Falling Stars

A poem for Haldir and the elves who fought and died at Helms Deep. Movieverse.

Disclaimer:  Though I love Tolkien's work, sadly I own none of it…and that sucks. I can only worship his work in my own little way.

* I wrote this about Haldir and the elves at Helm's Deep while I was at work.  It could be seen as being from Haldir's point of view, or even another elf…but it's all good. *

Stars streak across the night sky,

As I die;

I watch them fly by.

Bringing light to the darkness,

Burning in that vibrant brilliance

One last time,

One last moment of glory;

One final battle

Against the darkness.

Burning in that vibrant brilliance

I fall

One last time.

Stars stream across the sky.

As I die;

I watch them fly

Falling with me lighting up the night

In that final brilliance

One last time.

We die together,

Never to shine again.

But for this last battle,

We will shine as brightly as the stars,

Bringing light to darkness,

One last time.

In glory,

In light.

Into darkness,

Into death.

We may fall in the darkness,

But we will live on in the light.

We will live on in memory.

We are the stars.

We are the light.
