Henry is leaning on the edge of the Jolly Roger. He hears the sound of waves crashing below, smell the salt in the air breezing past him, messing up his hair a little. His mind was now more quit than it had been in months. He tried to focus on nothing more than the feeling of the warm sun against his skin followed by the cool ocean breeze. Killian comes and joins him after setting up the anchor and leans on the railing of the boat next to him. They are both quiet as they try to enjoy the view.

While Henry's mind was calming down, Killian's on the other hand was racing. He hadn't been back on the boat since the day before henry moved in with him. All the emotions from that fateful afternoon are rushing back and hitting him like a ton of bricks. He didn't love the idea of coming back to this spot, but he truly thought it would be helpful for the young lad, and maybe even for himself. He tried to stand there next to Henry and stare at the horizon, but his mind didn't blank like it usually did.

He continued to feel an overwhelming amount of guilt, guilt he had carried with him since the night the live of his life died. He hated himself for not being able to save her. He had made a promise to Henry saying that he would do everything in his power to save his mother and he still felt he had broken that promise. He still felt that maybe there was something else he could've done, and then maybe she would be here. Thankfully he had gotten a lot better at controlling his mind and his emotions than the last time he was here.

What he did that afternoon was something he both deeply regretted and was also really thankful for. He was at his lowest when he did what he did and he never wants to put himself in the position again. But because that was his lowest, it means that from that moment on he's only been going up. After that moment he was filled with a great feeling of responsibility for Emma's son, and now he is a very present figure in his life. Now slowly, he's been accepting the fact that his Emma is truly gone. However he still felt that gnawing feeling in his heart that he could've done more, that he would've done more. No matter how much time goes by the whole she left in his heart remains the same, and he is sure it won't ever stop hurting.

His train of thought is interrupted by Henry's words.

"Do you think she's happy?" he asked

He turned to look at him confused.

"Wherever she is," he continued, "do you think she's at peace."

Killian pondered this for a moment, for he did not know where Emma was. He thought back once again to that last afternoon he spent of this boat. He thought of how when he was in the water he saw a vision of his lost love. He knew that had to have been only a figment of his subconscious, a last attempt to save his life coming from deep down in side of him. But that image of her floating in the water, her golden hair floating perfectly around her, the rays of sunlight shining from above illuminating her in the most gorgeous way imaginable was forever imbedded into his memory. That image of her was better than the image of her lifeless, pale, bloodied body laying limp in his arms.

"Aye," said Killian, "wherever she is, I am sure she is at peace."

This brought a small smile to the boys face. "Good," he said as his shoulders fell slightly with relief.

After another moment of silence Killian pulled and envelope out of his pocket and extended it towards Henry's direction.

"Lad," he said causing Henry to turn his attention towards the envelope.

He saw that the envelope was addressed to him, it had his name written across the middle in what he knew was his mother's handwriting./p

Before Henry could ask questions, the pirate continued.

"Your mother gave me this a few days after finding out about the visions," he explained slowly, "she asked me to hold on to it and give it to you in case anything happened."

Henry stared at the unopened envelope inside of what to think or say.

"And you waited until now to give it to me?" the boy asked confused

"I uh, I wanted to wait until the right moment"

"Oh well, thank you," Henry said as he took the envelope with a shaky hand

He held it in both his hands now staring at his name. For different reasons this letter upset him. To him this letter meant his mother had given up and just prepared for her death instead of fighting. According to what Killian said this letter must have been written shortly after she promised him she wasn't dying. This letter also scared him. It would officially be the last thing he ever received from his mother, officially be the last words she ever said, or in this case wrote, to him. The thought of that also made his heart hurt and made his eyes burn with fresh tears.

He sniffed and blinked multiple times trying to get rid of any trace of tears. Something that Killian noticed but pretended not to.

"Um," Henry said shoving the envelope in his pocket, "maybe we should start heading back, it's starting to get late"

"Aye," Killian responded, "do you want to sail is back again?"

"Sure," he said without his usual tone of excitement

The way home was pretty much silent. There was an occasional tip or correction made by Killian as Henry tried to sail the ship home, as well as one or two questions about sailing asked by the young lad. Killian could notice the dampener on Henry's mood. He had been more enthusiastic and excited on the way there. He constantly asked questions and looked to Killian for approval, he volunteered to manage anything and everything he could and his eyes lit up when Killian told him stories of past pirate adventures. But now on the way back the boy seemed less interested, his mind somewhere else. He barley talked or asked for any stories, he just kind of went through the motions.

They got to the dock and secured the boat as they needed to before getting off. From there Killian drove Henry to his grandparent's house and dropped him off for dinner per his request. Killian was invited by Henry to join them but he wasn't sure he was ready.

"Are you sure you don't wanna come?" Henry asked before getting out of the car, "It would take a lot of pressure of of me if you're there to distract them"

"I think i'll have to pass on this one, butler me know when you want me to come get you"

"Yeah I'll text you," Henry said getting out

After seeing the puzzled look on Killian's face he explained , "You'll see my message on you're phone screen remember?"

"Oh of course, I remember those bloody messages, alright I'll see you later."

Henry waved goodbye before going inside and once he was out of view Killian drove away.
