Maura knew that she had chosen the right dress upon seeing Olivia's reaction. When Olivia looked at her, she felt like the only woman in the room. This woman made her laugh and Maure found herself truly enjoying the night as dinner had been going well. The salmon was cooked to perfection and the conversation was flowing as smoothly as the wine Olivia had ordered. She was impressed with Olivia's ability to pair wine with dinner and thought of Jane, who would likely be complaining about how snobby this place was. She pushed those thoughts away, wanting to enjoy the company of this very attractive and intelligent woman.
"Care for dessert, Doctor Isles?" Olivia offers with a twinkle in her eye.
Maura leans in, drawing Olivia in as she whispers against Olivia's ear. "Yes," she breathes out, observing the goosebumps that appear on Olivia's arm as she does so.
Olivia's eyes darken, the smile replaced with a smirk as Olivia looks around for the waiter. She asks for the check and they walk out with Maura holding the other woman's arm for support. The cobblestone made it difficult for Maura to walk in those heels, even with years of experience. She trips over a crack in the ground, falling forward and gasping as strong arms hold her, preventing her from hitting the street. Maura turns, placing her arm on Olivia's chest as their eyes meet.
"Are you okay?" Olivia asks as she holds her hand against Maura's lower back to stabilize the shorter woman.
"Yes, thank you for catching me. That could have been a disaster", Maura says as she regains her posture. Olivia winks, holding out her arm again as the two walk towards the car. As they reach the car, Maura slows her steps before coming to a stop in the parking lot. Olivia looks back, a look of intrigue depicted on her face as she adjusts to the change in pace. To show her appreciation, Maura grabs the athletic arms of the other woman, pulling her in closer until their faces are next to each other. She looks at Olivia for approval, seeing her nod slightly as Olivia leans her head in closer as well. Their lips meet, sending a jolt of excitement down Maura's spine. Maura pulls Olivia closer, curling her hands into Olivia's smooth hair as her other hand travels to Olivia's hip. Their lips fight for dominance before Olivia takes control, pinning Maura up against the car. Olivia deepens the kiss as a small moan escapes from Maura's lips, unable to restrain herself any further. With the weight of Olivia on top of her and the cold metal pressed against her back, Maura's senses are inundated. She is overwhelmed with desire and puts her hand back on Olivia's chest, stopping her.
"I want you. Take me home", Maura whispers. Olivia opens the passenger door for Maura, waiting until Maura gets comfortable in the seat before closing the door and walking to the other side. The air is thick with tension and Maura feels more desperate as every second goes by. She brings Olivia's hand from where it rests on the middle console to her thigh, letting Olivia's fingers trace the edges of her dress. Olivia's hand felt warm against her skin and every touch was electrifying. She slips Olivia's hand up further into the inside of her dress until the hand reaches the edge of her lingerie. They reach a red light and Olivia turns, silently asking for Maura's approval before pulling Maura's lingerie to the side. She gasps at the desire soaking through the lace as Maura leads her hand inside of her. Olivia traces the outline of Maura's lips and teases her, satisfied at how Maura rolls her eyes back into her head against her touch. They pull into the driveway and Maura snaps back to reality as the car comes to a stop. Olivia walks around the hood of the car as Maura admires how delicious her date looks. The door opens and the pair quickly walk inside, failing to see Jane's cruiser parked on the other side of the street. Having seen enough, Jane pulls off into the night, leaving skid marks on the pristine street as she sped away.
"Jane?", asks the brunette woman, surprised to see the detective on her doorstep.
"Hey, Mary Anne. Wanna finish that date?", said Jane as she offers her brightest smile.
"Weren't you undercover for that date?" asks Mary Anne as she tilts her head.
Jane shrugs, saying "Sure. Doesn't mean that flirting wasn't real though." Mary Anne lets the detective in as they make their way to the couch. "Can I get you something to drink?".
"Please. Anything that packs a punch", Jane says as she settles on the couch. Mary Anne returns, bringing her a glass filled with whiskey. Jane downs the drink in a few seconds as Mary Anne watches, a sudden hunger hitting Mary Anne as she sees Jane wipe her mouth of the drink. She pushes Jane against the couch and positions herself on top of the detective, straddling her face first as she holds Jane's face up to look at her. They begin kissing, Jane's taste is full of whiskey. Jane pulls Mary Anne's shirt off and holds her thighs, where the skirt on her legs has already begun to ride up. Mary Anne grinds into her, hoping to motivate Jane to move faster. Jane strips the rest of Mary Anne's clothes, leaving the skirt on in order to keep the woman on her lap. Her thumb and pointer finger hold Mary Anne's nipple, pinching slightly. A loud moan leaves Mary Anne's mouth, where Jane's tongue is finding comfort. Jane's hand treads down to Mary Anne's legs again, before going under and hovering where she wanted to enter.
"Please. Jane", begs Mary Anne.
Jane is happy to oblige, with two fingers gently entering Mary Anne as Mary Anne grasps Jane's shoulder. She cries out and her legs begin shaking as Jane curls those long, strong fingers inside of her. Mary Anne rides those fingers until her muscles give out and dig her fingernails into Jane's back, leaving her mark. Jane continues the pace, slowing her strokes as Mary Anne rides out the final waves of her orgasm. When she pulls out, Mary Anne collapses next to her, breathless.
"Wow. I have imagined that moment for months", says Mary Anne as she grins at Jane. Jane smiles back, her eyelids suddenly extremely heavy as the sleep deprivation catches up to her. Mary Anne leans her head on Jane's shoulder and Jane feels the pull of sleep as she closes her eyes and relaxes back into the couch.
Jane is jolted awake by the sound of her phone ringing. She opens the phone a second too late, missing the call and seeing 3 missed calls from dispatch. Her phone rings again, and she answers quietly to avoid waking Mary Anne.
"Rizzoli".
On the other end, dispatch gives her the details for another body. She scribbles a note to Mary Anne and dresses in the same clothes, already dreading the jokes that Frost and Korsak would make at her repeated outfit. The address from dispatch seemed familiar and it wasn't until Jane pulled over that she realized where the body had been found. It was the baseball field that Frankie and she had just been to. Jane looks around, hoping to find a familiar face.
"Whew. Jane. Rough night?" Frost jokes as he catches up to Jane.
Jane shoots him a look, "let's see if you keep up that energy once you see the body, yeah?", she warns.
Frost chuckles, saying "fair play." They walk over to the body, which was placed in the killer's signature "prayer pose" again. Another Latin phrase is etched into the wood.
Non ducor, duco.
"Where is Maura when you need her?" Jane snaps as her patience wears thin at the realization that their killer has struck again. Frost gags, holding his hand up to his face as he backs away from the crime scene. Jane waves him away as Maura walks up, looking incredibly put together in a tan trench coat and heeled boots. Jane's day only seems to get worse as she sees the glow present on the doctor's face.
"Fun night, huh?" Jane questions as Maura reaches the body.
Maura smiles softly, too intently focused on the victim to read too deeply into Jane's line of questioning. "I enjoyed myself, yes. Olivia is a sweetheart."
Jane has to stop herself from rolling her eyes as she says, "Call me when you get the test results, okay? I have a feeling we won't have anything. I need to go".
Maura stops Jane in her tracks as she says, "I am not led, I lead. That's what the phrase says".
Jane flashes a thumbs up in Maura's direction, still hell-bent on leaving as soon as possible.
"Jane, stop. Come here," Maura beckons as Jane returns hesitantly. Jane feels her heart rate pick up as the doctor leans in, staring intently. "What is this on your cheek?", Maura asks as she rubs at a red spot on Jane's face. Maura whispers several decibels lower, avoiding the attention of the uniforms and crime scene techs around them. "Is that whiskey on your breath?", she asks.
"It was a fun night for me too", Jane says with a wink as she rubs the red spot off of her.
A bullet whizzes past Jane as she finishes that sentence and Jane turns sharply at the sound.
"What the hell?" says Jane right as a thump lands in her right shoulder blade.
She falls to the ground and knows that she has been shot, as she is familiar with this feeling. Her shoulder blade feels warm as the blood seeps through her jacket, staining the grey material. Before she hits the floor, she hears the shouts of uniforms chasing after the shooter. Sirens sound as cops pull off in pursuit and she hears Maura's voice shouting her name as she drifts in and out of consciousness. Maura pulls the jacket off to examine the extent of the damage, placing direct pressure on the wound to control the bleeding. When she sees the scratch marks on Jane's back, she connects the dots with the previous red spot on Jane's cheek. As she hears Frost calling for an ambulance, she feels a spark of jealousy gathering in the pit of her stomach as she realizes that a woman had given Jane these marks. Marks made during the heat of passion. The same marks that she must have inevitably left on Olivia. As she waits for the paramedics, she tries her best to keep Jane awake.
"Jane, stay with me, okay? You need to stay awake", Maura says with a voice laced with worry. Jane nods, her vision clouding. The paramedics place Jane on the stretcher, swiftly loading her into the back of the ambulance as Maura attempts to climb on.
One of the paramedics stops her, "I'm sorry, ma'am. Only family allowed", she says as she closes the doors.
Maura holds Jane's jacket to her face, her tears flowing freely as Jane's scent fills her senses. Korsak appears next to her, guiding her to a squad car as they follow the ambulance to the hospital. "She's tough, Dr. Isles. She will pull through", he offers. Maura barely hears his words as the numbness settles in. She holds Jane's jacket tighter, ignoring the incoming call from Olivia on her own phone.
