Spoilers:  Game 6 of the NLCS between the Chicago Cubs and the Florida Marlins (bet you know what this is about by now).  None for CSI

Category:  Frustration?

Author:  Traci

Author's Notes/Summary:  Seeing as WP is a Cubs fan I decided Grissom would be too… this is my take on Grissom watching that horrific moment in the 8th inning.  For those that don't know what happened… a Cubs player (Alou I think) was reaching to catch a foul ball in the 8th to make it 2 outs (Cubs were winning 3-0 at that point) when an… I'll be nice, 'fan' reached out over the glove and tried to catch it himself… when all was said and done in that inning the Marlins got 8 runs.

Dedication:  This is dedicated to every single fan who watched that game and just about lunged through their TV at that moment.  Oh, and I guess William Peterson too hehehe.

Oh yeah, this by no means is meant to be offensive – it's merely stress/frustration release here.  Really.  Honestly.  Of course, I come from the city where the fans throw batteries at players, jump into penalty boxes to take on players, etc. hehehe.

This was written after Game 6 and prior to Game 7 – and in about 5 minutes or so so please forgive any mistakes.

'Cursed Again?'

"NO!!!  HOW COULD YOU?  WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?"

Catherine Willows and Nick Stokes stopped just outside of their bosses' doorway upon hearing the shouting.  They looked at each other and slowly Catherine knocked on the door.

"Grissom?"

"YOU JUST COST US!!"

Confused, the two CSI detectives opened his office door and stopped short.  Nick began laughing while Catherine stared in disbelief.

Gil Grissom was practically pulling his hair out while watching a baseball game on his computer.

"Bad game?" Nick asked.

He looked up at them, eyes filled with rage.  "A stupid fan just cost the Cubs the game."

"Uh, Gil, you do know we have cases to deal with, right?" Catherine asked, amusement coating her voice.

"Yeah, yeah.  Just a second."

Nick and Catherine shared another look.

"Uh, what happened?" the younger man asked.

"He had it.  It would have been an out but no, some fan had to reach out to get the ball himself."

By the time the fifth Marlin run came in, Grissom turned the computer off.  He couldn't take anymore.

By this time a small crowd had formed outside the office.  Warrick Brown and Sara Sidle had to push their way through and into the office.

Warrick looked around.  "What's going on?  We could hear you shouting all the way down the hall."

"Apparently something about a baseball game," Catherine casually told him.

"Oh," Warrick responded.  "I heard about that on the radio.  Sorry, Griss."

He growled.  "There's still tomorrow.  And for that fans sake, they'd better win tomorrow.  Now, who wants the DB found behind Caesars?"

*This was not meant as a threat to that infamous fan… I'm sure there are plenty of people in Chicago taking care of that right now hehe.
