Chapter Seven:

With the Contract sealed, Lilith bid her farewell and returned to the depths of Inferno, and Rodin handed Heather translated versions of the books known as The Infernal Compendium, which contained a lot of information about the realm of Inferno and its inhabitants, the Infernals, and The Compendium of Paradise, which contained information about the realm of Paradiso and its inhabitants, the Angels. One of the first pieces of information that was written in both books was that the signing of a Contract to the primary holder of someone's Contract, in Heather's case, Lilith, always had some form of effect and influence on the contracted person's mind and mentality. Usually in the form of the contracted person inheriting some mental trait of their primary Contracted to some extent. Heather would be no exception, and based on the title her Contracted held, the Rebel Against Inhibitions, a very possible change to her mentality would be a slight loosening of her mental and social inhibitions, though the extent of it was unknown.

Mostly just browsing through the various entities in The Infernal Compendium (mostly just looking at the pictures and not really reading any of it), Heather eventually found the entry of her Contracted Infernal. Lilith, the Rebel Against Inhibitions. According to the entry on the Infernal in the book, Lilith was not only ancient and powerful but also the Queen of a tribe of exclusively female Infernals known as the Succubus tribe, a decent portion of which had been Umbra Witches who had formed a Contract with Lilith and become members of her tribe when they died and were dragged down to Inferno, some of whom even managed to grow and make quite a name for themselves. A notable member of the Succubus tribe, the members of which were occasionally referred to collectively as Daughters of Lilith, was the one known as Nevan, the Lightning Bringer. The book entry on Lilith also revealed that she was quite benevolent and very caring, especially for an Infernal, apparently genuinely viewing her Contracted and the members of her tribe as her children, usually even referring to them as such. Something that there was a surprising lack of in Lilith's entry within the pages of The Infernal Compendium was information regarding the Rebel Against Inhibitions' origins. Some of the other Infernals had been willing to share that according to the Infernal rumor mill, Lilith, the Rebel Against Inhibitions, and the Lilith of Hebrew mythology were the one and the same, having been banished to the depths of Inferno as punishment for her crimes of breaking the rules.

After reading through the remainder of Lilith's entry, Heather took moment to think and eventually came to the conclusion that her fate of being dragged down to Hell and becoming a new member of the Succubus tribe with Lilith as a Queen and mother didn't seem particularly bad, actually considering it a good deal. The young Umbra Witch got pulled out of her thoughts by one of Viola's pets, more specifically Trish, rubbing herself against Heather's side and purring, prompting Heather to start petting the cat.

"You know, I'm kind of surprised by how good you are with animals, despite your age and bad experiences." Stated Viola, who had decided to join the younger girl on the couch, albeit to watch tv instead of reading.

"What can I say? I've always been good with animals with only one exception, *fake cough* Ripper *fake cough*, and I've frankly preferred their company over my cousin. Then again, considering how much of a bloated piece of trash he is, that's not difficult. Besides, animals are almost always honest with what they want, unlike a lot of people."

"Interesting. Ever wanted a pet of your own?"

"Yup. I've always wanted a pet of my own. Preferably either a lazy and slightly chubby cat or a tortoise."

"A tortoise, really?"

"What? They're slow and don't really do much."

"Fair enough. Want to watch something on the tv with me?"

"Sure. What do you think of slapstick?"

"I can use a laugh. Let's see what we can find."
