Hello. This is my first fanfiction (or at least the first one that I
gained enough courage to post. I accept constructive criticism is
welcomed, but you could always humor me with a flame! -grins-. Well, on
with the story.
Disclaimer: Seriously, if I owned Harry Potter, why would I be writing a fanfiction?
~ Chapter One: The Thoughts of Virginia Weasley
Virginia Weasley stared at herself in the full-length mirror that hung on her bedroom wall. She hated the clothes her parents always bought for her. They would always consist of flowers and other childish prints. No one acknowledged the fact that she was turning into a woman. She was developing curves, and her carrot-red hair had turned a deep copper. She knew that everyone saw her as meek and humble Ginny. But she also knew that deep down inside that someone else was trying to break through. She just didn't who yet.
She sighed. Her mother's rants for her to get downstairs were beginning to annoy her, so she decided to give in. She trudged down the steps and into the kitchen where her family, plus Hermione and Harry, was piled in. Today was the day when she would board the Hogwarts Express. She didn't really look forward too school. For her, it was just another ten months for her to be shunned. She didn't have many friends, and she had lied about the two boyfriends she supposedly had.
She plopped down opposite of Harry Potter, her old crush. She had given up on him after realizing that he had no other emotions toward her besides a brotherly love.
"It's about time you got down here, Ginny. We are going to be leaving a few minutes. Are you sure you have everything packed? Do you have all your clothes? Are you sure your not leaving any of your books?"
'There she goes again.' Ginny thought. Her mother always seemed to baby her. She wouldn't even let her go for a walk around The Burrow by herself. Her family began piling out to the door to one of the ministry cars. Hermione, Ron, and Harry were chatting animatedly. She sighed inwardly. She was always a little jealous of them. They were always there for each other. She wished she at least had one friend, though she never really made an effort to make any. She was too shy.
After her family crammed into the car, she rested her head on the window and watched the scenery fly by. As she did this, she went to thinking. Why should she be afraid to show a different side of herself? Why doesn't she ever stand up to her mother when she buys her the childish clothes? Why did she always have to be so damn quiet? She made a silent pact to herself, saying that she was going to try to be who she really was. She was going to go out and make some friends. For once, she was going to be rebellious and not care about the opinions of others. No longer was she going to be poor, meek, defenseless Ginny. But she was going to be herself.
