"Maddy, run! He has a gun!"

Maddox didn't run. She pulled out her phone and snapped a picture of the license plate as the car drove off. Maddox had watched too much crime TV to skip over that detail. The next thing she did was call the cops.

"Did you see the person's face?" an officer asked.

"I didn't," Maddox responded. "He was turned away from me."

"It was smart of you to get the license plate," the cop said. "We can do a lot with this information. Do you know anyone who could do this? Like, did Ms. Caswell have any enemies?"

"None that I knew of," Maddox stated. "She wasn't involved in many conflicts. Ash certainly doesn't know anyone who would do anything like this."

"The Caswells are quite an affluent family," the cop said. "We're going to talk to Ashlyn's parent's thing. We'll keep you updated if we hear anything or find anything. Please give us a call if you remember anything."

"Thank you," Maddox responded. The officers then left the house. Big Red hadn't moved a muscle throughout the questioning. Big Red didn't see anything since he was still in the basement, so an extensive interrogation of him wouldn't be necessary. He only knew what happened when Maddox came back in, screaming. He had never heard her make such a loud noise before.

"You should go home," Mrs. Redonvich said. "Your parents are probably worried."

"I called them," Maddox said.

"Our neighbors have porch cameras," Mrs. Redonvich explained. "Maybe we can get the footage from them."

"I should've walked her out," Big Red said. His voice sounded broken. His mom placed a hand on his shoulder.

"You couldn't have known this was going to happen," Mrs. Redonvich said. "Things like this don't happen in our neighborhood. Ashlyn is going to be okay. Having the license plate and the crime was reported right after it happened. That makes the chances of her coming back alive a lot higher. They couldn't have done too much damage by now."

On the other side of town, another person called the cops about a disturbance. They heard screams and whimpers from another house. Two officers arrived at the house, which now appeared to be empty.

They didn't find anyone in the house. However, they got greeted by the stench of blood. When they turned on their flashlights, they saw words painted on the walls. However, their noses told them another story.

'The Caswells end tonight.'
