I send the boys a text saying that I'm heading to Tyler's with Freya, Kol will be home with Thor. If they come home and are hungry to help themselves to anything they feel like eating. If they need a ride text Kol and he will go, get them. I head out the door and head over to Tyler's. The place is huge. I hate to think he is alone in there. I take Freya in my arms and head up to the front door. I ring the doorbell. He answers the door.
"Tyra, what are you doing here?" He asks looking shocked.
"I thought I would check in on you. I know it's just you and your mom here. I also know it's hard to talk to someone who isn't really around." I say.
"Come on in." He says moving out of the way. He leads me over to a living room. "Who is this?" he asks with a smile.
"This is my daughter, Freya," I say. "Would you like to hold her?"
"Sure," he says holding out his hands awkwardly. I position his arms, then place her in them. She coos at him and gives him a smile. He smiles down at her.
"You apparently charm all the ladies including this one." I say with a laugh. He laughs trying not to disrupt Freya. She squeals and kicks out her feet loving his laugh.
"She's adorable," he says looking down at her in awe.
"How are you doing with becoming a new hybrid?" I ask.
"My girlfriend seems to think I'm against her. She says I'm sired." He says with a disgusted look.
"Sired?" I question.
"Apparently it sometimes happens with vampires who are in love with the person who turned then. They aren't able to say no. Everything the person who turns then says they must do they do. She thinks it's more common in hybrids. I have my own free will. I'm just loyal to Klaus and grateful that he made it so I don't have to have the pain of the change." He says getting upset.
Freya picks up on his change and mood and starts getting fussy. Tyler looks down at her in concern. He looks ready to cry.
"Deep breath, Tyler. She's just picking up that you're upset. I know you weren't in love with him before you changed. I can also see that you have your free will. I would think it would be more like Nik is your Alpha. It's more like he created a pack for you and your loyalty to your pack is normal. But I can talk to Nik about it, alright?" I tell him.
"You really think that? You would do that for me?" He asks.
"Of course, I would. I'll talk to him when he calls later tonight." I tell him.
"Thank you, you're amazing." He says standing giving me a one-armed hug, so we don't squish Freya.
"No problem. It just adds something a little extra to our nightly call, that's all," I reply.
"Alright, thank you," he says taking deep breaths calming himself down.
"Everything else going, okay?" I ask.
"Yeah, beside living in a museum with a mom who only cares about her image." He says rolling his eyes.
"Well, if you need anywhere to get away from it all just come over," I offer him as he hands Freya back to me.
"Thank you," he says. "I might take you up on that offer sometime."
"We should get going. She needs to go down. I will let you know what Nik says," I tell him walking with him to the door. He gives me one last hug.
"Have a good night, Tyra," he says.
"You too," I reply.
We get into the car and head home. I pull into the driveway and see Bekah sitting on the doorstep.
"You okay, Bekah?" I ask as I walk up.
"I was hoping to talk to you," she says.
"Come on in. I'll put Freya to bed then we can talk." I tell her.
I head up the stairs and put her to bed. I head back down after. I make two cups of tea. I know Bekah will probably need one. I hand her one of the cups and keep one for myself.
"What did you want to talk about?" I ask.
"I was talking with Damon, and I think we had a moment, but I'm not sure," Bekah says. "I also think he could have been distracting me because they wanted to do something." She gets up quickly in fright. "Oh shit! Tyler!" she exclaims.
"Rebekah, he is fine. I just left his house," I say. "Now, for it he likes you. From what I've heard he is a flirt, but he is in love with his brother's girl. But if you can show him you are the better option, he might drop her."
"You really think that?" she asks looking at me hopeful.
"I really do. You are an amazing girl, Rebekah. You are loyal, protective, loving, and so much more. But you can't go for both brothers." I warn her.
"I won't, Thanks Tyra. I'm glad you're my niece and nephew's mom. You know just what to say." Rebekah says drinking her tea.
She takes her tea and heads up to the room she's staying in. Jeremy and James arrive back from the party.
"How was it?" I ask.
"Good, we're heading to bed," James says as the boys walk up the stairs. I walk up behind then to go to bed as well.
"Night boys," I say.
"Night mom."
"Night Tyra."
I open Thor's door to check on him. Kol is curled up cuddling my toddler on his small bed. I walk over to Kol and wake him up.
"Tyra?" He whispers voice rough.
"Kol you should head to your own bed," I whisper back.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to fall asleep," he says getting up and heading to the door.
"It's no problem. I just didn't think your back would thank you in the morning if you stayed." I reply closing Thor's door behind us.
"Night, Tyra." He says heading into his room.
"Night Kol," I say heading to my room. I call Nik.
"Hello Love," he answers the phone with.
"Hi Nik, how was your day?" I ask crawling into my bed. I sit up leaning against my headboard.
"It was eventful. I have been getting lots of wolves who want to become hybrids. You were right. Instead of fear they respect me. I like the change." He says.
"I'm glad you do," I say.
"What did you get up to today?" He asks.
"I went to see Tyler, today." I tell him.
"How is he?" he asks concerned.
"He's a boy who has been through far too much, with a mother who only cares about her image. He needs a mom who will give him unconditional love." I tell him worried about Tyler.
"Don't worry, love. He will come around." He says.
"Tyler did mention something about a sire bond." I say.
"Yes, I did notice that. I will try to transfer Tyler's sire bond to you. I hope that will help you help him and will give him a little bit more freedom," Nik says.
"You can't just free him?" I ask.
"It doesn't work that way love. Think more like an Alpha. He needs an Alpha." He says.
"Alright, I hope this helps him." I say.
"You should get some sleep. The kids will have you up bright and early." He says.
"And we have four teens possibly five soon," I reply.
"Well, then you really better get some sleep," he tells me.
"I should."
"Night Tyra."
"Night Nik," I say hanging up the phone. I turn off my lamp and close my eyes falling asleep.
The next day comes sooner then I can imagine. While all the kids are in school, I decide to take a walk-in time square. I had heard they were prepping for some sort of festivities. I'm walking and see Carol Lockwood making a speech. I push Freya who is in her stroller over.
"As a long time, member of the historical Society. I am especially proud to be kicking off this day of festivities. Thank you, volunteers. Tonight, lanterns in honor of the night of illumination started by our founders one hundred and fifty years ago. Here's founding family member Tobias Fell with a history lesson," Carol says.
I see Alaric, James and Jeremy standing together. I walk over while they are applauding.
"Hi mom," James greets.
"Hi James, Jeremy, and Alaric. What brings you here today?" I ask.
"Tobias Fell is the head of the history department. I didn't have a choice," Alaric says.
"I'm sorry to hear that," I reply. Elena joins us.
"Hey, sorry I'm late. What did I miss?" She asks.
"You didn't miss anything," Jeremy says.
He looks a little distracted.
"The first illumination was held in celebration with the newfound prosperity that Mystic Falls enjoyed after the war," Tobias Fell says.
Jeremy laughs.
"What's so funny?" Elena asks. He ignores her.
"Wasn't there a big depression going on after the war?" I question.
"The founders, they placed lanterns over the doors to indicate that it was safe for their neighbours to come outside again. That night was an opportunity for the community of Mystic Falls to come together, a chance to strengthen ties with neighbours, business owners, and the…" I tune Tobias Fell out.
I honestly don't believe his speech even if it did happen, there is more going on, then he is saying. I can tell. I see Bonnie and Caroline talking. I decide to walk over.
"Hello Ladies," I greet as I walk up.
"Hi Tyra," Caroline greets. She looks down at Freya, "And hello to you too little Freya,"
"Hi Tyra," Bonnie greets.
"How are you two?" I ask.
"Better now that Klaus is gone." Bonnie says with attitude.
"Bonnie!" Caroline exclaims.
"It's alright, Caroline. Nothing I can't handle." I say coolly. "Maybe if you stopped trying to kill him, he wouldn't be beating you at every turn."
"Well, he tried to kill us first," Bonnie says.
"I believe the first person who tried to kill you would be Damon and Katherine. Damon also raped one of your best friends," I point out. Caroline looks down at the ground in shame. "You all made the first move against him. you teamed up with his older brother to kill him and you back stabbed his brother. You entered in a war that was going on long before you or I were even born. One that you knew nothing about. How did you expect that to go?"
"Not very well, I guess." Caroline says seeing my point.
"Caroline you are a vampire measuring the world like a human. That won't work. You will always fall short. Everyone you hear or have contact with will also fall short. That's like a chihuahua measuring itself up to a wolf. It will fail every time. So, stop trying to get a fish to climb a tree and get it to swim. Vampires live a long time. I can bet no vampire is perfect and hasn't killed. All vampires have done good and bad. Niklaus included." I tell them,
"Your right, Tyra. As always," Caroline unwillingly admits. Bonnie scoffs.
"Oh, you aren't in the clear either. I know you are upset about your gram's decision blaming it on others. But she was a grown woman. She knew the ricks involved. I understand that it is hard to accept, but that is life. You also need to quit taking very human live into your hands. You are not God. I heard about your resurrecting people without proper equipment and teachers. You have allowed the door between here and the other side to open. Now anyone can walk through," I say.
Bonnie looks down with a guilty look.
"I probably should take that into account," she tells me.
"It's not totally both your fault. You both are facing things you don't completely understand. You are teenagers with no adults to help you shoulder things and make proper decisions." I say.
"Stefan taught me how to be a vampire," Caroline defends.
"Let's look at the facts instead of the emotions. He is a vampire who is a blood addict. He is also the brother of the man who raped toy," I point out. "You may feel on the surface that you trust him, but deep down I don't think you do. I think he was the only one around when it happened, so you latched on to him."
"Tyra, are you done telling others how to live their lives?" I quickly turn to see that it's Kol talking to me.
"Okay, I'm done. You win," I say chuckling. "I'll leave you girls alone to think on what I have said. If you need anything don't hesitate to stop by," I tell Caroline and Bonnie. Kol and I walk away.
"Mind if I take Freya for a walk?" Kol asks.
"No, by all means, go ahead. Meet us back at the house." I tell him handing off Freya's stroller.
I tell her good-bye and give her a kiss. I head over to the Mystic Grill and see Elena, Alaric, James, and Jeremy sitting outside. I go and join them.
"What are we looking at?" I ask.
"Stefan's diaries," Elena says. "Every time Stefan has gone off the rails in the past, Lexi, his best friend has been the one to bring him back,"
"So, where is she now that we need her?" Alaric asks.
"She's dead," Jeremy says. "And you want me to try to reach her, don't you?"
"I thought if I knew how she did it, maybe I could help him," Elena says.
"But this time he's been compelled." I tell her. "It's different then just falling off the wagon,"
"And I don't even know if she's on the other side." Jeremy says.
"Is that what it's called?" Elena asks.
"That's what Anna calls it. There's not like an official brochure or anything," Jeremy jokes.
"Maybe Anna and you should make one," James jokes back.
"Not the time, James," I say.
"So what is it, like some sort of supernatural purgatory?" Alaric asks.
"Well, Anna said it's like being here with all of us, only we can't see her or hear her. And she can't interact with anyone. She's all alone." Jeremy explains.
"Vicki could interact. She blew up my car." Alaric points out.
"Vicki had help from a witch on the other side. Anna…. She's doing it all by herself." Jeremy says.
"I'm just saying maybe we learned our lesson about summoning dead people," Alaric says.
"I spoke to Bonnie, and she agrees," I inform them.
"Do you think it's even possible to contact Lexi?" Elena asks not listening.
"I don't know. I don't have an emotional connection with get. I never even net her," Jeremy says.
"Can we just drop it, please?" James asks getting nervous even talking about it.
"No, I can't drop it. I don't know what else to do." Elena says not caring about anyone else's feelings on the matter.
