Chapter 6 : Pitch

Elsa's P.O.V

It's just like before. One minute I'm on solid ground, the next I'm running across a thin layer of ice. I wonder if Jack is mad at me. He always wanted someone who had the same powers as him, and there I was hiding my abilities. The further I go the stronger my ice gets, mainly because I'm getting closer to Ahtohallan. Soon I can sense the others following me, Jack's thoughts are so loud it almost hurts.

How is this possible? North told me I was the only winter spirit! Why didn't she tell me? What else is she hiding?

I wish I could tell Jack everything, but what would he say if he found out?

I stop dead in my tracks. The others crash into each other because of my sudden stop, but I don't care. Ahtohallan is completely surrounded by a whirlwind of black sand. I vaguely hear Jack swear behind me.

"Elsa, what's your plan?" North asks, watching me carefully. All we can do is charge through and hope we don't die. Summoning all of my strength I channel it all into my ice powers, before I run right through the black sand, freezing it around me as I go. When I reach the other side there is an arch of ice creating a path for everyone else. I catch Jack's eyes and he is staring at me in awe. Maybe he doesn't hate me after all, as soon as he realises I'm looking at him he turns away and scowls. No, he definitely hates me.

Jack's P.O.V

What the hell is going on! The other guardians have always known I wanted someone like me out there and they all just lied straight to my face! Then Elsa comes along and does the exact same thing! Ugh, and to think I was starting to have feelings for her…what the…? When she looked at me over her shoulder I could see the regret in her eyes. I couldn't handle the emotions written all over her face so I looked away.

"So Winters, what do you want to do now?" Bunny asks wearily as he steps up behind her.

"Why are you asking her? North is the oldest out of all of us and he has the most experience when it comes to Pitch Black." Says Merida accusingly pointing at Elsa, "She's the youngest here and she's never even met Pitch."

"That's actually not true," Interjects North politely, "Elsa is actually the oldest of the guardians and she knows Pi-" Elsa cut him off with a glare that would send mortals running in the other direction as fast as possible, even North shrank back. I almost felt like laughing but this wasn't the right time for it. Besides, how the heck was Elsa older than North! He is like 400 years old, probably older (don't tell him I said that) . Out of the corner of my eye I could have sworn Elsa smirked but when I turned fully towards her her face was a mask of cold contemplation and cruelty that can only be forged through years of combat experience.

"What? There's no way Elsa is older than North."

"Elsa," Elsa turned slightly towards Punzie, the only indication she was listening. "I don't mean to be rude but wouldn't that make you approximately 500 years old?" Rapunzel inquired cautiously, fiddling with the end of her plait. Bunny made a choked sound in the back of his throat and Kiva burst out laughing. That broke Elsa out of her concentration and she sent a vulgar gesture towards her two traitorous friends. I couldn't help but laugh this time. Thankfully I wasn't the only one. Hiccup and Toothless, North, Tooth, even sandy started laughing. Elsa's attention had again turned back towards the island of ice and black sand before her.

"Okay, I've got a plan." Said Elsa at last.

"Ooh goodie let's hear the marvellous plan the great general of the heavens has concocted to defeat little old me." Everyone tensed including toothless the dragon.

"Hmm, I haven't heard that title in, how long has it been since the leviathan war? 450 years was it? How do you still remember that? It was so very long ago." Said Elsa, she was taunting him. But why? Why would she want him angry? And what was the Leviathan war, obviously it meant something to the older guardians because they were staring at Elsa with shock all over their faces. And Holy crap! Elsa was a general in a god's dammed war! The members of the big 4 were looking at Elsa as if she was some kind of monster or something. Toothless and Kiva were baring their teeth ang snarling at Pitch. I sure hope Elsa knows what she's doing.

"Oh my dear little si-" Pitch got interrupted when Elsa struck out at him with a slice of her blade to his stomach. Unfortunately he dodged just in time.

"Oh, now I remember, wasn't that the war your precious girlfriend was stupid enough to let her guard down and got herself killed. In the end she was nothing more than a coward." Merida and Rapunzel gasped at Elsa's fierce taunting. Elsa's smile turned vicious and cruel and cunning. It was a terrifying sight. I couldn't recognise any of the girl I'd come to know in this person. She was completely gone. The most horrifying thing was that the older guardians didn't look surprised at all. Is this the Snow Queen of the stories? Is this what she was really like?

"You B****!" Screamed Pitch as he charged at Elsa.

"Watch out!" Yelled Bunny in warning just as a hammer of black sand came down above Elsa's head.
