Chapter 16: Fun in Jubilife City Part One!
Dawn stared quietly at Kenny in disbelief - as did her friends. Silence filled the air for a while until Kenny cleared his throat, blushed and looked at Dawn. While Ash, May, Max, Brock, Pikachu and Treecko waited for Kenny to speak, they didn't notice that Paul had appeared nearby - finally making it to the entrance of Jubilife City - he noticed the flowers that Kenny was holding and rolled his eyes, he didn't say much but leaned against a tree and folded his arms to listen what Kenny was about to say.
"Di-Di, these are for you! While I'm relieved, I wasn't the reason you weren't mad at me - I wanted to give these flowers to you. I really like you, Di-Di - I know it's early and we haven't seen one another since I started my journey - I want to know if you'd be interested in travelling with me instead of the others? We could complete our goals together as coordinators and a couple" Kenny started to say as he looked at Dawn as he blushed. "I can help you raise Piplup and teach you the other moves that they learn - it'd be awesome travelling with you. Will you go out with me, Dawn and be my girlfriend?"
Ash, May, Max and Brock looked at one another and at Dawn who wasn't really sure how to feel at this stage. The six of them were unaware that Paul had been listening to what Kenny said.
"Pathetic..." Paul simply said - which angered Kenny - Dawn was for once relieved he had said something though at the same time didn't notice Paul was there until he spoke up.
"What's pathetic?" Kenny demanded.
"What you just said..." Paul replied shoving his hands in his pockets.
Dawn was stunned - she didn't know what to think - sure she liked Kenny as a friend, but she wasn't ready for a boyfriend yet. She looked at Paul who seemed to save her from answering Kenny's question. 'How do I say no to a long-term friend?' she thought wishing she can talk to someone about it.
"I somehow doubt this is the right time to ask that, which I'm guessing that's what Paul's implying" Ash said looking at Kenny - Dawn sighed in relief and nodded to agree with Ash. Paul ignored Ash, looked at Kenny and said nothing as he watched on.
"Kenny - I like you as a friend and you'll always be my best friend, remember that. I just don't want to be in a relationship just yet - it's not the right time. My dreams are more important - rejecting a friend is a hard thing to do. I'm certain there's a girl out there for you though, Kenny - maybe you'll meet her at the contests? " Dawn said, looking at him with a smile.
Kenny looked at Ash, Paul and back to Dawn. "I think you guys might be right - maybe it wasn't the right time. Sorry - Di-Di. If you're entering the Pokemon Contest in Jubilife City - I'll most likely see you there. Are you going to get the Poketech watch?" he asked changing topic - he didn't want to ruin the friendship he had with Dawn due to his crush on her.
"That'd be one of the first things I'll be doing when I get to Jubilife City! I've always wanted a Poketech watch. The four of us will be entering the Pokemon Contest too, Kenny. Why don't all of us walk to Jubilife City now it's not too far from here" Dawn said smiling at the thought of getting her very own Poketech watch. "Are you getting one Paul?"
"Might do - not sure yet though - I'll see what they have" Paul replied referring to the Poketech watch. He began making his way to the Jubilife City entrance with Ash, May, Max, Dawn, Kenny, Pikachu and Treecko following after him. He was only interested in getting one to see if they could help him find stronger Pokemon.
"Kenny, if you want my advice when you next ask a girl out make sure the scenery and everything else perfect before you confess" Brock told him. Kenny nodded after realizing where he had gone wrong. "And be sure the girl likes you too! I've been rejected multiple times; I know how you feel!"
"Thanks - Brock. I'll keep it in mind" Kenny said.
Paul left the group when he reached the end of the entrance to Jubilife City - he already knew what he wanted to do there.
Music started playing as they got to Jubilife City.
"Jubilife City at last they say it's the city of joy - the first thing I want to do is go clothes shopping" May exclaimed watching as people walked around doing their own things.
"That doesn't surprise me!" Ash said smiling to May - knowing how much she loved shopping. He wondered where the Pokemon Center was so he could heal his Pokemon.
The city itself was rather big from where they were standing.
"Nurse Joy - here I come!" an excited Brock said with hearts in his eyes, Max laughed.
"What will we do now? Should we split up and meet at the Pokemon Center? I really want to get the Poketech watch" Dawn asked.
"You guys go on ahead, I got things I need to do" Kenny said and ran off, throwing the flowers on the ground. He wanted to check in the Pokemon Center then head to Pokemon Trainers School.
Max took out the Pokenav to get more information of Jubilife City - he got excited after learning there's a Pokemon School there. "I'm going to head to the Jubilife City Pokemon Trainer's School - maybe they have something different compared to the one in Rustboro City" Max said.
"I think we could split up and meet at the Pokemon Center around three?" Ash suggested.
"Right - I'll go and stock up on supplies and see what else the guidebook says about Jubilife City" Brock said, smiling to the idea. He picked up the flowers that Kenny tossed on the ground and decided to use them in attempts to impress a girl - he had no one stopping him this time.
"I'm going to get my Poketech Watch then perhaps go clothes shopping afterwards" Dawn excitedly said - she could hardly wait to wear hers.
"What about you, Ash?" May asked.
"I'm going to see if there's a Battle Arena here" Ash answered.
"There's not" Max quickly told him. "I already looked at the Pokenav - the next Gym is in Eternia City which is past Floaroma Town" he added.
"Hm - you're right. Before we split up - don't give our Pokemon to strangers - we don't want a repeat of what happened last time" Ash said worried that Team Shadow could be in Jubilife City. "I'll go with you, May. Be careful, everyone and have fun!" With that, the five friends split up to do their own things.
"What do you think, James?" Jessie had finished getting her hair done at Jubilife City's hairdressers. It was now down, and a part of her fringe covered her eye.
"You look beautiful - as always, Jess" James gushed, blushing as he looked at her, making her blush too.
"Jimmy boy's right!" Meowth nodded in agreement. Jessie paid for the hair style and left the store with James and Meowth.
"I love you two!" Jessie gushed, as she hugged Meowth and then James. "What should we do now?"
"Not sure - but isn't dat the twerps?" Meowth asked noticing Ash and May walking not too far from them.
"Yes - that's them, with Pikachu! We'd better tell them we're no longer with Team Rocket" James answered watching as the two friends talked and began making their way to Jubilife City Clothing Department Store.
"How will we though?" Jessie asked.
"Follow my lead" James said smiling as he took Jessie's hand.
"Oh boy - dis can't be good" Meowth said thinking James will mess it up.
The former Team Rocket duo made their way to Ash and May.
"You look familiar" May commented at once after her eyes met Jessie's.
"They do, don't they? I feel like I've seen you two somewhere else" Ash agreed with May.
"Pi-Pik-a-chu! (It's Team Rocket!)" Pikachu announced taking Ash by surprise with sparks coming from his cheeks.
Jessie and James both flinched as did Meowth.
"Dat was us before - but not now" Meowth said.
"What do you mean?" Ash asked in confusion.
"We quit" James simply stated.
"You left Team Rocket? How come?" May asked in interest though she was happy for them.
"You get tired of doing the same thing every day!" Jessie replied referring to being defeated and blasting off again. "I wanted a new change as did my boyfriend" she said looking at James lovingly.
"I had a feeling you two are a couple! What are you going to do now that you're no longer with Team Rocket?" May asked smiling to them.
"I'm planning to enter Gym Battles" James said, smiling to Jessie.
"And I'll enter the contests - ever since entering them in Hoenn I realized my love for it" Jessie told them.
"We never saw you in the contests" Ash stated.
"I was Jessilina" Jessie told him making the two looked at one another and at Jessie in surprise.
"How didn't we see that?" Ash asked as he remembered seeing Jessilina in the contests.
"I was disguised. I didn't want the others to know I was a part of Team Rocket but now I'm no longer a part of them I feel more free and ready to follow my dreams" Jessie said smiling to Ash. "You guys were always so clueless with our disguises" she added giggling at the number of times she had them fooled.
"Sometimes we saw through them but not all the time" May commented. "Will you be in this week's contest?"
"Yes - I'm going to register today - I'll certainly see you there. James and I are staying at a hotel, but we also want to know should we tell Officer Jenny that we left?" Jessie asked concerned on what might happen when she tells the officer. "Are you and twe- I mean May on a date?" she asked.
Ash and May stared at one another then at Jessie and James.
"No - we're just going shopping" Ash answered.
"Aw shame - you two would make a cute couple" James gushed smiling to them. "I always knew you had a thing for her!" he whispered the last part to Ash, making him blush.
"You should tell him, May!" Jessie whispered to her and winked, causing her to blush too. "What are you two doing after shopping?"
"Entering the contest and do some sightseeing of course" May said at once. "You two could join us if you want?"
"We'd love to but we have other things to do" James said referring to telling Officer Jenny and training their Pokemon for the upcoming contests.
"You know, James - it doesn't hurt to join them for once! Let's have some fun - we'll tell Officer Jenny later" Jessie convinced him.
"Well, alright - if you think we should have fun then I will" James said smiling to her. Meowth smiled listening to the couple.
"What else is there to see in Jubilife City?" Ash asked - wishing he had a map to the city - Max had all that information.
"I have a tour guide here and it has a few interesting things here, read it" James said as he gave Ash a little book who at once began reading it.
Kenny made his way to the Pokemon Contest Hall to enter in the upcoming one - he was looking forward to working on his skills with his Pokemon. While Paul wasn't really interested in Jubilife City as it didn't have a gym, he made a quick stop at the Pokemon Center to heal his Pokemon then began to make his way to Route 204 he wanted to make his way to Eternia City to get his second badge. Max made his way to the Pokemon Trainers School and found it was slightly different to the one in Rustboro City which made him decide to stay until around three. Dawn started her search for the Poketech building at least that's how she remembered to get one.
It wasn't long until Dawn was greeted by the owner of the Poketech company who told her that she needed to search for three clowns and get coupons for the Poketech Watch and to come back to his main office. Which made her excited after he hinted where they could be.
On his way to the Route 204 entry, Paul ran into the Poketech Boss too, who told him the same thing he told Dawn. Though Paul wasn't that interested, in results he simply shrugged it off and ignored the Poketech Boss's request thinking the device itself would be useless. Paul shoved his hands in his pockets as he continued on his way wondering if it's even worthwhile looking for the Poketech. 'On one hand I suppose it might help me find the annoying girl's missing Pokemon... but in another hand, it could be simply worthless being a free item' Paul thought. He shrugged and chose to ignore the fact the boss asked him to find the clowns and continued on his way.
Dawn was excited as she looked for the clowns. "Let's see judging by the clues..." she began as she bumped into Paul - literally. He decided to go for the Poketech Watch - he could always give it to someone else if it wasn't any good to him.
"Don't tell me you're looking for the three clowns too" Paul muttered.
"Yes! Why don't we look together? I think one is near the Pokemon Center" an excited Dawn answered.
Paul looked around noticing that her friends weren't with her. "Will they be doing that?" he asked referring to her friends.
"No - they went off to do their own things - Ash is with May while Brock and Max did their own things - no idea where Kenny went" Dawn answered.
"Fine - I'll help - only because I need the tickets too!" Paul replied. 'I just hope they don't get in the way!' he thought referring to her friends.
"Where are you heading to, afterwards?" Dawn asked - she wanted to see if she could get Paul to open up a bit more.
"Eternia City for the next gym" Paul replied.
"We'll be heading that way too. Have you been outside Sinnoh?" Dawn asked curiously, she wanted to learn more about Paul and wasn't afraid of him like her friends were.
"I've been to Kanto and Hoenn - competed in their leagues but didn't win, you?" Paul replied.
"I haven't but long to go to Hoenn after hearing it has contests - that's my next destination after Sinnoh - but I want to ensure I win the Grand Festival and Pokemon League before I move on" Dawn said smiling. "I'm determined to win no matter how many times I try" she added figuring it'd be difficult. "What were the gyms like in Hoenn?" she knew she could ask Ash and the others that question but wanted to get to know Paul. Surely something would make him open up.
"They were good - the last one was challenging I almost lost but managed to win - it's the kind of battles I like the most!" Paul told her as he recalled his memories in Hoenn. "The League though was tough - I plan to go back there someday to recompete it after entering Sinnoh's."
"I wish I could've seen your Pokemon League Battles!" Dawn commented wondering what they would've been like. "But you never showed on TV!"
"I didn't want them to film my battle" Paul replied - he hated the camera.
"Fair enough! Oh look, there's the first clown and he's got a Mr. Mime and Mime. Jr with him - wonder if that means he wants a battle?" Dawn commented as she took hold of Starly's Pokeball.
Paul smirked and took out a Pokeball - Chimchar's one.
"Hello - I'm one of Poketech's Clowns! I see you finally found me ha-ha! This is great! Now all you need to do is three things for me and I'll give you a coupon for your Poketech watch" The clown said smiling to them. The clown pulled out a horn and honked it, making Paul simply roll his eyes.
"What are the things you'd like us to do?" Dawn asked curiously and excitedly - Paul just wanted this over with so he could move on and get his watch.
"First of all - I'd like for you both to battle with me - if you win - I'll move onto the next quest" The clown told her.
Dawn assumed he'd be using Mr. Mime and Mime. Jr for the battle and smiled. "You're on! Challenge accepted - this will help me in the next contest too - Starly - Spotlight!" she called out her bird Pokemon.
"Chimchar - Stand by for battle!" Paul called out his Chimchar. Chimchar landed in front of him - ready to obey his orders while Starly flew onto Dawn's shoulder ready for hers.
"You might have guessed - it's a Double Battle. Mr. Mime and Mime. Jr let's haha win!" the clown then honked his horn again. "The lady goes first" he added allowing Dawn to call out her first move.
"Starly, use Wing Attack on Mr. Mime!" Dawn commanded, with training she was able to teach her bird type that move and figured it'd help in contests.
"Mr. Mime, dodge and use Hypnosis on Chimchar" the clown ordered - which frustrated Paul - he hated that move.
"Chimchar - use Dig" Paul ordered in hopes to get the starter Pokemon out the way in time - however, Mr. Mime managed to send Chimchar to sleep.
"Pathetic" Paul muttered referring to his Chimchar sleeping in a battle, he was about to recall it when Dawn stopped him.
"Wait - try this, it'll wake Chimchar up" Dawn said as she took her bag off and got out a Full Heal. She used it Chimchar who woke up straight away.
"Chimchar! (I'm ready!)" Chimchar said determined to win this battle.
"Mr. Mime - use Teeter Dance on Chimchar" the clown ordered - enjoying himself knowing he's annoying Paul with his moves.
"Starly - use Wing Attack on Mr. Mime to stop him from using Tetter Dance on Chimchar" Dawn quickly jumped into Chimchar's defense.
"Tch - Chimchar" Paul said, getting frustrated with the clown. "Use Flame Wheel."
Starly was able to prevent Mr. Mime from using Tetter Dance on Chimchar by using Wing Attack on the Mr. Mime, who got knocked out by Flame Wheel.
"Mr. Mime! You did a great job - return and get plenty of rest - Mime. Jr it's up to you, to win!" the clown said interested in how this battle will turn out.
"Mime. Jr - use Confuse Ray on Chimchar!" the clown certainly enjoyed taking a dig on Paul - who at once was annoyed with his choice of move.
"Starly - quick, use Wing Attack on before he can use Confuse Ray" Dawn ordered.
"Chimchar, use dig!" Paul added.
Again - with Dawn's help - Chimchar was able to dodge being hit by Confuse Ray - as Mime. Jr got knocked out after being attacked by Wing Attack and Dig.
"Alright - you were awesome, Starly!" Dawn cried out excitedly. Paul however, said nothing when Chimchar helped defeat who did a happy dance again.
"It's nothing to be happy about, Chimchar" Paul simply scolded his Pokemon who at once stopped and looked sadly at him.
Dawn noticed that comment and shook her head - another thing she had to talk to him about is his behavior towards his Pokemon. Paul recalled Chimchar to his Pokeball without a word or a praise for the Pokemon.
"Alright - it looks like the lovely couple win this battle - Mime. Jr return - you did a fantastic job! Now onto the second task before I can give you the coupon and why are you looking at me like that?" the clown asked noticing that Paul looked at him in great annoyance.
"We're not a couple!" Paul simply replied. "You need to get your facts right - what's the second task?"
"I want to see your relationship with your Pokemon" the clown said smiling to him and Dawn - he got out his Poketech watch.
"Why do you need to see that?" Paul asked feeling tense about this question - he knew he trained hard with his Pokemon but never really bothered with their friendship.
"Because - I think a relationship with Pokemon is very important" the clown said smiling as he watched Starly eagerly fly back to Dawn's shoulder.
"How many Pokemon?" Dawn asked.
"Just the one you used for the battle then we can move onto the third one before you get your coupon!" the clown told her.
Paul sighed and released Chimchar again. He picked the surprised Chimchar up and let the clown do the friendship test. Chimchar wasn't used to being held by Paul - and wondered if this was a new thing for him.
"Hmm... not too bad... it's decent - but Chimchar seems tense around you - it's like you recently got him. Perhaps give him some Poffins and he'll warm up to you" the clown told Paul. He then scanned Dawn and Starly's friendship. At that reply, Paul simply recalled Chimchar.
"You're pathetic!" Paul whispered to Chimchar's Pokeball as he put the Pokeball back into it's right spot - Dawn heard him though fortunately the clown didn't.
"Wow - you and Starly seem close even though you may have known one another for a short amount of time!" the clown commented. "Alright now onto the third question!"
"Starly - you can take a nice long rest now, you've earned it!" Dawn recalled her bird Pokemon. "What's the third one?" she asked.
"Are you allowed to use Legendary Pokemon in the Battle Frontier?" the clown asked and honked his horn - he then pulled out a drum set out of nowhere and used it until they answered the question.
Dawn thought for a while as she tried remembering the answer. She had seen it somewhere before and was certain all of them where banned.
"It's a conflicting question. Not all Legendary Pokemon are allowed" Paul replied remembering seeing the answer somewhere before.
"Ding! DING! DING DING! DING DING DING! WE HAVE A WINNER! YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY CORRECT! AS FOR YOUR PRIZE A COUPON FOR THE POKETECH COMPANY! CONGRATULATIONS! WHOOT!" The clown shouted in excitement - honking his horn and running around in circles. He then pulled out confetti to throw over both Paul and Dawn. The confetti part annoyed Paul but made Dawn smile - she thought it was fun.
"Ahem! Here we are - your very first Coupon! You will be able to find the other two clowns around Jubilife City - before you search for them you may want to heal your Pokemon as you're up for more battles - good luck and I wish you all the best in getting the other coupons!" the clown said presenting both Paul and Dawn with a coupon each.
"Wow - this is so cool! Thank you so much for everything" Dawn gushed as she looked at her ticket proudly. She placed the ticket in her bag and zipped her bag up then put it back on her back.
Paul nodded - agreeing with what she had said. "Thank you!"
Both Dawn and Paul left the first clown, making their way to the Pokemon Center to heal their Pokemon.
"That reminds me - Starly, Spotlight" Dawn called out her bird type once again surprising Paul by that. She took her bag off and got out a container that held her freshly made Poffins in them - she took the lid off while Paul watched on. Starly watched in interest.
"Here - you deserved this - thank you, for your work, Starly" Dawn said as she gave the bird Pokemon a Poffin.
"Pathetic" Paul said shoving his hands in his pockets.
"What do you mean? You need to reward your Pokemon for their hard work - not scold them. Chimchar did wonderful in the battle and you told him that he wasn't allowed to do the happy dance; that was mean - sometimes your hard to read" Dawn said.
"If you reward them, they'll keep relying on that - that's why my training method is different. They'll get spoiled and rely on treats to get stronger" Paul told her.
Dawn shook her head. "It's the wrong way to go - Paul. Sorta like Team Shadow's sort of way. I don't want you to fall under that path" she told him - worried that he might join up with Team Shadow.
"I never really compared my training to the way they do it..." Paul said. "Being one of them is something I don't want to be."
"Then perhaps you can start avoiding being that way by being nicer to your Pokemon like I said before otherwise someone will think you're with Team Shadow... Given the fact you've saved me a few times - I can see some good in you, Paul" Dawn told him. "The others might not though but I do" by the others, she meant her friends.
"Troublesome..." Paul simply said. He watched as Dawn put the lid back on the container and was about to give it to put it back in her bag. "Maybe... I'll try this one time and see if you're right - but it doesn't change the way I see him" he added - referring to Ash. "I still don't like him."
Dawn smiled and took the lid off once more and gave a Puffin to Paul - who called out Chimchar once again.
"Chimchar... This for your battle..." Paul said, struggling to get the words out as he knelt down to his Pokemon's height. Chimchar looked at him startled by what Paul had said and looked at the Poffin in delight.
Dawn smiled as she looked at Chimchar who was hesitant about taking the treat at first. "It's okay, Chimchar - you've earned it!" she encouraged the fire type. 'Sounds like Paul has a lot of work with his Pokemon to do if he chooses this path' she thought.
"You might want to try and smile - that will help Chimchar learn it's okay!" Dawn reminded Paul.
"Don't expect too much from me!" Paul simply told Dawn - as he placed the treat in Chimchar's paw.
Chimchar looked at the treat in delight and smelt it - smiling, the Pokemon started nibbling at it. "Char! Chim-char! (These tastes great!)" Chimchar exclaimed.
Dawn smiled at Chimchar's reaction and hugged him. "You're a real cutie, aren't you?" she asked, smiling to the fire type Pokemon. Paul was surprised that she hugged his Pokemon - that's something he never considered doing.
"Chimchar, Chim! (You are nice!)" Chimchar simply replied, returning her hug. Paul watched them without another word.
"You see, Paul? This is the bond you should be sharing with Chimchar! He's such a cutie pie! He's got so much potential in him and needs encouraging not scolding" Dawn gushed, still cuddling the Chimchar.
Paul just watched her without a word - he wasn't exactly sure what to say about this. "We'd better get going to the Pokemon Center and find the second clown"
"Mhm! Do you mind if I carry Chimchar while we walk there?" Dawn asked - which took him by surprise.
"I couldn't care for less!" Paul answered, making Dawn smile as the two made their way to the center. Dawn smiled as she picked Chimchar up in her arms and carried him as if he was a child. Chimchar was rather surprised by this as he had never been hugged the way Dawn hugged him. Dawn began wondering if she should leave some Poffins for Paul to give his Pokemon though wondered if he would actually give them to his Pokemon or just throw them out.
'It'd be a waste - I'm sure of it!' Dawn thought as she imagined Paul tipping the Poffins in the bin allowing Rattatas getting them instead of his Pokemon.
Max smiled as he made his way to the Pokemon Trainer School - on the way there, he noticed a lineup of people and news reporters. "Hm? I wonder what happened!" he said as he ran over to see what the commotion is about.
"Professor Rowan! Might I ask you a few questions" Max heard a news reporter say to the Sinnoh Professor as he squeezed in through the crowds to get a glimpse of what was going on. Treecko followed after Max wanting to know what was happening to.
"You're from Sinnoh Now, aren't you?" Professor Rowan asked the female news reporter - who was different from the one that Max had seen.
"Yes. I'm Nadine and we're now live on Sinnoh Now! Today we've stumbled across Professor Rowan - who is Sinnoh's most popular professor and had made an incredible discovery! What is it? We'll find out today!" Nadine said as her camera crew started filming it.
"AH yes - hello everyone as you all know, I'm Professor Rowan. Sinnoh's Pokemon Professor. One of my research assistances had made an incredible discovery about Pokemon Pre-Evolution. You remember how I informed you about the Pokemon Pre-Evolution band that you can use when you have enough badges and Pokedex entries? It turns out there are Pre-Evolution Stones hidden all over Sinnoh. You can use them similar to a proper evolution stone. Let's say you don't want your Raichu being one just now - research shows that we can turn Raichu back into a Pikachu and you can use it again to turn into a Pichu without effecting the Pokemon's stats. These stones are very hard to find as they look like regular ones - to use them you need a certain number of badges, ribbons and Pokedex Entries and you are able to use the Pokemon in the Pokemon League and gym battles" Professor Rowan informed his viewers.
"Wow that's so cool, isn't it, Treecko?" Max said in interest.
Before anyone could say anything - two people with light aqua hair wearing an unusual outfit appeared with Pokeballs in their hands.
"Professor Rowan - we heard what you said and came for that!" one of the duos said.
Max didn't like the looks of them.
"You're Team Galactic, aren't you? Of course, you'd be after this - I won't be revealing where to find these stones unless the trainers have met the requirements and they've bonded with their Pokemon" Professor Rowan said, wishing he had Pokemon on him - he left his at the lab thinking he wouldn't need it for the day.
"Yes - I'm Jim and this is Lianna. Now hand over those stones" Jim demanded, nodding to Lianna to inform her to get ready for battle.
"It seems that some strange people from Team Galactic had appeared and demanded for Professor Rowan to give them the stones - what will happen next?" Nadine asked as she kept the camera rolling.
Max pushed past the crowd with Treecko following and faced Team Galactic with Treecko.
"Ooh you have a shiny Treecko kid! We might take that one too" Jim commented looking at Max.
"You're dreaming - I'm here to stop you from getting the stones" Max said - determined to defeat the evil duo.
"A kid? You've got to be joking" Lianna said with a laugh.
"I happen to be a gym leader's son! So not joking - my sister and our friends are around here too - I can call them for backup" Max said.
"On second thoughts maybe, we should battle the kid - Lianna and get on with our plans - the others should be there too!" Jim told her.
"What others?" Professor Rowan demanded.
"Wouldn't you like to know" Lianna smirked.
"I would! What exactly are you planning to do with the stones?" Professor Rowan asked.
"Us to know for you to not find out" Jim told him - which annoyed Professor Rowan.
"OOoh!" the crowd gasped.
"Now let's battle or are you scared?" Lianna asked looking at Max - making a mental note to somehow take his Treecko as well. 'That Treecko would make great profit!' she thought.
"I think you should be the one scared" Max smirked - nodding to Treecko. "Get ready, Treecko" he said.
"Treecko, Tree! (I am, Max!)" Treecko said smiling to his trainer.
Brock had made his way to the Pokemart with the bouquet of flowers that Kenny dropped on the ground and noticed a few pretty girls already looking for certain items.
"Hello - I'm Brock and your name must be Pretty because that's what you are!" Brock gushed as he rushed off to flirt with them at one at the time - offering one of the girls the bouquet who took it but rejected Brock's offer for a date.
Heartbroken - Brock chose to focus on shopping instead getting the things he wanted. 'On the bright side - I don't have to carry those flowers around anymore...' he thought as he began reading the list of things to buy.
On the list were Revive, Full Restore, Full Heal, Pokeballs, Great Balls, Premier Balls, Escape Rope and a few other things he knew the group would need a bit later on. After buying that - he chose to go to the grocery store to buy supplies for his Pokemon food and his friends - flirting with pretty girls on the way too.
"I just had a great idea, Biff!" Cassidy smiled as she looked at Butch - the two had finished arguing and were still in the Pokemon Center.
"What is it, Cass? It's BUTCH!" Butch corrected her in annoyance.
"Why don't we just ring all the other Pokemon Centers to see if they can help us find them?" Cassidy suggested.
"Cassidy - you're a genius! Why didn't we think of that before?" Butch said smiling at the idea of becoming closer to achieve their goals on capturing Max and May for Giovanni.
Cassidy shrugged. "We'll start ringing now and ask" she said.
Note: I wanted the clowns to be different to the anime/games to make it more fun to read. The other two should be a lot of trickers and more interesting. What other things would you like to see in Jubilife City? I want to make it slightly different to the anime/games to make it more fun as a tourist spot for them. Will Cassidy and Butch catch up or will they be delayed? What do you think will happen next? Do you think Paul will ever change the way he treats his Pokemon in this story?
