Chapter 40: Revival

Sitting beside Kakashi I frowned seeing Sakura's hands over Gaara but the look on her face told me that he was already gone. Seeing her shake her head I felt tears begin to build up in my eyes having held them in for so long. Gripping the grass tightly below me I looked down hearing her stand up and walk away from him. He didn't deserve this… none of the Jinchuriki did and yet they were hunted and hated for what was inside them, it just wasn't fair.

"Why Gaara… why did you have to die." I heard Naruto say weakly feeling the tears begin to fall as Chiyo said, "Calm down Naruto."

"I won't calm down!" he yelled keeping my head down as he said, "If you sand shinobi hadn't put a monster inside of him none of this would have happened. He didn't deserve what happened to him even though he just became the Kazekage. Did you even think to ask how he felt about it?!"

I went to try and stand as he began shaking saying softer, "Jinchuriki my butt… you have no right to act so selfishly by labeling us with that word you created."

Limping over to Naruto I threw my arms around him knowing he needed the comfort feeling my shoulder begin to become soaked, but I didn't care. He gently put his arms around me as I held him tighter letting him cry as I looked down at Gaara behind him feeling my tears fall freely too.

"I can't save Sasuke and now I can't save Gaara..." he began to mumble cry into my shoulder hearing him say, "I trained so hard for three years and nothing has changed in three years."

Hearing footsteps behind me I saw Chiyo walk by as Naruto let go of me, all of us watching as she kneeled beside Gaara. I suddenly saw a bright glow of blue chakra emit from her hands onto his chest as the wind picked up around her seeing Sakura look concerned.

"Granny Chiyo that jutsu will..." she began stopping as Chiyo looked at her seeing a knowing look in her eyes as I stared down at her hands wondering what was going on.

"What are you trying to do?" I asked concerned as I heard Guy behind me say, "Is that?"

"Yea..." Kakashi said sadly seeing Naruto go to take a step forward saying, "What the hell are you doing?"

Sakura stopped him from getting any closer as she frowned sadly towards Naruto, but my eyes went back to focus on what she was doing.

"Sakura..." Naruto asked concerned as she said confidently, "She's going to bring Gaara back to life."

"Is such a thing even possible?" I asked softly looking down at them hearing Sakura say, "This Jutsu is special that only Granny Chiyo can do."

I saw her begin to struggle seeing her chakra glow began to die down watching Naruto walk over to the opposite side of her putting his hands out, "You can use my Chakra, is that something that's possible?"

"Place your hands on top of mine." she said gently seeing chakra burst from their hands as soon as he had them placed on hers.

His face etched in determination despite getting his chakra taken I knew he wouldn't give up, I only wished I had more to give.

"Amongst this Shinobi world created by us foolish old people… I'm glad that a person like you has shown up." she said hearing her voice slightly weaker seeing her look down at Gaara saying, "The things I did in the past were nothing but mistakes but in my last hour, it seems I'll finally be able to do the right thing."

Seeing her look up with a smile she said, "The Hidden Sand and the Hidden Leaf… the future is going to be different from the way things were before. Your mysterious power Kakashi spoke of I believe it will alter the future greatly when you become Hokage like none before."

Smiling towards them I heard her say, "Yuna, you put your life on the line to save us all and I believe will one day be even greater than your teacher."

Looking over to Kakashi he smiled at me making me smile back as Chiyo said, "And Sakura… next time help the person you cherish most, not an old lady with one foot in the graveyard. You are very much like me, there are not many women that have a man's courage and I know you'll surpass your master one day too."

Looking over at her I saw tears begin to fall down her face as I placed a comforting hand on her shoulder knowing this was going to be her final goodbye.

"Naruto, I have one favor to ask you… you are the one and only person of knowing the extent of Gaara's pain and he knows your pain too. Please, help Gaara." she said seeing Naruto look down before closing his eyes in concentration.

Hearing movement all around us I saw dozens of Sand Shinobi gather to see their Kazekage including Temari and Kankuro. We watched anxiously seeing shallow breathing start to appear against his chest as Naruto smiled slowly bringing Gaara to a sitting position.

Watching Gaara's eyes open he looked around surprised noticing everyone gathered around relived faces appearing throughout the crowd as he said groggily, "What's this?"

Naruto smiled warmly saying, "Everyone came running to help you."

Hearing footsteps someone yelled, "Gaara-sensei you're alright!"

Turning my eyes widened it was the little girl from years ago we helped Gaara save seeing him nod surprised. Everyone in the crowed began cheering happily from his village as I wiped away tears of happiness that snuck past my defense.

Falling to the ground beside him he said quietly, "Yuna..."

Smiling wide I wrapped my arms tightly around him feeling him tense up saying, "It's good to see you again Gaara."

"Putting us all to this trouble." Naruto joked as I let go seeing Temari also kneeling beside us with Kankuro walking closer saying, "Good grief you're such a bothersome little brother making us worry like that."

"What's wrong with you guys acting arrogant like that!?" Temari began to berate them finishing with, "Gaara is the Kazekage after all. Stop being so disrespectful you're nothing but subordinates."

Naruto glared at her, but she pushed past him asking how Gaara was feeling realizing that Chiyo wasn't beside us anymore. Looking over some of the crowd Sakura had her in her arms seeing the sadness in her eyes.

I walked over to them putting my hand on Sakura's as she tried not to cry saying softly, "I'm sorry… "

Not saying anything she held her closer while Temari started talking about her and how she had changed so much in just meeting Naruto.

I could see Naruto helping Gaara up while they walked towards us as he said, "Let us all pray for Granny Chiyo."

Bowing our heads, we all closed our eyes saying our own silent prayer for Chiyo knowing that she would find peace in the afterlife. I also made a silent promise to myself to never let the ones I love get taken or die without fighting my all till the end.

Sorry for the super short chapter, been super sick so haven't been writing much.
