AN: Hi, everyone! Sorry for the long overdue chapter! I'm just settling into my new home and getting things situated with it and rewatching the movie, so I can work out the story! Hope you enjoy!
The Beginning
Chapter 2
After a while of sitting in my car, I decided to head to the house to change clothes for Nicky's. As I was driving, I got a severe, painful headache. I went to press on the brakes, to pull over, but they weren't working. I pressed harder, but nothing. I felt it. The Power being used against me. I flashed my eyes and fought it. Something in my wheels caught on the road, snatched my car, causing me to go into the ditch and into a tree. I could've swore, I heard someone yell angrily. I groaned and leaned back in my seat. The headache went away quickly. I heard tires screech outside on the road.
"Oh, goodness! Hank! Hank! Call an ambulance! Honey? Miss? Hank! Help with the door!" A woman yelled. I looked over and saw an older lady and her husband. My door creaked open and the lady popped her head in.
"Oh sweetheart! Hank, give me a napkin!" She gasped. She pressed something to my head. I hissed and groaned.
"Ambulance is on its way. What happened up there darling?" The man said coming to view. I looked at him then the road. I sighed and leaned back in the seat.
"I'm not sure." I mumbled. Soon enough, cops were pulling up and so was an ambulance. I was escorted to the ambulance to be looked over.
"Miss Danvers, can you explain to me again, what happened today?" The Chief asked me.
"I was headed home. I got a massive, painful headache, I went to press on my brakes to pull over, but they weren't working. I felt something catch in my wheels and it snatched me into the ditch and I crashed." I explained to him. He nodded and wrote it down.
"How're her injuries?" He asked the paramedic.
"Couple stitches to the forehead and possible a fracture in her right wrist." He told him.
"I don't want to go to the hospital. I want to go home." I said to the chief. He sighed and looked at the paramedic, who shrugged.
"Well, we can't force you. So, we can let you go into the care of your brother when he gets here. But I strongly recommend you get looked at by a doctor." He said nodding.
"Thanks, but I'll be fine." I told him. He sighed.
"Bella! Bella!" I heard someone yell. I saw Caleb running up to us.
"Bella? Hey. Are you okay? What happened? Chief, what happened?" He asked panting.
"I have someone looking at her car now, son. We'll call you or your mother with any update. Your sister is refusing to go to the hospital, so she is free to go home with you." The chief told him.
"Bells." He said sighing.
"I'm fine, Caleb. Really. Can we please just go?" I said sliding down. He nodded and put his arm around me. We started walking to the car when I overheard the mechanic with my car.
"Her brake line was cut, chief. It wrapped around the wheel and yanked the car. Someone intentionally tried to hurt her." The mechanic told the chief. I froze and stopped in my steps. Caleb looked down at me worriedly.
"Bells? What is it?" He asked.
"Let's get to your car." I said nodding. We walked over and got in. It was a quiet but tense ride.
"What happened out there?" He asked. I looked at my hands.
"Someone used on me. I felt it. Whoever it was, caused me to get a massive headache, and when I tried to pull over, I couldn't stop. After I crashed, I heard someone yell angrily. Someone tampered with my brake line, from what the mechanic told the chief." I told him. His hands tightened on the steering wheel.
"Who would do that?" He asked.
"I don't know." I said shaking my head.
"We don't use on each other, Bells. You know that." He said sighing.
"It wasn't one of our screams. It was someone else's. I'm not sure who's though." I said sniffling.
"Bells, you've been gaining powers over the last few months. Could it be. Could it be your imagination?" He said looking at me. I scoffed and shook my head.
"Yeah. Yeah, cause my powers are causing a mental break in me, Caleb. I guess. I guess my imagination caused the darkling's to pop up around us too, huh?" I snapped.
"It's probably Reid messing around." He scoffed.
"Oh yeah. Cause Reid would kill someone innocent, just to mess around. Nice way to show your support to our friends." I scoffed sarcastically. He was quiet for a few minutes.
"Did you mess with your brake line?" He asked as we pulled into the driveway.
"What? Why would I do that?" I asked him.
"Attention. With Sarah being the new girl, all eyes are on her. You must have known I was with her when I got the phone call. With her being here, there's no attention on you." He said parking in his spot. I flinched at his words.
"Wow. She must have you whipped, big brother. To think, your own sister, would cause a wreck just to get attention. That's low. Even for you. Go to Hell, Caleb." I snapped. I got out of the car and slammed his door. I stormed inside and went up to my room. I slammed the door and sunk against it. I was angry with my brother, and I have never been. I took some pain reliever and went to take a shower. I dressed in some jeans, tank top, my leather jacket, and ankle boots. I did my makeup light and did my hair to cover up the stitches on my head. My phone rung on my nightstand. I went over and picked it up.
"Hello?" I asked answering it.
"Hey baby girl. Headed to Nicky's, want a ride?" Tyler asked. I unplugged the phone and headed downstairs.
"Yes. Please." I said sighing. Caleb was leaned against the stairs with his arms crossed.
"Alright. We'll be there in a bit. Meet us at the gates." He said.
"Will do. Thank you, Tyler." I said walking around Caleb.
"No problem, baby girl." He said hanging up. I headed into the kitchen for a drink.
"So, what? You're just going to ignore me the rest of the night?" Caleb asked following me. I grabbed a soda and opened it. I looked Caleb dead in his eyes.
"Not just for the rest of the night, for the rest of our time together, until you go off to college, where I don't have to see you anymore." I snapped at him. I shoved passed him, grabbed my purse and walked out of the house. I knew it was a bit harsh but I was angry with him. Reid and Tyler pulled up just as I walked out of the gates. I smiled and jumped in.
"You okay? Caleb, told us about your wreck." Reid said looking back.
"I'm fine. Let's go." I said sitting back in the seats. Tyler nodded and drove off. I hung around them once we got to Nicky's. Reid and Tyler were playing Aaron and Bordy in pool. A while later Caleb, Sarah, Kate, and the new kid chase walked in. not long after Pogue walked up to us.
"How long have you guys been here? Baby girl." He said shaking hands with the guys. He came over and kissed my cheek. He lifted my hair slightly and raised his eyebrow. I nodded and pushed his hand away.
"Reid and Tyler are playing against Bordy and Aaron." I said nodding to them.
"Is that right?" He asked sighing.
"We've been here a bit. Would you look at that." Reid said grinning. He motioned across the bar at Ginger.
"Blue, cotton." Reid said slamming down the money.
"Pink, lace." Tyler said humming in approval. Pogue slammed down his money.
"Boys, that girl hasn't wore panties since she was 12." He said. Reid used and they all groaned as her skirt went up revealing nothing. I chuckled as Pogue took their money.
"Thanks, gentlemen. Baby girl, our little secret." He said handing me a bill. I winked at him as he walked off to the bar. I laughed and hopped down off my seat.
"Should've known better, guys." I said laughing. Aaron and I flirted around, mostly it was me distracting him for Reid and Tyler's sake on the games. Reid made a bet against Aaron that he couldn't do a combo shot. Reid used and sunk in the balls. Once Reid took the money, he blew a kiss at Aaron, which pissed Aaron off.
"Aaron, don't." I said softly. He ignored me and shoved Reid. Tyler grabbed my arm and pulled me back behind him. Reid shoved Aaron back. Then a whole fight started out. We walked outside to the alley.
"He made the shot dickhead. You bet him he couldn't and he did." Tyler told Aaron and Bordy.
"We ain't paying you shit, so if you don't like it." Bordy started. Caleb and Pogue walked out then.
"What's the problem?" Caleb snapped.
"None of your damn business." Aaron snapped back.
"He bet I couldn't make a combo shot, and I did." Reid said proudly.
"Everyone just forget it about it, okay?" Caleb said staring down Reid.
"Saint Caleb to the rescue, again. Keep on and you'll have an award soon." I said sarcastically. He glared at me. Nicky walked out with his bat.
"Hey! Take it someplace else, ladies. Now!" He told us. None of us moved.
"Whatever you say, Nicky." Aaron said. He shoved past Caleb then stopped at me.
"You coming back in?" He asked me. I looked at Caleb then back at Aaron.
"Yeah, I will be in a minute." I said nodding. He kissed me lightly then walked inside with the others. Once the door shut Caleb turned on Reid and Tyler.
"What were you thinking?" He asked Reid.
"We were just playing them." Reid scoffed.
"Yeah, come on Caleb, they were suckers for it." Tyler argued. Redi got closer to Caleb.
"Why don't you quit being such a pussy?" He asked. Caleb's hand grabbed Reid's left shoulder tightly. I groaned and winced. Being the only girl born in 400 years meant I got the horrible power of feeling when one of the guys got hurt.
"I'm not finished with you yet." Caleb told him. Reid twisted Caleb's arm tightly. I flinched as I felt it.
"Reid, stop." Caleb gasped.
"Guys, stop." I told them. Caleb turned his eyes black and flung Reid back into the kegs. He hit the building behind him. I leaned against the wall as my back ached.
"What is it gonna take for you to get it? Its addictive, you moron! You've seen what it can do if you abuse it. You want that? That's your business. But if you use in the open, like you did tonight, you risk exposing us all. And that I won't let happen." Caleb told Reid. Reid stood up and levitated a keg.
"My power is greater than yours." Caleb said.
"Not until you ascend." Reid growled.
"Alright go for it tough guy." Caleb pushed him. Reid threw the keg, ran out as Caleb pushed it away, then Caleb used on Reid and threw him into the beer bottle tower. I felt every little prick of glass from Reid's body.
"Reid!" I gasped. Tyler and I ran to him.
"Stop it! This is crazy!" Pogue argued with Caleb.
"It's for his own good! Keep using like you did tonight and last night, when you ascend you'll be good as dead." Caleb snapped. Tyler and I helped Reid out of the glass.
"So, I fixed her car! Big deal!" Reid argued.
"Don't play me, Reid! I'm talking later and you know it!" Caleb snapped.
"The hell I do! I didn't use later." Reid growled in Caleb's face. He shoved passed him and walked inside Nicky's.
"It's not right using on each other, Caleb." Tyler told him.
"Oh, tell it to Reid." He scoffed. Tyler walked inside. I looked at Pogue and Caleb.
"You're both idiots if you believe Reid is behind all of this." I said walking off. I went back inside and dusted off Reid's back. Aaron dropped me off at home. I went upstairs to pack a bag to stay somewhere else. I noticed a dark edge on my right wrist. I pulled up my sleeve and gasped. I had a bruise from where Reid grabbed Caleb. I looked at my back and saw the bruises from Caleb throwing Reid. I grabbed my bag and went downstairs.
"Where are you going?" Caleb asked as he came in.
"You don't need to worry about that." I told him.
"You're my sister. I have the right to worry." He said sighing.
"No, you don't. I'll see you at school tomorrow." I said walking past him. I stopped at the door and turned to him.
"Oh, and while we are at school, you can act like you don't know me there. I'm fine with that." I said. I turned around and slammed the door shut as I walked out. I got in the other car we had. Mother never used it, so I was taking it. I drove over to Pogue's place and went up. I knocked and he opened the door.
"Caleb told me everything. Come on." He said nodding me in. He shut the door and I went to the spare room he had. I dropped my stuff off, kicked off my shoes and went to sit on the couch.
"Kate and I are fighting." He said sitting beside me.
"About?" I asked.
"Chase. I don't know, Bells. I get this weird feeling about him." He said shaking his head. I looked down at my hands.
"You too, huh?" I asked.
"Somethings up with him and I don't know what." He scoffed. I nodded.
"Just don't let him come between you and Kate. You two are great together." I said nudging his shoulder. He laughed and pulled me into his side. We talked a while longer then went to bed. I felt it again. Someone using. I jolted upright in bed, gasping. I sighed and rubbed my face. I froze. Someone was standing beside the bed. I looked up and it was the darkling again. I screamed and fell out of bed trying to get away from it. I felt a burning sensation as he reached forward. Pogue ran in and froze as he saw the darkling then it disappeared. Once he unfroze he ran to me.
"Bella! Bella? Hey. Hey. I got you. It's okay." He said hugging me tightly. He picked me up and moved us to his room. He got us situated and called Caleb.
"I just saw the same darkling as you did last night. The dead kid at the Dells. What the hell is it?" Pogue asked.
"I don't know. It's starting to freak me out. I'm telling you someone is using powers and I mean big time. And I intend to find out who." I heard Caleb say. Pogue looked down at me and rubbed my arm.
"It can't be Reid or Tyler." He said.
"No, it's someone else." Caleb said sighing. They hung up and I curled into Pogue's chest.
AN: BELLA AND POGUE ARE JUST FRIENDS IN THIS STORY! NOTHING MORE! Bella and Pogue have always been close, tried dating but it didn't work out cause Kate came along and Pogue fell in love with her.
