"When was the last time you checked her wound?"

"I haven't again. She didn't tell me to."

Hearing her sigh, "Alright Hyuga, go over to her and have her med pack." Listening, grabbing the pack and scroll, and throwing the scroll on the end stand. Letting her know he was ready. "Take off the bandages carefully, she'll have a green bag in her pack. Put all the waste in there, tie it tightly after this." Doing as told, getting the bag ready then removing the bandages. Seeing a yellow substance pulling away from her body. "What color is it?"

"It's yellow."

"They laced it with poison, she must have assumed that. Did all of it come off?"

"Yeah."

"Good. In that bag of hers, there should be something labeled code pink." Digging through the bag, finding the tube it wasn't something he'd seen before. "Alright, get a thing of gauze out and pour that on the wound cleaning up as you go. It's going to smell."

Starting, trying to hold the gag in. "What the hell Tsunade?" he forgot who he was talking to

"I did tell you it was going to be nasty, you're the idiot that didn't listen. It is Sakura's concoction for poisons. It's a broad-spectrum method to remove any lingering effects, a quick fix in the field."

"In the field?"

"Once she's up, Sakura can take care of any lingering effects. Check the wound with chakra in your hand. Don't try to heal it if the process worked there will be no effect. If there are lingering effects, it will begin to bleed. With that, you will have to repeat this process and hope there are no internal infections."

Sighing, not liking the thought of that. Proceeding with his instructions, stopping seeing no blood start. Feeling relief hit his system. "What's going on Hyuga?!"

"It's all good Lady Hokage."

"Good work Hyuga. Get it wrapped up, and keep an eye on her for the next couple of hours. But she should begin healing herself then. You got a hold of us at the right time."

"Thank you."

"You're welcome. We'll talk to you later."

Nodding, rolling the scroll up. Finishing wrapping Sakura's shoulder, for the second time that night. Hoping that the position he put her in, she was comfortable. Cleaning up the mess doing as told with the green bag. Moving around the small room, he repaired Sakura's vest the best he could. He'd done it a time or two, it wasn't the best but better than having a large rip in it. Getting back in bed, relaxing. Thankful that he'd had the scroll, he was lost on what to do. It was mid-day when Sakura started to stir, sitting up. Looking around, catching Neji's attention.

"Hey." She spoke, feeling the pain from the day before

"How are you feeling?"

"I've been worse. How did it go?"

Moving to sit in front of her, "I ended up communicating with Lady Tsunade, you started to run a fever last night."

"They laced it with poison. The bastards." Sakura groaned, moving her shoulder. Pulling the shirt up to reveal the bandages, pulling them off. Finding that there was nothing on the bandages, which was a good start. Having Neji move to look at it, for the most part, it was healed now. The middle was the last to heal. The ends had healed, except it left a scar. Telling her what he saw.

"That is bound to happen with that style of injury, unfortunately." Putting the shirt back on, throwing her feet over the side of the bed. Standing, hearing the protest.

"We've stayed in one place for too long. Thank you for taking care of me, now it's time to get a move on." Moving to her med pack. Taking out a couple of different pills, going to take them with water. Cleaning up the pack, then grabbing a couple of food packs. Throwing one to her partner, telling him to start eating while she got dressed. Keeping the shirt on, and throwing on the rest of her uniform. Moving to eat while he packed up the little bit he had gotten out. Stuffing the green bag into a spare pack, Sakura led them out. Neji took over the lead, taking them in the direction of where they needed to go. Arranging two places to stop for rest, before heading to the hut the next day. Neji wanted more time, wanting to avoid any more problems. Settling at the last place, setting up more traps, and being more prepared than last time.

Breaking down camp, high on alert. "Don't forget this is probably a bad idea," Sakura spoke

"You've said that."

"You have to."

"Let's not go into this fighting," Neji spoke, standing annoyed that they'd been in dissent all morning

"You're right, sorry."

"I'm sorry too. We're both uneasy, and tense. Being found out, then attacked so easily nevertheless."

"Do you know who contacted you?"

"No. I had never seen them before, then they vanished into the crowd. They knew where to find us, then where to disappear. Keeping us hidden but out in the open."

Disapproving the situation, they finished cleaning up. Moving to their next destination. Slowly making their way there, Neji made sure his byakugan was activly watching every second. Finding a small hut, that appeared abnormally placed. Watching it for a period of time, seeing a man come out look around then go back in. As if he was waiting. Nodding, approaching the hut. The man met them outside, ushering them in.

Greeting them, getting to the point of our visit. "From Lightning, it looks to stay in the smaller countries. They wanted to avoid the larger countries having it for longer periods. I will give you the list I have, it is the only one that was made. It came from me and only me. Whatever else is there, it is not safe to speak in this country: I do hope that you get what you need. Stay safe, I heard you were attacked"

"Thank you. We hope that we do too. You stay safe too, we appreciate it."

Seeing him hold his hand up, silencing the hut. Pushing them to a corner of the hut that neither had noticed before. Opening a door, being pushing in and then shut in, moving back until their backs hit the wall. Sakura set up her own genjutsu, strengthening what was there.

The door swung open, with three ninjas walking in. From what they could tell they were rouge ninjas but the one looked familiar to Sakura. Wondering if they were related to the ones they fought off the previous night. Holding their breaths, listening to them threatening the man. Having him deny knowing anything, continuing to be adamant. This went on for almost fifteen minutes before the leader of the pack threw the man into the wall. Kunai to his neck, threatening him. Knowing there was nothing either of them could do, Sakura took Neji's hand holding it tight. If they blew their cover now, it would all be for nothing.

Watching him slit the man's throat, throwing him to the side like garbage. Sakura closed her eyes, holding herself back from going to him. Knowing they were flipping the table and trying to find anything. Standing in that corner for almost two hours, ensuring that they were gone and had moved on. When they finally left, Sakura said a quick sorry as they fled. Leaving the beautiful island, with the horrible memories. Heading back to the mainland, quickly trying to figure out the money situation. Getting on a late-night boat, getting back to Wave. Taking the next boat to Wave, taking the bridge back to Fire country. Entering their home nation, remaining in their disguises.

"We have to go back to your home, taking all those boat rides and paying for non-sanctioned trips cost us."

"That's impossible. We're out on a mission, they are not expecting us to come back for some time."

Sakura pondered their next moves, walking well into the day. Barely stopping, moving becoming second nature. "There is a way. You won't like it."

"When you say it that way, just say it and get it over with it."

"Being as I know your cousin's schedule of training. We can get in contact with her, get her to get the money and I know of a safe place to stay while we are staying low for the night."

"You're right I don't like it. But I do know that it is one of our only options."

Nodding, "I'm glad you see it my way. We should stop soon to make camp; she trains early tomorrow."

"How is it that you scheduled her so far out and still remember her schedule?"

"Shikamaru always used to tell me that being over-prepared is better than under. So, having the schedule memorized for a year if we're gone for that long. We've already been gone five months since we left Naruto. This has been a wild goose chase as of right now. We have loads of clues, with no hard evidence pointing to anyone or anything." Sighing with frustration, having Neji point off the road. Taking that as a cue to head off, finding a small clearing a little way in.

Having how they wanted the camp set up down to a tee, settling down for the night. Rising early, getting going, it wouldn't take long to get to their home. Arriving at the training grounds, Neji remained in his jutsu while Sakura returned to her form. Spotting her student, ensuring that she was alone before approaching her. "Hanabi."

"Sensei?" Hanabi looked up excitedly, "I didn't know you were back!"

Shaking her head, "I'm not. But you were the only person we knew we could come to. There is something you must do for us. No one can know what we are here or were here, it is vital. You need to treat this as if it is of utmost importance, or it could be catastrophic for our mission."

"Of course, whatever you need sensei."

Smiling to her student, "Thank you. You need to go to my room and hidden in my nightstand is money. I need the stash of it, just bring all of it to me, okay?"

"Right now?"

"Please. Us being out in the open right now is not safe, we need to get going."

"Hai, I'll be back shortly. Do I need to tell you when I'm back?"

Shaking her head, seeing her student smile hurrying back to the house. Moving back to sit with Neji, waiting patiently. Sensing her return, but she had someone with her. Looking at her companion, wanting to know who was with her. Seeing Neji sigh, tilting his head in that direction. Going ahead, meeting the duo in the middle of the open field.

"Lord Hyuga, Hanabi."

"I caught her with your money. She said that you had requested it. I had to come to see for myself."

"What she said was true. We need it desperately if we are to continue, can we please have it so we can continue on."

"I figured as much, that's what took her so long. Here, I brought this for you. Do not use your own money." Handing her a pouch full. "Whatever it is you two are doing, is causing some rumors to start spreading."

"I'm sorry I can't speak about it. Nothing we say out in the open is safe. I should get going, arigotō for this." Sakura started to turn away

"Are you safe, do you need somewhere to stay?"

"No, I have a place for us. I should really be going."

"Tell my nephew to stay safe. You do the same, I'm not sure that whatever mission you are on is one that should have been taken by you two."

Turning back to smile, "We're the best at what we do. We'll be safe, we have each other."

Leaving quickly, rejoining Neji. Seeing him and his uncle having a silent conversation, once he turned off his byakugan they left. Following Sakura to their next destination, surprised at where they were. Heading into one building finding books and scrolls. Not asking, being led to a section that had been hidden by a gen-jutsu.

"If we're going to find any hard evidence that Madara and Danzō are working in compliance, it might be here. Stumbling upon this room years ago, I never searched it thoroughly. This was the only part of the house that wasn't destroyed, it was also behind one of the strongest gen-jutsus I've ever had to break. It took me a year to get through it."

"Did you ever ask for help?"

"No. At that point, I figured it was a good challenge. Looking back, it was dumb of me. It could have been a trap. At least it wasn't, what came from it was one of the best hiding gen-jutsus I've ever seen. Whatever is hidden back here, has to deal with something pertaining to what we're dealing with. Why would it be hidden like this? It wasn't like some of the other scrolls I found."

"Do you always go snooping through other people's things?"

"Well, when there are only two people living it's hard to ask their permission. I asked the dead and they didn't say no." Sakura laughed, lightening the mood.

Getting to work, tirelessly going through each book and scroll. Keeping the ones of importance out, "Neji!" Sakura called out, getting her partner's attention

Hurrying over to her, reading what she had found. It was just the head of the nail, needing to find the rest. "That is an amazing find. Now to keep it safe."

Nodding, making a pile of what needed to be taken with them. Stopping hearing voices, turning to Neji who had also heard it. Thinking she was hallucinating. "Set up that gen-jutsu before it's too late."

Replacing the jutsu, moving back into the room. Waiting to see who would come in, this would give them a clue on who was, but neither expected to see who they did.

"Hoga, where are they?"

"I'm sorry Danzō, my men lost them when they left water."

"What do you mean lost them?" Danzō spoke taking a hold of the front of his robes, pulling him to him

"They vanished from their radar. There was word that they went back to Moon, but no one has seen them yet."

"Find them and bring them alive. I'll have their heads."

"You can't prove what their mission is."

"I don't have to. Haruno has been a thorn in my side since the day she was born, my best agents were taken from me that day. If they hadn't been worried about whether their daughter was surviving okay, I would have had my kunai. We wouldn't be having this discussion. You need to get it to me."

"About that."

Watching him clench his jaw, clearly frustrated. "Now what?"

"On its way through Demons, the messenger was killed by the Akatsuki. They took over the destination. Madara said that he'd handle getting it to Bears."

"That was not the plan."

"That is what I told him. He said that was the best possible solution." Watching Hoga, coward away from the elder man. "He also said that when the time is right, he'll bring it back to its rightful place."

"I don't care what he thinks. He needs to stick to the plan!" Seeing him push the man away from him, "Madara thinks he is all-powerful, let him be. Do not give him any more assistance, let him suffer. If he thinks that a full-scale attack will work against our village, let him come."

"Hai. I will send one of my messengers to him."

"If I have to, I'll take that man out."

Seeing Hoga smile, "You'll be the most powerful boss."

"Hn. Let's go, before anyone finds that we are both gone."

"Hai." Watching them leave, waiting for Neji to get confirmation

Clicking off the tape recorder, Neji turned to her. Trying to figure out where the hell that had been derived from. "My bag. We have what we need, there is another one of these rooms with a bed and a small kitchen. Let's go there and relax for the night."

Letting her lead the way, clear she knew her way around these parts. It was on the outskirts of the village, which was beneficial. Staying there, placing their own traps up still. When Sakura said that it was a room, that was giving it the benefit. It had a single burner in a corner with a bunk. Shrugging when she saw his questioning face. Discussing the fact, they would have to change their identities yet again. Going over what they would change too. Sakura moved around the hut picking up a couple of boards. Hiding the books, scrolls, and recorder in a box that was in the ground there. Watching her do a jutsu on the box, putting the boards back.

"Yes, I've spent some time in this hut. I trained close by and sometimes didn't have the strength to get back home. Staying here was better than staying out in the elements." Sakura spoke up

"I agree with that; overexerting yourself isn't a good idea."

"Yeah, well. That was a young and dumb Sakura it seems. I'll get dinner going, you relax tonight."

Agreeing laying on the bed, watching Sakura cook a simple dinner. Sitting together on the bed once done, before turning on each other to ready themselves for bed. Laying together on the bed, getting sleep before heading out the next day. Trusting what they heard the day before, changing their identities. With new identities, they stopped for lunch hearing them being beckoned by the scroll. Opening the scroll that was given to them by the Hokage.

"Hello, you two."

"Hello. Songbirds are the bird that holds a special place."

"In a heart that lies deep in love." Sighing in relief that he'd remembered the message they'd made years ago if it had been Naruto she'd be concerned

"Kakashi, we have a problem. There may be an attack and I'm not sure we will be back in time to assist. We don't know exactly when, just be wary. Also, we've been found out. We hold no information, but we need help we need a cover."

"Do not worry about that, Lord Hiashi has done that for you. You both have taken time off from work after a successful mission with Naruto. To commemorate your courting. Taking time for yourselves for once, before coming back to work. That will buy you some time."

"Thank you, sensei. We'll get it done."

"Do what you need. We will talk again," Rolling the scroll up ending the talk

Finishing their lunch quickly, getting back on the road. Avoiding the main roads, wanting to keep the attention they drew to a minimum. Trying to gain knowledge as they passed by any village that seemed promising. Continuing this mode of travel until they reached the outskirts of Bears Country. Changing their identities yet again before crossing the borders. Choosing where they walked carefully, listening to the merchant's and other passerby's stories. Playing the newly married couple, traveling per the wish of their grandparents who never got the chance to. It was similar but it worked and to add to the fact they continued to change their identities.

Before settling into work in their small village, Sakura a schoolteacher, and Neji worked with the trade routes. His was made on a whim, not really knowing what to give him for a job. Hell, he didn't know, so Sakura did it.

Those that lived within the country, followed what they said. Taking what they heard, and using it to their benefit. One night at their camp, they had a surprise visitor.

"The music is upbeat lately," Sakura spoke out, waiting for the proper reply

"That is hard to believe with all the chaos." Nodding, letting the man into the camp. Having him come in sitting down before he could start talking Sakura moved to him doing a workup. "Is this necessary?"

"Shut up." Focusing on her work. The man turned to the other, hoping for something. Seeing him shake his head, offering him nothing.

"You've been doing what I told you," Sakura said surprised

"I'm not an idiot."

Scuffing, "No, but you're not known for your cooperation. I have something different for you, it should start healing you."

"I told you to focus on the mission. Do not worry about me."

"Shut up and take the damn medicine." Thrusting it into his hands, giving him a drink

Doing as she said, grimacing at the flavor. "Are all medics as aggressive as you?"

"When we have patients as stubborn as you, yeah." Sakura smiled, moving to take the seat next to Neji. "Clearly, you've caught up with us. You have news for us."

"Yes. It's not good. They are on to you; they know you are using disguises. It is only a matter of time before they figure it out. How close are you?"

Looking at Neji, they were close. "Be prepared within two weeks, there will be war."

"Very close then. I will remain close, as I'm sure you will need assistance. I assume that if you are close, you have what you need for Danzō?"

"Yeah, for the most part."

"Good, that bastard can get what he deserves then. Then maybe the Uchiha name will finally be cleared, once and for all."

Sakura nodded, realizing that he only knew the surface of it. Hell, everyone, they'd talked to knew just the surface. Yet, just like an iceberg, only a small percentage showed the rest hid below the surface. Neither were willing to let any information away to anyone, even to the one that brought them into this situation. "What else has happened?"

"What?" Sakura looked up confused

"There is more that has happened or come up."

"We've chosen not to discuss it until the timing is right. That way, we know that it will be brought to light when necessary."

"That can be respected."

"When was the last time you ate?" Sakura asked, the medic in her still observing the man before her

"Times are tough right now."

Nodding, throwing some food packs at the man. "Eat. We have plenty, you need your energy if you're going to keep up."

"Are you mocking me Haruno?"

"If that's what it takes you to eat, take it that way."

Watching him start to eat, glad to see that he was keeping it down. Once he was done, she moved to monitor him again. Having him ask if this was how she treated everyone, sneering at the man. Taking more blood, letting the boys talk while she worked. Impressed to see the medicine having such a good effect without side effects.

"I was surprised to see this gen-jutsu, it's been a long time since I've seen it. Who taught it to you? Sasuke-Kun?"

Shaking her head, "No, I found it when cleaning up the manor. It took me nearly a year to figure it out, I finally got it and I've used it to my benefit a lot anymore. Why is it surprising?" Seeing Itachi's face twitch

"It was something that I had created, Kurenai said that it was one best she'd ever seen. Where did you find it?" Pausing, not sure she wanted to disclose the location. "There are three locations through the compound where I put those seals up. One in the library, another in my room, and lastly the one where Madara resided."

"It was the library."

"Good. The other rooms were closed off for reasons."

"I left them be, the one in the library had my curiosity spiking."

"That is the one place I knew that someone had hidden something. I couldn't find where it was before leaving, so I put that up. No one else knew I'd created that besides Kurenai, maybe Kakashi but he never said anything."

"He's not known for saying anything unless it is necessary." Answering him. Even if it wasn't a question, it sounded that way

"Just as a heads up, I put this on one of the huts closest to the outskirts of the village. I'd been training nearby and some nights I couldn't make it home, at that point, I didn't trust a lot of people."

"Good to know, I doubt there will be a time they will be of use to me." Shrugging. "I'll be taking my leave, good luck. I will be seeing you shortly, once you've begun your battle which way are you heading?"

Looking to Neji who gave a slight nod, "If everything goes well, back home. If not, we're heading towards Suna because that is where we have backup stationed then home." Seeing him nod, leaving watching him set the jutsu back up. It would be the last time they would see him without a battle happening.

It was as they predicted, two weeks after their last meeting that all hell broke loose. Having spoken to Kakashi one last time, giving him a fair warning and to send a warning to Naruto to be ready. They had the kunai in hand and were currently fighting off one of the lower Akatsuki, what wasn't beneficial was there had been no sight of Itachi anywhere. There had been some other ninjas pop up occasionally, but the Akatsuki had taken them out. Glad there was only one right now, not sure that they could handle any more than that.

Getting in a good hit, got them the distance they needed to put distance between the parties.

"We need to get a move on, we can't afford to have more confrontation. Especially if they call for more backup."

"No shit Neji!" Sakura yelled, keeping pace with her comrade

Thinking they were out of the clear, they shouldn't have thought that so quickly. Finding the previous member and a new one, Sakura growled. They didn't know who held the kunai but that didn't matter to them, they were both going to die one way or another if the tides turned.

Entering the battle, airing on the side of caution. Conserving the chakra they could, but knowing that they would run out against them inevitably. From the corner of Sakura's eye, she saw the one Akatsuki go down. But a new one replaced them. Frustrated and wanting to end this, turned the tides of her fight. Ending the life of her opponent, moving to help Neji. Whose opponent also dropped again. Not waiting for anything more to happen, they started moving again. Having met two more not far after, it was enough to get Neji partially healed.

This time around, Sakura was the one to get hurt. No one noticed besides Neji. Seeing through her gen-jutsu, having been trained to do so. Refusing to let it slow her down, Neji smirked watching her continue. Yet again these two were taken out without them touching them. Looking around, seeing the cause. Hurrying to the man, picking him up. Seeing that he was bleeding heavily from his stomach, he gurgled out what happened.

"Stop talking and save your energy." Sakura ordered healing the major injury before picking him up "We need to get to Suna. We have to be out of Bears Country by now."

"Hai. Give me the scroll, I'll contact Kakashi and inform him what is going on. Get Naruto to meet us."

"Hai."

That wasn't as easy said as done, having to keep stopping. Keeping Itachi protected behind a gen-jutsu, for what seemed like hours they finally seemed to get a break. Running on minimal energy, spotting the familiar orange tracksuit. Sakura sighed in relief. Knowing that he was going to give them a hard time about who they were carrying with them, she was mentally preparing herself.

"Sakura-Chan!"

Coming to a stop, huffing finally having to release her own jutsu. The damage wasn't horrible, but it wasn't great. It was that middle ground of possibly needing her own medic to help save her ass. Itachi saved their asses today and he needed to survive so she could thank him.

Setting Itachi down, taking a seat with him. "Naruto, I'm glad to see you but I'm not sure how long we're in the clear for."

"Hai, Sakura-Chan. We've got it from here, I'll take Itachi. Can you make it to Suna?"

Nodding, "I'll take a Chaka replenishing pill and I'll be good. Neji?"

Hearing him say the same, holding his hand out. Giving him one and taking one, "Alright, you're still team leader."

Nodding looking at the group, Hinata, Naruto, Shino, Kiba, and Akamaru. "Kiba, Akamaru you will surround Naruto. Hinata, you and Neji will take the back. Shino you and I will lead if for any reason we run into trouble-."

"The three of you have to press on."

Sakura shook her head, "Naruto presses forward, we have the Akatsuki trailing us and other unknown ninjas. They're fast and strong. Without Itachi, we wouldn't have been able to hold them off. Once he was injured, it took a toll on us."

"Hai."

Sighing, gearing to run. With no major hiccups, the occasional rouge ninja. Nothing that couldn't be handled quickly. Moving with stealth, they made it to Suna in no time. Being taken to the hospital, no questions asked. Gaara met them there waiting for the report from Sakura who was barely holding her eyes open.

"Akatsuki. They attacked; Itachi-sama is the one to help us before he got severely injured himself. He has cancer and is not up to par as is. He has been taking an antidote I've been giving him, it has helped. There's no time, so we need to heal up and get home because I fear that war is around the corner."

Before they could ask any more questions, Sakura passed out. Neji had long since been being worked on, now it was a waiting game. Once Sakura was back on her feet with food in her stomach, she turned to Neji first. Healing him, even with his protests. Afterward it was Itachi. Moving to Gaara, saying they needed somewhere private just Neji, Itachi, him, and herself. Nodding, having them follow him, zig-zagging and making their way through the buildings. Naruto and his squad stood guard at the entrance, allowing no one.

"What is so secret that we had to come here?" Gaara asked the room sealed then to add extra protection he even had his sand block create a second barrier.

Grabbing her pack, pulling out the kunai with the gems. "This, I'm going to assume that you've heard the rumors." Watching him come and examine the weapon, using his sand to twist and turn it. Watching him nod, "We were sent on this mission to obtain this. It was in an Akatsuki stronghold that we were told to infiltrate."

"Why send the two of you? That is asinine! You are two of the best ninjas Leaf has."

Sakura nodded, "That might have been part of it, but we can blend. Blend better than most people can, whether it be to our past or the training we've endured. Whatever the reasoning, it happened."

"How did you two survive the infiltration?"

"That's how Itachi comes in. He has been feeding us information, at first, I didn't see it. It was right there; he couldn't come to us. So, instead of blowing our covers and his cover, he sent others. It started on the first boat mission, we kept mainly to ourselves, but we had different people come to us and share random facts."

"But because of who you are, you remembered them."

Smiling, "Exactly. Sorry, I didn't fill you in sooner Neji. It just all started connecting the last little bit and by the point everything hit, we were in battle."

"It's alright."

"Alright." Sakura smiled, "Then while we were in moon, the man was just too helpful to us. But he was just another pawn in all of this. Giving us the opportunity to find out information. Each location, each town, each person we encountered, they were placed strategically." Sakura spoke excitedly

"Are you going to enlighten me about your mood? Because you said war is looming overhead. How can you be so excited?"

"There are so many layers that I can't talk to you about, but just know that justice is going to be served. Once and for all."

"That is just one layer of what you've been doing?"

"You have no idea, my friend." Sakura smiled, "We have to go home, there is much to do there."

"Temari and Kankurō will accompany you, if you require back up there will be backup ready."

"Thank you. Tell the other heads in two days that the kunai has been located, it is in its rightful home of Konoha. There will be war with the Akatsuki, I know you know what to do with that information."

"Of course. Be safe, I must stay and protect my people."

"I know, you do what you must. I'll do what I do best, stir up trouble."

Hearing the foreign sound of Gaara laughing, filling the room. "You go kick enemy ass, let your medic side take the back burner on this. This is a battle that needs your inner strength, it's not every day your internal chaos can come out."

"You got it, Kazekage." Sakura moved to hug the man, who returned it

Feeling her old self coming through but having the maturity that she'd gained through the years. With the help from Neji, this mission, her eyes saw everything how it should have been. Storing the kunai back in its protective sleeve, then back to where she'd gotten it. Gaara removed the protective barriers before they hurried out, finding the two other ninjas they needed waiting. Giving them time to gather their things, they would leave at first light. Staying the night in the rooms they had previously occupied, having to make some changes to sleeping arrangements.

"Hinata, can we talk?" Sakura pulled the girl aside, before doing anything, seeing that she and Naruto had their sleep rolls in separate rooms. Seeing a nod from the girl, stepping out of the small apartment heading to the end of the hall. Looking out the window, waiting to build the courage to talk to the girl. "Neji and I are seeing each other." There it was out there. Not hearing anything, she turned to see the girl smiling.

"It wasn't hard to tell. My cousin has never woken up in a panic over someone else before. His first instinct was to go to you, after telling him that you were fine. I questioned him and he told me. He said that you might not be happy but that's the only way we could figure out what was going on."

Chuckling softly, "It's alright. We started dating at the beginning of this obnoxious mission. I was against it, but in a way, it helped keep me going. I wanted to let you know when well before you saw us sharing a room. Knowing at the end of this, we might have the normal couple times."

Seeing her nod, not having anything else to say. "Do you think war is really coming?"

Looking over at her friend, surprised. "How could you?"

"For once, you are back to some of your old ways. With these types of missions, especially with you two, there were rumors. Danzō has been talking."

Scuffing at the name, "Fuck that bastard."

Seeing her nod, "Whatever you two had to do, I know it was for the benefit of our home."

"You bet your ass it was. I'd do it over again." Sakura spoke firmly, proud. Something that Hinata hadn't heard in a long time. It wasn't just talking; it was Sakura talking. All of it, she'd found herself again. "We should head to bed. We aren't going through the main gates; we are staying somewhere else tomorrow night. It's going to be a hard run. Be ready, we leave at first light. Goodnight."

Watching the girl stalk off, for the years she'd known her. The last years had hardened her, cocooned her. Breaking free from that cocoon, coming out stronger than ever. Finally finding the balance, between when to be hard and when to be carefree. Not sure if the girl felt the change in herself or even felt stronger, but it was there. No one did it but her. Everyone might have guided her these last months, even pushed her. But she did it, it was exactly what Tsunade wanted from her. Her student to find balance.

Waking before the rest of the group, readying her pack and getting food ready for her team. Neji came out sometime later, helping her. Once everyone was up and had eaten, they got going as soon as they saw the sun. Leading the group in the direction they needed, knowing what needed to be done. Trying to cumulate a plan.

"What is running through your mind Hurano-san?" Itachi asked beside her

"It's nothing."

Hearing him scuff, "if it was nothing the boy in orange and Hyuga-san would not be concerned about you."

Peering at the two he was speaking about, wondering what he was talking about. Which was right. "We have to go about this just right. From what we heard; they're going to attack any day now. If we're going to play Danzō, we need to make it seem that we don't suspect him of anything at first. I need to make sure that we have everything just right."

"Don't drive yourself mad, just to fix this. If you haven't figured it out by now, it's too late."

"It's never too late. Right Naruto?"

"What Sakura-chan?"

"Fixing something. It's never too late."

"Hell no! There are always loopholes!"

"See. Give me time, I'll have it figured out by the time we need it. I wasn't named the brightest kunoichi of my year for no reason."

"Hn."

Smirking at the man beside her, reminding her of the younger Uchiha. Making good time, Sakura led them to the small huts that bordered the boundary. Setting up for the night, Sakura gathered what she needed before joining her group. Everything was how she'd left it, making no big deal of scouting the area. The only two that knew what was going on were the two who had been at the start of this absurd mission. Planning to head back around to go through the main gate, they would follow in Sakura's lead as she was the captain of the mission.

The next day, Sakura had been up most of the night putting her plan into place. Hoping at least, for the time being, it would buy them time. Until everything could be brought out. Making their way to the Hokage tower, Itachi was in cuffs. Naruto had started to protest, yet the glare shut it down. Sakura held him herself, leading him through the village. In the Hokage tower, Shizune gasped at the sight, leading them into the Hokage's office. Seeing Tsunade with Kakashi and Danzō, just as she planned. Shoving the man into the office, watching Kakashi and Tsunade stand, shocked riddled their faces.

"Sakura?"

Bowing "Shishou, sensei. Danzō. I'm sorry that we couldn't announce ourselves, we didn't want to waste any more time than what we had."

"What is going on?" Danzō asked

"While we were off on our scouting mission of the Akatsuki, we ended up facing off with the Uchiha," Neji spoke up

"What do you mean waste any more time Sakura?" Kakashi asked

"After our battle, we ended up meeting Naruto to head to Suna to receive treatment. We had to take a couple of days to recoup before heading home."

"Where did this take place?" Danzō asked

"In Noodles," Sakura spoke, handing over something to Tsunade who nodded showing it to Kakashi and Danzō

"These are interesting stubs that you have Hurano-san. Are you sure that you weren't elsewhere?"

Sakura looked taken aback, "What do you mean? We've been spending most of our time in Noodles, we have more receipts if you need them. To show where the money went."

"No, I didn't realize that your mission was to remain close to home," Danzō spoke

"We only took a week of our time before we wanted to get back to work. Personally, we did go to Geysers during that time. We have those for our own records if you need those too." Neji spoke up

"No, I'm sorry to assume your missions."

"Danzō, you worry about Root and their missions. I'll worry about my people and their missions. Clearly, I have other matters to deal with than your pompous ass. Get out so I can take care of it, call a clan meeting for tonight. We need to announce that the eldest Uchiha is in our custody, and that we will determine what the punishment will be."

"Hai." He stood bowing to the Hokage and the rest of the group, leaving the room

Once he was cleared, Tsunade stood. "Naruto, your group's mission is done. Please leave."

"Baa-chan?"

"Not now, Naruto. Take this to Hiashi and have him give this to Uchiha." Turning to her pupil, expecting her to want to say something

"Trust me Naruto." Smiling, "Tell Sasuke that I have everything taken care of, he doesn't have to worry any longer."

"Hai Baa-chan, Sakura-chan." Once the only occupants were needed, Tsunade sealed the room.

"Sakura, we have a lot to go over before the clan meeting. Start talking."

Nodding to her, getting confirmation on her senses first before beginning. Tsunade was going to allow Sakura to start it at the clan meeting, as she'd been the one to uncover all the dirty. Neji would be the one to add in any information, passing out the information. Itachi would be sent to a high-security hospital room, for the time being, being monitored by Sakura and Neji then transferring over to Ino for the clan meeting. Itachi was not happy, yet had no other options to go along with the plan. Kakashi didn't like it, putting his student in danger. Starting a small feud between the student and the teacher. Ending with Tsunade reaching a breaking point and threatening the duo. Unsealing the door, they finally parted ways. Neji followed Sakura, never seeing this floor before.

"It's in the basement. Only head medics know about it, as we are the only ones to treat criminals typically. Not that you're one, you're just playing the part. Like a good boy." Sakura joked with the elder, who scowled at her.

Inserting IVs and what was needed, Sakura checked his blood once more from a port line she placed. Nodding at the progress she'd made, then administering more medicine. They sat outside like they were supposed to, waiting the three hours. Not talking, knowing each other had to prepare everything just right. Plan everything accordingly, if not this would go down and go against them.

Meeting Yamanaka who had questions, Sakura told her now was not the time. Heading to the clan meeting, making sure that she had everything in place. Greeting Hiashi, he was happy to see them. Asking about their time off from their mission, doing exactly what they needed him to do. With Tsunade silencing the group, sitting down Sakura looked to Neji who nodded. Clicking on the tape, filling in the silence. Watching the room look to Hoga and Danzō, watching Neji hand out paper after paper. Once that tape was done, Sakura put in another one, then another.

"This is absurd! Tsunade! You lied to me, you told me they never left the land of Noodles."

"The detail of their mission is strictly confidential to the Hokage, just as the Root missions have been confidential to you."

"You! Where the hell were you hiding?"

"The better question is why were you trespassing on private land." Sakura remained composed, layer one

"You were too."

"No, I wasn't. Sasuke, once he turned of age his will took effect. If you read up on the papers that were distributed, you'd know that. On page three paragraph four, sentence three, it was left in the care of one Uzumaki Naruto, Hatake Kakashi, and Haruno Sakura. The caretakers of the properties, who have full rein can be on the properties or do as they wish with said properties. Please, show me anywhere in the will does it say anything about you or Hoga being allowed there."

"That is not the point. You lied!"

"That is the point, you are causing chaos that you cannot control anymore Danzō. You are meddling in business that is going to get innocent villagers killed!" Sakura slammed her fist down, silencing the murmurs. Layer number two down. "Now, either you sit down, start talking and start fixing what you've caused, or I'll be the first one to take you to jail."

"I have nothing to say. You can't prove any of this."

Smirking, which had everyone besides her sensei and her boyfriend uncomfortable. Pulling out the kunai that was spoken of, stabbing it into the table. Watching Danzō's face turn white, sitting down.

"How did you manage to get that? Madara said he had it. He wasn't going to give it up." Danzō spoke, "Does he know you have it?"

"What does that matter?" Continuing to rip the layers off

"He'll come for it. There will be nothing that can stop him."

"Yes, there is. If you had any inclination of what honor in a village was like, you would have gone to your Hokage."

"That needs to be returned to him. He won't stop unless he has it."

"Then he has our village to contend with." Tsunade stood, "All who think that Danzō and Hoga should be charged with treason against this village, mass murder of the Uchiha clan, murder of countless agents of Root for missions that were in contempt, and the plot of war; raise your hands now." Seeing the mass of hands raise clear that they were going to be tried

"I will not go to jail!" Hoga flew up out of his chair and before most could react Kakashi and Hisashi were beside him

"You two will be taken to jail until a time in which your trial will be held. Until then your funds and any properties will be held in the hands of the village. Root will be defunded, and those in the program can continue running through a specialized program held through the village. If they wish they can have regular missions. All in favor of that notion?" Hearing a unison Hai

"Hatake, Hyuga, please lead these two out to the officers. We have more to discuss, we will wait for your return."

"Hinata will fill in my seat while I am out. You should proceed with the meeting." Nodding to acknowledge his request

Sakura watched Kakashi take ahold of Hoga, causing him pain as they walked out. Glad he could inflict pain on the man that had caused pain to their family.

"Now, many of you were around-."

"Shishou, before you say anything more. Can I say one last thing?" Seeing her wave her hand giving her the opportunity. Standing, wiping her hands on her vest. "I know what the next vote will be on. Uchiha Itachi. Neji, can you hand out the last paper? This was given to him, that night. It was an ultimatum, one given to him. Were there other options? Maybe, if we didn't have all this information, we wouldn't have been able to hold Danzō accountable. He didn't have anything at that age. It's taken him this long to be able to get all this information, we couldn't have gotten all this information without him. He wants to bring even a little smidgen of honor back to his family name." Sakura paused not sure what else to say. Knowing she didn't want to stand for the injustice that was being held against two boys that were used for the power they held. She must have been spending too much time around Naruto again.

"Is that all Hurano-san?" Turning to Ino's father

"Hai. Arigotō for listening." Sakura bowed sitting down, feeling Neji's hand settle on her shoulder

"Now, all those in favor of integrating Uchiha Itachi back into the Leaf Village?" Tsunade spoke

At first, Sakura, Naruto, and Neji were the only ones to raise their hands. Seeing Ino's father nod to the pair, raising his hand. Which had the rest of Ino's team's parents raise their hands, Naruto looked to Hinata who hadn't raised her hand yet. Seeing the internal battle that she was fighting. Seeing Hiashi come back in, standing behind his daughter. Looking at Sakura and his nephew, seeing a lift to one side of his lips raising his hand. More hands raised, causing Sakura to sigh in relief.

"We have our answer. This will not be easy on either of the Uchiha, as they are both missing nins. They will have to work their way back into the hearts of the villagers. As the Hokage, I will release a statement to our village and our lands about what has happened."

"Hokage, I am willing to assist with that," Hiashi spoke up, with several other heads of the village. This would aid in the fallout that Danzō had caused, and the cleanup would take years to fix.

"Very well. Next thing, clear from everything there is to be a war. Akatsuki versus our village, there has been an emergency Land Meeting. From what I've learned, Oro was killed." Hearing gasps entering the room, Sakura looked to Neji who was watching the Hokage. Turning back, "His followers either joined, were killed, or have scattered. They are of no threat anymore; we must decide what we are going to do."

"What do you think we should do?" One of the smaller clans asked

Tsunade sat softly; Sakura could see the age hitting her mentor. This was starting to happen often, her jutsu was no longer doing any good. If she was even using it anymore. "Kakashi has been doing the Hokage duties as you all know. Due to the mental toll of the last attack, I have not been back to full duties. I think it is time that I spent more time in the hospital, there are better warriors out there now. My skills could be better utilized elsewhere, Kakashi should be sworn in."

"Shishou?" Sakura started, not sure where else to go with it

"Sakura, you need to understand that the last battle cannot happen again. That is not how a Hokage should go down. The people should not be the ones protecting the Hokage, it is the Hokage's job to protect its people. Ninja, civilians, and those from other walks of life. It's time. Those in favor?" Cutting to the chase

Not something that Sakura could agree with, Neji held his hand up for her. This was not one of the layers she had anticipated on, not at all. It was settled that Kakashi would finish the process of taking over as Hokage, Naruto didn't seem upset by that notion at all.

"What are we doing with the prospect of war?" Shibi Aburame asked

"We just built back up. We can't let villagers be harmed; these people know about the hidden tunnels."

Watching the room sit in silence, not sure how to proceed. What could they do? They couldn't move mass populations, especially the quantities that they were talking about.

"We take the fight to them." Naruto spoke up, "Once we start heading to the west, there is little villages that are a lot easier to get to transfer to different positions. Most of them have moved due to the increase in the movement of Oro and Akatsuki. They want to fight us, why continue to cower from them? It's time to put an end to them, if we prepare, we can be ready. I know that the hospital has the necessary resources that can be moved." Sakura looked at her brother, surprised at the thought he'd put into this. Proud that he'd learned the land surrounding the village.

"Uzumaki makes an excellent point." Hiashi agreed, astonishing the room. "Take these next days to prepare, then move out. Cut them off at the pass, get our ninja back and give them the fight that they want."

"We'll show them what power really is. They have no idea just who they are messing with!" Naruto smiled, uniting the room

Hearing the door open, seeing Shizune walk in handing a scroll to Tsunade. Watching her read it. "We have the support of the Great Nations. It is settled, that as a united front we are going to end the Akatsuki."

"When are we going to be doing that?" Someone asked

"We'll leave in three days. From the data we've received, they are also gathering their ranks. Do what you must, Sakura I will deal with Ino and what is needed from the hospital. You ready yourself for the fight, this is one that you need to see through."

"Hai, shishou."

"Alright, that's all. Kakashi stay while we get everything changed over. At the end of this, we will do the formalities. Now is not the time for a party. Everyone else, you're dismissed."

Leaving, Sakura excused herself from the group before anyone could say anything. Going to get Itachi, and taking him to Hiashi's office. Knowing that she'd be there waiting, discussing that he'd be staying in the small house on the plot of land that was given to Sakura. Allowing him time to rest and do what he needed to ready himself. Excusing themselves to take him there, finding it fully stocked and whatever else he would need. She left him there before taking her leave, giving him another dose of medicine before leaving. Not wanting to be around anyone right now, needing time for herself. Going to the spot that gave her the solitude she sought, overlooking the village. Letting her legs swing, taking in the scenery and serenity that the village held.

Not sure how long she'd been sitting there, feeling the familiar presence. Surprised to feel him put his legs on either side of her, wrapping his arms around her waist and holding her. Not used to this, trying to relax leaning back on him. Taking this moment, they hadn't had many moments of intimacy. Not wanting to jeopardize the mission, so the slow they were talking about was slower than they both originally thought.

"What's going through that mind of yours?"

"There has been a lot to happen in the last year. With the impending war, I don't even know what to think. I'm nervous."

"That seems only natural going into this. If you weren't, I'd be more concerned. We'll go in there and do what we always do. Fight and defend our people."

"I don't want to lose anyone close to us. I don't want to lose you."

"I guess I'll have to make sure I have the pack my medic gave me, giving me every opportunity to come out alive."

Sighing, knowing that this was the way of the ninja life. "Just don't be too pompous, okay?"

"Okay." Sakura smiled, knowing he was just saying it to make her feel better

Sitting there for a while longer. "How did you know I was going to be here?"

"Just a hunch."

Laughing, "It's like the picture you took of me."

"You still have it." It was more of a statement than a question

"I'll always treasure it. You had no idea what I was going through, yet we met those few times. You didn't expect me to talk."

"Of course not, I didn't want to deal with your obnoxious comments." Neji laughed

"Hey!" Sakura gently elbowed him, "Who would have thought we'd be where we are now."

"Yeah. I didn't think I'd be with anyone."

Smiling, taking in the last of the sunset. "I didn't think I'd be with anyone either."

"You have Naruto to thank. He's the one to push for you to take a break."

"I'll have to treat him to ramen after all of this is done. That should be a good thank you."

Hearing Neji laugh, put a bigger smile on her face. "That's probably the best thank you, he will ever recieve." Nodding, "Should we head home?"

"Yeah, it's almost dinner time. We have lots of guests."

"I'm still one of those guests."

"No. You've been upgraded."

Standing with the aid of Neji, "Oh really? To what may I ask?"

"My girlfriend."

Putting her arms on his shoulders, "I still like the sound of that."

Seeing him smile, which was something rare. Even when they were alone, "Good because it's not going to change anytime soon."

Smiling back at him, taking his hand heading back to the house. Arriving back to the house with Itachi in tow being requested back, heading to the dining room.

Moving in, not surprised to see Naruto there. Sasuke on the other hand, that was surprising. Watching him stand moving to hug her and shake Neji's hand, then paused to see who was behind them. Not sure how this was going to go.

"Sasuke-Kun."

"Brother." Watching the corners of their lips curve slightly, Sakura smiled patting the boy's head as she walked by

Neji joined her, with the Uchiha's joining the table. With food at the table, Naruto and Sakura started to talk leading the conversation. Sakura would steer away asking her student how her training was going. Answering Naruto while listening to her student, amazing most at the table. Neji seemed to be the only one unfazed by the action.

"Sakura-chan, how the hell can you do that?"

Laughing, "It's just a talent."

"It came in handy while we were away," Neji spoke up, having not said anything

"How was your mission?" Sasuke asked, finding the perfect time to interject

"It was hard. Trying to keep all the information that we were getting straight without writing any of it down, avoiding trouble. Not having Naruto around helped that!" Sakura joked, hearing the protest. "Once we started getting close to the kunai is when it started the fights. It happened here and there. Some were close calls. There were times that we lost people in front of our eyes, but we couldn't do anything unless we'd risk blowing our cover." Explaining her feelings

"Sensei, can I ask you something?" Hanabi asked

"Of course."

"Being a medic, you feel obligated to save people, right?"

"Of course."

"How do you handle not being able to save people in those situations?"

Placing her utensils down, "To be honest, I still haven't found the right way to handle those situations. It is a part of being a kunoichi. You do what you have to for the mission, when the mission is over you have this bundle of-." Pausing trying to search for the right words

"A buildup of emotions, that some people use training to get out," Neji answered

"Some people eat and spend time with their family," Naruto spoke

"Meditate and finally gather everything to make sense," Hinata spoke

"Or some people close them out and finally snap. Needing to break." Sasuke answered surprising everyone

"You see Hanabi, everyone deals with it differently."

"How do you?"

Smiling softly looking down, "For a long time, I didn't deal with it. Letting it bottle, until I too snapped. This time, I took time to myself to center on what good I did. Rather than focus on the bad. There will always be bad times, you will always struggle. Without that struggle, you can never appreciate the good you feel. Even if it is something small. It sounds cheesy as hell. Respecting those that fell, knowing that they helped to bring justice back to the village. That is something I can respect, honor, and push to do better for next time. Knowing two men are going to jail, all the bad that happened the good that comes from it can keep pushing me forward." Sitting in silence, watching her student nod taking in the information

"Wow, Sakura-chan," Naruto spoke mocking her

"You've been spending too much time with the dobe," Sasuke spoke up, causing the room to laugh, lightening the mood

"Just because I grew up and you two are still acting like adolescents, doesn't give you the right to mock me!" Defending herself

"We're adolescents? I don't even know what that means but I'm sure it's not nice Sakura-chan!"

Bursting out laughing with Hinata, "It means kid, stupid." Hanabi muttered under her breath, which had the two girls laugh harder

Neji smirked, holding Sakura's hand that had fallen on his in her laughing fit. "I knew it wasn't nice! I'm not a kid! After Kakashi-sensei is done being the Hokage, I'm going to take his place and be the best Hokage this village has ever seen!"

"You might want to brush up on your vocabulary then you dunderhead," Hanabi spoke up, finishing her meal

Naruto glared at the younger child, letting the bickering commence. The group of them enjoying picking on each other, for once feeling lighthearted. The only two not participating were Itachi and Hiashi. Once the food had long been finished, Hiashi stood.

"Hurano-san, may I have a moment of your time?"

Nodding, standing with the elder. Following him out of the dining room, out to the compound's many walkways. Taking in the night, waiting for the elder to start the conversation.

"Did you have time to read the scrolls I had given you?" He finally asked

"I did."

"Should I assume you are curious about what happened?"

"You could say that. I'd also like to know what or how this situation should be brought up to Neji. This wasn't something either of us anticipated, or thought could happen. Does that mean the seal is gone?"

"You have not looked?"

Shaking her head, "On missions, he never takes the bandages off. If he does, it is when he is in the bathroom. He makes it a point to not look in mirrors or reflective surfaces if he can."

"I see. This should be brought up to him, as this releases him from the duties of being a subject of the main family. This is the first case of this. Possibly the first of many, many of the branch families have wished to marry outside of the Hyuga line. For the children that do not hold the Kekki Genki, Hinata has made it clear that she wishes they do not receive the seal. Time is moving forward, things are changing. The old ways of doing things are no longer being accepted as is."

Curiosity was moving her, "Why are you telling me this Hiashi-san?" Seeing an almost smile

"Because you, Hinata, Neji, and Naruto are the next generation. My daughter is going to need someone that will support her."

"Neji and I will always be there to support her. Just as Naruto will be. He isn't the smartest, but he has a will that no one can match. I've seen it time and again, if Hinata needs the support he'll do everything he can to make it happen."

"That is good to hear."

"You're being awfully vague."

"I've told you; times are changing. To ensure that the clan will remain strong, a leader must adapt and grow."

Laughing softly, "Can I say something without you reprimanding me?" Having him looking over at her, nodding to him. "The old people of this village sometime confuse the hell out of me."

Hearing him chuckle, "One day, you will be one of those old people."

"Time will only tell. We have a war coming, nothing is ever concrete in war." Sakura spoke

"I've kept you long enough with that topic, go spend time with your friends. I would speak with Neji alone tonight. Have a good night" Hiashi spoke

Nodding, "Alright, arigotō. Have a good night."

Bowing to her elder, making her way back to the house. Not ready for the conversation that was going to be had.

(It was a long one! Hopefully, that is okay. Plus, it is a couple days late as I went to see a local play this weekend for a friend! Hopefully, you had some good weekend plans (Even if it was staying home!). Anyway, I hope you have a great day, stay safe, and until next time which is going to be the second to last time for this story (can you believe it?)~DQ)

(P.S. There are some parts that seem cheesy to me, hopefully they're not too bad and don't make you shy away!)
