That is when Aika glared at Kimito and told him he has no idea how it feels to be so openly judged and the pain of people considering her less than they are, she complained to him to her heart's content everything from social pressure to having people set such high expectations of her that she was afraid of failing and looking bad.
Kimito didn't say a word, he listened to everything she said, till she was done, and then he figured it was his turn, "I am no commoner, I am the crown prince of a powerful empire, that spans an entire galaxy, I have so much pressure it could turn coal into a diamond faster than it takes for someone to prepare instant noodles."
Kimito looked at her, "One of the other princes is a sage, another became an admiral at the age most people finish high school, and another one is a transdimensional deity, I will tell you again, it doesn't matter how many times you make a mistake, as long as you get up and try again, always remember the one that in the end the one that is judging you the harshest it is more than likely yourself. Friends, family, people that care and love you can make the toughest climb seem like a picnic."
She looked at him and asked him what would he do if he had a problem and didn't know what to do, so Kimito told her that if he didn't know something and knew someone else did, he would ask, if he couldn't do something by himself or didn't know how he would ask for help, to admit that he was not perfect and that there were things that he couldn't do, and to grow from his own mistakes.
"You want to be the most popular girl in this school so everyone likes you, but that is not what will make you happy there are always people who no matter what you do want nothing to do with you, those that are afraid to be hurt, and those that hurt to make others feel their pain, to be the most popular shouldn't be your goal, instead get to know them, get them to trust you and thus when everyone is a good friend of yours being popular is just an afterthought. So what is the problem? Why don't you try to become their friend?"
Aika simply looked at Kimito and told him she doesn't know how to make friends, or more specifically she doesn't remember how to do that, to which Kimito did something that would be talked about by every student that watched, which of course was all girls. He bowed and extended his hand toward her, "I am Kimito Masaki Tatsuki Jurei, and I ask you Aika will you grant me the honor of being your friend?" She of course did the same thing, "I am Aika Tenkuubashi, and I gladly become friends with you Kimito Masaki Tatsuki Jurei."
As she said this Kimito walked forwards and taking her extended hand he began to shake her hands with his, she looked a bit embarrassed and flustered at the mere touch of a boy, but as soon as it is over, Kimito told him this was called a handshake, a form of greeting among people that even commoners practice, and with this handshake, their friendship is thereby established. "Accepting friends is as you can see a rather easy thing to do, being a good friend to each other is where things can get difficult but as long as you treat your friend as you would have that friend treat you having a friend is a great joy in life."
He looked at her, "Alright, and as a friend let me help you with your jump. first, you are focusing too much on how it should look, but like everything in life, the way you actually land depends on the individual, how much practice they have, and how fast they ran before they jumped. Now I want you to run like like your life depends on it, as fast as possible, ignore everything else other than where you are supposed to jump, when you reach it jump as high as possible while running."
Aika looked at Kimito clearly listening, "Now any part of your body that is in motion as you jump stay in motion do not stop swinging your arms and legs, and when you are about to land you want to land in the least painful manner possible, in case of beginners that are going to be landing on your rear. You are light which means you should be able to do some pretty decent speeds, and that means it is all a math problem, the faster and higher you jump the longer your jump will be."
Kimito tried to limit himself to what a normal human could do, and as he ran down he jumped, sure enough, he kept his motion, and when it came time he landed on his butt. "See something like this. Now you try and don't be afraid of making mistakes rather learn from them. Like any sport, if you work hard enough and put enough effort into it, you will be able to do a very good long jump if you really try."
Aika took his advice to heart and as she ran down she put as much speed as she could get by going through a very fast stride, and as he said ignore the people watching focus on the track and that little white mark on the track and as she reached the marked she jumped up as high as possible and sure enough it felt like she was both jumping and running, till she could see the ground coming and she shifted her legs to land on her butt.
She impressed everyone with how far her second long jump had been. "Always remember friends help each other, a friend in need is a friend indeed. Now if you have any problems be sure to tell me and your friends, if they are truly your friends they will be happy to help you." Unknown to him many of the girls who were there actually listened to his advice, and they each tried their best to improve as best they could, long jump is a competitive sport after all.
A small group of girls became friends with Aika that day and for the most part, she was happier because of it, she knew that getting to know them and becoming friends was more than just showing off popularity, it was an emotional connection between people, one that could be both very good and had the potential of making both people happy, but he did warn her that some people will want to be friends only to see how much they can get from her, so always remember to treat others as you would have them treat you.
As his class day was nearing an end he wanted to have a meal at the cafeteria, Kimito was particularly hungry and thus wondered what in the world could he eat that will sate his hunger, to which Reiko told him that there is no need to worry, since apparently, the entire female student body was planning a large feast to welcome Kimito to the school.
So she told him to follow her and she would guide him to the dining room they had prepared for the party, upon entering he saw his childhood friend still very much dressed as a maid, and every person waited to hear what exactly would Kimito ask from the immense menu that they had to pick from. This school was a school for future heiresses of industry and political power, so the menu included food choices from all over the world, and what was crazy is that it was all free.
Kimito if he had anything to complain about the menu was that when Miyuki asked him what he wanted to eat he felt curious about why they had menu choices in the names of countries instead of having a selection of dishes that were prepared and eaten in those countries, so since he was in Japan, he chose the Japanese menu option, and what he received was something that filled him is rage, the food that was presented to him that was the food that Japanese eat was instant ramen.
Tenchi and even Seina told him of instant ramen, hell living at the Mazaki family home he ate some of it, and even Washu told him that it was pretty much mass-produced and made so cheap that even a child could buy it with his or her allowance. The reason for his rage was that he knew for certain that Japan had many types of food and many delicious dishes, to reduce the country's culinary pallet to just instant ramen was an insult.
"Excuse me Kimito, but what is that? We have never seen anything like it." Kimito controlling his anger looked at Reiko and realized that the girls were honestly curious so he told them, that this is a cup of noodles that was packaged and prepared so that anyone only needed to add hot water and wait a little time and the noodles would be ready to eat.
Of course hearing this every girl in the party asked for the Japanese Choice as they each were given a cup of their own, they asked Kimito to show them how to prepare and eat this strange new dish, so he did, he got his cup opened a small portion of the lid and poured hot water into it, and then he closed the lid and waited the exact time that the very same package had mentioned in the instructions on the very lid of the cup.
Reiko took a look at the plates and decided that this wonderous culinary experience should be done on their finest china, so new bowls and extremely expensive utensils were brought to them to replace the ones that they had before, but this made no sense to Kimito since what they had before was actually extremely ornate and looked finely crafted, no commoner would ever own them.
As they were ready they spilled the contents of the cup into their vowels as Kimito told them to be careful that the water was still hot, and not to get burned by it. They did as he did and soon every girl present was seen eating their noodles with gusto, some commented about how the cup had all the seasonings and even garnish already in the cup, and some were actually loving the taste of it, to Kimito it makes no sense that they would be enjoying something that basically costs less than a cup of coffee.
Kimito however could not let them continue with the misunderstanding, that they were eating food that commoners from Japan ate, "I can't let this error continue if I can have your attention, but I have to first tell you that the food you just ate is a Japanese adaptation of a Chinese dish, noodle soup, but that also means it is not a commoner food but rather a common one, there are many varieties of this recipe in many nations around the world. Hence it is something that people have in common, it is like bread, and salads, in every country in the world you will find several recipes that can be called as being one of the ones I mentioned."
He looked at them and tried to smile, "It is also like saying french fries are something that was created and invented in France when in reality they are from Belgium, and the only reason people called it French Fries is because the American soldiers during the first world war were introduced to the food by people of Belgium that spoke french as it is a common language in that country."
Everyone looked at their plates and realized that if they misunderstood this dish to be Japanese there might be other dishes that they could learn where they actually came from, it was something very interesting to some of the girls present. "As to this being food that commoners eat, it is not entirely correct, this is food that more often than not poor people eat, since it is so cheap, for a single cup of coffee at a coffee shop, a person can buy half a dozen to twenty of this cups, for the price of a single cup of coffee."
They were shocked, "But it was so delicious, how can it be that poor people eat such delicious food?" Kimito told her that it was all in part of something that is called marketing, the low cost and flavor made it quite popular with the poor and those who were having barely enough food to survive, in fact, this sort of cup is also eaten by college students who barely survive due to the high cost of being a student in a university.
"You can make a meal out of it, but you need to add a few other things to make the meal feel satisfying, to say that each nation has one dish however is a painful simplification, each country had many dishes, and many of those dishes are influenced and inspired by the dishes of other countries, I can tell you of dozens of delicious dishes that mothers and fathers make for their children in Japanese homes. So keep in mind that as extensive as the menu you have is, it is by far not complete."
He took hold of the menu and held it up for everyone to see the folder with the list of foods they can order, "And this only contains a minor number of dishes that exist, people have studied the culinary arts and never been able to say they have learned every single recipe, and that is only on Earth, that is not even considering what people on other planets eat."
That is when one of them said that it was impossible to consider since there was no life on any other planet, to which Kimito told her that was not true at all, there are hundreds if not thousands of planets that not only held life but had their own languages, cultures, and traditions, which of course include religions and cuisine. As the future Emperor of Jurai, he was very much aware of every planet that is part of the Empire. Granted quite a few of the dishes from the other planets can't be cooked here because the necessary ingredients do not exist in this world.
One of them asked him a question to prove that he was just making stuff up and asked him if he had a spaceship, and much to her shock Kimito actually told her that indeed he has a spaceship, and his ship could travel from Earth to Pluto and back again in less than an hour. However, he is forbidden to share technological or scientific knowledge with a planet that is still very much in development. That is under the Unified Planet Protection Act, which limits him from sharing advanced research or knowledge.
"So you really are an alien crown prince, I honestly thought it was a strange commoner custom to try and make yourself sound cool." Kimito was quick to tell the girl that yes, he is the crown prince and the Jurai Empire's territory reaches most of the known galaxy, which includes Earth since their military has protected Earth against criminals that would have otherwise done horrible things to the planet and the people.
"So I will say this again, while I appreciate this kind gesture of trying to make me feel welcomed, I need to remind you, at the end of the day, I am a member of royalty, I might know more about common practices and knowledge thanks to my uncles, but if you wanted an example of extraterrestrial life, well here I am."
The girls present began to laugh and Kimito honestly wondered if they will ever truly understand that he was not making a joke as they think but actually being openly honest with them. These girls were absolutely oblivious to what is going on in the world around them. It was common knowledge that the planet Earth had joined the Jurai Empire and everything he told them was things that everyone knew except the girls in the school.
The thing is everyone knew that Earth was part of the Juraian Empire, it was strange since the Emperor has appeared on several news channels explaining the potential danger of a new outbreak or the reason why a sector of space was quarantined. But he simply chucked it up to them lacking common sense, as the meal came to an end, and everyone present was given much food for thought he decided to go to his room and go to sleep getting ready for another painful day in class.
Why was it painful? Because he had to stand and listen to the teacher explain things that were so obvious that it was actually causing Kimito a headache. Common sense things, every person in the galaxy would wonder how bad the education on Earth was if this was the only example of what Earth's Education was.
He was taught science and math by the most prolific scientist in the galaxy, and he learned politics and economy from one of the daughters of the emperor, home economics and cooking from the other daughter, martial arts and physical education from the daughter of the scientist that had been teaching him, and to make matters worse writing and literature by not one but three of the galaxy's most acclaimed authors.
Anything he learned in this school so far had been the water-down version of things he learned a couple of years ago, and to make matters worse the girls constantly asked him questions about how commoners live or questions about traveling through space. During lunch, he decided to take a small chance and try to relax by doing a small walk around the campus, until he saw a young woman who was clearly doing graffiti on the school property, but to make matters worse she seemed to be taking all her clothes off while she did that.
"Look you can't write on school property that is what some consider defacing and damaging school property and thus it can be considered a crime, so come on, get dressed, and I can help you try to explain this to the school director, maybe you can avoid getting punished." She looked at him with an innocent look on her face and told him that she didn't know how to get dressed.
This was begging for someone to find her and cause a major incident if someone saw her the way she was, it would make people think that he was either a rapist, a molester, or at best a pervert, so with a quick motion of his arm he picked her and all the clothes she took off and ran towards his dorm room.
Once she was inside he quickly got to work to get her dressed again, except that while he was doing that, he heard this growling and that is when he saw her blushing face, "So you are hungry, no problem, I think I got something here that will take no time at all to prepare." He took one of his cups of instant ramen from his food pantry and prepared it for her.
She was about to protest and tell him that she could only eat things that were written on a specific schedule to which Kimito told her that he didn't have that schedule and not to worry, she is hungry so she might as well try it and see if she likes it. Reluctantly the young woman began to eat her noodles until she asked what he was eating and he told her it was reheated curry rice. To which she asked if she could have a taste of that.
Hearing her say that he split his serving of curry rice into two and gave her half which she was happy to eat. "Very well, after you are done eating I will take you to your dorm room, just to make sure nothing bad happens to you." She asked him why was he willing to do so much for her when he had no obligation to do that, to which Kimito smiled and told her simply because it is the right thing to do.
That is when she finally decided to introduce herself, "I am Hakua Shiodome, some times when I work and my mind gets flooded with ideas my body starts to move by itself and I end up naked, as to why I didn't know how to dress, it is because I have never done it before, everything from my clothes to what I eat has been chosen for me since the day I was born."
"I must thank you for sharing with me your food, what can I possibly do to repay your help and kindness" Kimito simply told her to be his friend that is the only thing he could think of, but remembering what he saw she wrote down it seems it was math equations dealing with energy production. The level of technology on this planet is nowhere near what Washu has invented, then again who can match the literal goddess of wisdom.
The fact is that he was quite fortunate to have her tutor him, even though at the time it was such a pain that he didn't want to even remember it, she was a brilliant scientist, and a great tutor, but she was a slave driver, she expected nothing but excellence and would stop at nothing to make sure Kimito lived up to that expectation. Had he not undergone the body enhancement procedure, Kimito actually believed that his mind and body would have broken to pieces by her tutoring.
That is when a small creature appeared near her, "So that is where you've been Ryonoki, come on and say hello to the nice lady, and don't give me that look. I swear I didn't forget to get your carrots. He took a grocery bag out of a quantum pocket and handed the small animal what seems to be three carrots. The small animal began to eat them with gusto as if she was really happy.
"This is Ryonoki, my long-time friend and companion, she may look strange to you Hakua but let me tell you, she is not, she is a cabbit. Think of her as a hybrid between a rabbit and a cat. Except that this little cutie is also my spaceship. I know how could an adorable bundle of fluff become a ship, I was shocked too when I first saw it when I was a kid."
Ryonoki was eating her carrots but if Kimito had been looking closer he would have noticed that she was also blushing redder than a fire hydrant. "So when did you meet her?" Hakua looked at Ryoniki and asked Kimito, he told her that they basically grew up together, and ever since he was born, Ryonoki has always been with him. Honestly, he couldn't imagine life without her, to which Hakua asked him why was that?
"Ryonoki's mother is the daughter of Doctor Washu Hakubi even if she is a grandmother, she still insists on being called little Washu, the Cabbits are her children or her creations, and the one thing most people underestimate about them is this, their is no computer system in the galaxy that can match the computing power and speed of the mind of a cabbit. Like I said before she is my ship, so she needs that level of intelligence to be able to sense dangers, plot courses, manage speed, and avoid collisions with other things in space such as other stellar bodies and even ships, not to mention targeting, Ryonoki has the power to destroy planets when she really gets serious."
Hakua looked at him and asked him how could something so adorable be so dangerous, to which Kimito told her that yes, she was cute, and yes she was someone he would never want to be without, but that doesn't change the fact that she is the granddaughter of one of the three goddesses that rule reality.
